I will now entertain a motion to adopt the agenda. So, we need a second. Those in favor say I. I. I I thank you. Any object? The agenda has been adopted for this evening's meeting. This is the first opportunity for community comments. We go there. Thank you. This is the first opportunity for community comments. When it's your turn, a moderator will identify you by name and then grant you access to speak. Are there any hands that are raised? Okay, then we can move on to the director's report. Mr. Carpenter, it's for directors. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to just report on all the fantastic things going on at Scholars Academy. go the first slide there tonight going to be talking a little bit about celebrations our academic calendar uh coming up academic program I know we're going to ask for a vote on the board on track renewal and then I'll be happy to answer any questions that you may have

next slide we are exciting uh we are in field back here at Scholars Academy. And here are some photos from our K4 field day. Uh a lot of water and sun and fun. Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy the first part of the morning because of storms. Uh but the second part of the day after lunch, uh our K through fourth graders, they all got to get up there and get wet. So, it was a lot of fun there. So, it's first time I saw this and it was extremely well organized by Coach Kale. He did a wonderful job at the library parents. They were out there supporting him. So, it's it was a wonderful event and hopefully we're gonna have a great day tomorrow because we have our eighth graders through the park and

then they come back over uh after lunch or there um in the water. So, should be fun. Thanks. We had our eighth grade Washington DC trip uh which was a great success. Uh we had uh a ton of fun out there. Kids had a great time. I had nothing but great supports. I wish I could have gone myself. I love Washington DC. Uh but unfortunately I wasn't able to go this year. So but Mr. Hfner did an actual job lead that particular event. Next slide. We have our individual champions. We've had a lot of success uh just this month with a lot of folks being rewarded for their efforts in math. Uh we had a group our math kangaroo uh competitors uh were ranked in the top 10 in North Carolina and then our group

that went over to UNCC Charlotte actually got to drive this group over and got to see them compete. Uh they did a wonderful job. Super happy. Uh Mr. Chavevel as always does a wonderful job leading that group and that was at the uh place in the top 10 in the high school name competition. So we're excited about that. Uh the next one it lived up to all the hype. Uh man I I kept getting all all the teachers everyone was talking about how wonderful event this was and it was just over the moon. Just awesome event. Uh the art was amazing. Our teachers did a great job organizing this event. It was a truly a whole staff effort. Uh so uh excited for these young people as they got to perform that night and uh

just a wonderful event and of course we honored this goo who uh will be retiring this year uh our chorus band uh and then all the artists out there do a wonderful job. just a thankful event all and uh that brings us to our end of year academic calendar and I've just got a couple things obviously I don't normally dress like this to a board me uh meeting but this week is wellness spirit week uh as you know May is uh mental health awareness month and uh so this week did a great job of coming up with a spirit week that is focused on wellness and today was mindful mental so you have to wear some comfy and cozy clothes. Uh these are not the most comfy and clo uh clothes that I wear, but

it did today. It was nice not to wear a top. Uh tomorrow is true colors Tuesday. Uh and then we have wellness Wednesday and then talk it out Thursday, which is uh the 22nd and then fitness Friday, uh where we'll all wear our team jerseys or dress like an athlete. So exciting week. Um, and so we're excited about our kids uh talking more about mental health and uh wellness awareness. We do have a fifth through 8th grade field day tomorrow. Uh and then on the 21st we have new scholars day for all our first through 8th graders, our new first through eighth graders coming up. Uh and then on the 22nd is our PTO general meeting. Uh and the 23rd is we start our EOG and EOCC testing. And then that night we have a

night's baseball game, scholar spirit night. Our course is going to be singing at the national anthem. So that'll be exciting. Uh then the 26th we have Memorial Day, no school for our students and stuff. And then we're back to testing on the 27th through 29th. Uh then we go into June and I want to make sure everyone is pretty busy. Uh going June the 2nd, we have our first scholars grad walk at 8:30 where our uh class of 2020 is going to come back and they're going to walk with and we're going to celebrate excited about scholars in the spotlight will be 100 p.m. as our count show on that day. June the 3rd is awards day for fifth and sixth graders at 8:30. Uh then we have our yearbooks in and of course yearbooks

are for summer read. So if you haven't got yours yet, now's the time to get those. Uh and that will be from 11 to excuse me 10 to 11 25. And then we have your wildness fair uh from 1 to 3. Miss Chano has already got all our pals, those are student leaders to organize those uh different stations and the kids are going to get to go around and experience and learn more about Williams. And then June the 4th is award setting for seventh and eighth grade at 8:30. Our graduation props will be at 1:20 uh on June the 4th and then graduation will be that evening at 6. Uh and then I don't know someone told me to put student day. I don't know what that is. Uh and I don't I don't maybe

I don't want to know what that is, but anyway, uh Miss Eli asked me to put that on there. And then June the 6 is the last day of school early release on that day. Uh, and so that's going to be it. And then we'll have a little bit of celebration. Um, me to talk to you a little bit about the academic program, the improvements for next school year. Uh, we currently have, and we're very excited about this, we have a new theater arts class which will be provided for our third grade that will be an enrichment class. Also, we'll have a new enrichment class for our eighth grade. uh it will be a a combination of computer science sciences and a and study hall rotation. So you will have uh computer science first semester

and if you have it first semester then second semester you would have a study hall and then vice versa. So it will swap uh that'll be in a rotation all our students will have then a new enrichment class for sixth grade. Uh we'll have theater arts there and a study hall rotation as well for those students. Uh then for we'll have French will be added to our fourth grade. So now we'll have Spanish and French in the fourth grade. Uh and seventh and eighth grade teachers uh as we had spoken earlier before we'll be teaching five four subjects instead of four so they accommodate our seventh eighth grade students for next school year. U the next slide. That brings us to the board and track renewal. Uh I have the renewal start date for that

is 2021 and there is the price. We've not negotiated anymore with that particular company but it is for a full year 2025 26. Yeah, I believe we're supposed to bring that to a vote. So, um, do they only offer one year? I don't know. I think historically that's what we've done. Um, but we could we're waiting on the response to the outreach to negotiate the the fee. So, so this would be the max. So, as we consider the vote, I would word it as loop to versus approving that. Oh, go ahead. I think last year it was 6500 maybe. Yeah. Um, for new scholars day this week, how many students are we expecting? To look and see. I think it's under 20. It's my understanding. So this was not equal kindergarten since we had that

in the and they're still final finalizing those numbers. They're still a couple of not responding but it'll be pretty much the same well it's not the same format but we'll still get to meet with parents early in the morning. Then they'll get a a buddy that they'll go around through the bullet hers buddy uh to go around and then my understanding is a little bit after lunch any of them. This will be my first time seeing this, so it'll be exciting. interesting to academic um programs like computing science classes is that I know that um I think DPI or um implement any requirements for computer science doesn't that in response to that are we comp with going into computer science this will be just the introductory computer science portion uh and it will not be

