Um and um we did have like a last minute donation that Michelle will talk to under her under her section. >> Okay, great. >> And it's already been added to your votes. So >> Okay. >> Um is there anything else, Patty, that we have to do with you? >> No. >> I would say that at some point when we have a lighter agenda, it might be good. Let's see. So that means we have what is we have one more meeting with Erica. Maybe next meeting it would be good to just do a debrief of the budget cycle and the deliberative um because I think there are a couple things that are probably worth us talking about. Um but we don't need to do that tonight. Anything else? Any questions for the business administrator? Going once
twice. All right. Then we're going to move on to new business and we'll begin with I presume both Yalda presentations. >> Right. So Christopher Marks uh faculty I do outdoor programming and this is Luke Hampton who we partner with. He works as a dad who lives local in Littleton. So I glad that he could come tonight because he and I work very closely with our students. So we're here tonight to seek board approval of two overnight opportunities for our students coming up. We do have the wilderness first aid which you guys approved back earlier in the year. That's coming up in March after we returned from break. But we have um the annual Gala Middle School regional conference that's coming up in May on the 17th and 18th which is a Sunday and a Monday.
>> Sunday the 17th and Monday the 18th and it's great opportunity for students to connect with other regional YATA students just their age all around the north country. >> Right. And we also our high school Yaltta students help our planning our regional YA students which we have I think four right now are helping to plan and facilitate that. So it kind of makes a nice pass through. So we've been trying to grow that. So that's we we've done that the past two years actually. So this will be the third year we've done that. It's a wonderful experience. That's an overnight um in May. And then again for the third year in a row, Luke and I are doing a summer little adventure camp. So this is a week or so after school gets out. Um,
in the past we've done canoeing, rock climbing. Um, that's what we're looking to do again. We're looking to do a canoe adventure down to Connecticut with a rock climbing. Whether to start off or end depends on the weather. We'll hope for dry weather one of the days so we can do that. And that would be uh June 29th to Thursday, July 2nd. Right? So week or so after we get out and that's open to incoming eighth graders, um, ninth graders and tth graders. some of the students who have done that over the past couple years. Um, typically we just did middle school, now they're in high school and they're like, "We really want to do it." So, we didn't want to close the door. It stinks to be you, now you're in high school. So,
that's kind of what we're doing now. And >> we've decided to create like a like almost a mentorship opportunity for those 10th graders that have been in the program, >> right? So, we're actually Yeah. And this spring, we're look to um bring in some middle school students again. We've often done the LEAP programming and that's been just middle school. We've kind of switched it to a leadership high school, but we're going to look to have some of the middle schoolers come in in the spring and have some of the high schoolers mentor them because they're with us now until the end of the year if that all makes sense. So, the two trips, not to belor the whole piece, we have one coming up in May and we have that's the regional middle school and
we have the adventure camp um June 29th to July 2nd. Those are the two overnight opportunities. Oh, and there's no cost because of grant funding from Michelle through ADAPT, right? It helps fund our partnership with Luke. So, there's no cost to the Wilton students. Other schools typically have to pay out, but Michelle has been able to leverage this. So, it's been fantastic. >> It's part of our contracting through the leadership through adventure program and then the wild program, the wilderness youth leadership development, which is focused on sixth Great. Any questions? >> How many students do you expect at each event? >> So, for the the Yalton Middle School, I think we can Littleton can bring typically up to 10. It'll probably be about eight or 10. The summer adventure camp, we think we can bring
up to maybe 12 if we have the wrership for that. >> If that answers your question. >> Yes, it does. Thank you. >> Yeah. Oh, perfect. Any further questions? We'll look then for a motion to approve both the Yaltta Middle School Regional Conference and the Alta Summer White Mountain Adventure Camp as presented. >> I'll make a motion. >> Second, any discussion? All those in favor? I oppos. Motion carries 40. Thank you for being here. Feel free to stay as long as you'd like. Well, I can't add in in answer to also to the numbers. So, we're getting, you know, upwards of, you know, 8 10 in that order for these different programs here. We do have now with the Yaltta group, the high school YAL, we have we had so many we had an interest
and then a commitment meeting and we have 17. So, we've actually got two separate cohorts. So, we're going to rotate them. So, not one group misses their EF and J block classes every Monday. It's every other Monday. So it lessens the academic hit and we're rotating them through and we're able to kind of pair the cohorts personalitywise like one group is kind of more hard charging. I'm kind of a less averse to risk. The other group is kind of a little more cautious. They might want to process things. So we're able to kind of accommodate that. So we're very optimistic. This is >> hoping to grow these programs coming years. >> Yeah. >> Thank you very much. Thank you. You're welcome. I think we're working on funding. If you get bored, come back. >> Great.
