America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. There's plenty of seats up front. >> Hoping one of these chairs just hides me. >> Um I know so we have one board member missing. Um she is at the volleyball game, but she will be joining us when she can. Um I expect we may have a few other people join us too um senior night. Um so we have a few people um missing because of that. Um let's see. So before we get started, I just want to make a quick comment. Um I'm going to keep it quick. I wrote myself notes here so I would be clear. Um I just want to quickly address the anonymous letters that have been shared and circulated uh

throughout social media. As a board, we encourage and support open communication between the district and the community we serve. Increased communication and transparency between the district and the community is a big reason why I personally wanted to be on board. Anonymous letters, especially when shared widely through social media, undermine that transparency and perpetuate rumors and false narratives. They spread misinformation, erode trust, and distract from the positive work happening every day in our school. We encourage anyone with concerns or questions to engage with us directly through meetings, phone calls, or in person so that discussions can be had based on facts, mutual respect, and accountability. We are all very accessible. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we're all very accessible. Anonymous attacks do not move our school or our community

forward. Our board stands behind the district's leadership and staff and the integrity of the decisions made on behalf of our students. We know that the work done here is complex and challenging, but it is always guided by the commitment to do what is best for the students and their families. As a board, we remain proud of our district, confident in our direction, and grateful for the support of those who continue to focus on what truly matters, which is our students. Thank you. >> So with that, we'll move on to public comment. >> You know, every time she says that, we're all going to look at you. All right, seeing none, we'll move on to reports. >> Student council um is not here tonight. Uh Mr. Price did reach out to me and said in light

of senior night uh for volleyball student council members were hoping to be there. So he said he'll have a um double report. Next up >> elementary. >> All righty. I'll start off with our sore assemblies. We had our September sore assembly uh took place on October 3rd. Our next one, October sore assembly is going to be November 14th, 1:30 in the new gym. Our first round of IT took place on September 22nd, and our next round of IT meetings will be taking place Friday, November 7th. The reading under the lights log, um, last week was the deadline for students to turn in their reading under the lights reading log. that was part of their um book picks that students got for going to Ring Under the Lights. Um those students who turn in their reading

logs will be entered in for a chance to win additional prizes which will be announced at the next store assembly. We have the Jolly Fire Department volunteer their time and come and speak to our students on October 3rd. Um they came around to our kinder one through three classrooms talking about fire prevention and safety. Mr. Counter has scheduled the Elks free throw shoot qualifying event for students between the ages of eight and 13 for tomorrow. Let's see. Parent teacher conferences took place last Tuesday and Wednesday. I have a typo there. We had a total of 180 in-person or phone conferences take place over those two nights, which is just under 97% participation rate. So, that was amazing. We have the end of the first quarter is this Friday. We are hoping to get our first

quarter report cards mailed home late next week. and our Halloween parade. Uh, all elementary kinder 1 through five students will conduct their annual Halloween parade to showcase their costumes. And that will be on next Friday, Halloween, and that should start roughly about 2:15. And for testing, we have the junior class took the PSAT exam on October 8th. Those scores should be getting posted to the students. um, College Board accounts starting on the 23rd, so just a couple days. And we had the junior class then the week later took the ASPAB exam last week. And for the greater testing, we had the first testing window for math, math, and ELA testing, um, third through 8th grade students for math and ELA. that opened on the 13th and we have eight weeks until December 5th to complete

those pre-scheduled testes. Okay, any questions, comments? All right, moving on to uh middle school, high school. >> Mr. Hernandez has included her report uh into the agenda. I'll just kind of make some highlights. Uh hats off to um uh Miss Cook who I think did the work on arranging it and Miss Milton who took the kids to the Build Montana uh day. Pretty cool operation in which they actually got to sit on back hose, excavators, um the the the machinery of itself. And they also had some simulators uh in which the kids were able to um work through and I know they all had a um a good experience um with that build Montana day. There's a couple more kind of in the area that we'll try to send some kids to as well. Um