uh an elective. It will be an enrichment. So it will be get enough time in class to to do that. It's only eighth grade DPI requires. It's the only one that we're giving it to this year. Yeah. We can do seventh grade, eighth grade. We're just eighth grade this year. Okay. Be teaching it. Let me see. give you a curriculum or is that something that we develop? They do have a with the free version that they can Okay, we could have gone with the uh there was another there's a couple that we could have gone with. We just felt like that was the basic one. Yes, we it's sufficient for students. Not sufficient for anyone. And obviously you can always take that grade and add to any any uh classroom you can differentiate the description

to make it more difficult for English with student. Then what's what is the fourth grade language setup now since we're adding French? Yes, we just had that slash. So we only give we were able to add Miss Benelli some more time to her contract and so therefore we were able to give both options now Spanish and French. So otherwise fifth grade is the first time French has taught. Oh he's in fourth grade and he's talked about learning French. That's what I was told that they don't get to they only get that choice maybe only once. But beautiful. I think he has gone for green, but I'm not sure how much it is. Finale. Yeah, I don't know the details. What the idea about the uh computer lab? I wasn't on the town hall, so maybe

just lab, excuse me, the language lab. We talked about that, but it was put to the side. It was just something that I don't think a lot of people were in favor of. Okay. Um, you know, it's something we can still explore, but if we get once we get our feedback from our survey and parents are in favor of getting more language on it just so happened today, I found out we there's possible Latin teacher out there who would actually like to come here. So, you know, who knows if you get the right teachers. I like the idea of having a a language lab. That way, you get to explore because we we've heard from different students that they like to learn Italian. They like to learn uh for some people that have said that

it's Italian. Um I think that was the one that we were talking about that we were kind of surprised by. So you know just options but right now looking at Spanish and French and all right Mr. car. Um, guess so. But that would be I'm looking to see evidence. Is there any other things that look like any other? We can wait to just in case. Yeah, that's a good point. Thank you. Did not catch that. Yeah. Okay. Thank you. Do we need to vote now? No. Just in case there are things to Well, I got that you were saying we could vote but then amen. That's my Yeah. Great. All right. Thank you, Mr. Carl. and we'll move on to the governance committee. So, we've started the executive director evaluation process. It's a 360 review

of our executive director. So, thank you Carper for finishing your end of the bargain. Um, we've this process includes feedback from staff and administrator and the board. So, we're still working through getting all of that. Um, but we're in the middle of it and we expect that to finish before the end of the month, I think, is a good estimate. Um, and then the other item from governance is about board recruitment. Uh, unfortunately, we still have zero applications come in. Um, we are in need of at least one pulp opening for next year and potentially a second pening. Um, so we do need members of the community to um nominate themselves or come up to someone else that you think might be interested um in joining the board. So we invite teachers and staff, parents

um to speak to people who they think would be a good fit and put their name into the application process. We'd appreciate that. or they don't want to talk to them, but they might think they might be they might want to close us to know. We'd be happy to reach out. Yeah, that's a good point. So, if you think there's someone that's a good fit, you can tell us and then we'll we'll reach out to them as well. Um, if you don't want to reach out. Question, please. because I mentioned this at the town hall and I know like it sounds hilarious but I'm wondering because I know you're in touch with other charter leaders and things like that like is there any way that we can reach out to the community at Long Beach?

Is are there people that might be willing to volunteer on this board because of their level of education or gifted education or whatever. I mean, nonprofit boards have Yeah. people in the community who are not associated with their being on the board. No, I know. But I know it's not a prerequisite, but I'm just saying like if there's anyone who has an interest, I'm thinking someone with an interest in education or gifted education might be someone who would want to be on the board. I know it's not a prerequisite, but like we're struggling to find those volunteers in our parent community or our teacher community. Can we cast a wider net? And do we have people that you have had discussions with that might have contacts with others that might be interested in joining organiz

I'm shooting at you because I know that you have conversations with peopleated with or Erica because you were the board director. He did make it. So, um, at one point, I don't remember what year it was, AJ and I, cuz AJ worked for Wells Fargo, he had made an offer and think through his HR to see if there's anyone in Wells Fargo and I had made an offer with my law firm because I think as a young attorney being on the board of a nonprofit looks great on a resume, we just we didn't get the power. I still think it's a great idea and we obviously still you need someone finance. So like if anyone Yeah, I still think it's a great idea. We just have to make a concerted care and what it looks

like. Um because I do I mean being a young lawyer I mean I was like you can come places where I can be where and so like the reason I was asking you about the connections with other charter leaders is do they happen to know a good way to go about recruiting someone like that with beyond just asking your company you know like are there avenues I don't know you know I think it's really leveraging your network And I tried to get a former parent like from late so kids are in their 30s and who's retired and I was like this is cool kids would do you want to come back to school but the feedback was actually because I don't have a kid right now in the school I don't have the same level

of the right word you don't want the best for the school but I just don't want to connect maybe that's not the person specifically. Yeah, there could be alumni, there could be parent alumni that would be interested or um if not like I think that's very interesting. I didn't know that there was a draw for like young professionals. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of future past students. Yeah. So, they're asking for the whole community to leverage all of their networks, whoever it is. I mean, we don't have a specific um vehicle to recruit kind of those quote unquote third parties. Um but we're asking everyone to and persons on deck kind of thing. And then Tony has been working on um building the network, the alumni network. Perhaps she can just reach out to that. Yeah,

we can include that in Sorry, you've had we'll make sure because I know um that's being put on the uh alumni survey. Well, I know we're having an alumni survey. I can make sure that something like that is included. Yeah, because it doesn't have to be this year, but we can certainly keep in touch and keep it warm. The alumni the alumni is a great idea. I wasn't and then like if we have the opportunity to do it via the survey. Sounds like a Yeah. a feasible tactic mean given that we have at least two right did you say positions to fill maybe more at least one potentially two I just think that we need to pass on netwide not just I mean in general too I think you need to have different perspectives something

short in the past. Is this is this our um I'm just curious like is this a phase or is this is this normal state of affairs where we don't have Yeah, maybe. Yeah, that's what you're asking. It's not an odd situation that we're in. Okay. But we will continue to promote and even though um it's the end of the school year, it's really just making connections with parents to introduce how they could help really shape scholars the next five years. So, it's all of our responsibilities for sure. Well, thank you for the update, Enrique. Zero as of yet. I like that. Yet, it shall change. All right. So, next we have DEI. D, do you want Sure. Can Can uh can everyone hear me? Okay. Yeah. Okay. So on DNI compliance update and I call