>> I think I want to go listen to that music. >> You should. >> All right. Uh we'll move on then to new business item C. Uh above the notch tuition. At least I assume that's the age of your question. >> All right. >> Um I've put a proposal to adjust the tuition for next year. In the last eight years that we've been in existence, our tuition has been $500 per class. We've never changed it. But due to state legislation, rules and regulations um and the change of funding, we we put a portion of this in the budget and I want to be able to match that budget based on our out of district um tuition coming in. So, I'm looking to see if we can raise the tuition per course to 750 and then
my hope is that's going to balance out so we'll have almost an even match on the tuition for next year between what we take in locally, what we get in the grant and then what we um bring in for revenue on the tuition side. >> Do you think this will have an impact on um enrollment? I average between four to eight students from out of district on any given year over the course of the last eight years. So right now we have three two two one from Lincoln and one from profile right now that I'm here and they'll be here next fall two. So I just want the districts I have notified the district to say I may increase the tuition. It will not be a lot. We're asking to raise $250, which I don't
believe is that much given what they get. They get a high school diploma out of the field. So, um, it's up to you guys. I just I just wanted to put it out that in eight years, I've never raised the tuition in above a notch community school. And this doesn't change for the adults. Adults over the age of 21, we bring in about $265,000 in grants for that age group. it is just the ADP 16, 17, 18 year olds that I'm looking to um change that tuition around a little bit just to offset the district and also to show our taxpayers that you know I'm being cautious of that but I want to match um the funds that you guys put in the budget this year to offset what you know out of and it's
little to district students we don't charge for it's just our out of district so it's like Lisbon sends students profile Lynwood Just under 21, you were saying. >> Yeah, it's for 16, 17. So, under the legislation law for 16, 17, and 18 year olds, it changed this year. That's they took $400,000 out of the educational trust fund at the state level to pay for the ADP programs. The adults, and they consider an adult over the age of 21, did not change. Um, and I we charge $125, of course, for adults. And just so that they have some snake in the game. So that >> and in every case when we have an out of district 16, 17, 18 year old, this is coming uh from this this tuition is coming from the sending district. >>
Yes. >> Okay. >> Yep. And they do pay tax come. >> Any other questions? We'll look then for a motion to approve the above the notch tuition as presented. >> So move. >> Is there a second? >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> All those in favor? >> I oppose abstain. Motion carries 40. We'll move on to new business item D 2024 2025 indicator 12 early transition. Yeah, a couple reports there I shared with you um from the DOE. First one being uh early childhood and no compliance issues with that report. All zeros, which is a good thing. And then the the second one again looking at compliance uh findings and there were no findings uh that uh or no no findings of non-compliance on any of the measures there you'll see there. So, I just
want to keep those in front of the board, the community, and let know that we're, you know, Kelly and the rest of her crew, administrators and teachers and everybody are doing a good job with keeping all of our special ed programs within compliance by state and federal standards. >> So, presume that's just a required disclosure. Nothing we have to vote on to sort of accept information. >> Any questions then on either of those reports for the superintendent? Imagining that Greg may want to talk about job descriptions. Unless the board objects strenuously, I think we move on to the donation from the town of Newbury and we can double back here a little bit depending on if that's me. So, um, our building trades, um, Kevin Lawrence has done very well at finding projects for the
students to do. So, Newberry, the town of Newberry has asked them to build a shed. They're going to build it in pieces and then they're going to take it. Um, so they submitted a check uh for $3,950 came into the SAU. Um, we're after the SAU, not to put it in a student account, but to put it at the SAU office um because the town of Newberry has asked specifically build a shed. um to have the money housed at SAU and then we'll have open POS for the materials of the shad based on the bid that they gave us questions and we'll look then for a motion to approve the donation from the town of Vermont in the amount of $3,950 to build a shed motion. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Any discussion?
