001We're going to go ahead and stand the pledge. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. We'll be starting with our consent agenda. Any questions on the minutes from last meeting? >> No. No. >> Deputy Lawrence. >> No. >> Oh, I just want to say I loved the extra mail with like the explanation of certain. >> Well, I thought things that might throw a flag. >> Yeah. So, >> that was really nice. That was very helpful. >> Good. Got you. >> We do not have any transportation contracts. You do have JB approvals. >> Uh JF was an employee and so that was kind of a clarity of retirement. I have to

002do some accounting with that. Okay. >> And the other one was a copy lease. Um it was being quoted to the miscellaneous fund and it should have been the general fund because originally when we got the ref we had a refund check. We tried to pay it all at once. They said no sent a refund check back because the fiscal year was closed out. out we had to put in the miscellaneous amount. So that's what we're paying it out of. Well, that sets quote or ended and so that's general fund work is budgeted. So yeah, they sent it back. We figured they wanted the interest. >> All right. Okay. >> And we do not have any other agreements to approve. >> I can get a motion for you to approve the consent agenda. >> I'd

003like a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? I >> I >> any opposed. >> Okay, we are going to move on to our student leadership team giving a student report. >> Thank you. >> I think Hi, my name's Riley. I'm in sixth grade and I I know my pause campaign runs through all of February and the leadership team will randomly go to his recesses and ask them if they know their pause and if they do then they'll receive a ticket which looks like this. The tickets are collected at the end of the month and then they'll randomly be selected for an extra lunches. My name's Hunter. I'm in seventh grade. And National History Day was this like last weekend on Saturday. And the people who are going to

004state are up on the board right there. And then there are seven individuals and teams that made it to state. And the competition is April 25th. And that's that all. Um we recently hosted a gold dance on February 5th and that was a pretty big su success for our school. Um we had over 150 people attend and we provided bullying face. So math counts we've had over the years we found out like our teams this year recently and there are 14 middle schoolers who will attend the math math counts. This will be happening on the 26th of February. >> She doesn't have any >> spelling be is tomorrow at 1:30 in the gym. The 15 top spellers from fourth through 8th grade are in the school spelling be >> and then the parents are welcome

005to come watch any parents even older siblings in them. >> Do you have any questions? >> You said the math counts. >> Math counts. What is it? So, it's like some of our like top people in math, they kind kind of make like a team and they go to a competition when they compete and if you make I don't remember the exact but you make top something you go to state and last year we had someone who played second in the state of Richard >> who was who happened to be Was it >> cool? Amanda. >> That's sort of like math leaves. >> Yeah. It's a big group of people that you can like apply for in middle school and then you can >> if you're like if you make it >> then you go

006to state or like >> do you get pencil I'm sorry. >> Do you get pencil and paper is all done in your head? it. There's different like competitions. I don't think it's one's pencil paper and then one's up here. >> Every grade in middle school. >> Yes. >> And they and first you like regional and then the winners get to go state. >> Yeah. >> That's terrific. >> I have one more question on your report. What are you using the money raised for from your go? Are we already we bought with it? >> Well, oh, we bought like >> So, we bought some like clothes stuff like we bought some stuff. Oh, >> so we replenished our funds. Yeah, basically. We did make a little bit, but >> So, is it supporting student body? >>

007Uh, we have a the lights. Yes. >> Yeah, like the club that puts it on. Is it student body? >> The club >> or like the Who organized it? >> Yeah. Oh, these guys we did leadership team. No, the student body didn't do it. Yeah, the student leadership team put it on. So, we used our other funds >> and that we had and then we bought those lights which are not very um cheap I guess. And then we've used those those donation sort of to back to the school days stuff with them and then I dance with them and then all the free we gave out to the kids and the paint and the pieces and all that came out of that. >> Great. We had a great time. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >>