it compliance because it's really not a DNI update as I would have wanted to be talking about how to continue to bring and foster diversity but for today's topic as you um might have seen if not um I'll go through it real quick uh background here but as you may from I think it was the last mean meeting the board the governance committee brought to our attention um the fact that we had Mr. Carper what we had to have we had to sign a basically a certification um regarding legal obligations undertaken in exchange for receiving federal financing assistance in particularly related to title 9. um we signed that certification and as a result the DNI committee met to um look into our whether that was policies, whether that was language, whether that was you know

mission, vision, anything to the effect that might be compromising um what we have um signed. Now we know that for a fact we are not um doing affirmatively uh anything that will violate those provisions. However, there are still some opportunity as how in terms of how we talk about DNI and in particularly uh two statements, the SD equity statement and a DNI action plan that in some ways touches to the sense I don't know how to phrase it in a way that it doesn't seem that um we're violating something, but in essence, it goes to the heart. um in particular when we talk when we say that we thrive to recruit diverse talent and staff. So I think that's really what gets at the issue. Other than that it's pretty much a language. Um I

shared to the by email like I I don't know if we can pull it um Enrique we're pulling it from the board but really it's really taking out the word inclusion sorry the word diversity and changing it to inclusion. when we say our community values and then in our page because we have the diversity, equity and inclusion statement, our proposal is to remove that for now um up and until further recommendation in light of these orders. And last but not least, rename our DNI committee. And bear with me because I can, you know, I could I I wish I was there to see all your reaction, but uh rename the DNI committee to inclusion and global mindset. So instead of DNI, IGM, I welcome your thoughts. Um but in light of having signing this um

and given that we may have not may not have another opportunity to come back to this it it seem timely to bring this now. Um in addition and I it might we might touch on this on the policy committee. We also heard from Miss Gordon Stella on an opportunity to purchase from the school. Um I mean from her an a basically a a a set of employee and student handbook like a template of employee student handbook. um that although we have not looked at it in detail to see exactly what the changes are but it's basically to mimic and to make sure that we are um that the handbook the student employee and student handbook it's not going against these title n considerations like to re reiterate what Danny has said we are not doing

anything that is illegal for that is not compliant. However, we recognize the sensitivity of certain words and language and that is our concern. It's just being proactive to make some adjustments which happens from time to time for a variety of reasons. So, just to modify some of the language and then for now, not that we change who we are, I think we're committed to um having an environment that is supportive of all. So, leading with inclusion that we would sunset one of the pages that really details the diversity, equity, and inclusion um goals that we have outlined. Any thoughts, reactions, concerns, comments? Don't just make sense um considering the environment. I mean, yes. I'm I'm curious where global mindset came from. I guess just and I think Danny's open to others. That was just yeah

it was just it was just an idea. It was just an iteration open to ideas. Um but yeah the committee as as such you know we're attesting that we are don't have any DNI and then we and then we have a committee just named that. We just want to make sure we rebrand that. Um I personally chose in I I came up with inclusion and global mindset just because that's how that's the value that the company I work for um they we the company retain a consultant and that's and that's how we was branded from DNI to inclusion and global mindset. Okay. I can't think of another option. I know. And we don't need to make that decision now, but Okay. Um but I figure if we're making a vote all in and doing this

update in the page now, we can do it all at once. Yeah. Well, name, but I guess we're making the recommendation is to make changes to our Oh, the mission equity statement, right? And the DEI action plan will then be um our community. Yeah. And our community values, instead of saying diversity, collaboration, and vibrancy, we're going to say inclusion, collaboration, and vibrancy. We're we're retiring the equity statement from the page and the diversity um uh DNI inclusion goals that has the details. So we're going to retire those and then rebrand the DNI inclusion committee to inclusion and global in global mindset committee. I think about the first not the committee name but the patience we should so this is silly the whole thing said that's exactly what I was going to say. Should we say

from different backgrounds? Um, instead of from diverse back in the um in the mission, should we change it to highly gifted children from different backgrounds or multiple I don't know what's a synonym for? That's the mission statement right there. Yeah. No, I'm trying to think of a synonym for diverse various backgrounds. the word diverse which is completely ridiculous. I know the entire payation then agreed that diverse should be changed to different for the absolutely ridiculous and silly but I understand why we're doing it all this but it's not going to impact our underlying value no continue to do Amen. Yeah, that'd be the the one change I would make. Yeah. Okay. Just double check on if there are any other references to the word diverse. I don't want anybody to do any search fs. Yes.

Exactly. And for the student handbooks and staff handbooks, I know those are usually worked on over the summer. Um, I believe we just had reinvent, but I may be wrong. So, I'd be reluctant to get entirely new policies, especially if we're just changing the word here or there for those policies. It's it's a small investment. Mhm. That might be worth a starting point because my understanding is we don't know the last time we got a template. It's just been modified here or there. Wrong is check but it's a small investigator. Correct. I would you know and with the understanding that it's just guidance equal schools very is a lot different than other child motions. Yeah, that's what it should be. Should be guided. Be a Bible. To my experience, too. Erica, I think I missed

that. So, are you saying like the the the templates form from Miss Miss Gordon Stella? Is that what you're referring to? Yeah. That that we should uh we should not take it as as is, right? Is that the feedback? Yeah. Yeah. You just have to modify. Yeah. You would need to modify it because um that that's why I just don't know the value. Well, and what and what I was curious was, okay, so we're getting this template because there are all these series of updates regarding title 9 that go to employee and student handbook. Okay, but what exactly is that? that was think what what so I think going back and just making sure that we get the hallmarks of that um understanding a we're not going to necessarily take it as is and b

what is really at issue from from our p from the practic's perspective like what is it that we would need to change um that we need to bring I mean I would I would be curious to know what what what exactly is that cuz it's not recruiting. It's not What is it? I don't know. You're suggesting we do not work with those tablets. This is still over. Well, that one I think we can Yeah, we can make a decision separately because it doesn't have a threshold. So, it doesn't need to come before. Mhm. Yeah. No, I was just I was just bringing here like, hey, like you're also it's not only there's going to be, you know, we're making these changes here, but there may be others more on the on the student handbook side

as well. Okay. Any other question? I think that's it. Yeah. Any questions? So, um Okay. So this is marked as well. Thank you for doing all that. That's a lot of work. It's a DNI backlash committee the DNI what committee um change it to a symbol like friend how do you phrase this vote amount two things I think you have to and then to add that vote too right well vote okay never mind it does have vote right um so it's is that the equity state or is the mission statement. We want to get the wording right. I looked like the mission statement doesn't that much read in the beginning of the mission statement but then but then references equity on the website. [Music] We have a diversity equity including statement on the website. I