All those in favor? >> I opposed. Same. Motion carries 4 Z. We're going to keep moving on. We'll double back. Unfinished business residency program. Is there something? >> Yeah. Just update the board. uh following following the uh the uh town of Liberty. Uh we've been we have been in contact with the state and met with them a couple of times now and just uh moving forward with the program and getting getting promoted and and uh you know we're going to we're going to do things a little bit differently this year in the sense that uh instead of waiting for all the apps to come in and interviewing them all together later on, we're going to we're going to take applications and interview as they come and that way we get a really strong candidates. They
don't have to wait around. We don't have to wait around. So, we're going to try to be a little more proactive on that and hopefully that will lead to better better more more interest and uh and outcomes of good candidates. So, we we'll have another actually our next meeting with the Bryant or the state folks is tomorrow morning. >> Any questions on that? Okay. Uh, we'll start with committee reports. Um, negotiations. I say we have nothing. But then I saw you just sent us an email. >> Yes. >> With twous that will take up the first meeting in March that have to do with >> Yes. >> the health insurance changes that we voted on. >> Yep. Gordon and I just finished them up today. >> Okay. >> And they just went back to the
union for them to vote on. So once they've voted on them and approved them, they're going to go back to me by the end of next week. So, I'll include them in your March 2nd my board report for you guys to review and approve. >> Can I just forward this to Travis because I didn't see >> No, I I just sent it to the chair. >> Oh, w right on. >> Um, so yeah. So, I haven't signed anything with Anthem yet because I want to make sure they both get that both unions approve that one. So, >> all right. So, we will um we will take that up first Monday in March. >> Yes. >> And then let's move on. Greg, I skipped over the job descriptions in case you wanted to talk about them.
So, we're going to go back to those in a minute. Okay. >> But we have arrived. Perfect timing. Facilities report. Almost all. So, we'll talk about the facilities report. >> Uh we'll finish all the reports back to that portion. So, facilities report, facilities maintenance plan. So, um there was some requirements made by the DOE that uh we had to have a facilities maintenance plan. Um it changed mainly to Lakeway because we're up for renewal there. So, without submitting a facilities maintenance plan, we would not be able to renew our uh permit operators. Um, one of the things that we discussed was rolling in obviously the high school, middle school also into the plan because eventually it's going to roll into it. So Dale and Matt have championed going through the 114 pages um that the
state sent them as far as an outline. Um, and obviously making it fit to our buildings and needs. Um you will have to approve that um maintenance as board. I'm not sure that we need to vote on that tonight. >> Yeah. Motion to approve the facility >> and we need to vote on that tonight. >> So we need to approve. >> Yeah. So pages one through 78 of the report actually deal with Lakeway and from 79 to 114 is appendes for a variety of items. Let's see. We have that was by far the big um we did discuss um academy re relocation um and how it worked if it worked um how it affects space over here. Um it was it was a really good discussion. Obviously, we didn't um some of the upside of
that would be we would actually take the people out of the academy which would allow us to get work done and stuff which were always pigeon with the time frames during the school vacations whatever. So, one of the upsides of doing this would be that people are holding up more the school year obviously and some of the other things that have to be addressed. Um, is there anything else to that? >> No, I mean um and the only thing I Well, the only thing I you know I brought up was whether or not um >> we're still talking about moving the academy, right? about whether or not um there was an opportunity. You know, we talked about the opportunity to partner with the town parks and recck use of the building. You know, if they
were to move from uh the academy building over to here, how can we still make use of that building because we still need the gym. We still have to heat the building. So, there's really no I think Dale kind of said there was really no cost savings to the to the upkeep of the building. You still had to maintain it. So, you know, so the question was whether or not we could find other use for it. I know at one point um Matt you had mentioned that uh St. Rosema had some interest in the Catholic church and they might be I have no idea if that's even progressed or >> no progression. So and then the other thing that I kind of added to it is we have a new superintendent, new principal coming in.
Does it make sense to, you know, do our due diligence and between now and next year's deliberative come up with a plan for that and present that to the town that we heard you last year, we're making efforts to move on this or the option is to just make the decision now. But I feel like if we do that now, we're rushing and I just I feel like if we put more effort and time into it with a plan, I think it'll be more it'll be better received by our by our staff and faculty be better received by the community. But at the same time, I think the concern was that for years we've been saying, "Yeah, we're going to study it. We're going to study it. We haven't." So it's kind of a mix.
