001Mhm. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> You good? >> I I just want to make sure >> Okay. I did. >> Oh, perfect. >> Lynch. >> Okay. Yeah, I don't know. I don't >> I should have brought my umbrella. >> And how old? >> [clears throat] >> Do you want me to do the pledge? Uh we are short one house, so we are going to do district reports until that student gets here. All right, can you wait? Facilities. >> Good morning, everyone. >> Good morning. >> Um I think it is spring, so we started our spring PMs. So, I was like working on the campus, but our annual
003deep cleaning notes. After we complete everything we need to do for the spring, Do you have any questions? >> Thank you, Mark, as always. Let's uh can you keep the plows on as long as >> We're very humorous here at the maintenance department. They will plow the lots tonight. >> I'm pretty sure that's why we had such a Uh primary newsletter. >> Hi, everybody. I just put that out there so that you could go on that little QR code if you like. When you have time, not right now. It's totally okay. Um our specialists send newsletters home every trimester, so this is just an example of one. This is from Ms. Campbell. You can see that March Book Madness is happening right now along with March Madness. Um the live book bracket is cool if
004you'd like to check that out. The book fair will be held the first week of May. And the librarians do this to align with spring concert. >> Wait, this is March, isn't it? >> Yes. Oh, Emily Campbell. Hello. Um we're all >> having a guest author, so she's coming to read her book to students at the end of the month. Her name is Edie Vogel. Um we're having cookies with the counselor at the end of the month, so Mr. Oliver is going to host um every class from every grade level. Their parents can come have cookies in the afternoon. She's going to talk about how to support emotional awareness and coping skills. The [clears throat] zones of regulation. So cookies, learning, and a craft to help them with calming strategies. So that should be fun.
005Mr. Sumner is busy on pickleball volleyball team games and making sure everybody can tie their shoes. So that's keeping him busy in spring. Mr. Lane has been working with the kids on designing and building leprechaun traps. And Mr. S is of course getting ready for spring concerts. Um first grade had a field trip today to Alberta Bair. They went to see the Tortoise and the Hare. The transportation was paid for by a donation from Opportunity Bank of Montana. And they also donated the cost of 10 admissions, so we want to thank them for that. That was brought to us by a first grade parent. So that's awesome. And then just what we have coming up. We have We're going to be getting ready for kindergarten screening, which will be held April 7th. That's all I
006have. Any questions? >> Thank you. Intermediate. >> This is Mr. Oliver and Mr. Lane are out. And she has a district quote. Uh overview. Busy month of February with state mandated testing, the Flathead Spring Maker Trike Battle of the Books competition, and lots of learning, playing, and we cannot believe it's over. Uh thank you to the three Battle of the Books participants. Aladdin tryouts, we had 183 fifth grade tryouts for various parts of the Aladdin spring play. Thank you, Mrs. Jess, for putting forth all the effort and time. In the nurse's office, allowing students to use the classroom during lunches and practice. Positive behavior referrals, we have 21 students who are nominated by staff members for showing empathy and understanding others' feelings during the month of February. Club club levels. Lunch and learn with the
007counselors, Mrs. Prescott hosted three different lunches for parents, students, and families to provide information on attendance and mental health supports that our school can offer. We had 170 170, excuse me, parents attend. It was a great way to get families in the building. We hope everyone enjoyed their time. Please reach out if you have any other questions. Uh middle school. >> Hello, everybody. Um so, this uh this past month was great at E.J.M.S. Uh for our house games, Alcatraz won the February house games for earning the most points. Uh our attendance competition that we have between the houses, Alcatraz also came on top. Uh it it is uh 90.54%. Uh we had this past month we had the Alphas house party that Kaylee, who's one of our staff house leaders, uh put with her other
008staff and and and our student leaders put together and it's a great turnout. We had uh I think over 40 parents and and 40 uh students come. It was great great turnout with that. They had a lot of fun. Uh we have uh an Isibindi uh party set for this Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Um we had a uh sixth place finisher in the county spelling bee, Elizabeth Saunders, did a great job of representing our school district. Uh we had a number of students compete, both to be exact, in the the math counts competition that Mrs. Shannon took two students to. They did a great job competing in that. Uh Miss Egg uh put on our Battle of Books competition and they actually placed 10 10th place finishers in the state competition, which is
009great. Uh our ski trip, we um have only the sixth graders left on March 23rd. Our last one we had we uh had a few injuries in that unfortunately, but uh the kids had a great time. Thankful that that we were able to do that. Um The Since the last board meeting we also had a a house door door decorating contest that a number of board members came and and voted and community members came and then voted on as well. Um and then Mrs. Bowman's door won the community vote as the best door for the house on side. Um and our academic success team currently is breaking down our map reading and uh math results from fall to winter using branching minds, which is uh a new program that we've kind of uh installed to
010kind of bring the behavior and the academics stuff together into one location. Uh that's um giving us a lot of really good data. So, any questions for the board about any of that? Then I can introduce uh some of our presenters. After Mrs. Fogle. >> Come to me when you're ready to walk. >> Ready? >> If they're ready. If if they're ready. >> You guys ready? Okay. I'll Mrs. Canfield is here. She's our middle school success and alignment force teacher and uh she's also the head of House of Birds. So, I'll kind of walk her through and introduce the students and kind of go from there. And this is Mr. Chrisman has the power person. Can you pull it up? >> If that's all right, we're going to come up a little to you, right?
011>> Yes, please do. >> Okay. Um so Should I just do I answer? >> Just tell me when you need me to say one back. >> Okay. >> [laughter] >> Uh so we are the lion mentors, we're a dynamic group of student leaders within the middle school. Um it has changed. I started 3 years ago and these guys have had the first opportunity to run our house systems. So you'll see they're all wearing their house jackets. They are not only lion mentors, but they are house leaders. So they are um selected. Uh there's an interview process. They have to fill out an application and then there's teacher referrals at the point faces and some that are selected and so they are some of the best leaders within our middle school. Today they're going to talk
012to you guys about our house system. And so I have them up here. We have Addy with Isibindi. We have Bentley with River. Um Maddie with Altruismo and Nene with Amistad. They have come up with a presentation to show to you guys today. They're going to talk about their house, why you should be part of their house cuz they're trying to get you guys to join their house. And then they'll talk a little bit about the leadership um development of themselves as well as the students within their houses. So I'm going to turn it over um to Addy who's our first presenter. And so who's running our slides? So if you could just look at them when you need that that slide changed. >> Right. Good evening, everyone. My name is Addy Rivers. I'm the
013house leader for Isibindi. So during my presentation, I will be discussing our house crest, our house animals, um our March events, and why Isibindi is the best, and why y'all should join. All right. So the lion in this one is our um um house animals and students in our house are full of qualities from both of them. The students that um are within this house, they learn how to use their creativeness to be a great leader within our school. Isibindi wel- welcomes quiet kids and turns them into leaders that will use their voice in volumes that will impact the school for good. All right. Our house crest, it contains the mute swan which stands for silent courage, the lion which stands for courage, strength, and family, the Zulu ax which is for keeping your stance
014on something you believe in. Um the ebony tree shows that we care about our origin. The color green shows our growth and all of these symbols represent the students, teachers, and families that are involved in this amazing team. Our sign is also this and it's our who you with sign. >> Who you with? All right. >> [laughter] >> So, our merch events contain our Bindi Bash where we'll have drinks, uh food, games, and shenanigans, but you'll have to join our house to figure out what those are. Now, we also have the Swan and Sip Society which is a morning event where Isibindi students and their families are welcome to drinks and snacks. Um we also have or we've had a drum line and a bagpipe player come to welcome everybody into the school. All right.
