Do we have any public? >> I don't think so. >> Stay up here. >> No public comment. As we move on, uh, at this time, uh, I do need a motion, uh, for the consent agenda. >> Make a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> Motion by Cory Mlan. Do I have a second? >> Second by Matthew Reese. All in favor say I. >>

I. Motion approves. Um, at this time we are down to the report section of our meeting and our CFO Sharer Mafy. Thank you, Shar. Um, tonight I have a couple of the thing of things. The first one is budget amendment number nine and that adds additional aotments to summer reading camp, DSSF funding, children with disabilities, academically gifted, limited English and at risk. These allotments were added because of the play pan pay plan reserve. I have no idea what that is in my 25 years. I have never heard of that, but we will we will gladly accept it. Thank you. >> We we also have additional funds to classroom teachers, CTE months of employment, literacy intervention, and EC special state reserve. And I am asking approval for budget amendment number nine. >> Uh board members, uh

do I have a motion to approve um was that number nine? >> Yes. >> Number nine. Do I have a motion? >> I make a motion. >> Second. Motion by Shannon Oxentine, second by Anthony Mlean. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Motion approved. >> And the next um thing that is uh very exciting is um I brought this to you last year and we have received funds again this year for supplemental funds for teacher compensation bonus. These fund the funds for this bonus are provided by the legislature e each year. The bonus is permanent but the amount of funding is not guaranteed. The bonus can be paid to certified teachers and instructional support personnel who are coded to a school. Funds cannot be used for assistant principles principles or assistant off central office

personnel. The supplement amount is determined annually based on the state funding and the number of eligible employees. This year, our allotment is 1,938,488. The amount must cover the supplement and benefits and the maximum supplement a teacher can receive per legislation is $5,000. These funds were loc uh were allotted for the first time in 2122 in the 2122 school year and we establish the criteria that we use for those bon the bonus and they are the teacher salary schedule has incremental steps. Employees from zero to 14 years receive a yearly increase for each step. The steps on salaries 15 through 24 is the same. The sa the salary on step 25 and above is the same. Since the salary is the same for those steps, they do not receive a salary increase for an additional year

of service. The teacher and instructional support personnel on steps 16 through 24 and 26 or greater will receive the maximum of $5,000. The remaining funds will be divided equally among the remaining eligible employees. To be eligible for the supplement, employees must be in active employment on May 15, 2026. The supplement will be paid on June 30th, 2026. Are there any questions? >> Thank you. >> Appreciate it. >> Next on the agenda is a human resources report from Dr. Alicia Poor, assistant superintendent to the budget that was present for CFO. Sorry. >> She presented addendums to the budget that were discussed, right? So, we need to approve those. >> We did vote on those. >> So, okay. So, everything's >> Yeah. All right. >> We voted on the amendment. There was no need to vote on

the uh >> Yeah. >> The other thing. >> Well, I'm talking about the the pay adjustments and all that. There's just because we're following legislative requirements, we don't need to vote on that. >> No, sir. >> Okay. >> You good? Dr. Alicia. >> All right. Good evening, uh, chairman, vice chairman, board members, and Dr. Griffin. You have before you the usual and customary personnel agendas. Uh, may I have a vote on that, please? >> Make a motion that we approve the human resources report. >> Second. >> Motion by Matt Reese, second by Anthony Mlan. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Thank you very much. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Next on the agenda is a superintendent report from Dr. Bill Griffin. >> Thank you, Chairman Dagenheart. Members of the board, um I'd

like to first begin uh and this is not in my superintendent's report, but uh unfortunately last week on March 12th, we lost a dear friend and colleague uh here at the central office. Uh Miss Kim Fox uh passed away uh last week. uh she was a again a dear friend uh over 20 years of service uh here to our central office and I know she meant a lot uh to those around us. So at this time I just like to honor her. Uh I know tomorrow at Cross Point Church in Taylorville. Uh they'll be having a service there uh from 4:00 to 5:00 and then followed by a graide service at 5:00 pm. So, uh just a real tragedy uh for our work family uh and those that that knew her. Uh she was a

fine fine person. So, just appreciate um her friendship more than anything. Uh the next piece uh that I have uh for superintendent report uh is the fact that uh on Thursday uh the 19th uh at 6:00 p.m. uh we'll be having a meeting at Ellenell Elementary School uh where we have renamed Ellen Elementary School the new school of innovation and inquiry. Uh this meeting at 6 p.m. will be in person and will be for those parents who uh would like more information on attending for next year. And those will be for parents that are outside uh the current Ellen school district. So those parents that are we had a meeting a couple weeks ago for those that are already going to school at Ellenale. Uh but this meeting will be for those who are outside

of the district or that may have questions about what the school represents and what that looks like for next year. So that'll be again at Ellenale on Thursday uh the 19th at 6 pm. Uh, I'd like to say that we're we're honored that at Sugarloaf this this past week uh past weekend uh they did a a filming from the North Carolina Educational Lottery system. Uh they had contacted me uh some time ago and I had put in uh an application uh for them to uh use Sugarloaf in some of their their media events and commercials. Uh and they came and actually on Friday and spent Friday, Saturday and and all day Sunday filming uh there at Sugarloaf Elementary School. So, here in the coming months, um hopefully that'll be being aired uh on TV in