Miss Cook is meeting actively with seniors and parents individually to discuss future plans after graduation. Um and she's kind of slowly but surely chunking away at those good meetings. Mr. Hernandez is going to report out a little bit more in depth on that uh next month with just not getting into individuals plans but just levels of specificity and cool things those kids are planning on doing um when they graduate. Senior nights are listed there. Um did a middle school sorbuck ice cream um for the middle school students um early in the month of October. Uh we had our first uh student of the month pizza with the Masons. Uh a handful of gentlemen came in. Um I was out that day. I don't know if Mr. Richard went down, but it's such a great experience

and we talked about that one and we've kind of altered the look of that, but middle school, high school students go down, they pick up the littles, they all walk down together, um you know, help serve the pizza. It's kind of a leadership mentorship piece. Um really a new take and a nice refresh of of that. So, we'll keep that going. Um, hats off Miss Focal for organizing the highway cleanup. Uh, sixth graders did that. I saw some pictures up on Facebook um showcasing them. Uh, Miss Gell and Miss Milton um doing the work with with the kids to get them to the Nile. Um, as you see there, we've got 25 students signed up for a manufacturing day later this week. Um, parent teacher conference numbers. Um, this is pretty typical. Um, we start

to see those decrease a little bit. I did challenge Mr. Hernandez to see if she could beat Mr. Richard. >> It's a pretty tough challenge. >> It is 90 97 98 tough. Uh, but we did get about 40% um that showed up for middle school and high school. >> Was I counted? I was in the building. >> So, >> I did talk to somebody. >> Um, I'll go back and look at the give another point. um working on our um intervention assistance team meetings uh taking place um during our PLC's mentioned the end of the quarter honor band edition uh auditions uh Miss Herford taking the team to econo quest speech and drama we're going to continue to to ring the bell on this but still looking for judges still looking for volunteers got plenty

of space uh for everybody for that um FFA um is in Bosezeman And then um we have state cross country. Um they're headed uh over to Missoula. We got a good crew going. Um last I had heard I think there was 12 including coaches um that we're going to be heading over there. We'll have a police escort forum and um send them off. Um we had our home meet cross country um on Thursday of last week. Um districts, as we know, it's volleyball senior night. districts are are coming up uh next week and middle school girls basketball is also off and running. We have over 30 girls uh participating. They're all practicing together. Um but they do some nice breakouts of um being in the in the new gym, big gym all together and then

you see, you know, some of the the fifth and sixth graders will break off and go down to the old gym. So using the space and uh really positive energy, really happy to see those numbers. I have two questions or a question and a comment. Um, so I saw and I don't know if it was one of those news articles that we got or where I saw it, but I saw like in Great Falls like in September there was a worlds of work career fair uh for students and like a ton of like the schools from that like central part of the state went and I think the article mentioned that that it was one of like several career fairs that happened like regionally. Is there one that happens in in Billings that's similar to

that? Because it didn't sound like it was just like construction. It sounded like it was like a lot of different um Oh, careers and public works. >> Yeah, I don't know specifically that outfit, that brand world of work or not, if if they travel around or not. Um I do know that um between Billings and Red Lodge uh we do have um the kids attend a couple of career fairs uh throughout the um the year, but I'll make a note of that one. >> Yeah, I just I saw the article and I thought that was interesting. And then um I got sidetracked because Mr. Price wasn't here, so I almost forgot about this, but I just want to put this out there just so it's on record even though we don't have people here. Um,

just our different groups, our different student groups. And I wish I would have brought this up earlier and then I kind of forgot about it or whatnot, but for all the student groups out there, there's a real opportunity that I think is missed um for fundraising at like uh middle school volleyball games, middle school basketball games. Um so we missed middle school volleyball, but middle school girls basketball. Um the first tournament in Joliet is coming up on Saturday. So it's like a triangular. There's two other teams here. um it's in the morning. Being one of those parents, we would kill for a cup of coffee. We will pay a premium for a cup of coffee. So the student groups and stuff, I would really encourage everybody within those student groups to, you know, make some