015[clears throat] This is why you should choose Isibindi. So, not only is it the best house, students build uh and grow in courage, strength, and success. Isibindi is a family and we share our opinions, embrace creativity, and care about the members' happiness, comfort, and safety. Those that are new to Isibindi face challenges with great focus and strength. They stick to their principles and are brave enough to stick for what is right. Isibindi encourages shy kids to speak in volumes. Therefore, middle school is important. It is where students begin their journey into choosing who they are and who they will become. House Isibindi gives the courage to or gives them the courage to stand up uh gives them the strength to continue their ventures and a family at school who protects one another. It turns bystanders
016into upstanders and students into a family. Therefore, choose Isibindi. Be a true Lockwood Lion. >> All right. So, now you'll hear from Maddie about Altruismo. >> Um good evening. My name is Maddie Kennedy >> and I'm the proud house leader for House Altruismo. Altruismo is the house of givers. This is our house crest. The heart is at the top of the crest because that's where kindness, generosity, and purity is born. The griffin represents strength, grace, and fierceness that comes from giving. And our house color represents prestige and our goal to empower everyone. Our house is filled with talent and we love to win. These are our hand signs. This one is the snake. And then the next one is the diamond which represents um the diamond shield. Um our house comes from Brazil which in
017Altruismo means the the givers in Portuguese. Uh this is our house animal, the snake. It represents wisdom and energy. In the House of Altruismo, we are more than just a team. We are a family. Our purpose is to create a community where students can support one another, practice what practice leadership, and grow through kindness and service. We believe that since we lift each other up, the entire school becomes stronger. As in a of weeks, we'll be having our first house party. We'll be watching the movie Wonder, and we would love for you to come. Thank you for your time. If you think anything that I just talked about applies to you, we would love for you to come join our house. If anyone has any questions, I would love to answer them now. >> When
018is the movie? >> [laughter] >> Okay. Hi, everyone. My name is Nene, and I'm truly honored to be the house leader of the house of Amistad. Amistad is the house of friendship, and we believe that everyone has unique gifts. And when those gifts come together, they create something powerful and beautiful. Our house color is red. Red represents the kindness in our hearts, but it also represents courage and strength. We believe that we have to be bold in showing love, brave in standing up for one another, and strong in protecting the friendships we build. Our house crest tells the story of our values. At the top, you can see a knight, who serves as a protector of our house, but it also represents honor, bravery, and leadership. Underneath, like towards the bottom, is a castle. The
019castle symbolizes protection, but it also symbolizes a strong foundation. Just like a castle has a strong base to stand tall, our friendships are Our friendships have a foundation built of trust, respect, and loyalty. Also on our crest are the crossed keys, which represent unlocking the gateway to friendship, and they remind us that friendship is something we leave open in your journey. Our Our house animal is the peacock. The peacock represents protection, resilience, and everlasting spirit of love. The peacock stands tall and confident, reminding us to carry ourselves with pride, while staying true to who we are. All houses have house signs. Our first one is the heart, and it represents our core values, which are kindness, love, and of course friendship. And our second one is the cross of keys, which yes, represent a welcoming
020gateway to friendship, but they also represent kindness, purity, and generosity. Amistad has already had That's That's all the slides. Sorry. Amistad has already had our house party, like Mr. Wyatt said. It was the heart of the school, using hearts with positive messages on them. We also had friendship bracelet making, and we had a popcorn bar. And we called it Amistad after hours. The house of Amistad is more than just a house, it's a family. It's a promise that no one stands alone. Together we lead with kindness, we protect one another, and we build friendships that last. If you feel like I've described you, join Amistad and be a part of our family. At this time, I welcome any questions you may have. >> Hello everyone. My name is Bentley, and I'm the house leader of
021Revere. During this presentation, I will be talking about what Revere actually is, the symbolism in our crest, and why you should join Revere. So, what is Revere? Revere is the house that supports the idea of following your dreams. Revere actually does mean dreamer or idealist in French. Members of our house are encouraged to follow their dreams and bold personalities. Revere's colors color color represents boldness, confidence, and passion. Um our crest. The knight represents nobility. The open vision helmet facing forward is often reserved for the highest ranks. The unicorn is not only mystical, it's also a symbol of freedom, healing, and beauty. The crescent moon is the first look of the moon during the moon cycle. The crescent moon represents new beginnings. And to tie the crest all together, we have our house name as well.
022Like I said in the last slide, Rever means dreamer or idealist. Some fun facts is that the symbolic animal is a wolf. Um and Rever chose blue as their house color because it instills confidence and passion. Our house sign are your hand your arms crossed with the crescent moon. Um if you feel that students should be embraced and encouraged to pursue their dreams, Rever is the right house for you. Thank you for your time and before I go, do you have any questions? >> I just wanted to add that part of uh what we try to do with uh our students through our line mentors program is grow leaders and that's uh I mean both of these students have been so sorry that and I'm really proud of these these four and all that they've
023done uh over this year to um not only lead their houses but to grow individually because it's hard to stand up here in front of uh a group of adults and and present and they all did such a wonderful job. So I'm really proud of them for their work. So thank you. And then we also want to invite all of the the board members to come to our next house games and uh potentially be sorted into a house. And so um we uh have our house games on the 27th, correct? Um so Oh, there it is, right there. Okay. And so uh that's the picture right there you can see of uh one of our our Amistad knight up there. We got a great picture. Um we have a wheel that we can uh now
024sort of people in with. So that's how we will be sorting our students moving forward with our wheel. But, um one thing we do want to offer the opportunity is for parents of our students, if you want to be a part of the house of if you have a child in, that is we would love that. Um and so, I know when we went to the Ron Clark Academy and were there, we we have parents that spoke to us and talked about their parent groups that they have that are associated with their house. They do a lot of even um adult house meetings and stuff and they have different get-togethers and create different fun uh and and kind of create that culture within the house as well. And then they do things as a part
025of the house also. So, our goal is to try to get parents as involved as possible within this as well. We're also going to try to get um businesses within Lockwood. We're going to go to them and um you know, offer the opportunity if they would like to be uh a part of a house to um make a donation to our our our our CA program to continue to fund all of the great things we're doing. And then we'll sort them in as a part of the house to give them to share, they'll put up signs and everything to show their support of our our school as well. So, um if you can't make it, great. We'd love to have you there, but we totally understand. So, any questions for these guys before >> [clears
026throat] >> Any questions? All right, thank you so much. >> [laughter] >> There's a cheer? There's cheers? >> Yeah. >> Oh, yes, there are cheers. >> [laughter] >> All right, uh high school. >> That is so unfair to follow those students. So unfair. Uh I would just like to say the way that those students presented their eye contact, they were prepared. Teachers, I I'm just so impressed. You know, high school teachers, this is who our crop is, you know, coming up, and those those students can do those things. It's really neat to see that. Uh that's how I can segue into having to stand up now after your group. >> Um we have several things coming up. I just want to bring up our testing. Uh you're not responsible for >> Okay. >> this year.
