001Just as a reminder to everybody, this meeting is being recorded. I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Um, consent agenda. >> I'll make a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> Second. >> Okay. All claims look good. >> Yes. >> Okay. I have a motion and a second. All in favor? >> I opposed. Okay. Public comment. This is the time for anybody if you have anything to say that doesn't have that isn't on the agenda already. Um if you want to say something, this is the time to do it. Um just a reminder, no uh personal matters can come up at this time. Does anybody want to say anything? >>

002These guys are all on the agenda. >> Okay. >> All right. and we will move on to um Dawn, you're up. >> All right. So, welcome everybody. Um I just look at this beautiful weather. I just think because I love the rain. Just I'm thankful for the rain and remembering last summer that we actually had some rain. I'm appreciative of that. Uh, so anything anyway, things that have gone on. We had the county science fair on March 5th and Kelsey, bless her heart, sent me a huge list of kids that are to be recognized. So I'd like to recognize those kids right now. So this is at the county science fair level. So reserve and grand champion medals. For fourth grade, Eleanor Alred reserve medal. Fifth grade, Leila Anderson Reserve Medal. Sixth grade, Russell Prebble

003Grand Champion and $100 cash award. Seventh grade, Steel Gizlan Reserve Medal. Eighth grade, Paisley Davis Reserve Medal and $20 cash award. And Logan Health Special Award and Garen Abernathy received a reserve medal. And then they had other awards in first place, fourth grade, Evelet Simon. Fifth grade, Brayley Woods. Sixth grade, Gabriel Hunt, Haven Swain, Ben Abear, Epic Wright, and Harper Magcguire. Seventh grade, Sydney Hidecker, and Elena Davis. Eighth grade, Jonathan Hunt and Hudson Bedwell. And in second place for third grade, Morgan Matthews, and she also received an Ottawan Society Award. Kaylee High Decker and Declan Magcguire. Sixth grade, Cruz Davis. Seventh grade, Mackenzie Nolan, Rodney Stage, Holly Stage, Reed Brady. And in eighth grade, Nolan Sutton, and Daniel Abear. So, all of those kiddos receive recognition at the uh county science fair and we have

004about eight of them going to the state science fair on Monday. So, that's coming up. I don't know who they are. I can't tell you because a lot of them placed and I just can't tell you which ones are going because I don't have that list. I'm sorry. Then we had Missoula Children's Theater. They were here from the 9th through the 14th. Uh we were fortunate enough to receive the $500 grant that I applied for. So that reduced the total cost. Uh the first performance was uh sold out. We ran out of tickets and it happened again. It happened last year too. And so what happens is the people they we just printed up tickets for chairs and then they end up sitting on the benches because they want to have that that opportunity. So

005next year I'll print more tickets just so that we have it. But we do take uh take a record of how many tickets we sell. Uh good crowds for both performances. The second one was probably three quarters full. The directors were great. Grace Nigan and Ellis Collier. They were fantastic with the kids and they just had a way with the kids this year. I think they're the best directors we've had since we've had MCT here. So, I'm excited to do it again next year. So, we'll move on and keep it coming because everybody loves it and it's really great opportunity for the kids to provide that drama experience. Uh, the 19th we had a math competition. It was a rescheduled date. Uh, Mrs. Matulovich took about six students and she had more lined up, but

006our ski trip was the same day and originally the math math competition was scheduled for the week before, but that was a no school day because of the valleywide cancellation. And then on the 20th we had a Macau presentation. So we had two macaw and Miss Brown's sister came and presented and we also had go away winter day um sponsored by the MTSS. They put it on and uh they just have a bunch of perform of activities for kids to say goodbye and it tied into the macaw presentation. So it had a tropical theme and then this week is spring break. Is is this okay? Oh, >> it's crackling. And >> Jason, do you want to mute yourself unless you're talking pretty please? >> You bet. Sorry. >> No, you're fine. Thank you. >> I

007actually thought it was the computer. Sorry. >> No, it was Jason. >> Then upcoming events, cross country begins the 30th. Uh, state science fair Monday the 30th, end of quarter 3, the 31st. Uh, springo bingo, April 17th coming up. So, uh, and we'll have a student awards assembly. I'm thinking it's going to be the week after grades come out. So, I don't have an exact date for that yet, but we will let the community know. And then staff recognition. So, we have our staff member of the month. So, I like to share with you the individual qualities these people were recognized for being friendly and approachable. Mrs. Grryer, for being respectful and kind, Mrs. Grryer and Mrs. Spec, for being adaptable and flexible, Mrs. Grryer, for adhering to safety procedures, Mr. Marsh for a strong

008work ethic. Mrs. Grryer and Miss Martin for being a team player, helpful, and supportive. Mrs. Grryer and Mrs. Spec for being a good communicator. Mrs. Spec for trying new things. Mr. Marsh for being patient and empathetic. Mr. Marsh and Mrs. Spec for being involved in a school leader. Mrs. Spec for being proud of the school and promoting a positive school image. Mrs. Spec for demonstrating understanding of child development. Miss Martin and Miss Rasmmanson for filling their personal ARF which means achievement, respect, fun, and freedom. Miss Martin and fulfilling the ARF of others, Mrs. Boille and Mrs. Grryer. And when you total everything together, the cumulative vote came in for two people this time. So, Mrs. Grryer and Mrs. Spect, they are both our staff members of the month. So, congratulations to them. So, I'm excited