So I still kind of feel that I don't think there's any rush to do it for July 1, but if we do move forward on studying and studying the hospital, I think they were focused on I don't know what floor it's considered. I always call it the mezzanine, but this mid level up here, there's three classrooms as being an ideal location for the academy to move. Keeps them in the building, keeps them close to the main office. Um, but you know, I think the idea was that they were looking to try to do this, you know, and make this decision soon so they could inform teachers and and teachers that had to move locations to free up those classrooms, etc. Um, and I I think, you know, that's where we kind of I don't think
we made a decision, but we wanted to bring it back to the board for the board to give their thoughts as to whether we pursue this for July 1 or do we pursue this, allow the new principal and superintendent to weigh in um with their opinion after they've had a chance to look at it and give us more time to work with the town to see if there's an opportunity to to utilize the space at the old at the academy building um after that move. I captured most of that. >> Yes, you did. >> The other advantage here is that it has an elevator to that floor. So, if you have students that are wheelchair handicap accessible >> Yeah. Handicap accessible, say for parents, you're trying to do meetings with the academy. Is is stuff
can't be over there for um parents that are that are um on crutches or any type of thing. it's very difficult to get in and out there. Whereas here, there's plenty of meeting spaces in this building, plus there's an elevator to that one floor for them to be able to have that. So, that was one of the other things that we looked at for that space. >> Thank you, >> I think trying to have something in place for this delivery 27 makes a lot of sense. Travis and I have had in, as you know, are working on goals for whoever the next superintendent might be that we will eventually full board for evaluation, ratification, and that could be the kind of thing that fit well on there. I think we have some other priorities. We
have to make sure, but I think that that makes sense, too. >> And I did use the term like shotgun decision during the meeting, and I don't I didn't intend it to come across in a negative way. We all understood what they were saying. >> Yeah. I didn't mean that to come across in a negative way. I think it was taken that way, but it was more or less if we have an opportunity to do something better with our with our town partner, let's take the time and do it right and make thoughtful decisions rather than trying to cram it in before a July one deadline. >> That gym is essential to especially East athletics in this town. Without that gym, we don't have three, four basketball. We won't have five, six basketball. a place
for the baseball softball teams showing their softball to practice in the springtime when it's snow outside. >> I think in the next month they're already starting uh baseball on Sundays doing batting for softball and little league baseball. So I mean there that gym gets used year round. So >> based on the meeting minutes, it doesn't sound like anybody was one way or the other. They all just gave their opinion. So, I think that you guys should wait until new leadership is in place. Um, also side note, it does say in the meeting minutes that we don't need to vote on that maintenance plan. >> Says plan will be shared with the full board for review before the market. >> We're ready to share. >> Well, because it says that Bill asked if approval was required
today. Dale clarified that board approval and state renewal will follow later as later today. >> Um well Dale when Dale shared the plan he said it took approval from the school board to send to the DOA for Lakeway's renewal operate inspection. So maybe later. >> Oh okay. >> Well does anybody have questions or concerns about the facility maintenance plan? >> Say the question is the board readiness. Did they have a chance to review it? >> It's very interesting. I certainly can't say I read 114 pages. >> I mean, there's a lot of tables that >> Okay. Well, let's work in reverse order. Anybody have anything else they want to say about the academy? >> We brought it up before when we had the Lake Committee where we had discussed it back then if we were
going to put them on the lower level. um which was not a fan favorite, but it sounds like new space is being explored. >> Yeah, I think the original space was like in the basement or down in the old the older portion of CTC, which felt more kind of walked away or or distanced away from the rest of the school. And >> this is a much more ideal location and and the the teaching staff of the academy um were very excited about that potential space. So that was a big >> to me that was a big one that they that was something they were you know very much alert to anything else for the academy back to the facil sorry okay back to the facilities maintenance plan we'll look then for a motion to approve
the facility maintenance plan as presented >> some second >> any discussion All those in favor? I opposed. Motion carries 5-0. We're going to continue and just round out committee reports. Policy committee 800,000 policies, some new some updates. >> These are short. >> Any highlights that you want to I know we've talked about class size. There's a couple that >> uh we have discussed, but any highlights that you want to draw the board's attention to? I think maybe there's nothing here terribly different other than probably the uh best interest a JCA U and I mentioned this some time ago I think actually way before Christmas that the that the updated policy did have a a little bit of a change the biggest change being it requires an annual review by superintendent Um, and then they put