027Uh pre-ACT is the 8th of April. We follow that the next day for the ACT um on the 9th. So, that's kind of our, you know, big measurement for high school uh in addition to passing our classes, right? Graduating. So, uh Harrison is super glad that he is done with school. >> Yeah. >> And you guys represented it so well. Uh prom is coming up the 21st uh of this month, and we're going to be at Chanhassen. There we go. Yes, Chanhassen. So, we're excited about that. We have begun our interview season uh and uh really excited about those. You know, it's it's always hard uh to lose good people, and then it's also that that uh how do we replace? Uh so, pretty excited about some of um some of the interviews and the
028and the hope that those bring. Um we have something new that we've been in the works for um recognizing as a high school that we do have amazing uh young students in the middle school going to be in our our walls. So, we have coming up the 13th of April what we're calling the incoming freshman orientation. Uh the goals for that are understanding high school expectation opportunities, uh building those early connections with the staff, um and our programs that we have, promoting literacy and academic success. And apparently that's one of the things we should do as a school. Um strengthening our family engagement, inspiring students to reach their potentials, and creating a welcome uh inclusive environment. We're doing those things uh we'll do this in the L PAC to start out, which will be a
029moment I'll talk about the L PAC being something else named. Um but we'll welcome do some welcome and introductions, getting to know who we are. Um we'll go over our high school graduation requirements, um the course offerings, uh handout course catalogs, so that we can have some concrete pieces for um eighth grade students coming in as freshmen and their families being able to know here are some of the things and as some organization with that. We'll go over our grade level changes and the district middle schools and the high schools. Um we'll go over some handbook highlights, and then we'll also have Mr. Lynch share about athletic and activity opportunities um within hopefully the goal is that every student finds a home outside of just their seven classes, that they become part of a club,
030part of activities. Um we know that kids that are connected to school feel more involved um than the class period times, that they're more connected, they have better friendships. Who is our friendship group? Awesome. Okay, awesome. So those are some things that we're looking forward to. I'm super excited about this because something that we've been talking about getting going and it just feels really good when you finally get something like that. At least we'll get it off the ground and then we'll hope to improve it. Um Mr. D is going to cook some hot dogs for us. That's his favorite meal, so we're going to go ahead and do that as well. Um the next thing I just So I about is the L PAC renaming. Um Lockwood Performing Arts Center will be renamed as
031you guys remember from previous board meetings. And so I have some information you'll be seeing some flyers. You'll see some posting some out on Facebook and Instagram but um Oh. Um let me try it. Apologies. I'm so sorry. >> Take your time, Mr. >> Next Wednesday at 2:30 to 3:30 we will be having a renaming ceremony for L PAC. Uh we will as you guys know rename that to Archie PAC, Hume Stadium, Lockwood Performing Arts Performing Arts Center. I hope you guys will attend. We're doing it right after school so our students can attend, community members, staff can attend. We will have our family there will do the unveiling of our beautiful um >> [clears throat] >> uh new placard. I guess it's called a placard. It's gigantic. I'm not sure a placard can be
032that large but um it's been out and uh it's been approved to be renamed but this will be the official renaming ceremony. We'll follow that with some light uh snacks and things like that where you can visit with the family and visit with each other and then it is just the way that we can honor a very special individual that has been part of our district for so long now. Next Wednesday, yes, the 18th at 2:30 to 3:30. All right, that's not at all embarrassing for you in front of me. See, I'm just fine with that, guys. It's okay. All right. So one a couple things I did um send out and advertise with the student body repeatedly. I'm very excited. It's something that when I started my first year as a principal, I wanted
033to start a principal advisory group. And so I have 12 students that have volunteered their time to meet with me monthly and to give some opinion and some input and some insight, their perspective on certain things. I'm really excited about that. That'll be coming up. Mrs. Lloyd and Miss Brog helped us organize a staff team development. We played Bunco. Yes, we did. It was a little math, a little team building, a lot of fun, and snacks. So that was that was fun to get to play together. I just like we want our students involved, we want to play with each other so that we can work more closely together. So those are some of our things that are up and coming and one more point, we have two amazing assistant principals in the high school.