009for them. I was like, "Oh, it's so it's so exciting." and you look at all of it and it's a tie. So, that's really fun. So, they will have schoolwide recognition, a bulletin board feature, readerboard recognition, and certificate of achievement. They receive a $25 gift card from myself to either um a coffee place or to >> quarter what's the creamy place. What's it called? >> Cold stone. I was thinking quarterstone. Cold stone crearyy. So, ice cream or coffee is what they get. And then preferred parking space for the month. So, that's that's really great. I'm excited for them. Um, other news, we had a kitchen inspection report uh that passed inspection. Congratulations again to Dorothy for her A+ inspection and we had our fire inspection report. Don Dolinger came out and we passed that. And

010Monday is going to be our 127th day of school. Craziness already. What really gets me is when I look at these kids who are in third grade now and I think, wow, they were just in kindergarten like yesterday. They grow up so fast. So amazing. I'll send this to you if you want it. >> Can you just scroll up to the previous page? I've seen one note off there. >> You bet. >> And then Bob, you need to jump back to We missed number letter A underformational items to introduce our county superintendent. >> Oh, we did. >> We did. >> Mhm. We did. We really did. I promise. Right. >> Oh, that was not there. >> It's not normally there. That's the problem. >> You're like, that's new. >> We don't do anything. And I

011I read the agenda. I swear I did read it. I swear I didn't know what was on it. >> How do you get back with me? We have to do one quick. So I apologize. >> You're done. >> Yes. I finished. >> Okay. >> Yes. Because you know it's all good news, right? You have to have good news. So >> Okay. So I'll go back to a and welcome Marca Sto meeting. So, I have just been trying my goal since being appointed on July 1st was just to be able to attend um one at least one of each districts. We have 23 districts in our counties board meeting. It's a good way for me to get to know you guys, for you to know if you have questions, you can get a hold of me,

012um and to just feel kind of a pulse on our schools and the issues that they're facing and the celebrations that they have as well. Um, so that's why I'm here today is just to introduce myself. I've It's already March, so I've been to quite a few meetings. Um, and it's really interesting. It's the honest truth is I I really It's really fun to hear what the kids were celebrating for science fair, um, for other achievements that are happening in the valley, to see our students as leaders. So, it's been a pretty great opportunity, but I wanted to have a chance to introduce myself to you guys. And then the other one of my goals that kind of fell into my lap was in August um the Office of Public Instruction contacted each of the

013counties and asked for proof that we were meeting um one of our legislative mandates through the county, which was a child information and school safety team. And this team was an MCA that was brought about from legislation in 2019. Our county commissioners did sign it um and said okay, but then CO happened and things just kind of fell apart. Um but the purpose of that team is from for schools to be involved but also our county attorney, youth court, child protective services, the health department, just a whole bunch of entities in our area to come together so that we can support students who may be struggling and connect them to the resources that they need. um our schools often have tier 1, tier 2, tier three type interventions and they may be at tier three

014and it and need additional support. So the idea is that we can meet and support those students and a lot of the different counties are meeting a lot on students concerning truency or health concerns or homelessness. um those things that we need a little extra wraparound support for. So, I've taken the past several months just to try to meet with each of those entities individually. Um we are almost there. I I think the last group of people on my list is police chiefs from each of the area and we will hopefully have this up and running by school year 2627 so that we can start supporting students. Is this the same as the student safety response team that they kind of was dwindling when I first started working here? Is that the same team that

015we're talking about? >> But it's related more broad. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> And so that's because we're addressing the underlying issues like the truency and >> Yep. And the model we're going to use is very studentbased. Um, I asked the Office of Public Instruction, you know, what kind of template they might have for us, and they were like, "Honestly, we don't have one." So, we were able to create one, and it's a little bit different than some of the other counties. Um, my goal, and I was a special education teacher before this, is that we truly make an impact on a student. And I think if we meet about two or three students at a time, that's a bigger impact than just addressing one large issue that maybe many entities aren't going

016to agree on, such as truency. Um, but if we're targeting a student to support, I think we might get a little bit further is my hopes. Do you guys have any questions about that? What do you need from us? So part of the MCA is it will have school involvement and it can be an administrator, a trustee. Um, a lot of the counties use their school counselors because they typically have a pretty deep insight onto a a safety or student information need. Um, but so our ask is that if a student is referred that the school represents that student. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. Do you guys have any questions about the county superintendent role? >> Well, nice to meet you. Thank you for allowing me to take some time today. Thanks for being here.

017>> Okay, we will move on. >> Thank you, Marca. >> Do you have anything that you can say about your report? Sarah's up next. >> Oh, >> it's a different agenda. I know. It's got all these extra things in it. It's spring break. >> This is on the roll. >> Hi, I'm Sarah Brown. Um, as you remember, and I have some updates from the libraries. So, um, through the generosity of the Masonic Lodge, we were awarded the $1,500 grant that will be used to purchase STEM activities for our students. These materials will be hands-on learning opportunities that encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity across grade levels. In addition, in our recent school book fair, I raised we raised 1,000 about $1,000 that goes directly back into the supporting the library program and resources. It

018actually just turns into salastic money, so you you can't spend it anywhere else, which I have already done. and um those new books are out in the library and the kids have been checking them out. We also participated in the book program in which the library raised $400. But more importantly, this initiative was to ensure that students in our school received at least two books to take home, helping build their personal libraries and foster a love reading beyond the classroom. And there were several students who were able to bring 10 books home. So, um that was really fun. And then there was also some great rewards and excitement for the kids to do. So it was our first time. It was a little we were trying to figure it out. So I hope to do

