We have a short agenda. Are you good to hang for a few? >> You're live. >> Thanks, Dale. It's too early, though. >> Oh, we're already live. >> We're already live. >> Yeah. >> But then Steve left. So, now we'll just have a little bit of lingering conversation for a few moments. How's that hand do that? >> Do you get the panda do emails? >> Oh, I probably >> the ones you haven't signed to sign. >> She's not signing. You're not signing. >> I sign sometimes. >> That's the first time I've used. That's for Gail. We need you to sign that. >> I don't have a pen. >> I only use Panda. >> Thanks, Erica. Yes. Listen, for those of us that like to download the docs after they're signed all five sing, >> you

know, you got one more meeting in the past. >> Yeah, I've never >> Hello. NLP, >> are you okay with the notes from Friday night? >> Yes. Thank you. You're >> welcome. Yeah, I put them on >> flash. >> So you can reassure people that the DOE is no longer pulling any of my information or sending me >> this email. just barely at the next meeting. >> Sweet. Be nice and quick. Let's do it. >> All right. It's 5:00. We're going to call this meeting of the Littleton School Board to order. We'll begin with the pledge of allegiance. Pledge to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. And before we begin, we should acknowledge that

barring the results of a surging rightin campaign. We do anticipate this is the last board meeting for now for our esteemed colleague, Miss Erica Antinucci. So behalf of the board, we thank you for your six years of leadership and service. And on a personal note, I will miss your sparkling personality dearly. >> Oh, that's so contributed quite a bit to the working of the board over her two terms. Uh most notably with her leadership of the Lakeway committee, which I thought was uh spectacular and extremely challenging and difficult, which she handled with professionalism and grace. So, uh, we look forward to your return to the board after a year off. And we'll remind you that the board conducts its business, uh, in in public and you're free to join every Monday, every other Monday, every

Monday really, if you want. And of course, she also served as vice chair for a couple cycles and did a wonderful job. So, Erica, thank you. >> And, uh, come back as soon as you'd like. >> Okay. Great. >> We'll move on. Uh we'll move on to the consents agenda. We'll look for a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes minutes from board meetings on the 16th and 27th of February. >> Make a motion. >> Second. Any discussion? All those in favor? >> I oppose. Abstain. Motion carries. 40. Move on to the business report. The only thing that I need from you guys is approval of the um LSSA health insurance MOA and the LTA health insurance MOA and I'll need to get your signature before I leave China. >> Okay. So, let's talk

about the board approves. >> Yeah. Yeah. Let's talk about those now then. So, these >> are MOAs as a result of the previously approved change uh to a different health insurance plan. >> Correct. which we discussed at slash before the deliberative budget hearing. One of those deliberative >> Yes, it was before. >> It was before. Yes. >> And so do you want to just review? Is there anything in particular you want to call the board's attention to with those MOAUS? MOAS they're making those but call >> I mean we would be changing from Sigma to Anthem. Um there is a significant savings to the district. >> Sorry, but by what I mean is there anything in the in theou? >> No, >> that's different than what we reviewed. >> No, absolutely not. It just highlights

and remember um the memorandum of agreement is just an amendment to the three-year negotiated agreement that the taxpayers voted on. um they have will if they have two more years, support staff have one more year and these are just the highlighted changes within that agreement pertaining to only health insurance benefits. >> So the the details are are as they were frozen in time when we reviewed them a month ago. >> Correct. Nothing are just sort of >> we had to wait for this to go through legal codifying. Okay. Okay. So, it's already gone through legal review. >> Yep, it has. >> And the plans were reviewed before the board voted the first time with the unions. >> Correct. >> So, you've already voted on the change. This is just voting um to accept the MOAS.