our in our local broadcast and giving us a lot of recognition of those lottery funds being used in our public schools in state North Carolina. So, very proud of of what that final product will be. Uh the director told me that once they they have finalized that project that they'll give us a video clip uh to which I'll air here live for us and then hopefully we'll begin seeing that on the the local broadcast channels. So big news for Alexander County Schools. Yes, sir. >> Um in your packet you also see a um a blueprint of a picnic shelter. Um that shelter does not need to meet the criterion for a board vote, but I did want to bring it to your attention. Uh this project has been underway for some time. Uh we refinished

and and reurfaced our tennis courts uh last year. Uh with that project, there was also to be uh walkways and cement walkways and then it was also a shelter that was going to be built there. Uh certainly appreciate Mr. Brian Davis, our maintenance director, uh for pulling that together. But hopefully here in the next couple weeks, uh we'll have a nice shelter uh for those on our tennis teams and also for our community. Uh we want our facilities and they are used by our community members often uh and we want to have something very very nice here on on this campus. Um and then finally uh spring break is coming up uh on April 3rd through through the 9th for our traditional schools and the early college has had some of their spring break and

have another day or so. Uh but I just want to challenge uh all of our schools. Uh we're getting very very close. Uh we're kind of we can see the finish line. Uh we know that spring gets here and and we all get just a little bit of excited. Uh but but we've got to finish what what we started this school year. And I challenge our our students uh I challenge our staff to hold true to all of our goals and aspirations that we have uh and try to bring those to fruition here in these upcoming weeks. But uh uh th that time will pass and and before long we'll we'll be at graduation. Uh and the final thing that I have here, just some important dates that we have on 3:20 uh 2026, Head

Start Health and Safety Fair. That'll be at the First Presbyterian Church from 1 to 3. On the 27th, uh the AEC uh will be a student day. That was a teacher work day had been changed because of our snow. On 4:30, April 3rd, is our Good Friday. That'll be a holiday for our school system. Uh and then the 6th, that following Monday, uh will be a work day for Alexander Early College. Uh and then that week is that spring break for our traditional schools. Uh and then uh 46 through 410 that week is also assistant principles week. So certainly want to honor our assistant principles. We have several in attendance this evening. Uh we appreciate the hard work that you do and dedication to our school system and we certainly are grateful for your service.

Uh and then finally, I I do want to bring to attention on that last Friday of spring break, uh April 10th, uh 2026 is now a regular uh scheduled student day. I know that there's not a lot of celebration out there about that date, but uh we we have to get that day in and honor our requirements uh calendar law. Uh so we look forward to seeing our students and staff back on that Friday the 10th. And that's all I have this evening. Thank you very much. >> Thank you, Dr. Griffin. I I would just like to say um you know my my my my daughter was part of the commercial at Sugarloaf and you know the marketing and branding from that and what uh Dr. Del Reva showed us tonight again we had meetings

earlier uh when this school year started about our brand about marketing about being the best choice for every child and this is how we get the message out. So I just appreciate uh Dr. driven in your you and your team getting that marketing material done because that's how we we we let everybody know that we're the best choice. So, thank you so much. >> Thank you for that. Appreciate it. >> Well, uh next on the agenda um is unfinished business, uh Dr. Alicia Clure, assistant superintendent of human resources. >> Hello again. All right. So for second reading, we bring back three policies. Um 6310, 7910, and 7450. Any questions about those? Okay. I would ask for approval being that this is the second read. >> Approve. >> Motion by Robert Aguayas. Second. >> Second by

Corey Mlan. All in favor say I. I. >> Motion approves. >> Thank you. I think there's one between. >> And now we have uh Jacob Le with some unfinished business to discuss around the school calendars. >> Calendar King. >> Good evening, >> members of the board. Good to see you guys. Um, I was here uh a couple months ago um requesting approval for the district calendar for 2026 27 school year. Uh I'm back tonight on behalf of Alexander Early College requesting approval for their calendar for the 2627 school year. Uh it matches all the state criteria. Miss Brown and her team work together in partnership with CVCC. All things are aligned there. I think all that's missing now would be approval. Uh, and any questions that you guys may have. >> Any question, board members?

>> Do I have a motion to approve the early college academic calendar? >> Motion by Robert Aguas. Do I have a second? >> Second by Anthony Mlan. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Calendar approved. >> Thank you guys. >> Thank you. >> Good job. >> Appreciate you. Uh, new business um from Dr. Alicia Clure, assistant superintendent of human resources. >> All right, one more time. Um, so we have a first street here, but before we get to that to the business, I'd like to ask that due to the fact that we are starting student enrollment right now. Um, this policy is dealing with tuition for discretionary students. And the one below it, that's 4135. 4120 just has some of the language in there, so it's not really a policy change. Um just a

couple of revisions. So I would like to ask if we could pass this one on a first read since we're doing enrollments really soon for students in district and out of district. >> Uh board members, Dr. Clar would like a motion to approve um tuition for discretionary students uh 4135 uh for first reading. Do I have a motion to approve? Make a motion to approve. It >> is both of >> 4135 and 4120. Excuse me. You're correct. Do I have a motion to approve 4135 and 4120? >> Make a motion. Make a motion to move as so read. >> Motion by Matt Ree. Do I have a second? >> Second by Robert Aguas. All in favor say I. I. >> Motion approves. >> Thank you, Dr. Thor. Uh that is everything. Uh board members um

like a motion to adjourn open session and enter into close session. Do I have >> a motion? Make a motion we close open s or close open session and enter close session. >> Motion by Anthony Mlan, second by Robert Aguas. All in favor say I. I.