coffee, sell some coffee. If you have donuts, bring donuts. if um you want to go above and beyond and make breakfast burritos. Like as one of those parents that are there in the morning, um I'm definitely buying that stuff. My kids are buying that stuff. Um everybody with us is buying that. So um as I said, we've missed middle school volleyball, but middle school girls is right here. We have two home games right away this weekend on Saturday, the following weekend. And then in November, um middle school boys basketball is the same type of schedule. Saturday mornings. Um and then little guy basketball. I mean those are long mornings in the gym and um people really want that cup of coffee. So um I encourage all the student groups to really look at that and

and make a plan. So I have one comment because I was up and I helped a little bit. I just got to drive the four-wheeler on the for the cross country but the rain came. It was muddy. They were in the field. That whole group ended up changing the course getting people there. There were like I mean Mr. Counter said 34 schools signed up. It was very wellrun. And so Mr. Counter and Miss Mr. Price and Miss Atinson and the kids or whoever helped did it, they did an excellent job, especially with the changes. So, you know, it's it's really good that we have a group of people here at the school. No matter what group it is, no matter what happens, it comes up, they fix it. Even Even Mr. Beggar was helping. Wouldn't

hand me a cup of coffee on the way by, but he was helping. But I just >> You got faster every >> I did. The boy, they got faster. They ran over. >> You didn't want there to be any confusion and you threw it on yourself. >> Yeah, I know. But I think that that it just goes to show what our school with the kids and the coaches and the adviserss that we have, the things that we do for our kids, I just think is wonderful. So that was just one. >> That's just one example. >> I bet you could have sold coffee at that one, too. >> Yeah, there were people looking for coffee. Yes, they were. >> Okay. Jelly Teachers Association. Guess that's me. >> I'm Emily Fannis. I'm the president of the

JTA. Um, so JTA has been very busy with negotiations, so that's taking up a lot of our time working with the board and administration. We've met two times. Um, so far we did a training that was very informative and I was nice to see how it all works. Um, and then we had our first full meeting a couple weeks ago. We have three more meetings scheduled. Um the next one is next week, next Wednesday, but um great conversations and discussions going on. So, so far so good and we hope to wrap up most of it maybe before Christmas, but we'll see how it goes. Um the other thing is Mr. Beggar, Miss Dinsdale, Mrs. Smith um and I have been meeting monthly just trying to have open communication talking through different upcoming topics, questions, concerns.

Um I that I think it's been great um just to know that we're on the same page and hearing it. Next month we're going to sit as a larger committee and review the extracurricular statements. >> That's all I have. >> Thank you. Does anybody have any questions? >> No, but I'd like to I'd like to say that I really appreciate the fact that we all get together in negotiations and everybody works as a group for the betterment of everybody. >> Yes. And it's just a very nice group to to work with. Everybody's understanding work. So, I like that. >> Yeah. And I really like the couple of meetings that we've had to just kind of make sure that everyone's on the same page and everything. I think they're very productive. So, >> yeah. Thank you.

>> Thank you. >> Okay. Fall testing data. >> Fall testing data is included. Um, you see a summary there. We do a variety of testing throughout the year at the school. Um, Mr. richer. Um obviously does the brunt of that work and the organization is um is constant really um but the test that we do um include MAPS testing uh the mask Montana alliance of standards through the year testing Montana science assessment multi-state alternative assessment the ACT the PSAT um as well as the ASVAB uh sixth through 10th grade does maths reading and math testing kindergarten through fifth grade does I Ready math Math and reading fifth, 8th and 10th grade do map science testing. The MAP and I ready diagnostic test is given to the students in the fall, winter, and spring windows. Um

so I put a link um in our new platform there if you're ever just, you know, um wanting to take a look at the the district level testing data. That link will take you straight to the page. Um, we've got data going back to the 232 24 school year that includes all that cohort data, the 2425, and now you see a new link up there on the website to the 2526 uh data. There's also two buttons there on the website uh to how to consume the data because it's overwhelming um in in that fashion. Uh so there's a couple of little walkthroughs, but if you just look at the document that um we included in the packet today, uh there are a couple pages of kind of like overviews of how to read the I