>> Okay. So, does anybody have questions for Patty or Steve on the two MOAS in front of us? I feel that we should take the whole piece completely out. That's uh it was sorry. >> Yeah. >> Out of pocket. >> Not not out of pocket. I'm sorry. The uh was it the buyouts? What do we call it? >> Oh, where if you decide not to be on the insurance out for >> Yeah. I think that isn't that in the Isn't that >> it's in the bargaining agreement already? >> We don't have to double it though. >> So, let's keep it as is. >> We don't have to That's crazy to be doubling that amount. I mean, it's a good plan and it's uh it's good cost savings for them as well. So, why should the

town have to eat more money? I think the logic, right, is we're trying to incentivize more of them to opt out because it's considerable cost. >> You know, they're not going to people are going to look at they have if they have the choice, they're going to look at they're going to look at what the benefits are and what works with their lifestyle. So, >> but there are >> there are families where the buyout would pay for them to take the spouse's plan where as now they take the plan here because of the cost here. But if they got a larger buyout, most districts do a level depending on what you qualify for. Littleton just does 2,000 regardless of what you qualify for. And there are folks that have already come and talked to us

about it. So, I do anticipate two at least two that will drop our health insurance to take the buyout and those two plans alone will cover this increase. >> So, no, because it's $100,000 a year is what you have to >> Well, we're already paying 50. So >> yeah, >> you know, >> and what we pay for a family plan >> Yeah. >> is a lot of money. >> Yeah, it is. I know because I pay 25% of my plan, you know, and my company pays the other 75%. You know, opt out in my world went away a long time ago. Anyways, buyouts um for that. I think it's a lousy incentive that's just costing the town's people a tremendous amount of money. $100,000 in 10 years, that's a million. That for what? >> For

families that would probably take the insurance bill, that would cost a lot more than a h 100,000 a year. >> But you're also saying like Bill's saying it's it's doubled. But if they decide not to take the incentive >> and they take the insurance. >> Yeah. But they don't expensive. >> But he's saying it's not guaranteed. It's cost. It's it's a gamble of cost avoidance. So if you're right and a bunch more people opt out, then yeah, it mathematically makes sense. If if the opt out numbers don't change at all, it's an additional 50,000 to taxpayers. >> Correct. >> And with no with no cost avoidance or cost savings. So the real gamble is does the additional buyout motivate, inspire, encourage, cajol a a a sufficient number of people who are not currently doing the

buyout to elect to do the buyout in which case it does become cost savings. >> Correct. >> But if that doesn't happen, then it doesn't materialize basically the point. >> And it has been something we've talked about during negotiations at least the last two times I've done it here. Well, plus because comes up during support staff and the teachers negotiation. Um, but when we push back as a board, it's been dropped because we don't want to touch healthcare, right? Like that's the first thing during negotiations. We don't want to touch healthcare. Um, but we felt because the district was going to be saving a significant amount of money by making this change more than the employee that this would be a good time to put this incentive into place because we'd have the savings in

the budget for year one plus and because there is interest in folks that would be willing to change. But isn't it is it the case that obviously people can make whatever motions they want, go vote however they want, but isn't it the case to say so thisou term goes to the end of uh academic year ending June 30 28. >> Correct. Correct. >> So if the board were to approve this as presented obviously we would know if the opt increased or not over the course of those two academic years and we could always adjust up down sideways you know whatever in the next negotiating period. Yeah, obviously every three years, right, is our opportunity to renegotiate. >> Okay. >> So, if we have personnel changes and the new person and somebody that has opt out

leaves and somebody comes in the filler and they don't opt out, >> we're have that risk regardless, right? Regardless of >> Exactly. So, that's why to me it's a it's it's an incentive that um you can't anticipate what's going to happen going forward. Um, and I just, you know, if it's in the if it's in the agreement, then that's fine, but I say leave it as it is and not double it. Yeah, it's great that we're gonna have a chunk of money. That's a chunk of money for one year. And that's to me not wise spending, especially with what we saw during the deliberative session. And it's it'll it'll come back again next year, guaranteed. So either we start showing a little bit more due diligence in how we handle the town's money >> or

we're going to potentially see the graph. >> So I just Patty if I may. >> Yeah. I would just caution against the framing of due diligence. I I agree with everything you said up to that point because again I think for those of us that are going to vote for this as written, we're voting for it as written because we are hoping and believe with good reason that it will result in less expense for the town. Right. So it wouldn't be just because we want to spend more money for fun. It would specifically be because we're hoping to spend less money because of it. Right. So it's not I don't I don't think it's you're right that it might not work out that way. >> Yeah. >> Right. But I just think the motivations of