034And you know, just every single day we started out with they're going through who needs we talked to about attendance, who we talked to about grades, who we talked to you about behavior. And they're they're obviously they're just rolling and I just can't say enough about how positive they are with students, how consistent they are with students, and the connections that they make. We're seeing reduction in behavior write-ups partly because of the amazing work that's being done in the classroom, but also the consistency of the application of those behavior and attendance policies. So I just want to publicly thank the two assistant principals, Mr. and Mr. Carter. Are there any questions for me? >> I have a couple. Um, you said that you're interviewing. What What open positions do you think you're going to have
035next year? >> Um, we have a sped opening. We have an FCS. Those are advertised. We have a math opening. >> English is there? >> English is math? >> Uh science or social studies, English. Yeah. >> Okay. And then the other question I was just curious about, um do you have any updates on our charter school or do you know about maybe >> It was not selected. >> Okay. They did not >> They did not select any alternative ed >> No, they did not select one. >> Okay, so they So we were not selected for our charter school for next >> That's correct. [clears throat] >> Oh, thank you. >> Any other questions? >> Thank you. >> Uh safety report. We will be having a walk-through with Mr. Dearing tomorrow and Mr. Day and she
036will be doing a safety inspection of all the physical facilities. She's looking for anything that we might have missed or anything. Something to note. We will do that before that because I'm all buildings the whole campus. >> Yeah. >> [snorts] >> Student council report. >> Yeah, I really got a lot of um you two weeks ago I think is when we did our winter fest assembly and student council helped with that on and we recognized all the winners scores and that kind of thing. So that was pretty fun. And then pretty soon we'll start selling our senior parking spots for next year so like they can go out and paint them like in years past. And I think later in April a few student council members and FFA meeting members will be going to Helena
037and going to the capital building and all that sort of thing. But yeah, that's really all I got. >> Love it. >> Mr. Christmas, superintendent. Um Our enrollment is at 1525 for the district. Um Attendance rate is staying above 90%. The middle school had a little dip, but it went just a little bit below 90, so we're staying really consistent with attendance in 90% of things. Um We've done a lot of work in the last few months on the Jed Foundation on mental health programming for the district. We're ready to start working with our counselors and experience committee. They're ready to start looking at the strategic plan that Jed Foundation took all of our data and presented to them behavior, attendance, everything. They will start uh we'll start developing that strategic plan for the district
038down the road forward. I just got milked just like this afternoon. I had applied for a grant with a group called We Give Thanks organization. They opened up a grant out of California for 100 schools across the nation. We were one of the 100 picked out of the 100,000 applications. So, we will have a full implemented SEL program next year paid for, and it works on 5 minutes of staff time a week and 15 minutes of student time working on different curriculum manuals, how we talk to each other, those kinds of things. So, I will get more information on that. I literally just got news that we were selected. So, I will update the district on that as we go. Um Everybody, I believe, is still working on their MTSS plans on their tier one,
039tier two, all those things are consistently going on with the reading grant and outside of reading, we're doing math as well. All right. The lunch and learn series, um we were lucky to get more money from our strong connections grant through OPI to fund the lunches for that and for the snacks to do in the primary. So, we'll have money for that for this year to take care of the lunch and learn series. Oh. Our district is represented on a national panel that was sponsored by the Duke Foundation on the mental health program in William where we are at. And they did a lot of questioning about the handwriting and those kinds of things. So, it was really good because it's something that we do have a lot of. So, it was easy to talk
040about and a lot going on academic or activities wise as you all know, there's been a lot going on. A lot of stuff is coming up. The swimming is ending, basketball's ending, track is starting, baseball's starting. So, there's a lot going on there. Uh we will be submitting a grant to the USDA Agriculture grant for the school of grant for greenhouse, Auto Grammar Trust grant for a greenhouse. Sensory regulation note pods, which is something that we saw at the national superintendent's conference. They're actually pods that are built on wheels. They have controlled air pressure when you put them in the back of your classroom with the students who are having trouble regulating. They sit down in there, their pressure is lowered, and it automatically calms them down. And I was sitting in the in the
041middle of 938 presenters, and I couldn't hear anything they were saying with the whole front of it open. So, the teachers would have been actually wanting to see. They could sit in there and work. It was pretty amazing. Also working on a grant, which is called Victory XR immersive simulation labs, and they are actually the You put them over your eye, bring it to a whole lab. You can do museums from Greece, you can do uh anatomy and physiology. So, we're going to be working on that grant as well. And that will be for the middle school and high school. Um two resignations. And we have just been super busy, and I'm just grateful that um the board supports the work we do as much as I do. >> Mr. Mayor, okay. Any questions for
042the superintendent? >> I have a question. How many pods are you hoping to get in? >> Well, I think they're about $9,000 each year. So, if we can get five this year >> All right, next we're going to go to school board goals. Goals haven't changed. Uh, all have hours. I just checked at 3:00 p.m. I think all did now. Everybody's kind of messed. I'm I'm going to check with Deanne before the next meeting and make sure everybody's Has everybody got their visits done for the year? Okay, perfect. Uh, board work session is April 21st at 5:30 p.m. in the community room. I did reach out to MTSBA. They will be facilitating it. Um, Deanne did a contract with that. It was about $1,500. That'll come out of the 115 account for the board. Um,
043I forgot who's the presenting. >> Ambercillous will be the facilitator for that. Uh, community updates, budget committee. Uh, we need to set our next budget committee meeting. Do you guys want to do it in March or first week of April? >> Yes, it is a good >> How about the 24th of March? That works. >> At >> 5:30 or 5:30 to 6:00? >> Who do you want to do it at? >> 5:30 on March 24th will be the next budget committee meeting. >> Brilliant. Okay. >> Okay. Career fair committee Corey. >> Um went to the home show this weekend and asked a lot of vendors if they wanted to come. I think we might have to move it into the big gym. So, um I know we already got the >> [clears throat] >> few
044replies and we just sent out the email to them. It was Saturday or Sunday after the home show. We made the email out and sent it out. And we already got a few people saying yeah and a lot of them were kind of surprised that they were being asked. Try to make sure we got a little bit of everything. Hopefully we'll have a good turnout. Um I know the with the army recruiters they're going to bring a vehicle. We can't put that in the gym. >> I know. >> Okay. So, we might have to put it right outside. >> But yeah, it's a We have a lot of interest this year, so and we moved it to April 23rd because that'd be more logical. >> David Klein bolt. >> Correct. That it yeah, and that