Ready data, what we're looking for, what does the green mean, what is the yellow, what is the red. Um they break it down into, you know, some five level placements which give a little bit more discreet uh data or a three-level placement. You can kind of toggle back and forth between those when Mr. Richard and I or teachers are looking at it. It's kind of helpful uh when it comes to groupings and uh creating some targeted interventions uh for different groups in your class. Um and then we Mr. Richard and I are pretty pleased to see that they have this new um three-level beginning of the year uh placement view uh which kind of allows us to gauge because a a second grader coming in I mean excuse yeah second grader coming in is going

to be from a second grade standpoint in August probably below grade level um doesn't need to be have completed all of the second grade standards by that point in time Um so the expectation is by the end of second grade that they have achieved kind of grade level um status. So they did do a new view and that kind of helped us to see okay u when we look at this this crew at this point in time in the year um where where are they? So that's a new look for our teachers and so that's included in there. Um there's quite a bit of data to consume um on there and Mr. Richard's doing a very nice job of um compiling it. So, we've got, you know, some longitudinal um tracking to to look at

and make sure that we're making progress. Um, there's a lot there, but I'm happy to take any questions that anybody sees. >> So, I forgot to point out when we started the meeting, um, just in case I think everybody here knows, but just anybody else. So, we are using a new platform for our meetings and I think I think once we all kind of get around the learning curve of it or whatnot, it's very nice just to be able to click through um the meeting and I think especially going to be nice uh for the public to uh click through the different sections and the attachments and whatnot. Um so us as board members we all have usernames and passwords um to get in for but for the public the public packet is all arranged

the same way. >> Yeah I think that was feedback that we looked for. So there's a couple folks at coffee this morning um just say okay we like it on our end but ultimately yeah that's good but what does it look like from the public perspective? I think one of the one of the folks that was at coffee had um looked at it, kind of consumed the packet and was actually quite pleased uh with the way that it was kind of laid out. So, I think that was a a good uh piece. Uh the next thing was um the financial reports. Um so, Felicia is not here. Um this does appear as so the financial reports have always been under reports. Um they just weren't listed as a standalone item. So, those are included. Felicia

is just talking out turn over there >> in there. So, do you want to record out >> you may have the floor? >> Did you know you have to fulfill it? >> Other than that, I think we're ready to move on. >> Uh, any questions or further discussion on reports? Okay, moving on to consent agenda. >> I move to approve the consent agenda. >> I'll second that. >> It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Dawn to approve the consent agenda. Any public comment >> for discussion? All those in favor say I. I. All opposed. Motion pass eight to zero. >> All right. Moving on to action items. New business. >> Human resource platform. Hiring committee met on September 19th uh to review the JPS human resource platform. Uh the recommendation is that the board

of trustees adopt the changes uh to the platform that are shown in the documents. Um I will just speak the the biggest change there was some kind of just cleanup um you know maybe a couple little grammar things kind of here and there. Um the biggest change was uh kind of taking out uh the uh a section subsection C that was in in that first part on the creation of a new position. Um we felt like when we at the time I think in 2023 it made a little bit more sense to us uh when it comes when it came to this idea of creating new positions. Um, and we we clarified it down to the certified level, um, the classified level. But then when we did a rereading of it, um, it felt like

that was a little bit too narrow in scope because we're not creating certified positions. Those positions already exist. Classified positions, those positions already exist. Uh what we were actually referring to were the positions above uh that we recently um adopted that if and when a position is added to the district that a or number one requires you know a transfer of funds or b there's a change to the organizational chart like a truly new position that we've never had here before. And the examples that we thought about were the daycare director. Um and when we created that position there was a num there was a number of kind of initial conversations. There was a committee hiring committee met to recommend to the full board the creation of this position. The full board approves the position.