the board if they're the board members that are going to vote in favor of it is going to be because we're hoping that it saves money, not because we want to spend time. >> I think this is one of the things the budget committee always encourages us to try to do. >> I mean, we, you know, there's already money there that we've been paying and that's working. So, I don't see doubling it. Well, I can tell you one place that hasn't worked is we have actually lost candidates. >> Yeah. >> By not having a larger buyout where surrounding districts have. And >> that's good. Then we don't need them. >> So our it's it's it's a benefit. Like truly it's a benefit, right? So if they choose not to cost the district 40, you know,

something thousand in health insurance over a $2,000 buyout. I mean, I >> I don't want people I don't want people coming here >> because all they see is the paycheck. I want people that are coming here that are dedicated to the children, but I also want them to be compensated. Well, so if we lose a candidate because of $2,000 buyout, it's good riddance. I don't want them here. >> Seriously. But it could be $2,500 >> increase over what somebody else is offering them. Like >> yeah, >> and and what do they pay? You know, what percentage of health? Health is a big deal when you're negotiating hiring. It really is. They're looking at what they're paying, >> you know, for co-ay. They're the opportunity to have a buyout and say, "Well, you qualify for a

family. I can offer you $4,500 for not taking that family. Well, that's $45 direct increase to that family income. >> So, a >> that shouldn't that should not be part of their income. Okay, that that that goes then dollars and cents and how they live. If they're living within their means, that's not going to matter. When you start, >> but it matters. When your income is based on stuff that's outside of your salary, >> then you got a you got a budget area problem anyways. >> No, but that's called just being a wise family budget, having a budget. >> If they can get their their health insurance through the other spouse and get a increased buyout from here, >> what I I don't I've I've lived through both. >> So, I've seen it, you know.

and and when you've got two plans that are dollar, you know, apples to apples, but they're usually not. So, and then it goes back to what is it that they can afford? What is it that they want? So, I'm just saying leave it at 2,000. That's what's agreed upon and keep it at that. So I think the the options on the table I can't do either would be for somebody to motion to approve with an amendment or somebody with a motion to approve as is and then I think we can discuss further and take votes but I think that's kind of where we are personally I'm I'm going to vote for it as is because I think it's kind of risk to take that could potentially lead to significant cost avoidance for the taxpayers but

I can't make a motion So, somebody that can should make one. >> I think that's your favorite part of being chair. >> Remember all the motions I used to make when I wasn't chair? I was mov on all of them. >> I'll make the motion. I'll make the motion as presented. >> Motion to approve as presented. >> Yes. >> I'll second that. >> All right. Motion's been made and seconded. Any further discussion? >> All those in favor? >> I opposed. >> I abstain. Motion carries. 310 Patty speaking only for myself. I think you do great work on this. Thank you. All right, we're going to move on. Oh, that's for which one, Travis. >> For both. I think I heard him say both. >> I would do for both. Yes, >> do the both. >>

Yes, Google. >> That's how the motion's written in the >> on the form. >> Sorry about that. Um, all right. So, we are going to move to new business se item C. Daisy Bronson Middle School signage. >> That's what it says. >> Yes. Yes. >> Yeah. I think it had two samples. >> I did a little research. Do you want to notify the inter? >> No, no, please. >> Oh, um I think it's supposed to be Littleton High School first and then it underneath. >> That would cost more. So, we have to move to Littleton High School presented. >> Let's firebox meeting. >> Is it because there's no room underneath it? Is that why is it >> Pro probably said we'd have to use >> you'd have to move the little >> I just want

to throw that in. There was one other um picture that we looked at and it had Daisy Bronson Middle School on the archway itself. >> So it was Yeah. So it was underneath >> Littleton High School. That would be the one thing that we could go back and look at. >> I mean I don't think it really matters. I was just >> I don't love having it above. It is weird. So, I don't know that we need it at all for four 4,149 for 9 in letters or 3,837 for 7 inch letters. I don't think there's anybody confused about where the school is. >> Well, did it come up for like homeland security or safety a safety meeting or something you guys talked about last time? Well, it did. But here's what here's what the