more of the more of the language and structure of of the whole process into this policy which wasn't in the previous policy. Um, yeah, a lot of a lot of the rest of it FAA is kind of an interesting policy. I'll just point it out. Facility plan unused district property. We're required in the event that we abandon a building by the way to make it available for other educational entities in town including private school. So something to think about. >> I had a question on um uh IC school year and school year calendar. There are no dates in there. There are blanks for the duration of the school year for support staff as well as the dates by which superintendent will submit the calendar to the board and by which the board will approve the
calendar. There's quite a few highlighted areas that aren't >> besides that weren't great or >> uh there's one too under right before letter D that talks about a schoolboard policy with it and just gives imba but looks to me like there was something before that I meant were you talking about other policies? >> Oh no no this one in general. Sorry. Uh, no. The only other question I have about other policies is, and maybe I missed this, so I apologize, but um, is there any update on the school choice or the open enrollment piece because there are a couple of policies in here that >> school size did you take? I would assume those policies took into part. >> Yeah. >> What may or may not happen with open enrollment. Okay. >> Yeah. So, you
know, with open enrollment, um, yeah, it's kind of it kind of changed a little bit every day. A week or so ago, it looked like they were going to push it through pretty quickly. Actually, our last board meeting, they talked about that. Then it's it slowed down. The last I last I knew that uh that a hearing had not been scheduled with the uh with the Senate or the the House Senate already passed a bill uh that they were likely going to be going to some kind of a conference committee, which will be a little bit. So, it seems like it's the breaks have been gently nudged because there was a there was a uh a movement to make it you effective as soon as the governor signed the bill be immediate. That doesn't that
doesn't seem to be the case anymore. So I think the general consensus is that it's going to happen. It may there there is some maybe this multiple wishful thinking. There was some thought that maybe through conference committee and really taking more thoughtful approach and approach that set it up for more success that it might in fact pass the legislature this year be signed by the government but not go into effect for another fiscal year. believe in fiscal 28 if that's we'll see. Yeah, good. I'm glad you asked about that. >> If that's the case, the warrant article will be approved still be out. >> Yeah. Yeah. The warrant article still be there. >> It may not may or may not have any any legal status after after the legislature hand or the courts. There's still
there's still court action going on here, too. So, do we hold on IC for now until those? >> Yeah, looks like we need to we I I'm sorry. I should have popped that. We got to do a little work on that. So, we can bring >> Just a comment on JCA. I the procedure that is outlined is consistent with the RSA, but since the RSA sucks, the policy sucks, but the policy is legal. So that I I have no good reason to not vote for it because it it helps the board be consistent in state law. It's just it's still state laws fixing on this front. >> Any questions on any of the other policies then? >> Yeah, I leave those I mean I leave them just as they're messy. We clean them up Sheena
clean them up before we publish them on the website. I try to leave all the school board notes and everything in there so you can see what's different but one thing also their their guidance. >> Okay, any other questions? Um just my personal comment on I class size for students um stay um state says kindergarten 18 students it says the board is going to reduce it to 16. I don't see any reason to reduce any of the class sizes from what the state recommends. So, I'm not in favor of reducing these class sizes. >> I think we had originally reduced class sizes based on trying to fit new language building with a smaller square footage. Um that way. >> Okay. So then let's do this. Let's try to vote on that one by itself and
then we can vote on the others as a slate. Maybe that is the thing that makes the most sense. So we'll look then for a motion to adopt motion to approve for first reading adoption policy II motion. >> I'll second. >> Any further discussion? All those in favor? >> I opposed. >> And abstain. Motion carries 410. We look then for a motion to approve the following policies for reading adoption. JF JF R E B E C A E H L E F E H G C C A D E B A F A A G B E B I H C D C A J I C K J L C J A L E B and J F A B D. >> Make a motion. I'll second. >> Any further discussion? >> Just one
quick question on the change of class of school assignment, best interest, and hardship. >> Was there any changes? I'm just scrolling through >> that whole section below that line. >> Just that's okay. Everything from below the line. >> That's what I understand it. Yeah, >> that's correct. Okay. >> It's that like pages and pages and again it maps exactly the RSA, >> right? It junky. >> Okay. Thanks. And no other questions. Motion made and second. Any further discussion? All those in favor? I >> I opposed abstain. Motion carries. Five zero. We're going to double back now. New business. We have one, two, three, four, five job descriptions. I think my math is right. If I can count to five correctly. >> Was that out? Fantastic. Steve, anything you want to say about? >> Sure. Um,