Uh the assistant business manager um is almost the same type of process. It was a new position required a change to the organizational chart. That is what we were referring to um when creating new positions. Um, so those are in there. Um, we updated and just added uh the regular board meeting packet to include kind of posting for for current employment opportunities and um positions that we're currently seeking interest for. Uh we added in a background check acknowledgement into the packet. There's been a kind of a push at the legislative level to increase background checks. Uh so we wanted to include an acknowledgement of that just on the front end. Uh so folks know that um that is going to be a process they're going to have to go through. Um we talked about screening

applicants um and we added in this idea in the event that the number of qualified applicants greatly exceeds the number of openings. Um we discussed that if you only have one applicant for a position, there's probably not a reason to get together to screen the applicants um in in that moment. And one of the other discussions that we had was every search process, interview process and ultimately selection process might look a little different depending on the nature of the job, depending on the number of applicants that we have. Um so you know allowing for a little bit of variance in each of the um processes that we have. Um and then we added just at the bottom we felt we felt like the numbers when triggering another teacher and doing uh um making recommendations for

coaches the staffing guidelines on the numbers that felt more like an addendum at the bottom as opposed to something that needed to appear immediately in the packet. So, anybody from the hiring committee want to add in or or clarify anything? But, um, ultimately the recommendation is to approve the updated platform. >> Well, we did take out the exit interview. >> Oh, that's right. Yep. Yep. Thank you, Kathy. >> Um, what else? Oh, the offer is contingent upon successfully passing a background check too. We added >> Oh, and clarifying as well that the retention of materials hiring hiring process. >> I'll make a motion to approve those edits and changes. >> Second. It's been moved by Don and seconded by Craig to accept the changes to the JPS human resource platform. Any uh public comment board

discussion? All those in favor say I. I. >> I. >> All opposed. Motion pass 8 to zero. to personnel. >> Recommendation is uh from the activities committee is that the Jolly Board of Trustees hire Mr. Barry Rollson as the varsity head basketball coach for the 2526 season. >> I'll make that motion. >> Second. >> It's been moved by Don and seconded by Kelly to hire Barry Rollison for the varsity boys basketball head coach. Any public comment >> or discussion? >> My only question is then does the head coach and the athletic committee then they choose an assistant coach or is there one in place yet? >> No, not yet. Ultimately the board of trustees hire the assistant coaches. Um process is to take input from the head coach in conjunction with the athletic director in

the school administration. So once once the head is higher then we go to the next one. >> That's right. >> Yeah, that'll be the next one. >> Any other questions or discussion? >> All right. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. Motion passed 8 to zero. >> Personnel action report is included. Um we have positions for head assistant uh 78 and 56 uh girls basketball included in the packet. We have a recommendation for a uh additional custodian. Um and then we have a recommendation for assistant high school girls basketball. >> My only question is custodian is not paid by a stipen is it? >> It is not paid by a stipen. >> So that's a typo there. >> That is a typo. and I will find that rate. >> So, and

did you say that was an additional custodian >> other than a replacement? >> Additional. >> I'll entertain a motion. I'll make a motion. >> I'll second it. >> It's been moved by Jenny and seconded by Kathy to approve the personnel action report. Any public comment or discussion? Do we have to say that it's amended personnel action report with that wage? >> Yeah, with that adjustment you can say. >> Okay. So, >> I will say this came up at coffee this morning. I know we have a lot of middle school girls basketball coaches, but there's like 35 of them out, which is really exciting. So, I just want to make sure we all heard that there's a lot of girls there >> between five and eight. >> Yeah. And so, that's really exciting. Yeah, we really

And they're and they're working hard. So, I was really encouraged by that. >> Does Kelly vote on all these? I get confused what you get to vote on, what you don't. >> Yes. On all of these because we have issues from both with elementary. >> We didn't want to have to split anything. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> I knew you wouldn't speak up. You get embarrassed. >> Uh any other uh discussion or comments? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. A motion passed eight to zero. We have first reading on policy. Uh this is 1400. Uh as the district transitions meetings to the Simly Eboard solutions platform. Uh from a streamlining standpoint, uh all public notices can be made through the district's website. Uh the recommendation is the board

of trustees approved the first reading of policy 1400. Uh so in the in the module there you'll see that there's a um it's a pretty slick way um anytime we're doing policies it just pulls up a dropown menu. You can click the button and pull up the old one, look at the new one. Um and they as you can see they autopop populate in there. Um and then policy committee has the ability to you know recommend changes in there. Um >> and then the change is highlighted there too in the draft. >> And so previously um policy chair uh was doing all of that work in Adobe the highlight. Now it'll track all these changes really really slick. Um I think that really the benefit of of doing this is just to make sure that