019it next year and we would be even more students have more books going home and they were really great quality books. So that was really nice. And then um to expand our access to research tools um our sixth through 8th grade students took a trip to the county library to obtain library cards. Um this allowed them access to the online data bases especially that we just kind of continued our world book for online re research um and we only have so much room on our re our library and we don't and the fact aren't really printed anymore so unfortunately so we really do need that online so students having a library card gave them that access to that free um resource from the county library and it also allows them to be able to check

020check out books from that library um And I am facilitating with some students to help check them out and return books under their library cards so that they can have more of a ride variable of library um books to read since our library is only capable of holding so much. And um looking ahead, I'm currently working with Barnes & Noble through our consortium program. This partnership allowed us to purchase high quality books at a reduced cost, helping stretch our budget further to refresh our books and library shelves. Um, yeah. And so that's what we've been up to in the library. >> Do they still have a bookmobile program? >> Uh, I not not that I'm aware of. >> I don't think since co I think CO pretty much put the kibash on that. Even before

021that it was dwindling and going to less and less schools. So I think more of your rural schools like Dayton might still have one. The like the really really small schools. I did hear from the Flag County Library that they were trying to up and do that again. When we went for our visit, they said something that they were trying to figure out more ways to get books in kids' hands in rural schools. >> You need a book mobile. >> I can remember you the bookmobile coming out here. >> They were talking about like putting more like drop off places for books and like so like if you put books on hold, you could go to like a hut, you know, if it wouldn't be like a library. But like some so they were talking

022about that there were some grant money that they were looking forward in from the five county library. >> You see that in a few places when I drive around and see little, you know, people have set up little reading book exchange. >> Oh yeah, the little >> Yeah, >> it's kind of neat. Okay. Well, thank you Sarah. >> Thank you Sarah. And if you don't mind, I'm going to scoot cuz I uh have lots of chores. >> Yeah, you just bought a house. I have I have a request >> did some >> next time. >> You changed the format highlight. >> We really to Josh and have him sign them and then give them back to me. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Okay. Now, Lacy, >> now it's my turn. Yeah. Mhm. Um, I'm

023going to skip past all of the standard reports unless anybody has anything that they want to talk about and I'm just going to jump down to the A&B um the A&B numbers and the prelim budget numbers. So, this is kind of something that not kind of this is something that we've been talking about for years. This has been coming down the pike to us. We've known about it. We've been talking about it. We've been using the three-year average to compute our budget for several years, basically since I've been here. And um each year we've been lucky enough to grab a previous year that had a higher A and B count to kind of keep us going. Um unfortunately, we're out of we're out of space on those high years. So now we're we are still

024using our three-year average again this year, but we're spanning three kind of rough years as far as our enrollment numbers count. So, we're looking at for the first time since I've been here, we're looking at a decrease in our general fund revenue budget. So, not even a slight increase, which is what we've been working on. And slight increases are tough because they're typically not even enough to cover your salary increases. So, you end up having to cut budget somewhere to cover your salary increases. Well, this year we are looking at a revenue decrease. We will be looking at a decrease in revenue budget from this current fiscal year to ne next fiscal year. So, I'm giving you guys the revenue budget information now so you can start to think about it. I've already I talked

025to Mrs. Matt about it prior to even putting it on this agenda to let her know so she can start thinking about where we're going to need to cut budget. Um, obviously I was out of town last week, so I I let Bob know that now that I'm back, this is pretty much everything that I'll be putting my time, energy, and effort into for the next couple of weeks. Just making sure that So, this is the revenue side, right? We talk about this a lot. So, I'm going to start working on the expenditure side and rolling up salaries into what they would look like next year if the salary matrices stay the same and everybody just steps or, you know, moves up. uh what that's going to look like as far as our expenditure budget

026to see how wide the expenditure gap is because this is the revenue difference. The expenditure gap is going to be bigger, right? It's going to be significantly bigger uh based on salary and other cost increases. So, um the budget and finance committee will need to start meeting ASAP and start discussing what we're going to do. >> And when will we have those numbers? Is it by May? the expenditure budget. >> Expendure budget. >> So, right now I can like I can get them done within the next week or so. It's just going to take a little while to put them all on the spreadsheet. >> Okay. >> Um, as far as finalizing those numbers. So, some of the numbers that aren't going to be finalized are certified staff salaries. >> Okay. Um because >> they

027have until April to move their >> accurate to open. Yep, that's correct. And there hasn't been anything yet, but that's something that would potentially adjust those numbers further. So, what I do, what I'm going to do now is move them up on the current salary schedule cuz that's what I have. Then that will give us our current, you know, if we roll into next year with where we're currently sitting, this is what it's going to look like. >> Okay. You've got the other thing is till they've got till April to say I'm moving over >> education. I see Melissa's on here as a >> that's accurate. So until April 1st they were supposed to notify me. So um they only have a week and you guys saw one last month. So Miss Hansen >> and

028then this one. Um those are the only two that I've heard from but my numbers will reflect >> those people moving over. Correct. Um yeah but it won't the other thing that we are going to have to talk about and I it's again on my to-do list is the stars act compliance like moving our salary matrix has to be in compliant in compliance with the stars act in order to continue to get the double QEC payments. Um, all of our staff is going to be paid in compliance, but technically our base number isn't in compliance anymore. So, I need to find out what if what I need to do to make that happen if we can. >> Does the number go up next year or so? >> It Yeah, it goes up every year. Yes.