there there was a couple there's a couple Well, sorry. The assistant principal job description that that is, as I noted there, just it combines we had two different positions. It combines the two of the major uh duties of of each position. Uh now that that's going to be go from two people doing that to one. Um we did uh we did make sure that we talk about a couple of things that have been on our mind. You look under student support behavior and school climate which I think is on the third page talking about bullying. Um, there's also a a a statement in here relative to uh fair and equitable practices that's in the that's in the principal description as well. Other than that, it was mainly combining the two with removing a few things
that were kind of redundant. I guess the best way to put it. Can we move that job description to nonpublic just kind of some questions that might affect >> specifically assistant principal? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Sure. Let me get on afterward. >> Any other questions or discussion points on the principal job description, the SAP coordinator job description, and the learning uh lab job descriptions? >> Any other major changes to the principal job description other than what you just spoke of? No, that was one that they've had a couple principal job description. One was 2021, I think it was 2021, and we just wanted to make get bring the the latest one back to the board and reaffirm that's the job description we wish to use. >> Is this one also the one that's been
posted to the candidates? >> And then the little ones learning lab. Did we But did we was that ever at one point little leopards? >> It is. And so the state of New Hampshire is in the process under the teacher education program for CTE of re well they're redoing all the competencies and at one time they were called preschoolers but they want them to go back to lab like we have building trades lab auto label lab >> so go back and use that terminology. >> Yeah I don't have I don't have a problem with the lab. I'm questioning did we used to I thought we used to refer to it as little leopards take care or little leopard learning and now it's little ones. I'm just curious as to why >> the teachers that are
there now wanted to be able to kind of rebrand and reorganize that. So, we came up with a they came up with a little ones learning lab as being the title for it. Um I asked if there was history or attachment to Little Leopards or when that came about and they said that when it was >> um before the new one was built in 2011. Before that, it used to be called UJ Gallon preschool and then when they did the new addition, they changed it to Little Leopards um for the school. What we want to do is try to get so because of the coalition in the states in North Country Coalition. They keep trying to refer to uh Little Leopards, Lakewood Leopards, um as a preschool. and we're trying to pull away from that
because it's not really a true north country open preschool but yet a lab attached to teacher learning there. So we thought if we could rebrand the name for what it really is which is a lab um for three to five year olds and go in that direction. Um we would start there and then the parent has never really had a CTE um parent description a job description. So, um, she's been a district, but then years ago it was decided that she would be a, um, full-time CTE, um, parent. So, we wrote a job description, and I did pull from the state director's meeting for, um, from the other, uh, preschool labs their what their parent description was, and that's what we utilized to build this one along with the lead teacher um, position. So, um,
we just thought it would be a way to start fresh as we try to create a lab simulation. We have a bigger plan that I was going to bring forth after we get the job descriptions through to kind of give an overview of what that plan will look like moving forward for that lap. >> I just think, sorry, go ahead. >> I was I I this is not something we go through often, right? My my perspective is that if we're going to be contemplating a rebrand of a public facing entity that should come to the board and that should be in and of itself a vote and not uh sort of connected to a vote on a job description. So I think for me like we could vote I can't make a motion but if
I could I would vote just contingent on the board approving the rebrand at a later date because I think it's worth talking about in detail. I don't think it needs to hold up because it's not going to have any impact in the job responsibilities and duties. It's just a title, right? So, I don't see a reason to hold up the the the the job description itself, but I think the rebrand is something that that should be brought to the board. >> And and I Yeah, and I agree, but I also kind of want to understand a little bit more. So, is the state moving away from the term preschool for the entire state or just because we have it attached to a CTE program, it's considered a lab? Okay. So, it's considered a um it's
the state considers the teacher education classroom and lab as a lab and not a standalone preschool. >> So, because we call it a preschool, people are very confused with that is a preschool that runs by itself when in a sense it's not. It is attached to the uh teacher education program as the lab that has children in it. So the kids come out of there now with a So I have three kids that went through that program. >> They all went through the preschool program. Then they went through the prek program before going on to kindergarten. Would that be different now for kids in that program? Were they still >> What is the prek? I don't want to >> There was this there was I think I don't know what ages but the last three