unne the signage was over still over on the on the >> on said you can't which yeah makes sense. >> You don't want that there. That's not that's not where it is anymore. It's over here. Now this is a request from the family and that's where it came from. It came from a family member uh wanting wondering where the Daisy Bronson signage why it wasn't on the on the building. And that's that's the the origin of it. So I don't know. Yeah. I I think that uh you know all the vermage is always it's always Daisy Bronson middle school a little in high school. >> That's true. That's true. That's true. >> If I mean if you're thinking about somehow Daisy Bronson Middle School being more above or whatever that's still how it's >> That's

true. I saw I looked at both like one >> well because it mentioned something about like how is you know the high school is the more you know >> last to go before you graduate kind of thing. >> Yeah. >> I guess that makes sense too. >> I can see how someone could say that. Sure. >> So well can we start with this question? Do we have enough votes to approve any of the options or does is Travis is saying he doesn't want to do this at all. Do we have three people that want to do it? I mean, I mean, I'm in favor of doing it. I just I'm in favor of doing I like the square letters if we're doing it versus the arch letters personally. >> Oh, really? >> I think it

stands out more where when it's square like that stands out. Whereas they're both arched. They both it like almost like >> blends in together like it doesn't really stand out separation. Steve, Melissa, Michelle, have you guys seen this and socialized it at all as representatives of this structure? >> I I had a chance to see them. I um had asked Dale if it was okay if I went to the last facilities meeting. >> Yeah. >> Um that wasn't the reason, but I did take a look at them. And my gut instinct was because of the brick. Um maybe stay away from black and stay away from maroon. So, I was thinking the silver. Um, in looking at it, I think you could do either of the ones that I think were um, connected to the

agenda for tonight. Those seem to me to be the strongest visually. Do you have an artistic sensibility about which >> um well per the question you know how when when I think of the school or if I'm telling anyone the school's name I usually say Daisy Watson Middle School >> right right >> so by putting both names up there I almost kind of felt that maybe there should be an and which is more money you may not want to do that um because there was already an arch. I kind of felt like actually arching the Daisy Bronson Middle School might actually be okay visually. Either one. >> Have you seen these, Crystal? >> Yeah. I'm looking over. >> You want Okay. Do you want to >> Michelle? Do you have thoughts? >> Sort of. But

I wonder >> you always thoughtle >> Why does it have to go the entrance of the building? So when you look at this building, Littleton High School, that's the entrance there. But Daisy Bronson is a crop over. So why not put it on the fourth floor at the top along that wall on Maple Street side that says Daisy Bronson Middle School. That's where the school is way over there. I just wondered if that was an option because then you have Hij and that's on the other end on the on the high street side, right? So, I'm just curious why it needed to go entrance. Is that where you enter? Is that where people enter? >> But it's just an option. >> What entrance on Maple Street side? Do they go >> just be labeled as

that's where the school is. >> So, that's assuming that never switches to something else, too. I probably wouldn't probably >> but you never know. >> But yeah. >> And what's out front of the pillars level high school? No, nothing actually. >> Oh, >> nothing out there. >> I just wondered if it had to go right on top of high school or maybe we would look at using one of the other streets as >> who is in contact with with Oh, I guess it's art, huh? >> Art. >> Who's in contact with Art getting these quotes and designs? >> Dale. Do we want to ask Dale to price out uh amperand? And >> if you guys all agree on one of these, I'm not going to be a no vote for $4,000. >> You think Greg's

going to have an opinion on this? >> Everything. >> Yeah, he was at the meeting, right? >> Oh, right. He was at the >> Yeah. But do we do we defer for a couple of weeks and ask for a couple of more options and maybe ask for more input from >> staff here? >> Yeah, >> it's not urgent. >> Yeah. Again, you go to Google Maps, there's no doubt to replace it. >> It's not urgent, >> right? >> All right. So, we would like maybe to see a couple of more options and >> Okay. Maybe Steve, if you can facilitate uh getting more feedback from staff in the building too, I think that would be helpful. >> Speaking of I nearly forgot, Steve and Sheena, I think we need to move the organizational meeting for