045was David Klein bolt. >> Okay. >> All right, thank you. Negotiations committee. >> There's >> Anything planned yet? >> Yeah, we're just waiting to hear from them. Yeah, we have a meeting Okay, thank you like >> [clears throat] >> Yeah, that's what I was going to do. >> All right. Last but not least, community engagement. Versus >> Yeah, we just had the first annual the winter game night and chili cook-off and um went pretty well. Had a lot of people show up, a lot of clubs get involved, and hopefully we have more in coming years. I hope it was enough of a success that people come back. Each club was given an opportunity to do their own independent fundraiser, and I have no way of knowing, you know, all day what how much they raised
046through those, but we did do a silent auction that we donated to the Optimist Club every year buys gifts for students for Christmas, and so we contributed the silent auction funds to that. The The Optimist Club was very helpful. They They were involved in a lot of the planning, and they did the cornhole, so we were happy to help support them. They also, at that same event, made a huge contribution to the Miss Gets in the primary intermediate music departments for their upcoming Aladdin performance, and just for their room in general. So, that was really cool. So, we were able to donate $715 to them to the Optimist Club for that, and then we also did make a little bit of money on the chili. The first few little taster cups were free, and then
047people were able to buy extra chili, and then the winner of the chili cook-off received those funds, and they received $96, and that was the Wahoo Little League made some great chili. And then we just had a lot of businesses throughout the community that donated silent auctions and were involved, so that was really cool to see. And then it was just great to see kids be able to come. Everything The games and the food, the first few cups of chili were free, so it was really fun to just have families be able to come and have a fun free night, and there was bounce houses, and games like pin the tail on the donkey, and whatever else, basketball games, and stuff. But, it was great. I hope that more groups and businesses and clubs get
048involved next year, and we'll Yeah, we'll go from there. And then I don't know what's We'll take a minute. We'll figure out what we're doing. to >> What do you guys want to do next? >> I was alive. >> No, I I I I was there. I witnessed everything. It was wonderful seeing the managers come out and walk around having fun. It was a nice safe thing. And I can actually account for 12 or 14 chili's. >> Yeah, there was a lot of chili. >> Yeah. I appreciate that. Just good job. Thank you guys for doing that. Next, consent agenda. Any issue with consent agenda as presented? Any issue with consent agenda as presented? Any issue with consent agenda as presented? Hearing none, it is the consent agenda is adopted. Uh next, we have to
049go over our permissive funds for permissive fund resolution for uh beginning of July July 1st, 2026. Uh transportation increase, we have a 10% increase in uh per student. So, that's going to go to our transportation levy. Uh tuition fund levy, uh daily rate for the Yellowstone Academy, uh non-resident enrollment payment to our school along with special education for the one-on-one staffing needs for the district, and all the educational levy fund education classroom supplies, equipment, and supplies, and building permissive levy for the cost related to campus-wide maintenance, repairs, and equipment, safety measures, and uh improvements. Any questions on that? >> On the tuition line, >> I'm sorry. >> On the tuition line, uh what's going on with 40%? Can you give us a breakdown of what's really going on with us there and what that breakdown
050is? >> I can the El Paso Women's increased their tuition. And so it was an $80,000 difference this year for our school. >> Sure. >> We estimate what our out of district tuition payment will be to other districts so that it either go up or down and then just with the increase with salaries to our spending you know across the board at the increase to or spending teachers and then parents. >> Have we added any positions this year? >> No. They've increased that for a little bit and so it's needed. >> And the federal funding for special education this year went down about $40,000 so >> And this is just an estimate. We're still working on the mills and how everything's going to work out with the county line. >> Do you know what the
051dollar amount toward the for the kids we're having to pay outside tuition? >> For the ranch? >> Yeah, no. For the outside tuition. >> I estimated it I believe at 45,000. >> Okay, so that's probably the main driving force. >> What are we estimating for the ranch next year? It's $22,500 per student. We have right now and yes we have to pay that. >> For the student? Okay. >> Just as a we didn't realize that we didn't remember you know in here for a dozen years I didn't realize that per student we had our own made budget line. >> Yes, and currently >> We can't do that out the 10% and then so then we're in a We're starting 3 year 3 year contract. Thank you. And I guess there's another question that I have
052that I was trying to understand on on this on this of bloody I I see the different buckets. And so in the past we under- I've understood that it's the state matches us. Is that for every bucket? For what now? No. Do they match us for any of that? So it's just an increase. So there is no there is no additional funding. So we take this permissive funding and then we're not getting more money on top of what we're asking for from the state. Okay. Well, that's a little bit out there in the jungle. Oh. Okay. Well, that's not being communicated I don't think very well. >> The permissive levy is is something that we have to have for the tuition or I mean for busing purposes because that's transportation fund. And so that's permissive
053because um the routing changes um and it doesn't come out of the general fund. And it fluctuates then the permissive levy fluctuates. And it'll fluctuate depending on how much, you know, cash we have the cash balance we have left, you know, at the end of this year. So those are estimates and I had estimated in word and all the same it's an estimate. So you don't really know what is going to happen. This is what I am estimating based on what happened last year, where we're at this year, what the bills are going to be this year for our fuel. >> [snorts] >> And last year we were able to increase the bills by 11. So we estimated that we weren't able to increase by 11. >> Okay. So just to have that clear. >>
054anything we were estimating because we don't want people to have sticker shock. >> Right. But this is again kind of worst case scenario of what we think and then after the fact if like you said >> It could be it could be less. >> Okay. Is this different from the permissive levy that after that? Did you get extra money for it? Cuz I remember someone explaining it to me a couple of years ago. >> Mr. Kincel will go over our levies next month on how those were charted. It's not related to this. But he'll explain how the money what where the money comes from with our levies and where that money goes. >> So that is another permissive levy. >> It's not permissive. It's a levy that we all pay like everybody in the county
055pays. >> So that was >> That's our general fund money. That's for your general funding That's a separate >> That's a levy that we don't vote on. >> Those yeah. >> But we don't vote on it or we do? This is not a vote. This These permissive levies >> No, they're not permissive. No, but the mills like buildings is running a bond. That's stuff you vote on. Yeah, that's what we pay in each district. But we're not doing that. No. >> It's the board. The board is voting to approve. >> It's not permissive. >> Yeah. Yes. Yeah, so it is a vote in essence. Just not a vote. >> It's not a vote. It's not going down with the entire public. >> Or a bond. >> These are levies. >> Yes, they're not permissive. Yes.
056>> I'll entertain motions. >> I move to approve the meeting. Move to accept the commissioner's financial report. The motion is Jane. >> I'll second. >> Second from Jackie. All in favor of the estimated permissive levy fund resolution special fund public discussion with the board. All those in favor of uh approving the estimated permissive funds resolution say aye. >> Aye. >> All those opposed same sign. Hearing none, motion passes. Next is the Iron Line Strength Flood. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I was worried this year No, this is my way. Mr. Lynch would not make it cuz he was at a baseball meeting I believe. >> Good timing. >> Beautiful timing. Uh Mr. Lynch the last last month this was on the uh agenda item for approval and also members had some questions and some public that