>> the last year they were there or maybe the last two years that they were there they were in a prek program and prior to that where they were in a preschool program and it was just it was separated little work groups in the classroom. I know that my kids you know all I had three boys that went through that >> right >> from as early as they were allowed in which I can't remember the age but up until they graduated and moved on to kindergarten. So Jerry Fillian has been there for 15 years. She did not be vaccinated. >> Well, every year they have a graduation. They have a preschool kids which are younger and they have the kids that graduate. >> It's like a year one and a year two. So like the
three year olds had one curriculum and then the four the foury olds have the other curriculum which was day going into preparing them. It's just that this will allow for we're going to put more emphasis on our students that are in the teacher ed program to spend more time in the the lab. >> Okay. >> So that they're they're getting what they need for competencies. >> Yeah. I I get that part. I guess I'd want to discuss a little further the optics from a parent >> that's got a child in the program >> versus the optics from a student that's in the program. Um because I don't I guess if I was a parent doing it all over again, I don't know how excited I would be about putting my child into a lab versus
a preschool. >> Right. >> Okay. >> And so I think you I think if we can do both and and talk about the brand >> Yeah. And even if the lab piece is required by the state and it doesn't matter what we think fine. I was speaking about the shift from little leopards to little ones. I mean that's a substantial shift and I just don't think it's one that should be taken without board direction. It's also a work. It's considered a workbased learning lab. That's what it's defined as. >> So, it sounds like we need a capstone presentation. >> Okay. >> On whatever is going on over yonder and that that should include a recommendation if one is forthcoming to change the name whether to comply with state requirements or to comply with state requirements
and pivot away from leopards for whatever reason. So I don't think that's statemate mandated, but I think separate from that because we could fall down that rabbit hole pretty far tonight. To go back through the job description, are there any questions about the substance of the job descriptions for those roles or for any of the other um two we're going to hold the assistant principal until nonpublic. So we look then for a motion to approve the principal job description, the SAP coordinator job description, and the little ones learning lab lead teacher and paraprofessional job descriptions with the approval of the latter two contingent on board subsequently approving the forthcoming rebrand proposal. >> So moved. >> Second. Any further discussion? All those in favor? >> I >> opposedain. Motion carries 5. So Sheena, Steve, Michelle, whenever
y'all are ready to put that on agenda, you let us know. We'll be here. >> Yes. >> Uh okay. So, um is there any further unfinished business? I don't think so. We'll move that into the student rep report which I know we have. >> Student student rep is playing basketball. >> Well, pull her off the All right. We'll move that to the superintendent. 2918 US at that. >> Good. Good. >> And the boys are at 6:30. >> Yep. >> A little after >> probably because the fire because of the fire of the seven knucklehead the fire alarm. No, it was a popcorn shoot. >> Oh, Louis Babin did it. >> Trevor Roy. >> I'm gonna blame Lou. Can I blame Louie? >> Yeah. >> Can it be Can the board take a vote to blame
Lou? >> Um, all right. >> Louis knows that. >> We're gonna I'm gonna text him and tell him we took a vote. >> We're going to move on to the superintendent's report. >> All right. Um, and I was going to talk a little bit about a little bit more open enrollment, but not too much. um did have North Country Superintendent the other day uh over at Proa High School and their their students uh made breakfast for us. So that was that was really good. They've got a little they got a little mini I say many juniors and seniors there. But they do have a culinary program. Um and I don't know they had half a dozen students there that were working and a teacher there and it was very nice. They did a great job
of it. enjoyed uh enjoyed the work we did there, the time we had together there with the breakfast. Um open enrollment. Again, there superintendent talked a little bit about the status of the districts, most the districts either have or will have warrant articles and we talked about of course all the the questions, the discussions that came up in general around that. Um there was a uh Gorum once again did host a uh a uh meeting that invited superintendent boards and state reps and uh I wasn't able to make that this year unfortunately but um sound like it was well attended and and again I think of something going forward that's worthy of some time I think and certainly getting people together and talking and and uh at least understanding where each other's coming from. I
think is probably a good thing. Uh we talked about the region three a little bit and Michelle in the near future we will be bringing a uh >> an amendment to the region three agreement for the board to consider and that centers around changes uh partially driven by open enrollment. that uh uh those changes are basically well the essence of those is that uh students that come or and this is this by the way this is law so this isn't a proposal students who come here in the morning take a take a CTE class if they wish to remain in the building for one or more classes the rest of the day they may do so >> uh they pay tuition based on the region three agreement uh the sending district has to provide the