008You're welcome. >> I just want to go to I I brought my daughter there and she had to go dance. So that was really going to move on to our guest comment section. Members of the public are fair to comment during this time regarding items not listed on the agenda. The chair will seek public comments on agenda items as current. By law, the board cannot action on matters discussed during the public comment portion of the meeting, but may include a matter raised during this time in a future agenda. The board would like to remind everyone to avoid commenting on private personnel matters, private student matters, and pending legal matters. Do we have any guest comments? This is >> Well, so I was going to hopefully have a student bring a sample. So, we're working on

009making cutting boards in my elective. Um, so I'm that's why I'm usually covered in glue and sawdust. Um, but once they are complete, I'll ask a couple of them to come to a meeting and show you guys their hard work. Um, it's been a process of, you know, using a lot of hand sanding. We tried using some of the mechanical tools, but they're rounding out edges that we don't want rounded out. So, we're kind of learning the hard way, but we're persevering through it. And I took some home to my husband. He goes, "These are good." I said, "Good." Cuz my father-in-law was the woodworker. And I go, "He'd be proud." So, um, so it was very fun. The kids are having a good time with it. So, we'll bring in some samples. >> Terrific.

010>> Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah. >> Did you know? All right. We will move on to our first action item. I believe we do not have any out of the district agreements to consider. So I would take a motion to stripe. I'll make a motion to strike. Second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Okay. With regard to action item B, review and possible action regarding administration's recommendation to trespass individual from Kyle School for the remainder of the 2526 school year. Pursuant to Montana law determined that the individual's rights of privacy clearly exceed the merits of public disclosure. At this time, I'm convening the board into an executive session and will ask that all individuals with the exception of the individuals involved, the administrator and the business manager, uh, please leave the room.

011It's me. Okay, we're going to reconvene an open session at 4:41. Yeah. Um, I would like to make a motion to trespass the individual discussed from Kylo School uh through January 7th of 2027. >> I like to second that motion. >> All in favor? I >> I. >> Any oppose? All right, we are moving on. And the next item on the agenda is the emergency operations plans. With regard to the emergency operation plan, pursuant to Montana law, I have determined that the school safety very much overweighs the public's right to know. So, at this time, I am convening the board in closed session. And we'll ask that all individuals with the exception of the administrator and the business manager please leave the room. >> It is 4:42. >> We will reopen into open session at

0125:03. >> Like to make a motion to adopt the the changes to our >> HC operations plan. I'll second. All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? >> All right. >> We are moving on to um we have a contract for Mrs. Eli for cross country perch. This is grades K through eight for the 2526 school year. Mrs. Young, did you want to say anything? So ultimately my position is just to be hoping the main coach with crowd control at our um that we've talked about last year with just crowd control and making sure we have our our students monitored in a very open busy area. So just to have another staff member there present. So >> any questions from the board? No. >> No. >> I would take a motion to accept Mary Eli

013as a cross country coach. One of the cross country coaches for the 256. >> I will make a motion to accept Mary Eli as a one of two cross country coaches. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Next item is um tika this year. We just need to fix that. It's just >> Oh, it should do that. Um just put Yeah, do it right now. Yeah, you could actually have the handwriting of let's have bits or something. Sorry. Can you come in? Apologies. >> Yes. Um I would take a motion um to accept TT counts as the second cross country vote for the 2526 school. >> I'll make a motion to accept counts as the cross country. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> I any oppose? >> Great. >>

014I have a question. Um because you you said that um you were going to be one of the coaches, right? And you're going to be assisting in the coach. That means that Tikica is the head coach. Is that >> Yes. Yep. She's the head coach that runs all the practices and I come along to just get exercise myself to be honest. Um, we are trying to reach out to some past, well, a past student of ours has reached out to me to try and help out with the program as well since they are part of the Flathead High School um, cross country team. So, we can hopefully build that connection there as well. >> Sure. >> Um, so yeah, >> awesome. Thank you. >> Yeah, Ter does a great job with those kits. So, we're