the new board because >> Greg and I will both be out of state in two weeks, which is fine because I'm not going to be chairman anyway, but you probably want to have more than three votes. So, >> what do you got? With you not being here, >> I would have you have to accept it. I will not be accepted. >> So, I do think it makes sense to move it. >> Yeah, I think you should move it to when everybody's here. >> So, asking uh Erica, you're free to join, but does having it the 23rd work for everybody instead of the 16th? And that's this month. >> That's this month. >> Tough for I probably already have 15 patients scheduled from 5 to 6 that day because up until 6 I'm down a doctor.

It's okay. I'm on patients right now. Is it >> Monday? >> Nope. Tuesday work cuz I'm in town 24th. >> Okay. Here. >> Fine by me. So, what do we do? Tuesday the 24th or Tuesday the 17th? >> Tuesday the 24th. Greg and I are both >> and the 17th. >> That could be a fun meeting though. >> Yeah. >> So, Greg and I will both be in Florida. If you guys want to come down, we can just meet there. >> Are you traveling together? >> Everybody bring something green. >> 24 is okay with me. >> All right. Can we pencil in Tuesday the 24th at 5? >> And then we'll uh we'll see if that works. We'll have a couple of either new or returning board members to consult with. >> Make sure they're

all available. Be a good meeting to have five people for >> Yeah, I think you're right. >> Smart thinking. That's why you're the chair. >> Are we going to be all done basketball soon? >> Yeah, basketball's done this week. >> Yeah, final week. >> It's either tonight. It's either tonight or >> Okay. All right, so back to regularly scheduled programming. We have uh a new business D. Stephen and Bill and I were talking about this a little bit. We have an updated quote uh for the Lakeway uh floor reinforcing study from Bo King. I don't know, Bill, if you were going to walk through that or Steve, if you were doing it on Dale's back. Um I wasn't aware of it until I saw it come up on it. So I'm seeing here 30,250 with

>> and later on a 39. >> Yeah, I thought we already talked about >> we did this is an increase in the price is what I understand. >> Yeah, but I don't know why. Okay. Yeah, it is the bid negotiation phase went by >> increased. >> Yeah. get you. I didn't wouldn't even think of the jail being here. >> We should call the table this time. >> Oh, so it must have been that it was 30 originally and now it's jumped up. >> Yeah, that's better. Okay. >> So, the increase is the 8,500 that's marked as amended. >> There's 5,500 in for vibration analysis, which >> I don't know where that's coming from. So I say let's table this until the facilities committee can meet >> so that we can discuss these things because this

is >> nothing we've talked about makes sense. We know nothing about >> everybody good with that. >> Yeah. >> We're rolling tonight. >> That's not true. That's not true. >> Unfinished business. Uh residency program. Anything to talk about there? >> Nothing new. >> All right. >> Other than we're just in contact with Plymouth but nothing new. >> Committee negotiations. No. Facilities obviously hasn't met yet. Policy. We got to finalize the calendar. Yes. >> Yep. I cleaned this one up, took some stuff out, but there's things in there that uh we just don't I don't think we want in policy >> policy. So, it's it's um it's as it was presented before. I'll I'll mention any changes. Um go down to Section D, school calendar. School calendar will be developed by the superintendent with consultation among

the leadership team, union leadership. That's what we've done. The board's always asked us to do region 3 CTE schools and submitted to the board by January 10th. Uh board shall approve the final calendar by February 1st. That's a little that's that's a little bit later than I think we have done maybe, but I think it seems like gets harder and harder and I think there's going to be some things with region three and other things that probably going to I mean you can always you know go later if you have to. Um and there is there is a you and one of the main reasons of this policy change there is there is a statute requiring us to align our our calendars with a career effect. Um I see holidays um nothing there on high

