We have uh two speakers. Marshial Williams the first speaker. Good evening, Chair Dr. Wilson, Superintendent Dr. Bryant, and members of the board and everyone in the building. I am Marcia Moy Williams at 3158, um, Stantonburg Road, Wilson, North Carolina, and I currently serve as the president for Edgecom County Association of Educators. Um, I'm also an MCL at Coco Wembley Elementary. I'm here tonight respectfully to

031ask that the board continue to support us and gaining the transparency that both employees and the public deserve. Over 90 days ago, our association sent written requests to the district's HR team and to Dr. Bryant. That request has not been responded to. It was rooted in our shared belief that clear, accessible information strengthens trust and improves our school. Yet to date, we have not received a response. Our questions were simple and entirely reasonable. What is the current classified pay schedule? What are the district's written guidelines for extra duties? How many current vacancies do we have in our transportation department? And finally, can we see the comparison of actual expenditures versus projected budgets so that we as educators, taxpayers, and community members can understand how our limited resources are being used? This is why we have

032asked and will continue to ask the board to meet us to meet with us and work with us to help us to pass a meet and confer policy. This policy is something that will help us be able to have the transparency work with the district in order to put out fires or celebrate wherever that is needed. It's an invitation, an open invitation to partnership. We just want to know the why. We just want to be a part of the dialogue that is happening about us without us. A bear, you can bring them to me. >> He hears my voice. So tonight, I'm asking that the board stand with us so that we don't repeat history. The history where workers didn't have a voice. The history where workers didn't have input into the things that were

033happening to them. The history that Jim Crow laws were put into place to hinder us from doing. We're asking tonight for the board to continue to stand with us, to ask the district to work with us on a meet and confer policy so that we can be respected informed and feel seen. I do everything that I do and I show up at every meeting because of him because I want him to have a public education. I want it to be strong and I want his teachers to have what they need. And I know that if we work together, we can make EdgeCom be the Edgecomb that we know all of our students deserve. Thank you. Our next speaker is Troy Cole. Good evening, Dr. Brian. Good evening, uh, board members and everybody in here. Uh,

034anyway, I'm uh, Mr. Colola, EC teacher at WA Patillo. You know, I love the kids. We all love the kids. Our number one goal, we want to work together. We want we want meet and confer and we just we we think Patillo is better when or not Patillo, I'm sorry. Edgecom is better when everybody works together. I'm just tired. So you're hearing the exhaustion of my voice. So pardon me on that. But short, sweet, and simple. We just we just want a seat in the table and a voice. That's all we want. So anyway, thank you. >> Thank you. >> I have one more thing to add. I'm sorry. >> Hurry up. I'm I'm sorry. My My bad. My bad. Okay. Also, we've got cafeteria workers that have been working for up to 12 years

035in the county and they're making the same thing that folks that are getting hired off the street into the cafeteria getting paid. So, you know, it's like there's no extra pay for seniority or anything. And our cafeteria workers, man, our kids don't eat unless they they're, you know, able to fix the food. And, you know, they deserve recognition, too, you know. So, anyway, thank you. Sorry. >> Thank you. Okay, we'll move to the next item on our agenda. We will move to our item number five, approval of our open session minutes. I believe the board has had an opportunity to read those. If anyone has any corrections, comments, we will listen to it at this time. Hearing none, I need to hear an approval of our open session minutes for December 15, 2025. >> Madam

Any other question? >> And just for the public that's that's at Fair View and and basketball. >> Okay. All right, thank you very much. Okay, item 6.3 sites. >> Good evening, Madame Chair, vice chair, other members of the board, and superintendent Dr. Brian. Um, I'm here tonight to share with you um about our PRC 29 grant that we received. Um, this is a state grant that

044we get yearly. Um we typically get between like 60 and 90,000. Um about three years ago, Dr. Battle and I partnered together to increase the mental health services for our parents. Um and um got in touch with DPI last year to have them come do a walkthrough of the comprehensive program that we have created in the hopes that we could apply for the comprehensive grant this year. And so what they're looking for is what type of mental health supports and behavior supports are we providing um and that we had a sustainable program going before they would um allow us to potentially get that funding. And so this funding will um help us have additional behavior support mentors, um additional mental health access to day treatment, medication management, um and counseling within the schools. Um and

045it will strengthen our school-based counseling and data tracking, um our crisis response and deescalation, um and expand for preventative interventions. >> Thanks, >> Madam Chair. If I may say just sites and Dr. Battle and the whole team for putting all this together and all the hard work they put in it makes world difference. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you. >> Okay, we move to item seven and committed reports. 046teacher cadet course for overnight trips. Um the u early college high school going to the uh national Smithsonian national zological park. Um extended day trips for athletics uh and STEM opportunities several different places. I will I will make note of a couple of things. Um, you'll see North Edgecom listed on the ed extended day trips and you'll see grades 6 through 11 or maybe 6 through 12. That's because they're accompanied sometimes in those trips by by Phillips Middle School. So that that's why why the expanded grade levels are there and uh that those trips some of those trips are for STEM events at NC State and a lot of athletic trips on here and other field trips. So, and then we have fundraisers at Philip Stocks, two of stock, three, four stocks, excuse me, for