015going to move on to model policies. >> All right, Liz, I'm assuming you want the emergency procedure. >> I was kind of, but Hey, you will see quite a lot of policies being checked. We had maybe three meetings to get through it this time. >> It felt like yes meetings to get through it this time. Um >> it's fun. I love the policy committee. >> Yes. And I'm not being sarcastic. some changes. Um, some some are new, some just requiring a lot of changes based on law. Yes. >> Probably the one that impacts maybe community the most is that Mrs. English updated our facility use agreement and that conversation actually took more meetings than you would have believed because we just kept picking on things and adding to it. So, um hopefully that's those changes

016are good. Hopefully they're easier to implement. Really, we want to make our gym usable to the community, but certainly not at the expense of our staff. Um, we certainly don't want to ask staff members to please work an entire week and then show up on Sunday at 6 a.m. That's certainly not our goal. >> Trying to be flexible. We're trying to make the facilities usable, but um also >> not so protect the school property. immigrant protectable property of it. So that's why that form has a lot of um words on demand. We did this is for board. We now have policy 1700. Think all board members are getting familiar with that one. We now have a form that you can go ahead and fill out if you have a 1700 complaint. and his wording on

017the top that is straight out of the policy that says, you know, fill this out if someone's been in violation policy or law, not because you disagree with a decision. That was And so we wanted to put that right up, make sure that was um being >> Did you say not because you can't file a complaint just because you disagree with what was done? >> Oh, I see what you're saying. >> Yeah. Or file a complaint if you need to violate policy law. >> Yes, but not because you disagree. establish any policies that you wanted to point out? >> I don't think so. I didn't think so. They're all any policies on I think they're pretty straightforward. >> Yep. Nothing controversial nothing about you. Well, I don't but we've in the past we've had some

018that were very definitely I don't point out to the board because they involve >> there were no hot button issues in this one. Thank you. That's where I was. >> Um note though, our facility use agreement at the last time you voted on that policy this year. Um we did not foresee we saw like clubs wanting to use our gym once a week. Um and so that became kind of more prevalent when we're realizing how much gym space is not available countywide. So we have some people who have asked to use our gym three times a week who are also charging kids in a private fashion. So that's where that middle column has come in. So if you are charging kids to be part of your program, we're going to charge you to use our

019facility. If you are offering that service for free to students, we're not going to charge you. Seems more clear. Are you are you talking about um charging a because there's a big difference so I just want to clarify a club fee or a like practice clinic fee for that specific date they're using the gym >> any of it so they're charging a club fee. >> Yeah. >> Gotcha. cuz we have a club who's using it three times a week right now and would that's why they're choosing to use our gem because we're not we're the only ones that would not be charging them for that. >> Yes. >> But that's a lot of wear and tear on our phone for >> right >> that we'll have to start banking money. Yeah. >> Any questions of

020any of the policies? Um, assuming that I know which club you're talking about, um, do we need to reward anything that says we don't charge nonprofits because they are nonprofits? >> We just said that's why the wording's the exact same. If you're charging, doesn't matter. If you are charging kids to use it, we're going. >> Okay. I just want to make sure we are covered. >> Yeah. Yeah, good catch. It definitely nonprofit in two columns and distinguishes between fee. >> Yeah. Yep. Good catch. >> And then we're going to honor the contracts that are currently in place through the idea would be to honor those through February and then have those people reassess for March. Yeah. >> April and May. >> That seemed fair. >> That is a very inexpensive usage fee as well. Well

021done. I was going through these like I agree with this. This is great. Thank you. >> Great. I would take um sorry Nick I'm covering. I would take a motion to adopt the listed policies. I will make a motion to adopt the listed policy. >> I say none. >> All in favor? >> I I >> Any oppose? >> Last action item. Resolution Flathead County Election Department for 2027. >> Um this is just asking for the election department to run our election again. And then this will go to them and then they'll come back with an agreement. We need a motion. >> Yes. >> To what? >> Ask the election department to run our election next year. >> I'd like to make a motion to ask our elections department to run our elections this next year.