don't think that needs to be I can imagine that being a board vote. It depends if if we did did anybody look to see if there's a policy on it? a policy on we could just do a board vote anyways. We needed to have an equity conclusion statement. We just say visions to the mission vision and values. I want you to see is the vision social that's appropriate social change to um embrace flexible and able to embrace diversity of thought. I mean I think it doesn't even fall right but then in the values of our community diversity there too. Why don't we just vote to Well, this is an amendment there. Our community values. Wow. So it's multiple things. Yeah. Yeah. So how about we just vote to um amend our mission state and values

vision and values. Mission brilliant. Yeah. Exactly. All right. So, I'll entertain a motion to amend or adopt the um recommended changes to our mission, vision, and values as recommended by the DEI committee. So, moved. Second. Second. All those in favor say I. I. I. I any opposed? No. Just me saying you do oppose. Yeah, you can oppose. Okay. No, I'm just making sure you're trying to leave. I've not gotten them in yet. So, do you want to discuss here? Here's my question on the leap. Do I need in the minutes? Should I state that it was you or does it matter? Do you want me to say that it was I just didn't know if I'm just Is there anything you want to discuss as a result? No. The motion's passed by majority. Moving on

to policy committee. Policy committee. I can go. Or is it is Malik there? I'm here. Hi Malik. Do you need an update? Um I'll go over this one for though. Um we not have an extensive cause committee uh update. We're meeting this coming week or next week, next week. Um, but the policy committee of course has been addressing development topics that we were discussing previously regarding this necessary changes. Um, and future issues are continual review policies. Uh we have the media constitution acceptable use uh policy to uh discuss that was that policy was table. You can write the discussions discussing that in the next meeting and um we are trying to complete the best practices for efficiently publishing policies. So, we were discussing um once the policy is changed, where do we place it? Can

we place it on the on the website um and place them? So, we're still discussing my process. Um just to make sure that it's informal, you know, all right. Thank you. Any questions for belief or the policy committee and Banny moving on to the foundation. So um the foundation has finished it officially finished its annual giving. um campaign. I want to thank all of the people that donated. Um I want to also thank um our foundation and the parent ambassadors who work hard in in getting every donation into the door. Um unfortunately, we work short of our goal. Um so as of um Friday um we received $361,000 in donations. We had $76,000 in pledges that were not fulfilled. So um those are donations from families or pledges from families um that just have not

gone um that have not materialized yet. Of course, even though the formal campaign has ended, that doesn't mean that people can't donate. It just means it rolls into next year. Um, and that's fine. You know, a dollar is a dollar. So, we would appreciate um anyone continuing to to donate. Um, we had about 47 families who were made up those pledges that that didn't donate yet. So that's still a fair number of people um who who committed to to donating just didn't get it through by the deadline. Um and that represents um all of the donations I think including those pledges equals 87 um% of our overall family participation which is a a very healthy number from um a community perspective. So the 87% includes the pledges that were not paid I believe. So um

so if I compare that to this time last year um you know the numbers I'm showing on the screen here for the board members um includes pledges um so we're behind um from last year including pledges u but we were up on to total overall family participation. So I think it's just a matter of folks donating a little less than than average. Um um and also we need a big outstanding punches amount um that's about triple from this time last year. So that was a big differentiator um over year over year. That's it for the recommendation. Okay. Thank you for that update. But as a reminder, funds will win donations will always be uh welcome. Thank you. Appreciate it. Don't forget to submit for your match, which is very interesting that not everybody realizes they

have match um access to matching. Yeah. And we do know there there are certain organizations with the community where the the donation from the family and the match come in through the employment. So um those this one company in particular the donations are delayed. So people have processed it through um through their employer but when they hit our account is really random and usually it'll hit twice at different times. So we might get the the family contribution first and then the match at another time. That is um Would you count those as received? No, we don't we don't it'll catch the cap with it when it comes in later. No. And usually like at the beginning of the year we'll get a report. Okay. Some of the the funds that were came late. Got it.

US make 15%. This year's almost every year. It's just a much higher percentage. We expect a higher dollar amount happening this year because this this delay is it seems more exaggerated than before. But yeah, that's usually what happens is in the beginning of the year we're like, "Oh yeah, so that that x amount that we um were starting off the year with this much already because of previous year." And to be quite honest, each program is different. Yeah. So with my organization for example, it a total dollar amount and you allocate how much you want to use. So some is for scholar, some is for other things, but it's less than my total, which happens sometimes just depending on what's going on that year. Whereas some it's based on your volunteer hours makes you earn

the the the money or it's a higher above or it's a percentage minus dollar. It just depends. So it's hard. My whole point is it's hard to book it until you get it. Got it. No, because there's still some control that the person or the family donating has impact the number we receive. We we are looking into potentially changing how we account for pledges as being part of our numbers throughout the year though. It's kind of like an administrative thing. We account for things from a strategy perspective. Um we have really high family participation. Um, and I'm not really sure where we stacked up against other organizations, but usually pretty good follow through. I think just this year the numbers are a lot higher in terms of pledges that didn't come in with a donation

amount or pledges to begin with um as opposed to outrank donations. So, this year just seems to be a bit of an could be market related. Okay. feel like the latest. It's funny you say that, but it's legit. I saw that incorporated somewhere that has zero dut, but they did have a little different. fell. Thank you so much for the humor over here and for the update from the foundation. All right, so educational excellence. Um so we are wrapping up all the main topics for educational excellence. Um the survey uh there was a final draft that was um published earlier I mean late last week. So that should be going out to the parents this week. Right. Okay. There were some updates in the survey related to SEAL to um academic rigor and there were

some new questions added on that as well for um you know obtaining feedback from from high high school parents and so forth. Um we also we had this meeting for the first time with Miss Delt. she was able to um participate in this meeting and I believe she's the one that's going to be going forward uh participating with us from the staff. Uh we discussed the computer science program which you saw uh in in Mr. Kpert's first report. It's already um been decided what that's what offering that's going to be. We also talked about social studies and science curriculum that has also been nailed down for next year. Um we have um we also talked about the foreign language and um the conclusion on the language lab which we talked about earlier that that's going

to be for now just focusing on the languages that we have until we have more information from parents from the school and then the uh media policy we are collaborating with the policy committee so um more to come on that but that's still in the works that's the only pending item we the um survey. I don't know if you saw I said a couple things before. No, no, wait. Sure. This week, we got a couple of comments in. So, we work to finalize that. I I admittedly accessed the the survey after the deadline that you gave and were able to access it. Is that Well, you should. No, I'm not. Oh, if you So, I tried too and then there was another email that came through. Did you get a second email? Yeah, the second