school graduation set no more than 5 days or 30 instructional hours before the end of the school year. Technically, this year's calendar, I will point out, is out of compliance with that little statement, but uh although we're going to be a little bit different anyway because of snow days probably. >> Stop calling. >> I know. I know. >> So, we're gonna we're gonna have to obviously and this not Tren and I we will have to talk in the near future about some of that where we are with ours for students and so on. I'm trying to think really really nothing else. The only thing only thing I did I did I did change let me go back real quick. Um back to to point A school student school year be a minimum 180 days and

so on and so on and so on. Uh there shall be established annually as described paragraph D below. the re the original policy that the that the school association had presented had language in it relative to teacher contract days uh well and and and different support staff and pair professional staff and the fact that I don't think we want that specific language into the into the policy because it says or otherwise determined by contract and or negotiate agreements. which is what we do anyway. And with especially support staff, there's a lot of different number of days that they work. So I took those two pieces out. >> Okay, cool. Any question? We'll look for a motion to approve policy IC school year school year for first read and adoption. I'll make a motion. >> A

second. Any discussion? All those in favor? I >> opposed. Stay. Motion carries. 4 Z. Move on to the student representative report. >> I have a question. >> Yes. >> Are we not doing the Audi group thing tonight? >> We are not. That's correct. I was instructed just as the meeting began. >> Okay. >> Terrible. Continue. >> Student representative reporting. I don't think we have >> no >> superintendent report. >> Okay. Kind of kind of short, but just a couple things. I'll I'll highlight um we are math empowered uh programming which is a staff development for for teaching math at middle school or elementary, middle school, high school. They'll be at Lakeway this Friday. And uh the consultant will be working with grades five, six, and title one. And that consultant's name is Beth Wheeler. She's

been here before. I warned I warned Michelle about this. I asked her to as part of my report to uh talk to us a little bit about robotics and activities coming up because I know that things are coming very quickly >> night tomorrow night where all the families will come in and we'll go over the schedules um for the next two competitions. So we lead the 13th, 14th, 15th for high school. We booked an Airbnb down in that area for the students. There's um nine to 11 students eligible to go at this point. Um and then we have um four adults going and Mr. Cox will be going to cook all of the meals again this year. So, he was working on family night tonight and then um I believe they're on scheduled for the

board either on the 16th or the 23rd to come in and talk about their competitions and >> Oh, cool. >> um what they're doing. So, and then we go to UVM different schedule this year. It's a Thursday, Friday, and a Saturday. And it's um partly because it's up against Easter. So, they'll leave Thursday, Friday, and Saturday um for April. And that's at UBM. Again, booked a Airbnb in Hinesburg, Vermont um to house all the students. So, we'll see how we do. We are ahead of the game like they are doing a final assembly tonight and then they'll be demonstrating that robotic and the competition out tomorrow evening um to their families. So sometimes last year we didn't even have the robot all together and all the coding done before we went to the first competition.

So they are ahead of the game. So now they're competing um everything except for the lift and they're going to do one lift um which correspond to having them. It's always fun to have them come to meetings. Make sure they bring lots of cool things. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> They will. And then robotics is also hosting April in April this year their um the robotics festival is scheduled >> just similar to what they did last year >> at the gym but we did it in the month of April this year and not May because there's so many things in the month of May. >> That was really cool. >> I got that notification from first. So we were just going to post it again for the long term. >> That's awesome. So, as I'm

preparing my report and looking through some emails and different things, I happen to notice the uh email going out to staff at uh Lakeway trimester 2 reports going out this week, which of course means that the school is twothirds or school year is twothirds of the way done and only a third to go. So, I thought that was was of note. Uh years go fast. And then of course winter sports and uh you know our ski team uh had a great year. Chris had a had a very very happy with the turnout and the performance of the ski team. They went to a number of meets and of course the basketball teams are are playing this week tonight tomorrow night uh for an opportunity to go to the state championship game Saturday at Kobe Sawyer.

So wishing them thinking about them tonight, the boys tonight, and we'll be over at the regional tomorrow for the the girls semi-final. >> Okay, that's all I have, >> Steve.