022>> I will second that. All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? We're going to move on to our information items. Followup discussion on the CBA, which is the certified bargaining agreement with the teachers, section 9.4. >> So, at the last meeting, um it was asked, you know, well, how far did this um article go back? And so, I researched it back and um the files weren't great when I first started. So, I was able to find the year I started and it was that the article was put in. And I think the reason they used um uh that transcripts would be mailed is because back then we didn't have the electronic capability we have now. And so that's that's as far back as I could find in my records. So >> So this has

023to do with the transcripts when they're trying to >> correct. One of the things that we do at the hospital because we have people working on those sorts of things also to get additional compensation will accept their a print out of their transcript and then they have x amount of time to get us >> the the actual transcript the official >> that's all bargaining stuff. >> Yeah. And we'll be taking that to or we might taken that negotiation. >> Yeah. So the question I think was you know we had a grace period right and I think where we kind of came to the conclusion was we have a two-month grace period because you used to have to print it and shove it in the mail. >> Sure. >> So I think that's when we went

024back we were like oh that yeah that was >> we didn't have Yeah. Well let me tell you when I first started the computer was still in the box. There were no computers. >> Yeah. >> No email. >> Yeah. >> When I started for my company no internet no email. No voicemail. Yeah. >> None of it. That's the update. Okay. Okay. Um the board has received No, I will be sending out Sorry. >> No, I'm going to be sending out um the business manager clerk evaluation. It will be an email that you'll receive. It's a pretty easy format to fill out. Um your responses are anonymous. I was supposed to say unanimous anonymous. and I will collect those. We will enter into close session. We will review those as board and then we will discuss

025with Sharon. >> You might not decide at our last one that we were maybe not going to have them anonymous after the last issue. >> Yeah. I So I think what we did was we on the bottom said like if you're going to put anything less than yay, you need to state reason >> but not who it's from. Yeah, but that's up to the board. Of course, that's open for discussion. >> It's a catch 22. If you can do it anonymously, you tend to get a little more um >> openness. But on the flip side, then that doesn't really give the person who's getting a potentially negative comment >> an opportunity to say, "Well, yeah, but here's what the situation was >> with that particular thing." So, it's been kind of torn on that one.

026>> Just so you guys are aware, can I discuss what was previous? >> Yeah. >> Um, there was just a development that was made that seemed maybe not >> they should have some follow. >> Yes. And then, um, nobody wanted to own it. So, we just thought that maybe we should not have it be anonymous, but then >> the bigger somebody probably hit the wrong button. >> Yes. Yeah. >> Yeah. Because if there's something that needs improvement, I'd like to know it needs improvement, right? You know. >> Yeah. Yeah. And so that's the only reason we discussed about maybe not making it anonymous. >> I mean, it doesn't matter. >> Okay. >> Preference. No preference. >> No, I don't have preference. >> I I'm I'm I'm the same way. buy and they tell me I'd

027rather you tell me >> Exactly. >> than somebody like writing an open shell under my nose. >> Yeah. Yeah. And and and that's that's kind of the other side of of of it is if I'm going to make a negative comment, if I'm going to say, you know, Abe needs to do this better, I need to own what I'm saying. >> Now, personally, I have no issue doing that. But they've done and they've done it both ways. What I liked was each individual person turned in their eval. This is newspaper and then as a board the board would present one >> but then there was backup underneath it. >> I just look for an email that Yep. >> Great. >> Yeah. And the fun thing is currently me because they are anonymous. I bug everybody

028until I have all of them because I don't know who to bug. So, but I do apologize in advance, but you'll be getting like the Hey, we did receive the letter of intent to negotiate from our business just did receive our letter of intent to negotiate from our administrator. Thank you for getting that in. We did receive a letter to negotiate from the pilot teachers association and the first meeting has been set on that because it's a group intentional about getting that on the calendar because you have to line up a lot of schedules. The um first meeting will be the 17th after the 30th. >> Uh February. >> Yep. Next information item, after school program retirement resignation of Theo Gi, you want to speak on that? >> Um, I've emailed you on that, but