email. I couldn't let it if I clicked on the original link, it didn't work. I had to click on the next. Okay. An email that says form share. Yeah, because however it was shared initially did not work. Okay. I didn't then I redid it individuals individual emails that you should not. Okay. I got you. Honestly, I thought, well, I was late looking at so I got off and I lost you. It was 501. My gosh. And it won't work on your phone. Okay. Either. It doesn't work on the phone. It does. It works. It does. But one of my comments to Dominique was that regardless of if it's on your phone or your laptop, the it doesn't read it doesn't show up so that you can read the full sense. Oh, yeah. Like the actual

publish to publish it does work on your phone. What I meant is the edit version. Oh, okay. The edit version which we would see that one don't think it works on your phone unless you have like the It does. is just even harder to reach out and then not good shame. Okay. Thank you, Liliana. On to the last committee update. Alison. Yes. So, we are working on getting the fence quotes. we had two and we're trying to compare apples to apples and so um Alex is working Alex got an additional quote um and then is reming with another um with an original fence company in order to kind of make sure everybody is on the same page and then we can compare at that point. Um Chad, I did send you an email and I

think you know our um uh wires got crossed just a little bit, but just confirming the material with Alex if you can speak with him about um we do want some aluminum fencing, 6ft tall aluminum fencing in more of the frontage areas and then the um chain link in the areas that are not as visible like near the town homes. Um, so it didn't seem like I just want to make sure that we have that information um, uh, coordinated correctly. U, but either way, we're hoping to have three um, quotes. We do need to make the payment by June 13th. Um, and so I'm hoping in the next week we can pick a fence company. It's going to be more than we originally thought because of everything we've talked about tariffs and the uncertainty in

the market. Um, so the numbers are going to be higher than the I think our original quote um was in the 40. I would assume we're like in the 60 to 70 range now thousand. Um actually I would I'll say 50 to 60. Um but we would need to pay a deposit. Um the $25,000 deposit that we received through the grant needs to be paid by mid June. the work does not need to begin, but the the um uh $25,000 does need to be paid. I will note that on that number um uh the quote, it does include some nice to haves um which would include some fence or some gates. And so if we as a board decided that we didn't want to spend that much money from a foundation perspective, from the um

finance perspective, we could pull back on the gates for now and then and get the fencing, the majority of the fencing up and then do the fences later if we had to. Um but like with everything in construction, prices will just continue to go up. So, so what we're looking at is a full perimeter fence with gates. That's correct. So, right now we're looking at a a um gates for the lawnmowers down by kind of that the carpool entrance um and for egress safety egress and then a fence near like a person fence near where the buses let the kids out. And then a rolling fence gate near where the buses park. And then a like 30foot double like French door swing gate by where we exit car poolool so that during the school day

we could close things off for safety, you know, to prevent anyone from walking through the campus accidentally. Um to keep uh kids coraled during recess. Um, so that is the full plan. Would there be another person fence by the buses by the back door? Um, that so that would be I think that would exit. There wouldn't be a fence at the parking lot. It starts It starts at the It starts like you It's not full perimeter. Yeah. I mean close. Yeah. Yeah. the building. So the rock is where it would start here, but there is still um a perimeter around the building. So the parking just like when you make that right to come in like you're doing the car line. Mhm. There's a little grassy here. That would also Yes. Okay. Yeah. The idea

is that will allow like outdoor classrooms. um so that we can actually leverage that green space a little bit more. It'll incorporate um uh we've removed some bushes behind the playground equipment already on the front. The idea is that if the teachers want to allow the children to kind of go past that area and play that they can um and we can't do it before the rock because you need to leave access for the other building. That's your No, no, understood. Yeah. It would go across where that existing fence already is. Yeah, that's where the That's where the rolling Yeah. Where the rolling The idea is that it would never We're not going to be like completely locked down, but it would be a huge deterrent for anyone who's like accidentally walking through or like

trying to cut the corner. And just Allison, for transparency, and I'm going to put this in the minutes, you said the grant covers how much? and then the foundation would cover the remainder. Yeah, it's $25,000 um is what the grant is covering. And I don't have my notes with me and we could go back um I know I have it in um previous meeting minutes um in fast or in in these but we already have money in the budget for safety and so we were going to use um that and I think we had 88 total. So 88 - 25 um I believe that is already in the finance budget for last year um and was already kind of accounted for. We were going to use that towards spencing other things that have come up

since then and prices are just continuing. It's it's insane. Um a PA system is on that list. Um and then like the um it's on the agenda. I should read the agenda. um the um stops, safety stops and the safety shades. Those are much smaller numbers. Um right now it's like nailing jello to a wall to get these quotes in and compare them and you'll have, you know, one PA system covers everything. It's $100,000 and then one PA system is 20. So it's I'm struggling to get kind of all the ducks in a row. And so Alex is working on the fence quotes right now again to make sure that everybody is quoting the same thing. Yeah. Um you mentioned discussing gates like if the board wants to spend the money on gates which which

gates would be negotiable for with a person. I think the large gates, the the traffic gates. Yeah. You're talking about the the what you call the French door gates? Yep. Those those would be electric like motorized open and close. No, I don't think we want to. I think the moment we introduce motorization or electric, we're going to have to run wiring out there, which is going to add a cost and then that's something that's going to break. Oh, I'm all for it not being the French door one is manual and then the rolling one is manual on a wheel. So that Yeah, I think the rolling one was manual. I just wanted to confirm whether the French door was man. Okay, so all manual gates but potentially if we wanted to save money we would

not have rolling French door gates. Those would just be the roads would be open all the time and we would just have fence around everywhere except the red carized gaps. Car size. Yeah, it would it would help us corral the kids a little bit better, but it would, you know, limit the um the overall um inability to walk through. So, pros and cons. I know you I'm assuming you don't know the answer to this yet because you're still trying to nail jello to the wall, but we'll need to know the price with or without the gates so we can make that decision eventually, right? Yeah. Regardless, we want to what we're going to ask the board for tonight is to approve putting a $25,000 deposit on the fence project with whichever fence company we choose,

which we haven't chosen even the company yet, but we're just saying, hey, let's secure the deposit so we can use this grant money before it expires in June. And then at a future board meeting, we'll decide on the design, I guess, like or the cost of the ultimate project. Yeah. So, like right now, I do So, I will say I have a quote um I've got one quote for 35, I've got one quote for 45 to 50, I can't remember. And then I've got one quote for like 80. So, you know, it may not be as much as we thought. So, we do have three multiple like multiple quotes. And right now the numbers are so far off we're just trying to make sure that they're speaking the same language. Um so so yes there