029Um, but all of our people are going to be paid because everybody has moved off that that bottom step, that base rate step. So we could put language in, you know, we could be an MOA that puts language in there that says that nobody will start lower than that new step and then that would put us in compliance >> and and keep the matrix where it's at >> and not move the matrix. So there's lots of things um that we need to look at budget wise >> and that's all stuff we'll talk about in a meeting >> budget and finance meeting. Correct. >> That was specifically the certified staff matrix. >> Correct. classified staff matrix doesn't change unless um essentially the classified staff comes like last year several of them came to the board meeting

030and addressed the board or the board you know takes it forward um they don't they're not a union so there's not negotiations there >> and that one was revised last year >> and I don't I haven't heard anything or foreseeing anything of with the union this year we gave them a lot last year know, but you never know. And we we could if we decide that that's it's something that we could do, we could open negotiations with them to make changes. >> Um >> we're going to we will have to we will >> we have to make some changes and in language. Um >> yes. >> Yeah. And I just I need to get feedback from either MTSBA or MASBO on exactly what I need that to say to technically be in compliance, which obviously

031we already did that once last year, but last year was easier because we we moved the base number to be in compliance. This year, if we choose not to, then language has to say that they have to start on that step. So, I just have to make sure that it's and I'm not sure that that's what we want to do. That's things that we have to talk about. Mhm. >> So, okay. What do we have for budget committee? You, I, and >> it's a great question. If you two are on it, then that's it from the board. >> But like from parents, >> we don't we don't have >> we had community members. Um Dave Behringer was on it. >> Right. Right. >> Jan was on it. Oh, no. That was something Dave Behringer. >>

032Dorothy. >> We want to get We want to get at least one. I would like to see at least one certified and one classified staff. >> That's a good idea. >> Um >> I I'll have to go back and look, >> okay, >> at last year's to see who's actually on that committee. >> I don't have to be on it and then I ended up on the board instead. So >> you don't get to I mean you technically can't even you can come as a committee. >> You can you can come to sit back as a >> as a board member. You can't say anything, but you can come watch >> or you can arm wrestle one of these two >> or you can talk to Josh and say, "Hey Josh, I'll trade you some

033policy me." >> Josh isn't on policy, so >> um I don't think I can tell you. I had Dave, Behinger, Dorothy, Josh, Bob, Dorothy. That's the classified one. That's all I have listed. >> We did not have a certified person and they really should have somebody. It makes it a lot easier. >> That's a good idea. >> It makes it a lot easier when you go into negotiations if they understand where we're at. >> Mhm. >> Otherwise, as far as they're concerned, we're just >> I feel like the other community, we had a community member on there, Jerry. >> Oh, yeah. They moved. >> Yes, thank you. But then when they left the district Yeah. But she was on there. Like I know there was two community members at one point. >> Yeah. She was

034on facilities, too. >> Mhm. >> And if anybody knows of anybody that is in the in the district that would be well suited to to deal with the numbers and stuff, definitely bring it up and we can try and get them invited. just don't want too many people in a in a committee meeting, especially at the beginning, because it just gets overwhelming >> when too many people have something to say. >> And we can go ahead and schedule a budget and finance meeting if you guys want to. I just want to push it back a little ways to give myself time to be prepared for it, but we can absolutely schedule it right now if you guys want to just get it on schedule. The first one at least. >> So, you want to do

035start in April? I think so. Excuse me. >> April's only a week away. So, >> I know, but we can go like >> Yeah, but we could do like >> like the second week of April. >> Yeah, like >> the 7th or the 14th. When's our meeting? >> The 21st. >> Okay. So, so far as I know, the 14th worked for me. 14th is fine for me. >> It's fine for me. >> One of you guys. >> Yeah, I'm good on 14th. >> Do you want to do like what? How? 5:30. >> 5:30 should work. >> 5:30. >> Can somebody reach out to Dave and tell him that we're >> He'll get a calendar invite. So that's true. >> And then he'll say, "I don't want to do that anymore." We'll say too bad. All

036right. So, I'd like to get Perry Snell to do it because he owns a business and he's been on the school board before, but I don't think I can talk him into it. >> So, 4:14 at 5:30 p.m. Okay. You'll get a calendar invite at some point. >> Okay. Does anybody else have any questions on the finance report, the works report? >> I was just looking at these AMD numbers. I would expect the following fiscal year for 2728, we are going to see another revenue budget drop. >> You are correct. >> Unless unless our enrollment significantly comes up above the average, >> right? if somebody can figure out how to get kids to come back to school. >> The unfortunate part is like you said, it has to come up significantly because we're we'll be

037dropping that first year, which is high. So, you pick up another high. >> The average is actually 13 students. >> Actually, if it goes up very much at all, we would be better off to switch back to >> uh yearly instead of average. >> Yeah. Yeah, you're correct. I mean, I look at both every year, but >> Right. But if once we lose once we lose this last count, >> this last >> Yeah. Then every uptick means take that year. >> But right right now we're like 13 students below the average, >> right? But what I'm saying is okay. So we were at 199 198 uh virtually on the fiscal year 24. Um, if we come up very far from the 172 that we're at right now, then we would be better off to drop

038the holiday of the averages. And because that thatund in fiscal year 25 isn't going to make that much difference if we're not over 180. >> Mhm. >> And for a threeyear average. So, if we get anywhere close to 180, we'll be better off to to move up to we'll still probably lose a few dollars, but we'll still be better off to move up or to move it to an annual instead of an average. >> Um, the last thing under my report was an election update. So, um, we had one seat open and we've had one person put in. So Lacy and Vic will be elected by acclamation at our May board meeting. So no election for Smith Valley. She will be elected by acclamation. And at our May board meeting is when we'll do the

039reconsidering of the board and Jason will be done his policy committee seat. >> They're going to be so excited. Looking at you. >> Are you going to be here next month? I think that new one should do better. >> You got to give me a cake. >> Yeah, usually we do. Yeah, usually we do. >> That's what we've been missing all these all these meetings. >> If you're going to be out of town, though, I'm still probably going to get the cake just so I can eat it. >> I think you should. >> Okay. Um Joe, did you guys have any more meetings? Uh we have not had a facilities meeting since the last board meeting. >> Okay. >> So since we're going to be working on facilities stuff later, we'll bypass that. >> Okay.