029Theo um spent 10 years and a decade in our after school program and just thank her for her time at Kylie School. >> Okay. >> Which is terrific. They didn't put it over yet. What are we doing? But the school program >> currently um we have the month of February substituted out with current working staff members. >> Yeah. >> Um and our position has been posted and there is one or more applicant. So we're just waiting to see about pool um and interviewing. Great. future. I don't want anybody get burned out and I think you're doing it too. >> Thank you. >> It's a really important program for our school because we don't have buses, especially our vocation. Yeah. But it is something that we need to be careful as a community to also not

030take advantage of. Makes >> sense. The next information item, information item G, PAR professional retirement resignation at the end of this school year. Miss Kim Bertrram. >> Yeah, Miss Kim had a longstanding history and education. Um, was actually an occupational therapist, which is amazing. And that background transferred to Glacier High School as a pair professional. and then she moved out here and has decided she's well she went part-time this year and she's decided she's going to go full time with iron mode she's going to finish out in contract so she announced that to staff at our last out um left Miss Kim and hope she gets on the sub list yes I love Miss Kim All right we're going to move on to our principal group. >> I should have looked at technology before Your

031guys just do these now after the update. >> I haven't used mine since update. So mine doesn't do that. >> Invite yourself. >> I will tell you approve myself. Oh, >> there we go. All right. Did not glitch out though during our time earlier today. Did you guys notice that? That was kind of exciting. >> All right. Um, not necessarily a spring enrollment update, but that was posted on the agenda. So, spring is included in there and highlighted. Um, I just wanted to give you a little historical background, a four-year look back. Sharon, Judy got that for me just so you can see our enrollment numbers and those were the official numbers that were reported to the state. So for this coming school year, these are the three years that will be used when they're

032looking at next year's budget because it's a three-year look back, >> but it's going to essentially be well a little better than the previous three years that were looked at were this year. So just keeping those flip-flop in mind. Um we didn't have a big spring dip like we've had in some years in the past which has been really nice. Um and numbers are up right before CO I remember we were almost at 205 so we're back to almost pre-COVID years which is really great for our budgeting purposes and our staffing um formal evaluation update. So, we have eight certified staff who are in an evaluation cycle this year. Um, five non-tenured, which means they're evaluated twice. Um, the first evaluation is complete for everybody. And then half of that crew has already requested dates.

033the others are getting back to me, but all of our non-tenured evaluations will be complete by February 20th, so that we have the last week of February to do our post observation meetings. Um, and then our three tenur staff are all completed with their evaluations. I just have one post evaluation meeting to conduct and go through. So, we are sitting good. >> Are we evaluating tenure step annually? Um, by annually or is that two year? >> Annually. >> It's every two years. Every two years. >> That's in there. CDA. >> I think it says at least. >> So, you can change it. >> Yeah, that was something that we was the big thing in our negotiations last year. At least >> so that should there be a need. This year there's three of them that

034have been evaluated and I don't plan to do any others um this year. So it's a lot with five non-tenured staff. So maybe if our non-tenured staff, we do have two that will be tenured next year. So that will hopefully be a shrinking number with retention. Um, but as long as non-tenured staff numbers stay high, the number of tenur staff are going to be minimum because it's three meetings per evaluation. Um, essentially >> um some staffing considerations. So this year we did not fill a point6 middle school staff. I did present these numbers to our certified well actually all staff at our last early out. Um just some things to think about. So uh 6 FE in the middle school that was unfilled this year um cost the district if they're a new hire between

03525 and $34,000. And that does not increase our A and B at all. It just differently services the kids that we already have. If we were to add instead in lie of a6 middle school FTE a for second grade combo class um that FTE the full FTE about 43 to $56,000 but if we could fill that class with brand new A and B that would bring in $126,000 to our general fund. Um, so those are things to consider when our K12 classes are continuously full. Um, at what point is our out of district numbers could supplement this additional one two combo class? And then if you're thinking long term, our third grade is always underfilled because they bump up to 28 from the 20 kids. So, we are not planning for the future when we're