transportation But, you know, I think that's probably a good thing if you think about it in terms of helping kids and maybe maybe it will lead to further cooperation um and work together going forward. >> That's forthcoming. You're saying, >> pardon? >> That's forthcoming. Yeah. >> Yeah. I hope so. >> Okay. >> Um met with middle school last week talked about ASI. That's a designation through the Every Student Succeeds Act and sharing a lot of data with them and brainstorm and continue to work on improving specifically math scores with students with disabilities. That's what the the building has been flagged on. Um, so I got got a uh I got an interesting email here. I don't know how much I should say about it, but uh it uh one of the things that the governor
has put big emphasis on already is is literacy and uh in improving literacy uh awareness and instruction and really making action making schools make sure that they uh are have you know research and tested programs and research based programs and are doing what need to to improve students reading ability. Uh there there apparently has been some work done that looks at schools and their reading performance visav student free and reduced lunch uh counts and looking at schools that have high free lunch counts and relatively high reading scores and for the state and it looks like we've been identified this is a good identification and the school is producing the pretty high reading scores especially in light of great news and I'll have more details on in the near future, but I think that was something
I wanted to to share a little bit tonight with you. Um, you know, I think that I think that's it. I think I know that uh this week is a is always an interesting week right before February break and of course winter carnival's going on here and I I was in the building today, but uh I know there's going to be a lot of energy, a lot of stuff going on and people having a good time this week with the kids of the week. It's vacation. >> Huh? >> I I forgot that my kids are at school next week. >> That's true. They know. They know. >> And you're not traveling. >> I am now my plans. >> That's all I have for you tonight. >> Any questions for Superintendent? >> Um, we haven't had
an update in a while. Um, how's the phone policy been going this season with the pouches? Do we have any idea if it's working? Is it not working? Is it >> All I know is nobody showed up at my office. So, I'm happy. >> Nobody >> because I think after third offense, they were supposed to be sent to me. >> Okay. >> We did talk about it in the context of the budget discussion a couple times with the building administrators and they reported that >> it had been well that there was a >> I don't see that one of that. >> There was an inevitability to it with the state law. That was what they reported to us. was it felt different to the kids that we weren't mandating it but that it was certainly
made the beginning of the year easier. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. I think of kids and families with we had we've had a few cases where we had to work through some things but for the most part understanding what that means you know I think I think that it's certainly probably improved the learning environment >> any other questions for superintendent >> certainly probably >> I just learned what those discs on the wall were >> yeah that's I asked him what that's Yeah, >> there's discs on the wall by the entrance and by the right by the corner of the office. And I'm like, what are those for? And they were like, oh, those are for the pouches. >> Yeah. >> So, >> all right. Well, look, uh public input now. >> Can I just say
it's CT of the month and we did um passport pathways to passports night and profile. So it took all of the CT teachers over to present um to um all of their seventh, eth graders to generate interest into um >> TJ GT center and also White Mountain Regional was present and to their center. So we all met over there the other night um last week um and it was a fairly good turnout. Um I think it will grow as people learn what is available here and students then we'll start um in March we do open door tours to all of the schools in their um 8th 9th and 10th graders so that they can come through the facilities we do it along with White Mountain Regional at the same time. So, um, it's a good
way to publicize out what we are doing here in the other schools. >> I did see some stuff on social media about that. Um, I think there was a profile there or something was saying good things about your presentation and college credits and more help. So, >> are you working on more of your videos like the video you did last year? So, we're working with um Josh Regardus is looking to donate some time with a couple internships to come in and host and do a full-blown video presentation of our CTE center using this um video equipment to do it. Um they also did they won the contract for um the EA and hosted our business program this year for their commercial. Um, so he is looking to come in and do a video for us
this spring so that we can then utilize that um for HJ GMA presentation and he's also going to be the keynote speaker for um the CTE completed ceremony. He's a graduate from us. Anything else? Republican look then for a properly worded motion to enter into non-public session. I'm making a motion to enter into non-public session under paragraph 2 section 3 of the RSA 9183 of the right to know law one the dispute motion compensation of any public employee investigation of charges against him or her two the hiring of any person and three matters which if discussed in public adversely affect the reputation of any person other than a member of this board is the Right. >> The superintendent. >> Any discussion? All those in favor? Roll call. >> Bill. Greg. >> Travis. Allen. >> Oh,
wait. We didn't get a second. >> We didn't get second. >> Pause. >> Seconded by Greg. May seconded. Any further discussion? All those in favor? Roll call vote, please. >> Greg at the same time. Motion carries 5. We're now in non public session. >> God bless America. She doesn't want you to forget though.