that that would be the request was let's go ahead and make a like make a decision. I think we'll decide the company and and we can even decide I don't know if there's a limit that the board wants to say like up to 50k you're approved. Anything over 50k we have to come back for. I I don't know whatever. Malik, I will say I can barely hear you. Earlier you said that 25 was coming from the government and the balance got uh asked from the foundation. Is that what you said? Some in the budget already and some in the budget. Okay, never mind. Yeah, it may be covered completely by the foundation and budget or I'm sorry the um grant and the budget already. The only thing is we also have a PA system that's

been requested. The initial numbers for the PA system were 21,000 and the last quote that I got was like uh six figures. And so that's what's happening is you know the initial quotes for all these things we had no additional money ask and now numbers are going crazy and and scope of work. The original PA system quote was 21,000 because it was um perhaps PA quote light um and the latest quote was the like all the bells and whistles which um Miss Ellington you know was all for obviously it's a great system. it just comes up with a different number. So, I'm sorry that I'm sorry that this is not um clearcut. I wish it were. I think I have it all in the minutes. So, Allison, maybe when I send them out for review,

just make sure I got it right. Okay, I will. It doesn't ask for what your recommend is. I was going to say typically we're not making any decisions tonight on PA systems or fence project cost. We're just saying can we put a $25,000 deposit on a f with a fence company? Yeah. We'll come back later to the board when we have the final. Yes. Hey, we can spend this much with gates or this much without gates. What do we want to do? And then we decide how much we want to spend. Yeah. with the you're going to you and Mr. Carper I guess are going to choose which provider to use. Yeah, the fast committee Julian um Dominique obviously I would love multiple input. Yes, you guys meet before June 13th. Yes, we will make

it happen. Okay. But again they they so the actual it's even before in order for our internal partners to process the payment we need to invoice sooner than that which means we need to expedite though. So this is not news to her but just giving you guys all of the timeline. Yes 13th is the date but it needs to be cut but that doesn't mean we know the 13th that it gets cut date. So it's really we but what we want from here what we want to vote on is the authorization to pay the deposit. We don't want to put the grant at risk. We won't spend those funds. there is a valid expense for it and for a variety of reasons we're still kind of scoping people out but we can certainly proceed with

voting up to a certain amount and and maybe it's up to a certain amount for the project and as we look at some of the details we may need to revisit that I guess that's probably the question too what what is best to proceed with this um yeah so I think that's The probably the best way of phrasing it for the vote is we approve um a project with a fence uh of at least 25. No, I think you need to to up to 25. And that's the project. That's a deposit for a project. See that? Yeah, that's what we That's the thing. So, I'm going to I don't know if we can save up to a project amount because we don't have no idea being we just know we need to put a deposit

of $25,000 down. We vote to approve the release of this as we also and Chad I don't know if maybe you you forwarded something um but do we want to talk about the HVAC because that's another fast committee thing that is a bit hot no pun intended a hot topic Um there we did receive quotes. We have three systems on the um three large expensive systems and um one of them um one of them has gone out recently. We were able to fix it. Kind of a duct duct tape fix. Um but we know we need to to replace them. Um we can replace all three at the same time. Um, and we did get a quote from train for hold your jaws 5. Wait, wait, Allison. Yeah. Can we discuss them and closed? Malik

is asking if we can discuss the contract costs and close. Sure. Yep. Okay. So, we received a quote. Um, we need to talk about it because it has to happen. Okay. Yes, that is certainly one of the priorities um for maintenance, but you're right, it's a big expense, so we will have to have some discussion about them. Yep. Okay. So, what's the if we're ready to vote, what's the right wording here? Let me have it right here. Oh, hopefully. But it's it's in finance and we can wait. Okay. Yeah, it's actually in finance. Yeah. All right. Are there any other questions or updates, Alison? Oh god, no. That was enough. Okay. Thank you, Fast Committee. We will move on to the finance committee. All right. Um well we talked a lot about fence quotes in

the finance committee and we won't talk about that again. Uh so I think we've had our fill of defense discussion. Um we talked a lot about next year's budget which I will be which we discussed the preliminary version of that last month. Um we had a working session with some finance committee members after that board meeting before the finance committee meeting. So we've met the finance committees effectively met twice since the last board meeting on this budget. So I feel pretty good at where we landed. Um and I'll I'll present in a few minutes and show you guys the high level. We won't go through it in detail like we did last time unless you guys have questions. I can drill into anything you want, but um we'll kind of hit the high level with

you guys and take you to the bottom line. Um and what else did we talk about? Finance. No, that was really it. It was all fence and budget. Um so, oh, let's see. Sure. I stream. You make it so I can present. Not sure. It's very big. Yeah. Do you want me to zoom in or you going to zoom in? I'm gonna see if I can hide my ribbon. All that much. I can zoom in too. All right. So, um I'll go fast so you guys slow me down if you want to know more. Scroll over to the right. So, in the revenue section, uh state funding we have growing at 1.8%. That's due to some preliminary guidance from the state that that's what it will grow at. That is much lower than it's been

the past five years that I've been doing this. It's always been around 3%. Uh sometimes a little more. The 1.8 is a bit disappointing if that's what it turns out to be. Um and then we have a something called the - grant which we comes from the state to pay for networking in this building and cabling. Uh we get it every year some amount. Next year we're um going to get $13,000 more of that. So that's what you see flowing through the state line here and that I don't know. Good question. I think it's very specific to like networking. Yeah, my understanding as well that we can. So the technology the tech technology service provider that we use helps write this grant. So I think Miss Ellington could ask um them if those funds could

be useful. Yeah, they should be able to tell us. Good question. So the - some of the responses, can we request a lot more than a $13,000 increase? in my opinion. Yeah. So, for the state revenue, typically when you give us the numbers, we base it on a 2% growth, right? Uh sometimes we've done 2%, sometimes we've done 3%. Okay. But yeah, but now we're just we're doing it on 1.8, right? Okay. That's disappointing. So, hopefully it surprises to the upside. The the indication we get now is not set in stone. We won't know until the fall, sometimes even December. No, I think it's a good idea to be conservative. Um, okay. Local revenue looks like it's down a lot and that's uh there's a bunch of moving parts there. Uh, we the foundation is

reducing the annual giving CA campaign request by $30,000. So, it's going from $455 to$425 next year. So, that is a true what I would call reduction of revenue. But we make we're making some big changes on reporting between the school and the foundation. Uh this year we're in previous years we've we've budgeted for all of the annual giving campaign funds on the school's budget. Um we've been working for years to get donors to donate to the foundation and not to the school. And the past two year, you know, this year the school collected about $100,000, a little bit more of the annual giving campaign funds than the other whatever the numbers show the other 270 that's has gone to the foundation. So, of the 425 that's in the budget, we're going to keep a 100