036restricting our one two enrollments. Um, but we're also any of those additional one two kids that we can have that are second graders would supplement our third grade and make them whole. So if we were to get it to 18, that would essentially be the eight um in each grade um and then plus two from the current classroom. So the current first second grades would be smaller and then we would have a one two also small class. >> Where would you put them? >> Well, that room is unfilled right now cuz that was the middle full staff room. So, we would shift and then it would essentially be in the third grade room. >> I like that. >> But all those considerations with some more formal numbers will be brought to you for the March

037meeting. I just wanted to give you a heads up. These are things we need to think about. >> Um I always say the hiring window is spring break and if you miss spring break, you're missing the first round hires. >> Um you're getting displaced people or um people that didn't earn an interview or made a late decision. um and I want to know what we're doing or what we're putting out there prior to that. I've also let staff know that everyone will know if they're coming for a recommendation of contract renewal by that time as well. So that's one of the reasons all of your evaluations when I was here before we switched it in that they were done by March so that people also knew that. >> Um and then what are we going

038to leave unfilled? So, we have just talked about Kim um not returning next year. That's 6 for APA. So, we need to re-evaluate these positions. That's an kind of administrative rule, but we need to make it as a team because it could greatly impact where we're at and what we do. So, just for a heads up, if we were to break even in that one, two combo class, we would need eight students above what we currently have to sort of have it be a wash for the school year. We currently have three students who are on the wait list and out of district enrollments for those three classes in A12. Um, so there's essentially two right there. One to fill into the room. But if we didn't fill the PAR support, we would need less

039Paris support in the K12 classrooms if they were small is also the idea. So what are we filling or reposting or what are we leaving them filled for next year will all be brought to you or do we just not want a onew combo for next year or a 6 middle? We've swear we're at some other people come back whole and economical. >> How would you determine who went into the one two combo? >> I would love to have an opportunity at some point in their K8 career to say the two of you did not work well together this year and I'm going to provide you an opportunity to not be together all day every day. Um those considerations would be made as a probably a K123 team. Um probably title counseling staff would be

040present um and then it would be an administrative final decision. But would you look at it as a standpoint of um this first graders advance they should be in one two this second graders maybe getting left behind a little bit. >> I think all those if we looked at um kind of that triangle of data we were talking about at the last meeting. So, not just your academics, you not just the narrative from the teachers, but let's also come in with behavioral data like attendance, um, referrals to the office, daily activity in the classroom, >> right? And make those decisions holistically rather than you're high, let's stick you only in second and put our middles in one, two, >> and our lows in first. Like we need to also there's data that tracking kids like

041that is not helpful in some respects. >> Sure. >> And you know if you don't have the kids who are always raising their hand sitting right next to you, you're less likely to start raising >> type thing. >> Um but all of those would be really exciting and um interesting discussions that we've never had the opportunity to have at the school which is something else to consider. But there is a possibility we open that class, we hire a teacher and we don't break even. The FT is or the A and B is not there to make that a solid decision. >> So if our out of district enrollments were like five on the wait list for those, that's a pretty no-brainer moment. But this might be something you would need to look at as a

042building. like we might take a hit the first year, but when the word got out and we didn't deny all of the kinders, right? >> And we didn't deny all the firsts that then are used to going to a different school, they might stay and or come back. >> Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Maybe we have on the wait list because they know there's a wait list and they're probably not going to get in. Mhm. So that data I've been kind of struggling in my mind how to get to you because that is what you would need to make an informed decision. >> Sure. >> Um so if you have ideas on that, let me know. It might just be a look at um that county superintendent kind of inn-out list like which Kylo

043kids are going to different districts. We could do an active outreach like, "Hey, this class is opening, just so you know." Um, but you'd be people we had to deny in the >> previous, right? But it's not just about that first second combo class. It's I'm really like that third grade class. We just shoot ourselves in the foot every year. We're we max out at 20 and then we can be at 28 and they're already three years at another school if they sort of like it or then have a kinder sibling. They're not going to Yeah. So anyways, could be times a changing or it could be something we consider for next year. Um but that will be some a moment of discussion for you guys with some actual numbers and data for next time.