we don't miss um you know posting because we're doing a number of committee meetings things um are changing especially over the summer months when you know we're trying to complete hiring things are kind of happening at that 48 hour um threshold. um if we just put everything here and we continue to to share out that this is the avenue in which all of these things are posted um if we don't end up getting it over to Facebook um that won't be a problem because everything's here in the assembly platform uh once and we started sharing this at coffee but we can share this a little bit widely too once folks get familiar with these platform they can sign up for a notification that anytime that we make a meeting uh public it'll kick them an

email so then they can go online and look and I think we'll get a lot of people that subscribe. I know that >> I probably will because I don't miss a meeting. >> That's right. I know that we have a lot of folks that subscribe to the YouTube uh channel like that too like oh they're going live but they just posted a new committee meeting. So I think that'll be a good change. >> I'll make that motion to approve that um first reading 1400. >> Okay. It's been moved by Don and seconded by Ken to approve uh the new 1400 policy or the updated 1400 policy. Any um public comment for discussion? All those in favor say I. I. >> I. >> All those opposed. Motion passed 8 to zero. So, the baseball cooperative >>

baseball cooperative agreement and there's also new information I'll share. Uh, the board discussed a potential baseball cooperative agreement with Columbus uh for a one-year cooperative spring 26 season. Uh, we did that last month at the September board meeting. A letter of interest was sent to Columbus. Uh, it's included in the packet for trustees review. Um, we also know that the Columbus School Board approved the baseball cooperative last Tuesday uh for again a one-year approval. Uh, recommendation is that um the board does the same. Um, a couple of other um just issues. uh financial obligation that if and we don't know these numbers, but my recommendation is that if Columbus charges a fee, they might charge 50 bucks, they might charge a hundred. You know, I don't think they'll charge anything unreasonable for students to participate.

I think we pass that off to the parents and the families that are opting to participate. Um the district will have no obligation to do that. Um so there won't be a financial uh hit on that front. The Red Lodge, who is also a part of the baseball cooperative, is running their bus. It goes right through Jolliad. Um, and what turns at the at the Columbus cut across. I'm sure that we can talk to Mr. Fitzgerald and they can swing in and grab the kids. So, there will not be a transportation obligation um to get kids over to to practices. Um, so I think it's a really good solution uh to maybe start to build some interest in baseball, which is just getting increasingly popular um everywhere. It's just a one-year option. We believe and

we have good reason to think that there will be the Carbon County Baseball Cooperative running in two years time that will be housed out of Bridger. I think that's a good option for for kids as well. Um, so again, one-year deal gives an opportunity to, you know, a handful of kids that might want that. Do you know how many Juliet kids are interested? >> I I know that we have one for sure. Um but when we did our survey um in the um in that was November uh of last year, we had four students express interest. So I would say that we'll get a handful. >> And it's still a try out >> situation in Columbus. >> I don't know. I I don't know if they're going to cut or if they have to try

out or how they go about building the teams, but we would have to go along with that, right? Like if the numbers exceed and they're going to run cuts and you know, but at least the kids have the opportunity. >> Is it high school only? >> High school only. Yeah. >> Do they even have a middle school team? >> I have not heard of middle school baseball running yet. And I think people could do that. They're probably going to Billings and Laurel and whatnot for that, right? >> Yeah. To, you know, and that might still be some little league, you know, juniors or whatever it is that that kind of runs at that level. >> So, does this all work out with Title N? So, we have as many opportunities for girls as boys. >>