057had some questions. Um I do not remember any of the questions. Does the board have any other questions for Mr. Lynch? >> I thought that I just didn't feel like it met the requirements under the policy and it certainly does now. >> Well, I think that expanded a lot. >> Yeah, but we've been doing competitions. >> That was one of the questions and we didn't really know what would we do would we do any powerlifting competitions I mean >> I mean that's an option. So um previous couple schools that I've been at did kind of the same thing. We started one. Um and essentially it's every kid that's in our existing track and field program right that has the class kind of is is already in it and then the instructor the advisors will meet
058regularly at our previous school the instructor was more so in the powerlifting so they started a powerlifting um kind of segment of the the club and they actually would start competing. So if I think if there's the interest there um which I imagine there would be then that is definitely an option to go do. Um It's not a powerlifting isn't necessarily an MHSAA sport anymore. Um it kind of went away a few years ago but there's still uh high school organizations that have like a state meet and stuff like that which is growing in in popularity too. It's pretty cool. So um yeah, we'll have the opportunity to do that. >> Since it's not an MHSAA regulated it's not letter correct? >> Correct. >> That was another question. Okay. I think that's technically all it
059is. We got to have a conversation. Okay. Any other questions about the Iron Lion Strength Club? >> [clears throat] >> It was who the governing body and I say J is not doing anymore. There are going to be needs that they're going to go to. And then once we if we approve the Lion Strength Club, then next month we will have probably a motion on table to approve a fundraising on so that they can raise money. >> You got that and that's what the big push is on is just that to be able to start a club organization have an account where they can start a fundraising to help start to build funds up to purchase new equipment stuff like that. Everything the way everything is super super expensive. So we try to alleviate that
060on the budget side and be able to get new equipment, get everything everything they need. That's kind of the >> I think this club will have a lot of benefits. Having this club recognized will help a lot of students. One of the questions was is it powerlifting or Olympic or you need both? >> Essentially you can do anything within that group. You know, whatever the advisor is more comfortable with kind of what their background is. The powerlifting is more so the competitions, the Olympic lifts. We're saying it'll be covered like in within the school district both. >> I think it was. I'll entertain motions. >> I move that the board approve the Iron Lion Strength. >> Yeah, motion from Stacy and a second from >> I'll second. >> Lacy? I got a motion from Stacy
061and a second from Lacy on approval of the Iron Lions Strength Club, schedule from public. Schedule from board. All those in favor of approval of the Iron Lions Strength Club, say I. >> I. >> All those opposed, same sign. Hearing none, motion passes. Next is the Bridge the Lions Trust. I'm sure that's what everybody's here for. We have EBMS currently in the Bridge the Lions Trust just got certified through EB and with the insurance. >> Let's see insurance. >> Uh EBMS is scheduled to go up 3 to 5%. We don't know right, correct, which one it is. >> 15. >> Okay. Um and with going with the Bridge the Lions, we have a savings of I can't read that number. >> 477,000. >> $477,000. >> 64. >> $464,000, sorry. >> That's >> And this is
062estimated um you know, without uh carrier negotiations and how much we contribute. It's a rough estimate. >> We're in the insurance pool now with um they've changed the rates. Um but what the bridge would be and did a side-by-side comparison. >> Okay. What What are the major differences between these two plans? You have any idea? >> The major You mean between what we have now? >> Yes, deductibles. Deductibles and out-of-pocket. >> The deductible for traditional plan, which um you know, we've had and we've had for a long time and we love it. Um is going from 500 to 1,000 and out-of-pocket is increasing to 2,000. 1,500 >> Well, 500's left. 1,000 is what it >> There's no dental or medical >> on it? >> There's pharmacy. And the last um email from the alliance that
063came out with updates that John sent out to the districts um they're working with to get vision. They're working hard to partner with vision and dental. So, they're listening and they're it would be um >> How many individuals do we have on the plan with this policy effect? >> 143 employees >> How many employees? Not individuals. Employees. >> Oh, sure. So, that that that would have to meet that deductible. So, like each Is it each person on the plan or is it just one time per family that you do the deductible? >> For insurance? >> Mhm. >> Yeah, for this plan. >> Yeah, and the paid by drug season kind of side by side with the comparison of what they currently have and what they're getting dealing with the new one. I think that would
064that would answer questions that you guys may have. >> I would assume it's all moving to something that I don't know what they have now and what they're beginning to be getting with the >> Sure. >> I mean, so >> Once I >> I know [snorts] it's all just an overview of like both their deductibles, both their current deductibles, their new deductibles, their maximum out of pocket, and what their co-insurance is. So, we're going to move forward on that up to date. And also on the yeah. >> Is it in here? >> It is, but it's not pulling out completely. There's not apples to apples so to do. We just need there's a bunch of gaps. >> It's because they didn't know what the they when we gave it to them, I mean, they didn't
065know exactly what it was. >> Yeah, I think I gave them the number, but it's the same thing. We and then I was only wondering what their current premiums are. >> I can just tell you that I've done a lot of work comparing the two. Um I was on the insurance committee for our union and um with outfit with and I did it with a 7% increase to be the competitor than but when you look at both plans, the traditional plan, the the difference is the deductible. For an individual, it's going to be more out of pocket, going to be more. For a family, it's going to be quite a substantial amount difference. Working with JPT versus with Bridge Alliance, when we pay to our deductible, it also counts as your out of pocket with
066JPT. So, you reach your out of pocket, your deductible quicker. So, you don't pay as much. Whereas with Bridge Alliance, it's separate completely. So, somebody for me, for example, I'm on a traditional family plan, what would happen is instead of paying $1,000 for my family deductible and $1,000 out of pocket, I would be 2,000 cuz it adds together. Whereas with Bridge Alliance, I'm going to be in the $6,000 out of pocket by the end of the year cuz the out of pocket is 2,000 or 4,000. So, your deductible is 1,000 2,000, your out of pocket is 2,000 4,000 for for for the traditional plan. They did match the HSA both HSA plans are completely exactly the same. Working with Bridge Alliance and talking with them over the course of the last few months, they did
067change that to compare our things together to match completely if they're on the HSA. So, if you're on the traditional plan, it is not the same match. >> But your premium is lower, so your >> It the cost is not going to make up the difference. >> So, your premium go down, your deductible goes up. >> Yes, so your monthly cost is going to go down. >> Your monthly cost, but your long term is going to go up. And the difference between the two, I'm like for me, I would still be paying way more out of pocket cuz I use the insurance. >> I still have a disability so I constantly use it. >> So for somebody like me, that's going to cost me a lot. But I'm only one person, right? It's only 143.