044Just wanted to plant the seed. Um oh and then for negotiations though like for par positions that are unfilled when we're talking about um like outdoor duty time and all of that. So, those are things that are kind of the domino ripple effect of making a budgetary decision. Um, we saw our title presentation last month. What would those numbers look like if we didn't have three of those pull out groups that are supported by the staff members? Committee updates. Committees have been busy in the month of January. um safety, security, long range facility plan committee. We have condensed to slurf. Um and they have met so many times, but our last meeting was on the 22nd. Um and again, shout out to that team for the immense amount of work they have been doing. The

045curriculum committee met on the 28th. Um, that one was kind of just an eyeopener to everything that we don't know that we definitely need to get a grasp on and know. Um, and it's sort of a cart before the horse. We don't have all of our prioritized standards and all of our grade levels just yet or sorry, all we have in all of our grade levels, but not all of our um subjects. So, we need to definitely realign with our standards. But two of those major groups excuse me, are changing for next school year. So, at what point is a really good time to dig into doing those? It's probably not this year to use them for three more months and then have to redo them, but then is your curriculum aligned to your priority

046standards. And then when we get to budget committee, if you're not using the curriculum that we have purchased for you, like little workbooks, and instead you're making oodles of copies, we're double paying for one curriculum. So, it's sort of like we need to get all these things on the table and discuss because we're way over on copies from what we've budgeted this year. We're paying for curriculum that people are not using. And so, what are we going to renew? but what is aligned to priority standards and how do you prove that to me if you're not using the curriculum that we've purchased for all the difficult conversations we're having right now. >> Um and then budget committee just kind of did an overview um and then we'll reconvene on the 4th after numbers are given

047to us on the second. >> Yes. >> Um which will be exciting. And then calendar committee met for the first time yesterday. there's anything that can get a gal excited, it would be the calendar committee. And um we got pretty pumped about discussion. So we will send out um a parent survey actually. Um some of the discussion was having more early out time. I don't have enough time to meet with staff right now. Um staff are giving up lunch periods to have like gradeband meetings. So K2 35 68 um certain staff are having to give up 60% of their 15 minutes before the school day starts in that 15 minute prep window which is very inequitable to me. Um but they've all agreed to do it. Um but not everyone. So it's just an expectation

048of a crew that maybe well I've just very been very vocal about it and I'm doing that in a public meeting now that those things would not be happening. The staff that meets for those SST meetings, student success team meetings we talked about last month are some of like the most intense proactive work that you can do before school starts to help a kid have a good day. and instead we're sitting in meetings talking about the kids rather than doing the work, which is not an awesome feeling. >> But to have your administrator and counselor and behavior specialist who those are the people parents are texting after hours, I'll be in a meeting and not like know a kid is coming after so and so happens last night is not great. So for calendar committee,

049if we did a full day early out once a month or if we had more early outs, what does that look like? What are our start dates? Um, and parents are going to be surveyed on like one full day a month versus half more half days. But would a half day then? We're not going to actually ask about when would your half day start, but if we did more of them, they could be at 1:30 instead of one. And then I gave the staff the um aggreate hours spreadsheet um created for last year's calendar. >> Um so when they're making these draft calendars to bring to our next meeting, they can actually just check and make sure we're going to meet our minutes for the state. So in the state it's how many minutes they're

050in the seat not how many days they go to school. >> Um so they have to check that themselves and then we will bring at the March meeting um one recommended option and two options of that option um for you guys to make a decision on or consider it. >> Who's the board member on that committee? >> Um me watch fourth grade. They were very they were very excited in all different ways yesterday and I decided that I'm an observer in this whole process. >> Just watch >> I'm gonna go Lissy's >> watch the minutes on fourth grade. That's what we always need to publish. >> Fourth grade. >> It's me and Mascow. >> Mascow, Linda. >> All right. Upcoming events. I keep forgetting that student leadership team is going to talk about most of