Yes. Yeah. We're current we're currently plus one on girls. >> Is that with the softball? >> That's with girls wrestling. Wrestling. >> Yeah. Yeah. I move to approve the one-year co-op for baseball with Columbus. >> Second. >> Been moved by Ken and seconded by Kelly to approve the baseball cooperative agreement. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. Motion pass eight to zero. >> Old business, >> we don't have any second >> informationational >> monthly enrollment numbers are included. Um and the number that you see 390 is our fall count. Uh that will be the number that is submitted um into OPI that greatly affects uh budgeting uh for the upcoming year. Um so we did end up losing you know a handful of uh high school

students um since the beginning of the school year. Uh we are you know about flat in our elementary which is our K8. Um the the number will the number is down um also a little bit from two years ago. Uh so there will be some kind of budgetary things that we'll need to look at on you know how that um impacts the the long-term funding. Um we had a number of students that were um enrolled here um new students who have returned uh to to their home district um seem to be the trend um you know generally kind of just shaking out without getting into too many specifics um in in the high school. Uh, and I actually think that some of the numbers were not totally reflected in September. The September number might not

The September number was probably closer to um, and not not 398. But can I have homework for you on some budgetary projections because you like spreadsheets? >> I like spreadsheets. >> You like spreadsheets. Yeah. So when we look at that fiscal year 27 budget, we might assign you some homework to >> still on the board to start to do some projections for that. >> Am I still on the board? >> Because that'll help that'll really help us to, you know, hone in for negotiations and things like that. So >> employment opportunities um are also listed. Um some of those will come off. Uh we do include them just out of practice that you know they're not official until the board takes action. Um but all of our coaching positions now will come down and we'll

put up the next rounds. Custodian that'll also um come down. We might put on we might change to be like a substitute custodian or something like that just to see what kind of you know for interest. Um you continue to get substitute teachers uh paras bus route and bus subd drivers always looking for those. Um, I'm g I'll just shout out over to the folks over in Bramberg um with the activities uh co-op. Um been a really good cooperation and I know that um Marlene has done a lot of that work too just communicating on bus drivers sharing of the of the buses. Um Mr. Lowry who who was just hired he's he's stepping up in coaching. He's been involved in football. He's been involved in middle school BA girls basketball. um and and is

now going to be, you know, um involved in high school girls basketball. He he just does a really good job of communicating between uh between those two schools. Um and Bill Cody, one of their drivers over there, is is stepping up as well. So filling some of those voids that are out there. Um so I think that's been a a great partnership um to to help fill some of those employment opportunities that that we have available. building and grounds. Um we did the exterior walk last month. Um we were scheduled to do the interior walk but in light of senior night um and just some general happenings going on um in the building uh we we chose to delay that. Um I will share that we have SNK um we have an engineer coming uh

to the school tomorrow to assess the water um issue that is seeping in through the north side of the gym area. Um we're getting some some increasing levels of of water in there. um SNK were we reached out to the insurance company and they had previously um looked into a potential claim with this and they had really good documentation on that issue. It was actually denied as a claim in 2018. It did not meet the threshold for a flood um and it was ded to be you know construction construction error or um something along those lines. They did outline some short-term mitigation strategies uh that it looks to me were never tackled. So, I think it's actually a really good place to start with some of those short-term mitigation strategies, but we had pictures going

all the way back to um when Mr. Burmis was here. And there might be some people that were on the board during that time. Um they excavated that whole thing out 17 feet down. Um, so the pictures are actually pretty like there's a lot of work there. Um, and we're hoping not to have to redo that whole project. Um, but we're in communication with the engineering. They're coming back here tomorrow. And so we'll walk it. So next month we'll probably have a bigger update um for you on that. But we have a lot of standing water. There's those, if you ever look, if you're going into behind the concession stand going into the like the weight room area, there's two um test pipes, like PVC pipes that just go straight into the into the sidewalk

and down. Um and those were meant to gauge how much water is actually standing under there. And when you So, you just drop a whatever we've been dropping a garden hose in there and then you pull it up. there's anywhere from five to eight feet of standing water um underneath that building. Um so there's a lot of water coming down and then when you look north from the concession stand um what you'll see is that whole valley essentially draining right towards the new gym. Um so there's also a lot of water um you know just being funneled in that direction. So, we're also noticing some foundational cracks in the boys and girls locker rooms, um, which is concerning. So, it'll be I think it's going to be a tough pill to swallow um, if and