068So it's not just me that it matters, right? So for me, I look at it as a whole. How you going to affect everybody? So that's just the way we look at it as far as the coverage is different. It really is if you're on the traditional plan. But if you're on the HSA, it's the same. >> Did you get any additional information that the MVP came back with 3.5? >> They did not come back with 3.5. He estimated between 3 and 5% and it won't go over 5%. He said give me Let's start at 3.5. But that month had to come. That month had to wrap up. I reached out to him and asked him and that's what he estimated, but it could He said it wouldn't go over 5%. >> Originally they told
069me to estimate 7. >> Yeah, and so they didn't say better year. They think it might be. And so it's just based on that really. >> And that's the increase for the next year or for the next three years? >> For each year. >> Just 2020. >> And for MVP Alliance, do we have any lock in of how long it would not go up? >> No. >> They weren't able to And it's brand new. >> And they follow And so what we we went in We were a long session in the group cuz we were confused about it as well. And I think Stacy and Shane were in there with us too and we did ask them about that. >> We had conversations about that. >> Um just like MVP won't be able to tell
070you what it's going to be next year either. He did say they follow and I don't understand Medicare. I'm not an expert in insurance. I'm not an expert in Medicare. He did say they follow the Medicare platform and they aren't allowed to increase more than 3%. So we wouldn't see large increases like, you know, commercial insurances which they don't think. I do think Jake has been very um even handed. For hours and not everyone has, so. >> So, um I've been on the year but I'm still still learning a lot. But how did it get to the point where this decision went to the board? Does the um union have to vote on it, the teachers union? >> Article 5 section H. Article 5 section H of the master agreement states the association and the
071board shall mutually select insurance carrier. >> So, what does that mean? >> So, we would have to have the union would need to vote and approve it. Otherwise, it more than likely will turn into a What's the term again? >> Unfair labor practice, thank you. >> So, if we say we [snorts] want to change to the health alliance and they say, you know, we want to stay with uh EBMS or whatever automatically we go to unfair >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Is that I'm being like a public comment right now on this action item? Because I'd like to make a comment also. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. Um I think one of the challenges our district is facing, just being really transparent, is the teachers union has it in their contract. Many many of us
072who work here, including administrators, here our secretaries, are not unionized. Um and they therefore we don't get a vote on it. Our paraprofessionals don't get a vote on it. So, a small group of people teachers, those under a teaching contract, are representing the entire district on the decision. And I'm not saying that's right or wrong. I just think it's an important note to make because many of us who work here and take insurance don't get any say in the decision. Um and that's that is what it is right now. There's nothing we can any of us can do about that right now. But I do think it's an important note to make. >> I also think it's an important note to make that 60% of the people on the insurance are teachers. >> And I'm
073still trying to understand how is this not on the agenda? Like why is it on the agenda as an action item? If this hasn't been Did you guys have a meeting about this? >> This was done through the budget committee during that open meeting. We requested to have this put on the agenda item after looking at the smaller 77,000 changes. >> And then you had already talked with the union? >> The union was notified the day of the action. >> And at this time I'm going to move that we table the lawsuit cost proposal for the Bridge Alliance Trust because by voting on this it will trigger an unfair labor practice. >> Also I did >> I got you know maybe I'm too late to I didn't And then fine I I would like the
074committee comes to have a better idea >> What are they making for me? >> Okay. But or and if it does And then also this Bridge Alliance Trust I mean it it's got a 2024 plan and going assessment on it and so >> That's what we had but that they asked for Okay. And you did that stuff. >> So what did they ask? They were asking that we would have a full plan here? >> We did this one of them last year. >> Okay. For 2024. >> Yes. >> President Manson like 100 questions on it. It was horrible but we got it done. Did I hear the union have another vote on >> I don't know. I haven't heard of We don't know yet. >> [clears throat] >> Sorry again. Sorry, you didn't say I
075think the end of that is already past the deadline already. So, we'll be >> We'll be back. We'll be back. >> Okay, so >> We think we're going to change the vote. >> Okay, but I mean this is this is the vote is going to stay, right? So, it's something that can be looked at for the following year is my understanding. Like other schools are are voting on it. Okay. So, it is a So, we're only committing to 1 year stay staying at EVMS at this point and then we can re-evaluate in a year, which is probably which it is a bummer that we're losing I think to the point of like what I was attempting to say to is there's nothing we can do right now. But in future years, it's probably something we
076need to try to figure out. Um for example, statistically I understand that the union represents uh 60% of 140 employees. That means we should see over 70 employees having at least voted on the interest trust. And my understanding is not nearly that many people voted with a high degree. And maybe I have misinformation, but I just want I just am advocating that we can look at it as a whole picture and make decisions that are best for everyone employing the district and best for the financial future of the district moving forward. >> And I think that's going to be my biggest concern is how we move forward with the 2023 and 2024 budget. Thank you very much. >> I have a motion from Josh and a second from Corey to table this until an undisclosed
077future event. Do we have uh discussion from public? Discussion from the board? >> Yes. Uh I think something that needs to be looked at and seriously considered very soon is changing the language of Article 5 Section 8 of the master deed where it says the association and the board shall mutually select the insurance carrier because it gives no remedy if there's any disagreement or you know >> There is no mutual discussion. It's a vote and then you're told what to do. And that's how it goes right now. >> And that will be on the agenda for next meeting. >> Right. Can I just say I think we were more upset with the way it was handled. I do want to work with people and I do want to have conversations. And we understand your position,
078but the way it was handled was upsetting. >> I want to say to Mr. Christian we talked multiple times and asked to get together and nobody came. >> I we had multiple meetings. >> No, just in the last 2 weeks there was nobody nobody showed up and we told you that. >> Mr. Christian, I have a motion and a second. Any other discussion from the public? Discussion from the board? All those in favor of tabling the original landscape until a future date, >> I. All those opposed same sign. Hearing none, motion passes. That is tabled. Next, we have 2026-2027 school calendar. >> All right, I would like to to the place he asked a question about just we would like to pass this so that we start scheduling but we will be going back and
079adding half Fridays and blackout days after [snorts] they get met as they have been meeting to put those in. But this is the proposed school calendar after many minutes, maybe work for you. >> So, the only thing we're missing is the health Friday. >> blackout days he will publish on here before it goes out onto the website. >> A quick question and if there's no reason why, that's fine. Um but is it just that that you really prefer to get the health Fridays worked out? >> So, we kind of try and plan the health Fridays around other tournaments as well and like when the quarter ends. So, we just have to be very strategic with those. Um >> Cuz we did a health Friday and early out >> So, like we had a class B
080tip-off or a divisional wrestling. We just try to be pretty strategic with those. Like we understand kids still want to help and want to and honor that but also capitalize on parking. >> No, no, that makes that makes perfect sense. If we can definitely do health Fridays and PL days and work around that. Yes, it was. >> Um so, we're moving in between small Can you provide a little bit I think that is what you were saying. Anyway, we are moving from going to 8:05 instead of 8:05 >> If you add minutes to the high school calendar, you don't really need to require the hours of education. So, there's a few less minutes on the lunch. >> Correct. About 3 minutes less on the lunch. >> So, that we can add those minutes in. Cuz
081we can't count the early bird >> We want the students to graduate, >> Is there something special about December 11th? We just asked you. >> What is your ask? >> You know, that's what I mean. >> I believe that's the I believe that's the first day of the quarter tournament. Meet at the office. It's one of the tournaments. >> Any of those single things like a Friday in the photo studio? >> Well, Friday the first is still still New Year's, yeah. But But the 11th, yeah, that is >> allowing the people not to be on campus when they have all these other people on the campus. Yeah. So, I appreciated that. >> And we will deal with the 26 27 school calendar. >> I know it contained >> To approve the 26 27 26 27
082school calendar. Discussion from the public. Discussion from the board. >> The only question I guess I'd have is usually when will we know those whole Fridays and will all of finalized and published in the next couple months? >> Yeah, by the end of the school year. >> Okay. The handbook should come out. >> Yeah. By the end of the school year it'll be done. The schedule will be set. You can get it. >> Okay. MSK hasn't said everything for next year, have they? >> Correct. >> Yeah. So, that's I think we're waiting on them to to accept their kids. >> And that's And that's fine. I just wanted to estimate cuz you know they will be asking for Already asking for the information. >> Oh, no. I think people are already asking about our schedule
083already. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Any other discussion from the board? All those in favor of approval of 26 27 school calendar, say aye. >> Aye. >> All those opposed, same sign. Hearing none, motion passes. Next, we have a physical therapist. John, can you talk to us, please? >> Um we were doing physical therapy contracts through the organization called Wild Woods. >> And the physical therapist chose to stay on Wild Woods. I'm okay with stepping out of it because we were paying them and we were paying her, so she just presented the contract just for her. She has all of her licensing and her insurance and everything on board already. So, we just want to continue that on through this year. I think she'll help us stay on actually. >> So, it's a new independent contract.