on the school's revenue and we're moving 325,000 to the foundation's budget. in the overall it's really just like a right-hand thing. We're still going to you hopefully get the annual gaining campaign funds, but it's just not going to be recognized on the school's budget, not all of it. Um only the portion that we think the school will actually collect. So that you see $428,000 decrease in local revenue. Well, $325 of that is just moved over to the foundation. Uh 30 of that is a true decrease in the annual giving campaign fund. And then um another revenue item we had was a contribution from the foundation to the school to cover operating expense of the foundation mainly the two foundation employees. Uh next year we're not going to recognize that expense on the school's budget or

this revenue because we're going to recogni we're going to reflect that on the foundation's budget. The next year, the foundation will truly reflect the revenue it expects to receive and the expenses it expects to pay. The past three years, we've had it fully relying on the school's budget and the foundation's budget has been minimalist. You know, just its operating expenses and supplies and whatnot. So, it's kind of a big change from a reporting perspective. Doesn't really change the big picture. It's just where it's reflected geography. And then the Confucious grant uh we've had on our budget for years at $18,000. It can only be used for the Chinese program. We spent it all out this year. It's budget neutral because there's an expense for that $18,000, but that's coming out of that local revenue because

it also makes it look $18,000 lower than it was. Um, so to be clear, local revenue includes all of these things as agency, confusing source and counties and counties, which I didn't highlight here. I was only really speaking to the decrease, but counties we're assuming we have no indication as to what their funding will be. So, we're keeping that at 3% annual growth. Could be less, could be more. It's only about this is the top row instead of a 3% growth is only $32,000. So if you changed it to 2% it would change it very much. All right. And then in federal funds, all that is really held flat except for some ESSER grants which no longer available. We've spent it all out. So that's $10,000 that's in the current year budget, not in next

year's budget. All right, moving down to expenses. um you know salaries and wages is done at the person level went through the slate through the master schedule all that got nailed down by the administration this week um all that's all those changes are reflected in this line um big differences foundation employee expenses as I mentioned are moved to the foundation budget and this next year's budget does not include a placeholder for year and bonuses whereas the current year budget does have it in there. So that's a big reason the decline that you see otherwise it would be none. Why did we move up to your influences? Is that just part of the We've never budgeted for it at the beginning of the year. We always add it on later in the year, right? Once we

are we have more uh line of sight into what our annual giving campaign funds are that year and that we have the budget capacity to pay the benefits. But why is that different? It's I think we revised the budget. Yeah. Because we've amended or the current year budget, but this what I'm showing is not the beginning of the year budget. It's the where it is now, which has already been amended to include that. Gotcha. Thank you. Yeah. So the current year budget is kind of like what we know towards the end of the year. Yeah. I guess actuals that's what I had in my head. Thank you. But is there like a re like I understand the logic like why we wouldn't why we because we want to be more accurate about the amount and

I I know we try to be extremely accurate about going personel by personnel and all that but is there any like risk by calculating that and kind of putting it in so we have more of a full picture even if we're off 10%. So, I mean, the school didn't always pay year- ends. Uh, as we started having larger budget surpluses, we managed we managed expenses very tight and since co we've had a lot of grant funding come in that led to bigger surpluses. So, we've been fortunate enough to pay this bonus consistently for five years now. Um, you could talk yourself into it, but there's risk that, you know, if you put it in there and then your budget is upside down, then you say, "Okay, we're going to start cutting programming for kids or

or whatever you're going to cut to make your budget um balanced." But on the other hand, we are kind of also promising our teachers sort of that, right? We what don't we say we are going to be No no no we don't we put a contract they get paid the contract and the contract does not say that we match CMS no okay the contract says your salary is X dollars and they get X dollars and then at the end of the year we hope to have enough budget surplus to say thank you so much here's an extra not including your contract above and beyond that I'm of course I want the school to always be able to pay it, but um that's the risk budget, not a contractual payment. Um all right, health insurance costs

up a ton. Um nothing we can do about that. Um, books and supplies is a theater elective program that we're going to offer next year. Budget neutral because the foundation is going to pay for that. Um, and accounting services up a little bit more this year. We all know that clearance contracts are also up. Uh, this has already been approved by the board. This is not new. um facilities, building services. So, we just increased it because we've had a higher expense coming in this year from BC repairs mostly. So, we put some more in there. Um but that obviously would change if we were to replace all the units and we actually might spend less on repairs, I would think. But, uh more overall. Yes. I just mean on this long uh utilities actually coming

in lower like we probably won't even use this full 99 that's in our budget this year. Don't know why utility costs are down but they are um [Laughter] AC that usually makes the price go. fine as transportation. We just put in some extra repair costs relative to this year just as we pointed out in the prelim meeting um of those that are getting older. So, we should anticipate more expenses there. Um technology, there's some increase in instructional software that we know is coming down the pike. And then the rate networking grant I talked about in the revenue section, that 13,000 in expense also hits down here. That's budget neutral though. Um, and then this one, capitalize equipment and purchases. So, we had 110,000 in the budget this year. This was really like the safety part

of this is the fence uh that we were talking about, but it was like the fast committee request at the beginning of the year. You guys remember we keep this 110 in the budget this year out on all this stuff. Um like the security upgrades around the school. We just kept that 110 as a placeholder for next year. The the foundation paid that 110 this year. We assumed the foundation would kick in that 110 next year or whatever capitalized expenses come down the pike, which potentially could be AC units. Obviously 100 is not sufficient pay for AC units now that we just got quotes that are higher than that we'll talk about in closed but um it's budget neutral anyways it's foundation's going to pay for it so it doesn't really matter what that number

is it doesn't affect the bottom line for the school that's what is coming foundation that makes stuff uh so bottom line it's really messy um so this is our surplus plus you know revenue minus expenses but we have 2 and a half million of the fund balance embedded in there. So you back that out you get to our surplus of 141,000 100,000 of that is coming from it is what we have in the budget this year for the annual giving campaign. So if you back that out, this kind of gives me a clean view of true revenue minus expenses. Assuming no support from the annual giving campaign, just like just our true operating income, operating expense, we have a surplus $42,000. There was something else. I think I know the answer. Can you scroll up

a bit? there. Was that because there's no travel? Yeah, it's because it's going to be local next year. So, we're expecting less travel expense at the conferences. Um, you probably want to compare to last year for this. You know, we had a bigger surplus, but we also had 455 in the budget for annual giving campaign. Yeah. So, you have to back that out. But then you add the the hundred that school actually did receive directly, we're looking at like a $78,000 surplus currently for our current budget. And this is just for reference. When we set the budget in May of 2024 for this school year, our surplus excluding annual giving campaign was 16,000. In case you're looking at this 42, we kind of freaking out better than it was. it it always we always start

