Good evening. >> I am here to represent the WA Patilla Alumni Incentive Award and the they are presented every year to one student at each elementary and middle school in the Edgecom um county public school system. Um so this year we are presenting the incentive awards um in honor of Mr. Jonah Williams. So, I'm gonna read a little bio for Jonah. Okay. Jonah L. Williams was born in Edge County, North Carolina to the late Dorsy
Williams and Belma Cleo P. He grew up in Princeville and had one brother and threes. He received his early education in Tallra City Schools. in Tallra City Schools and graduated from WA Batilla High School in 1963 where he proudly played the drones in the marching band. After graduation, Jonah moved to Washington DC before returning to Princeville, North Carolina. Upon returning, he became a skilled machinist with Carolina Pride. Jonah joined St. Luke Church of Christ in Princeville at an early age. He faithfully served as a steward, usher, trustee, and president of the Christian men's fellowship. Later, Jonah remained the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Buddhism where he was ordained as a deacon. He remained a devoted servant and provided photography and videography services to churches and community organizations. Jonah was married to Mary He of
North Carolina. They shared 44 beautiful years together. He was the proud father of one son and three daughters. A passionate mentor and community advocate. Jonah dedicated most of his life serving youth. He was a living legend in the field of youth sports in the town of Princeville. Coach Williams founded the town's first organized little league baseball team. The Princeville Braves later renamed the East Edgecomb Braves as youth from surrounding communities joined. The teams he formed were made made up of children from Princeville and surrounding areas and many had little to no baseball experience, but he coached his team to fourth championships. His impact extended far beyond championships. Coach Williams taught discipline, teamwork, education, and respect. He emphasized academic excellence and good character. Jonah never met a stranger. His life was a living example of what
it means to invest in others, uplift the community, and walk humbly in the world. We transition to glory on Sunday, March 1st, 2026. As I Excuse me. 008the uh Edge Academy uh trip to University of Maryland College Park. Uh their National History Day State winners. It's for June 15th through 19th, 2026. They've earned their way to go on this trip and I would recommend that we approve one. >> Anyone have any questions um about this trip? Hearing none. I assume everybody approves this. But I need a motion. >> Madam chair, I'll move for the approval of the one uh item one cons item consent item as presented by superintendent. >> Second. has been moved and seconded that we will approve item 4.1A, our consent item for the trip that has been presented by our superintendent. Any other discussion on the motion? All in favor of the motion, let it be known by saying I. I >> oppose the same sign. The motion carries.
>> That's a good trip. That's a good trip. >> That's a nice trip. >> Good trip. They work hard. >> Yeah. >> If a shepherd backs out, I'll take it. >> Okay. Item five. We'll go into our items for action. Madam Chair, this is a recommendation for approval of the purchase of 226 HP Chromebooks for West Edgeville Middle School students in the amount of $18,6318. It's from the U economically disadvantaged public schools fund PRC 251. And this is uh one-time money that's that uh schools get for earning uh exceeding growth. And the funds meant to support them for instructional purposes to continue to exceed growth. >> That's excellent. uh the 226 Chrome books. Will does that mean each student at that school has? >> I think we're pretty close. >> Yeah, we're pretty close to
it. I think their their current ADM is about 275 u with the funds that was available. That's what we could could purchase this time. And so we're hopeful that every um seventh and eighth grader will receive one of the new newer devices, but um the the sixth graders will still have a device. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. So we're not too much short about 50 short of everybody having a new device. >> Okay, that's great. Very good. Anybody else have a concern or a question? >> Just a question, Madam Chair. Is this This is the newer uh Chromebook. Yes, sir. We um we intentionally got the this Chrome Well, all the prices have went up um about 25 to about 40% in the last two years for Chromebooks. Um and so, but with this one,
we were able to get a um double the RAM. So, our traditional Chromebooks that we get for our students have 4 gigs of RAM, which is enough for them to do what they need to on the internet. But this doubles that RAM, and it's pretty much for what we got the same price as what we would have paid for for less. So they will have a um a pretty good device there for the next seven years we hope. >> All right. >> We still have the insurance on them. >> So insurance um have has run out on all the ones we bought at the beginning of ESER um if you remember in C um ECF um funds. So we were able to purchase devices at that time. That was um 2000 um when we purchased
most of those. Those have run out those warranties. And so now when there's breakages, of course, we have to um charge the students for the damages. And then we are also having to um cannibalize devices that are broke to get the parts out of it that are still good to continue to fix devices as they break. So we're making do with what we have. Um these devices will have a 4-year warranty on them or full coverage. So um if any damages happen, they they will get fixed. Oh, >> they have a warranty. That's good. Y Do we hear a motion, please? Somebody need to make a motion. It's an item action check. Madame Chair, I make a motion to approve the purchase of 226 HP Chromebooks for West Beach Middle School students from Farah in
the amount of $18,6318 using PRC251 economically disadvantaged public school support. has been moved and properly second that we will approve 5.1B to approve 226 HB Chromebooks for West Edgecom Middle School in the amount of 18,6318 and these will be purchased using our PRC21 one economically disadvantaged public school support funds. Any other discussion on the motion? All in favor of the motion, let it be known by saying I. >> Oppose the same sign. The motion carries. Thank you very kind. 5.3 >> What did that say? >> That's okay. >> 5.2. >> I think you better get two first. >> 5.2B. Uh recommend approval of HBAC replacement of two 10 ton HBAC units. The gym duck work change out at Phillips Middle School. This the low bid was $113,000 and $13 and $35,000. Um, and you see

And >> Madam Chair, can I make a note? Yes. >> Can we add that? That's with BMI Baker Mechanical as specified the vendor because there are three bids and that's the one
that's the 113,000. >> Okay. With BMI. >> Okay. >> I amend it to read the um >> BM >> the bid is is to BMI in the amount of $113,35. Okay. Okay, the amendment has been approved. Any other discussion on the motion? All in favor of the motion, let it be known by saying I. >> I. >> Oppose the same sign. The motion carries. Thank you. >> Okay. 5.3B. So, three bids on this item as well. Uh low bid was $28,500. Also, Baker Mechanical I'm moving back. I should see it. >> Oh, there it is. 28,000 >> 28,500 Does everybody see the amount? So, we can include that in the motion.
>> Just one question. Oh, that I see I got it. I see it. I see it. I was looking at the 30,000 for the vintage, but that this is BMI. >> Okay, got it. >> Right. Got it. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I would, Madam Chair, I move I I move that for the approval of the removal and replacement of existing commercial split HVAC system located above drop ceiling at Cook Wimbley School in the amount of $28,500 by Baker Mechanical. >> Second.