051them, but very exciting things happened that I still want to highlight. and then are happening National History Day. You heard um Mr. Conover brought that to Kyla school. It's been really successful there. The kids were really excited to do that. And that's more of like a project-based learning activity in the classroom. So, the topic is their choice. They do it as their history curriculum. Um and then they get to go present it. And that many kids is phenomenal. So 66 ended up competing and that many made at the state for us which is in Boseman. >> Um spelling bees tomorrow and tonight actually is flathead registration for our eighth graders. They get to go on the 18th do an orientation trip to see the school and then Miss Barrett and Mr. Conover take them to

052lunch and then they come back. Um, math counts the regional competition is at FBCC and our kids go on the 24th. It's a busy month for doing extra academicy things which is always exciting. And then read across America month is also paired with a spirit week this year. So that will be the first week of March. And those are all kind of book themed like dress as your favorite book character fun stuff. Um, Miss Iverson's title math or title reading night. I was gonna say math reading. That wasn't there. >> Title reading night is the fourth. >> Yes. >> From 3:30 to 5:00. It didn't make it on here. Um, but please come. That's in the gym. That one is also game oriented. Everybody gets a book and a goodie bag. You want to plug

053your event? >> You want to add anything to the plug? I was like, I should probably talk about the guest comment bit. Am I just Oh, yeah. Um, I'm excited for this one. My plan this time with this one was to we tried it late at night. Now I'd like to try in classrooms. So now so I can compare the math reading night with the reading night math speak sorry >> math night with reading night. So this time we're doing it right after school to see if that's a better turnout for parents and easier since they're already here. um and have it in the gym and kind of just try to open up. Um PTA was great. They're donating a couple things for the goodie bag. Um I think the kitchen's also going to make

054a treat for everybody as well. So kind of try to make it a little more I don't know fun and exciting. Wanted to also you I started hanging up the signs, but bring a book to share a book. So like you bring a book and kind of like the library situation that you with all the little libraries like bring book you want to trade in and just bring some new ideas on how you can integrate it. >> So I'm excited for it. events. I have like a 20page dock running. >> And then those two events are going to make it onto the calendar for next year. And they will be two of those four events that certified staff are expected to go to that are then on the calendar for those of you negotiating facility

055updates. Um, new water filters and the water things, new light bulbs. the I found out this morning that there is a leak in the gym roof just in one panel probably from the hail storm. Um and it appears to be a slow leak external wall. So you just had a board or a parent come to me yesterday saying he's a riffer and he would give us a heck of a deal. >> Oh boy. >> Nice. >> Um and then long range facility plan is going to be a major talking point next month. we really need to start making some decisions now that the SSLRFP can transition to just the LRFP committee. Um, McKinstry did come out and meet with me was very exciting. Um, and they're hoping potentially that they could turn this into one

056building with an additional classroom and additional bathrooms for what under what we have in all of our reserves and make it a secure vestibule at the office door. So, we would actually be a secure facility. That construction probably wouldn't be able to come to fruition until next summer. Um, but we still need to start making plans and get bids and some drawings, but you guys are going to need to start making some decisions if that's where you want to spend money with. >> Are they considering soft considering the best women? >> Um, well, it's the external walls, which we've not had a problem with, but they'll have to they know that it's there. But we found out that it wasn't there on the bathroom wall. That's true. >> After a painstakingly closing the office for

057I don't remember. >> But that is Yeah. Thank you. >> nomination update. We had two people put in >> um Yes. Kyle will not have to have an election. We had two positions. Two people um put in their forms. Nick Blanch, Harold Newman um also put in um so that's our update. you can't cancel the election until after March 2nd because of what's called right of candidates. Um and then we're also getting a hold of OPI. I put some um the election department gave us some term dates that school districts have they don't do. Usually the May board meeting is when your new trustee. So we're just getting some clarification in that. >> That's it. Um, our next meeting is March 11th at 3:30. I will um ask for a motion to adjourn our meeting.

058>> I'll make a motion to adjourn the meeting today. >> I will second that. All in favor? >> Any opposed? >> Yes, I'm watching my good com. say. So,