040>> Um you have information on there. Melissa Martin is going to change lanes uh from BA30 to BA45. Um then we'll move into the action agenda. Um, so we are going to I need a motion to hire Chrissy Hansen as the summer school director. >> I'll make a motion to hire C. Hansen as summer school director. $500 stipen. >> I'll second that. >> Moved and seconded. All in favor? >> I. >> And I assume we're working on grants again. We already have it already. >> Already got it. Cool. >> I got it. Probably wasn't listening. >> Um, okay. Um, 300 building. We have roofing bids that are high. Um, so far it's not leaking. So it's not leaking. Um >> yes, we got two roofing bits and two demo bits. So I I kind of

041I broke them out for you guys to look at obviously, but I assume if you're going to make a motion, I just do it underneath of, you know, all of that and just make a determination based on those four bids if you want to move forward with any of those four options. So, >> okay. So, this is my this is my suggestion. I can't make the motion. So, um we have a limited amount of money right now. >> That building is not hurting anything sitting where it's at. >> Mhm. So I guess that my my brother's on it would be to table any any discussion on this on this building. Um until we do have to deal with it or we have the money to do something with it. One of the two. I think

042our priority has to be the gym building and the sighting on this building. Sure. Um I do agree with you on uh prioritizing the 100 and the 200 buildings. Um, you know, I got to thinking about this the 300 building we in the facilities committee we reformed I mean maybe 6 months ago or something and we came up with this list of here's all the improvements or the maintenance that needed to be done on the school and we were supposed to go out and seek bids so we knew how much we needed to spend as a school district to keep the rest of the school operating before we did anything with the 300. Right. >> I don't know that we've gotten all of those bids and maybe Jay, you can can speak to that, but

043I I feel like we're far short of having all of those bids. All the bids for which >> for all the other ones besides list >> well we do have a few but not all of them. No, like I told you guys earlier, it seems like nowadays you it's hard to get them. >> It's hard to get anybody. They're all >> back. >> They're all working. Yeah. >> And as long as they're working, >> um it's going to be hard to get them to >> Yeah. I mean, it took took a month and a half to get Artisan to finally pull the trigger, come out and look at it, and then another month to get them to >> Yeah. >> actually get a bid rail and and their bid was so far out of touch

044that >> Yeah. >> Um but but yeah, to my to my knowledge, there's no reason we can't just continue to use that building as storage. Um especially if we're not having any water issues. >> We're not right now. >> Um >> we haven't had a hard rain, but >> but we had a really hard snow with a lot of moisture. >> Yeah. And it didn't come through then. So yeah. >> Um I mean I just looked the cheapest bid to demo it was $190,000. And really the expensive part of demoing it is disconnecting it from everything. Um, but I when I talked I didn't get a bid from Curious because he he's real busy right now, but when I talked to him, he said it's just just getting rid of the material that's a lot

045>> is a lot of money because you can take it to the dump and you pay $39 a ton to get rid of it unless you can find a place to put it. I mean, it'd be great if we could just drop it in the ground and cover it up, but I don't think that's an option anymore like it used to be. So, so with our limited funds, um, if there's no objection, I'm going to table the 300 building for the time being. >> I would like to ask then, what are we doing for maintenance on that building? Are we done spending money on it? Well, >> that that would be my impression that we >> for the most part. Yeah, I think we are. I think you have some minor leaks that maybe we

046can, you know, get some patch kits and and put on when you need to. Um I know you're not a professional at it, but if it's just a minor leak and you can find where it's at, >> that's that'd be the problem. Find where it's at. But yeah. >> Yeah. >> Um >> cuz it's otherwise Yeah. a pop to >> I I was told that the second furnace went out. >> Yeah, >> we don't need heat in there. >> I just shut it off and left it. >> Yeah. I don't care if it gets down to 10 below. What do we need heat in there for? There's no water left in any of the >> No water shut off. So >> So there's no reason to have heat in it. So why why maintain heat?