when, but we're going to have to take some serious action at some point in time. >> Is that the same engineer that came out in 2018? >> Same guy. We just thought it'd be a good place to start. I think we can get another opinion, you know, after that, but and we'll maybe do some research and get some more backtory. >> Drill a well. >> Yeah. Well, and so that's what we So, Steve had has bought a pump and so we're just going to drop because in the engineer's recommendation, it says that you can pump um water out of those tests. It's not going to solve the problem obviously, but we're going to start pumping that out. And I don't know if there's backtory here that you remember Don or >> I remember. >> Um,

but I was gonna ask Ken, when you guys built the new gym, was that a worry or was that >> that never even came up and that's why they had to excavate out behind because the engineers and the when they designed it never >> brought that up like this might be an issue so we should do it. They just it wasn't >> I can't remember if it was said that it was because of the irrigation ditch up there or if it was groundwater. I don't remember. >> Yeah. Jolly when they irrigate a lot of people's sums in their basement start up you know community center had that trouble too when when Garner would irrigate up there and would come in. >> So it it happens all across. Yeah. And I know when they irrigate up

here like Burmeisters and up in there, there's houses across this across the highway that get flooded that >> um so I will share the engineers report from so that was June of 2018. I think I was here um or maybe I was just arriving the next later that but I don't remember this actually coming to the board um when I was here but I I know that we have seen this before but yeah there's a number of short-term fixes um ultimately I think what they determined was the foundational material that the gym was placed on was not appropriate >> for you know the type of structure that was So that'll be something to contend with. Um hiring committee, that was the minutes from the human resource platform negotiations committee. We've heard updates u from folks

on on that matter. Any questions aboutformational discussion items? >> I guess I'll just point out just for anybody who may be wondering or looking for um the video or whatnot, we were supposed to have a budget meeting tonight, but we did not. So, that was cancelled. Correspondence correspondence. We included um just in light of the um article uh that appeared recently in the Billings Gazette uh Lead Enterprises uh we did include um the response um which was essentially the statement that the district made to uh the reporter um on that issue. So that issue um that letter is included for everybody's review. Um, also, um, you know, when when the article came out, uh, we communicated directly with staff. I shared the link that, you know, you might be hearing, um, a little bit about

this issue. Um, and I think for the most part, all of our community, all of our teachers, you know, we're somewhat aware of this issue, um, from, you know, a handful of years ago. But we just like to make the staff aware of it. And then we also shared um, this letter from Mr. involved in with our staff as well so they could just kind of see that this is the this was the legal uh advice and the legal recommendation that we were getting. Um I think there was you know to some extent an insinuation uh from the article that there was a cover up or um you know the appropriate steps were deliberately not taken. Um and that is in no way um the case. Um I think good conversations, good discussions were had.

Um and what what I communicated out to the staff on this issue was that every single issue from the very beginning um even up until now has been with kind of in light of um Amanda's statement earlier, what we truly believe are the best interests of the students um that are directly involved in the issue. Um so we've taken I think what we we believe um every effort to maintain their wishes um in in the process and um you know we continue to do that. We continue to ask our staff just to make sure to look after kids um if you're seeing any if you're seeing any concerns please communicate that out um so we can get everybody the support um that that they might need. Um but um we did want to just include

that um asformational for for the community. >> All right. Any further discussion on uh any of theformational discussion or correspondence issues? I would just like to applaud the the handling of these alleged incidents by the school administrators from a board perspective, community member perspective, parent and say you guys did a prompt response to this incident and it's very easy to criticize it after a ruling response has been done. Join And I think it was good that um this letter from Philip Martin got put into the the packet so that people can see. >> Was that shared with the Billings Gazette or the report like because I know it was also sent to the superintendent in >> Hel. >> Yeah. >> Because I did watch that video when they brought that up and it was like

>> wasn't done well. wasn't done appropriately wrong. >> Has there been any response from >> We have not heard it. >> Yeah, we have not heard. >> All right. Well, if there's nothing further, then uh we will move into our executive session. >> So, get to go. >> You did a good job. >> If anybody needs to take a quick bathroom break before we get going, we can do that. >> Did you bring Did Felicia leave us executive