084>> Can we verify that the physical therapist is uh not Well, I mean, you have a massage file, correct? >> No, it's for the school. >> I understand that. >> But it is for like our special ed kids that had a wheelchair bound or >> Yeah, anyone that you see that in the Yeah, there's a She doesn't really That's what But it's all in my interest. >> Yeah. >> No massage from the board. >> No. >> We We are not starting a massage. >> He's a board. >> Look, there's no massage file in the senior room. >> No. >> And who weighs 105 lbs? I believe that's not correct. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> You know what we're paying for? >> Same thing. >> Yeah. >> She just kept the same contract. She
085just We got a new contract. Just >> I'll entertain motions. >> I I move to approve the physical therapist for the remainder of the 2025 school year. >> Second the motion. >> All right. >> I have a motion from Stacy. >> Stacy, you said present. >> Jackie, to approve the physical therapist contract for the remainder of 2025 school year. Discussion from the public. Discussion from the board. >> Miss Chamber, physical spot in the in the campus. >> She needs to be in the classroom, not in the hallway. >> Who agrees with that? >> So, she >> No, we don't have a chairman here. >> Yeah, does she work in the classroom or in the hallway or in the master? >> Yeah. >> They used to walk into the down the halls where there was space
086for them. >> Okay. >> So, she doesn't have an actual like office. >> She's only here like twice a week. >> Kelly. >> Any other questions from the board? All those in favor of approval of the physical therapist contract for 2025 school year, say I. >> I. >> All those opposed, say nay. Hearing none, motion passes. Agreement and understanding for the Boys and Girls Club. This is something that Kelly has been working on. Um we did not have an agreement on the books for the last >> 5 years with the Boys & Girls Club. Um Kelly noticed it and he went over there. He's been working it out and figuring out space and how much to charge and everything like that because we knew the Boys & Girls Club is extremely important for our parents
087and our community because they do a lot of after-school programs. They fill in a lot of gaps for parents that have to work and things like that. So, this is just going to be our first agreement in the last 5 years, pretty much. They've just been operating over there. >> They have been paying a weekly fee in the school which is $18,000 a year. >> Yeah. >> So. >> Will this contract be renewed annually? >> Yes. Yeah. And then we also have up the Head Start who now pay an annual payment to the school for the use of the facility. So, we've got those folks up to me. >> How much do they pay? >> They're only doing 500. They're just paying for janitorial. >> I think the I think it comes out to like
0881,500 a month. >> Yeah, it does. >> Surely it wasn't always that. >> Well, considering the amount of space they take and >> office space for the Boys & Girls Club. It's really not that good of a rate. >> I'll move to >> Okay, do we have a second from the board to approve this motion? >> I have a motion from Gloria, a second from >> Stacy? To approve the new agreement with the Boys & Girls Club. Is there a second from the public? Second from the board? >> The only question I had is about the janitorial services. So, they'll pay a fee of $18,000 but we're still providing them janitorial services. >> For the months Okay, so that's what it's all about. I think somewhat >> [clears throat] >> Yes, yes. Okay. So they
089don't have I mean like they'll well hopefully keep it clean but then the AR staff make sure it's clean. That's what I thought but I just wanted to know. I wanted to make sure. >> Any other questions? All those in favor of the approval of the agreement and understanding for the boys and girls club say I. I. All those opposed same sign. Hearing none motion passes. Last item on the agenda is we have a slight increase of less than a mile on the Lockwood 5 open bus. Um This is just so that we get reimbursed by the county. I move that we approve the route increase on Lockwood 5 open bus. I motion from the audience second from Lori. All those in favor or sorry. Uh discussion from the public. Discussion from the board. All
090[clears throat] those in favor of the mileage increase on the Lockwood 5 open bus say I. I. All those opposed same sign. Hearing none motion passes. Next we are going to go to We have correspondence. We have the union letter and we have a county superintendent complaint. That's all on there. Next we're going to go to public comments. >> So Josh just on the correspondence I guess I would like to um request of the record that we are informed of procedures of how the complaints are being handled. And are provided updates for our own. Not asking for deliberation, not asking for any of the specifics, but I do believe that the board needs to be informed of how these are being handled. >> Okay. And I will tell you that the only thing that I
091can share with the board is when something moves from Right now it is a county superintendent level. Right now they are determining if one they have jurisdiction. Two, if there's actual viable complaint. Or three, if anything nefarious has happened. I don't have anything about anything back from them on that. The only thing I'm able to share with the board is whether once those three things happen, if something happens, I will share that with the board. But there will be possibly issues with uh personal information. And I will share as much as I possibly can. >> And and that's fine. That's what I'm asking for is that you continue to keep us updated as to what the status is and then that we have the information if it comes before us for a decision. >> We
092will have all the information we need. Yes. >> Thank you. >> We have one public comment from Lori Welch. This has been our first year at Lockwood School. We have enjoyed the kind the kind people and staff. The building is beautiful and academics are great. My daughter has been told she will never She has never seen a school resource officer in the building. She said there are a lot of kids with vapes. I know there are metal detectors, but they are never out. Safety is my biggest concern. I am wondering why there aren't more proactive measures being taken. >> Thank you. >> I move to take in the keyboard and say >> Take in the keyboard and say. Thank you. And >> [clears throat] >> We have a another public comment from the same person.
093I also want to add that my daughter deals with bullying, which I know is to be expected, but they said she should die. It It leads out to outside of school and other activities like basketball or at a church. At the daddy-daughter dance, four girls were laughing at her. I talked to her all the time about ignoring them and just responding with kindness. There There's only so much a kid can take. And take though, I have spoken with the assistant principal and this is has suggested that the SRO talk to the kids and let them know there are legal consequences that can take place. MCA 20-9-219 kids from bullying another student in public schools. Please have a heavier law enforcement presence in the middle school. This age is the most unpredictable and adventurous. They need
094that presence to keep them feeling safe and reminded that there are law consequences. Thank you. >> That is all the public comment. Is there any other public comments in the room? >> I don't think so. >> We'll do a journal. We'll adjourn from Jane Olsen. Second with a worry. Second in public. Second in the board. All those in favor of the journal say aye. >> Aye. >> Opposed Opposed say nay.