047Why, you know? Yeah, I think you're right. We're done except for minor roofing things to keep it from. >> So I will add to >> keep mold out of it. >> So when the fire inspector was out, she went into that building because she said she goes in any building that could potentially be used in the future. >> And she said, as we've all talked about many times that that the building does have good bones and there's no reason we can't put a piece of it back together with time, >> right? >> So to to make it usable, >> there isn't in her mind. So, >> but there is when it comes to the state. >> So, as far as like you you'd have to do certain things like you'd have to do you'd have

048to do the roof, you'd have to make sure the bathrooms are up and working, they had heat, you'd have to make sure all that stuff, but then you could shut the rest off for cosmetic like building walls and that kind of stuff. You could >> I I just had an idea at one point and I don't know if it would work to move, you know, if if we got it to where we did get a roof on it to where, you know, it's good bones. We don't have to build. Would it work for a lunch building? >> Could we move the kitchen in there and just have a wide open lunch building? >> I don't I don't don't know. I can't answer the question because I know just just where Dorothy is right now talking

049about just the limitations of the kitchen that she has as far as >> like if she had an extra sink, she could do extra certain things. So, she doesn't have that extra sink and we don't have the drainage capability. The capacity is not there. There was just a question in my mind that popped in. Is there something we can use that building for? >> But it would be great to like use it for like our library or something and then get our lunchroom back. I mean, because we don't have a lunchroom over there. There's so many things that but getting back on track. Um, the one reason to keep the heat at like 40 or 40° even is to stop that wood from cracking and drying out the wood that's in there. So that'd be

050a a possible reason to keep heat. >> I'd have to talk to somebody to see if there would be any problem with that. >> But just something to think about. I know that, you know, just owning a piano makes me think, would I want that piano? And >> no, you wouldn't. But it's a piano. Um, but the wood the wood is the thing that is is going to be, you know, changed by really extreme heat or or >> chemical. But well, like I said, right now and and if it was something we decided to do in the future, we've got 7 months before we have to worry about eating. >> And yeah, it is free now, so we're lucky. But in the future, after we get everything else taken care of, maybe we go ahead

051and find out how much it would cost to set the cusses up a bit, which would preclude us from having to open up anything that might have asbestous. Now, Lacy and I look back and can't find anywhere where there was any asbestous found in the ceiling. But moving on, I think absolutely we have to take care of what we're using every day and that gym group is a priority and the sighting on this building is a priority. >> Well, and I'd like to reh highlight from the facilities committee Joe's comment about, you know, we took the time, a lot of time to create that document, >> right? >> We need to just drop this building and follow that >> follow the rest of that >> cuz we have lots of things. We have lots of

052things we can spend money on and that's not on the top of any I mean it's not even >> number 15 >> on the list. >> We have a really great 10-year plan. So >> I I would propose that the facilities committee gets back together and even if we don't have bids, we come up with the best number that we can on what we think that would cost >> just so we have a number moving forward >> based on what we have >> based on the list we have and and here's how much we think we need over the next 10 years facilities maintenance, >> right? >> It's a maybe throwing a dart at the dart board, but it's better than nothing. and you have pretty good ideas of where where those numbers come. So,

053>> I I I have no problem with that. You can call it, as far as I'm concerned, you can call a facilities meeting anytime you want. Um just between you and and administration and Okay. So, we're going to set that off to the side and we're going to move on to the bids for the 200 building. Um, >> Okay. We're going to start it. We've got three bids now. We're going to start this. >> Um, >> that top bit is >> Can I interrupt just a second? Just so you know, this is the 100 building. The gym building is 200 and the old building is a 300. >> You should look in the old building in the 300 building. One time when they tore everything out, they found the original school. >> Oh, that's cool.

054>> It's all still there. I mean, the the white siding and everything is all still there. >> The slate the slate boards. Oh, that's cool. >> Yeah. >> So, um we got three beds. Uh top bid uh you all saw is uh nowhere close. So, um, we can just kind of move on to bricks. So, I looked at all three of these bids and what I did is I took the total cost, divided it by the warranty lifetime >> to get the best annualized cost, and the brick system came out the best on that, the lowest annual, um, which is the spray-on coating over the existing roof. It's uh, yeah, what was it? $30,000 or something for that quote. Yeah. 32. >> 32. >> And then the warranty was a $2,500 adder for a 20

055year warranty. >> So say say we got $35,000 on that one. >> Yeah. >> Um just for information to Kyle uh from bricks if we give him this bid would be very interested in looking at our sighting job. I forwarded you guys an email from him too about the warranty. >> Yeah, that's what we were I fig we figured out how it works. It's kind of convoluted, but >> it's a little funky. Yeah, >> if you But if you figure what the way Joel figured it for square footage, we would have to pay the the minimum. It would be the minimum. So my recommendation would be the bricks bid >> based on the annualized cost alone. >> It's it's the cheapest and it's the cheapest in the long term. So >> did you have any

056recommendations based on your interactions with either of the >> I've taken bricks also. >> Okay. >> So I've never met anybody from Advanced Roofing. I talked to Kyle at Bricks for a good while um the other day when I called him for the warranty information and seems like a good kid. He's a go-getter. He's hungry. Um we just I guess you know I mean he basically he told me if I'm not the lowest bid let me know I will be. So, >> okay. You're not He's very um I didn't tell him that I don't believe in working like that. >> Post it up. >> Yeah. Your your bid is your bid and I don't believe in going back to people and saying, "Hey, I I want you to to change your bid because you were."