off at least in my five years of doing it start off with a very conservative number and we've just been fortunate it it gets better from there. So same an accountant but what do you do with the surplus? Like where does that go in your budgeting? It just kind of like So what happens I'll I'll just talk through the process. The board approved this budget. We file this budget with the state. Um the department of um everyone has to file their budget with the state and then it just goes there and then this is like our reference point um until we amend the budget at some point in the fall when we get more information. But maybe you're asking at the end of the school year if you have some surplus amount what happens to

it? It gets added to your fund balance. So this 2.5 million grows by whatever your surplus amount is at the end of the year. Exactly. That's how it's accounted for. It rolls over, right? Get to the fun. Yeah. I'm reminded how do we access the fun? So technically up to us. It's not governed by anyone else. Speaking of when we used to have a mortgage and there was there were compliance requirements around maintaining a certain amount of capital and liquidity or a debt service coverage. We no longer have a mortgage. So we don't have any covenants or constraints. So technically we could say we need new AC units. I want to use the fund balance. Now why I was asking we could do that. Now, you don't well, you don't want to use the fund

balance for operating expenses. Like, oh, we need to hire 10 new teachers. Let's just use the fund balance every year until we run out. That's not a good idea. Schools go out of business. It's meant to be sort of like an emergency reserve. Yeah. One timeing we have energies. So, this is autism. Thank you all. Yeah. And that that's a discussion to be had is do you want to use foundation funds or do you want to use school funds school funds have restrict more restrictions? I mean I use that job but like the school can only use the funds exactly for the school. The foundation technically can use the funds for more than that if it wanted to. It can use funds to support gifted education in the community. It doesn't have to be directly

for academy. Thank you for that. We've done that but conference for example. Yeah. Yeah. Actually, you're right. We do should know that. Well, we're not the only beneficiary of that what what the money spent on. Do you snapshot of the foundation budget? Will you be I mean I know you will be treasuring next year. Will that be shared with us? I would think it would be so the same person for both organizations have access to the we can always pass for it. But that's not something we plan to show. What do you mean by when we're looking at the budget like how do we get a full picture without knowing that foundation? And maybe maybe we shouldn't be looking at the foundation. I don't know. But he we do her is what I'm trying to

say that like he's over. Yeah. But but he does know like as he's making revenue and divisions he knows what's in both pockets and then he also sits there so that if the decision has to be made one over the other gradually and you know it was representatives on both sides plus the three members on the cho and we you know they would have their recommendations and and be able to tell us There should be four people minimum with the information that you're asking for. The rest of us who are not on the bus is to get that information. Yeah, I don't disagree with everything lesson. I don't think there's anything that could prevent you from seeing it public information like we could show it. Yeah. I just wanted to make sure cuz you're I

think you're asking like should it be a best practice to bring the and let the board see you have a complete picture at least some fun balance I think I would think that includes the foundation but again I know I know it doesn't but like new people watching you've been sitting here for years right exactly and also we have like you said we have the CDs so like maybe just kind of snapshot thing the CD that's just how the 2.4 is invested. Oh, got it. Okay. It's not incremental. Um, yeah. Show you guys a snapshot of all that. Don't have to screen right now. But I think it's just for understanding how finances work. perspective not so much like in our last um foundation meeting we did get the budget for the foundation as well

and it's not uh very um it it doesn't have as many line items as it's like very simple because my my questioning of it is not so much foresight it's more of an understanding of how language it works very confusing um at least for So to understand that maybe on that job yeah um the foundation is actually meeting next time to talk about next year's budget for the foundation. We feel like it's best to do the school's budget first then the foundation budget. Um make sure that I close a little bit and then we can bring back. I also think it's good for transparency to the community, right? I mean, you said it's available, it's publicly available, but like maybe by presenting it, we're being more transparent um and like making it easier for people

to see, especially since people are donating their money and it's going to the annual giving campaign. Like where is that going? Like let's say what it is and how it all impacts the school. So good point. Any more questions on um next year's budget? So you have two items over I do a Oh. Oh. table. It's fancy when it actually works. It's just one thing. One amendment. Correct. One amendment. Rene. Yeah. I should have put that at. We did. We didn't talk to any finance committee about that. We did. So, we'll just add it to Okay. So, okay. So, then let me amend it then. All right. I'll entertain a motion to amend the agenda to include a vote to renew board action. So moved. Oh, I was also. All those in favor say I.

I. I. Thank you. Any opposed? All right. The motion has passed and I'm amending the agenda as we speak. You capture that. Let me show. Where are you at? Yeah. So, we can do it all together. Oh, but he put them all together. Is that okay for you? One infection. Okay. All right. So, we're going to do the um this thing first. 106. Do you want to initiate? Um, I'll entertain a motion just so that we get the wording correctly, Adam. Thanks. I have it here. At least that's what Malik said. like to motion to [Music] bring a deposit down on the fence project of $25,000. Keep it that simple. We don't have to talk about a grant though. Wasn't your recommendation include grant in the language? His recommendation was to say the release of

grant funds for the purposes as defined by class. We're checking grant fund that the grant will will use. Yeah, we're not we're using our own money and then we're getting reimbursement in the grant. Right. But we need to spend it in So I say we're just asking the board to approve spending $25,000 to deposit to for the fence project. The reason being in so we can spend the grant money the grant money spent by them. I'm sure we use the city is wondering approve putting a deposit down on the fence project of $25,000. Is that what you tell you won't talk about the grant? Okay. So, I will entertain a motion to approve a deposit down on the fence project of 25,000. So moved. Second. All those in favor say I. I I opposed. The

motion passed. I will entertain a motion to vote to approve the board on track renewal up to $6,695. Salute. All those in favor say I. I. Any opposed? The motion has passed. Tell me that again. Sorry. 6695 up to Yeah. Ready for the next one? All right. I'll entertain a motion to approve the 2025 to 2026 budget as presented by the finance committee. Second. All those in favor say I. I I any opposed. The motion has passed. This is the second opportunity for community comments subject to the guidelines shared earlier. At this time, you may indicate your desire to make community comments. Please let me know if anyone has raised their hand. No one pass. Thank you, Ed. I will now entertain a motion to go into close session to discuss employment contracts, student matters,

and personnel matters. All those in favor say I. I any opposed or the motion has passed and we will be entering a close session. Thank you everyone. We will return once that session is journeyed. Both on the phone said I. Um all those any opposed? Nay. Nay. All right. Please forward three nazs. All right. The motion has passed. with unanimous vote. No, that not what you're unanous. I'm sorry. Majority is what I meant to say. Wrong word. Thank you for correcting me.