057But uh >> Well, how long has that How long has that material been out that he's been using? >> That I don't know. Has he did he say anything on it or >> he told me they use it everywhere they used they were putting it on a building in Lakeside when he first come out here. >> Okay. >> But I don't know how long they've been using it. >> Well, did you hear anything on it? >> Uh not on this product in particular. >> Okay. >> I also liked his bid. Basically, just the way he wrote his bid. I >> mean, he told us, "Yeah, we'll clean it up. We'll It's a nice clean bid. It says, "Hey, we'll clean up every day after ourselves." Yeah. >> Um, nobody else said that. >> So, you

058know, unless you put it in contract, there's no guarantee. And, and I know a lot of roofing companies that make a real big mess and cause a lot of flat tires because they don't clean up. >> Yeah. >> It is a very professional looking bid in my It is. >> It is. Um, he is the cheapest. I have no problem with that. Um, I don't know how durable. I mean, the the the warranty looks good. It doesn't look like something you'd want to go walk around on the roof very often with. >> Um, but then I don't think advance is either because of the foam underneath their correct they're locking. >> So, if it's a good coating, you don't have to walk around on the roof. That's the >> That's right. The point. >> That's

059right. Point is, we don't want to be back up there. >> And most of our >> the coating is really an add-on because most of our problem is with loose screws. I mean, that's already in there. You tighten the screws up and that roof would probably be fine by itself for another 5 10 years. >> So, I I'm totally for it. Jason, you have anything to add? >> No, I I like the bed. I I don't under necessarily understand other than Joe's comments. I mean, it sounds like we did some assessment. Joe did some assessment on the, you know, the the warranty term and compared it to price. So, that those questions were asked, it makes sense. If it's a quality product and the finish is good, let's go with it. >> Um, did you

060look at that bid sheet or the warranty sheet that he sent out? So, >> you know, it just makes sense to me. by the 20 year. Um, at least we're covered. And then, uh, when we when we award him the bid, we'll I'll put him in touch with you, Jay, and have him come out and look at the sighting cuz he did say he would be interested. >> All right. >> I'd like to review the sighting bids at the April meeting. So if anyone else has because I've I've received one but we received it Friday. So it was well or >> I received it I received it actually the Friday that you left. Okay. >> So we had already written the agenda. >> That was from I think for deciding >> um I did reach

061out to him today because it's currently the bid is currently scheduled to expire 2 days before our next board meeting. So I asked him if he would adjust the expiration date on his bid so that it would be good for our April meeting. But my point being if anyone else can collect any other side >> that was the other problem I had with the advance cuz his bid is expired. >> Yeah. Well, we only we definitely want to discuss two to three bids at our April board meeting for sighting. So, um, that was my only other question on the roofing and maybe you guys you just want to work it out, but are we shooting to do that this summer when kids are not present or are we wanting to >> start right away because

062it's on the roof and doesn't really >> Well, how bad is it leaking? It's >> not leaking right now. >> Not right now. >> Not at this minute. >> So, I think one question. I guess I guess the first thing we do is ask Kyle when he can get to I mean is is >> so summer school starts the last week of June and goes through July. >> Um so we have a >> and there's not enough kids here. I'm not worried about summer school because you don't have enough kids here to worry about the construction project. And I would I would suggest that he work on the off side of where you're going to have students. Um, I would guess that he's going to work off the parking lot side and work over the

063top. >> So, he called me tonight and asked me how how the meeting went. >> Yeah. >> I said it has I'm at it right now, >> right? >> I'll let you know. >> We'll call him. >> What else did you have, Josh? >> Well, no. I was just wondering cuz like Bob said, I mean, when you look at it, a lot of it probably is the screws. >> Mhm. >> What does it cost for them just to rescrew everything? Well, he's got that in here. >> When you look at that, $95, >> right? I mean, >> and Jay checked into that. >> Yeah, we haven't come out before. And them are the largest screws. So, some of them screws are stripped. >> I still think covering it is a good idea. >> Well, yeah.

064No, I do too. I was just kind of looking at all the options, but but yeah, he does. >> I >> They don't make any longer ones. From a from a budget standpoint, I think that it would be wise to approve the roof on the 200 building because we can use our state major maintenance aid money out of our building reserve fund, which we have not yet used this year. And that bucket refills for us. >> So, depleting that to fix this roof is wise cuz we're going to get it refilled. >> Is there enough there to do >> Yeah. How much do we have in there? >> Um, there's enough for this. >> There's enough for this. Yeah. Was there enough for the $116,000 quote? >> No. >> Okay. >> Uh I believe this

065>> completely re-roof it and then we're good for 50 years. >> I don't have the number off the top of my head, but I'm this year's small money was around 36,000. So >> So this is right in line. >> That's why I'm saying I would say like >> and then and then deciding we can use the the money or >> we could do that. We could still use more building reserve money. It just won't refill. >> Okay. >> Does that make sense? Like it won't refill. We'll we'll have to refill it over time. Um but >> so the state gives us x amount of money. >> Yeah. >> Mhm. >> And then the rest of it is building reserves out of our >> reserves. >> Out of our extra money every year, which we don't

066usually have much of. >> It takes a long time to refill that way. >> Yeah. Well, we haven't touched build reserves really for a while. So it has been refilling. >> Um so yeah, I would highly recommend doing >> No. Will that refill so we could use it for the sighting >> in time or No. Well, if you wanted to use it, if you wanted to use it for the siding >> and you wanted to use that refillable money, you'd have to wait until >> July after July. >> So, my recommendation would be to try to do the roof in June and get it paid for in June. >> Right. >> Or get it started in >> before May. Yeah. >> And that's what we'll ask Kyle tonight how soon he can start our house

067and he wants to start. And I mean he he may have a schedule out in the summertime that he wants to get this done >> now. >> Mhm. >> And and I'm okay with that provided he can work from the parking lot side and we just move our parking our lower parking for the time being. >> I I would guess springtime conditions are not going to be favorable for him. >> I would think >> he's going to need a several days of dry weather consecutive days. So >> we're coming up on that. Yeah, April doesn't do it quite, but if he can do it in May, I would >> Are we ready for a motion? >> Okay, I am ready for a motion. We should actually >> I will make a motion to approve the

068brakes system estimate with the 20-year warranty. >> Second. Moved and seconded. Is there any other discussion that needs to be brought up? Seeing none. All in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Anybody opposed? Okay. Kyle would will be a very happy camera. >> Okay. Thought we'd get through that quickly. uh to the building. >> Okay, we got D intent to impose an increase or decrease in levies. What's explained? Uh this is the notice that's in law in statute that we have to put it in the paper by the end of March >> and it's our best guesstimate as to what we think the increase or decrease in levies is going to look like when we do the budget when we approve the actual budget in August. >> Right. >> It's um will most likely

069not match this resolution when we do the budget in August. But this is our best guesstimate as of >> now. These are those provisional levies. These are the permissive levies. >> Permissive levies. >> Yeah. So, these are the um in the past I've listed general fund on here. I took it off because now that the funding is countywide, it's it's uh the GTV is calculated differently. It's very convoluted to list the general fund now. So, now I'm only listing the permissive levy funds. So, transportation, tuition, and building reserve are the only ones for us. >> So, okay, those are the three that are a motion. not allowed to discuss. >> Yeah. Was nobody want to make a motion? I was getting out of there. I'll make a motion to the resolution of 26-2 intent to

070impose in an increase and decrease in levies. I'll >> second. Moved and seconded. Is there any other discussion? Just so everybody knows those are my two least favorite words in the honor school board is permissive le permissive. >> Okay. All in favor? >> I >> opposed. Okay. That passes. Uh one last thing to to go on here. Uh school calendar for next year. I'm going to assume this runs very much concurrently with district 5. >> Um, yes. The main thing is that the spring break is exactly the same. We're starting the same time that they are. Um, our ending date is I think it's pretty much the same time that they are also ending. Um, so we worked this year to make sure that we um were giving back our recess time to our fourth

071and fifth graders. Therefore, we had to add a few student days, which are still within 187 calendar days. And we also were able to get in some teacher work days, especially at the end of the quarters when they were uh wanting to have some work time to to get their uh everything done that they had to do at the end of the quarter right after grades were due. Um and uh a nice winter break for all the kids. two entire weeks and the teachers have two weeks minus one day for winter break because they're coming in on the 21st of December. Um a couple of early out days, those are the purple early release days. 1:30 we would get out and that's time for us to have staff meetings or um a couple of maybe

072a half hour or somethings. So our day is very tight going 8:15 to 8:45. We don't really have time for staff meetings. So we tried to make sure that uh we do have team uh we do have uh grade level team meetings but that's not the same as a staff meeting but we wanted to make sure that we had time to have some meetings and plus some work days for teachers. Um and we're going to do that tribal P day again in September. So we have been invited this will be our third year going to that and the teachers love it and they get a lot out of it and it puts us uh working collaboratively with the tribe and doesn't cost us a dime. So they are Miranda uh Berland is really really wonderful

073about that. So and they're excited to have us. So uh I think that the calendar is a great calendar and if we're >> so you don't have your every >> not the day off. >> Uh so so we have >> October there's no days off. >> So for kids >> you have releases >> for for kids. Uh, so kids have the 15th and 16th off >> because it's 78 days. >> Okay. Yeah. It's just not marked, >> right? So it's not like a regular staff Monday if that's what you're talking about. It's not it's not the same thing. >> And you're not going to do that? >> We're not going to do that this time. No. >> Okay. >> We are uh have worked out the calendar. So the very last day for teachers, June

0747th, uh is basically a trade day for them if they attended the Christmas program and if they attended um the open house and if they drove to the tribal PI because it's in it's in Ronan. So you know so all of that adds up to be the equivalent of a day. So that's a trade day if they go to those functions. >> Okay. So 187 days for >> 187 days for teachers and 176 days for students. >> Okay. >> The starting and ending times each day is the same as this year. >> It's going to be the same as this year. Yes. >> You know, a lot of ways parents will appreciate the no staff days. Do >> we have any questions about the calendar? It had uh I think four revisions before we finally

075decided on this one >> spring break same week. >> Mhm. We do have the early releases for parent teacher conferences in November. One thing that is different is the past two years we've had a winter winter spring com not spring conference but a winter parent teacher conference day in January and they have been so poorly attended uh that if a teacher needs to meet with a parent they can call them and have them come in. They've been so poorly attended. So they still have a workday on January 22nd after the end of the quarter. But as far as having an actual formal parent teacher conference day, the attendance has been very low. So, um, >> so you're going to do those two after November. >> Uh, so we're doing those two in November, which we

076always do. And, uh, the January one, which is the one I tried to get going. We tried for two years, and the attendance was was terrible. So, if a teacher needs to meet with a parent, they can do it sooner than later. They can do it anytime that they want at their discretion. >> Okay. Uh, do we have any buffer days in here for snow days or anything like that? Any of those days that are marked in orange could be a buffer day. So, April 2nd would probably be the one, the buffer day if we ever had to cancel school. Are we so tight that we don't have a free day if we had one snow day? >> Um, so no. I If we had one snow day, we're leaving our hours. So, okay. We

077have to do then we'll have to make it up. >> Okay. >> Yeah, that's what we've been doing for a while now, I guess. Okay. Uh, do I have a motion to approve the calendar? >> I will make a motion for the 2026 2027 school calendar. I'll second. >> Moved and seconded. All in favor? I >> I >> opposed. Motion passes. >> Okay. Do we have any correspondence? >> Any special discussion? >> Okay. >> Do you want me to just send an email after committee meeting? Straight.
