Literally the fire was snow. >> I that was that was my second sign that something was wrong. I saw brake lights coming out of that sidewalk. Then I saw your truck on kilter and I said, "Oh man, I just went straight to the SA office." and I followed him >> and Sheena hopefully she got the hint when she walked outside and saw all the cars parked in the >> So I think we're live right >> so it is 5:03 we're going to call this meeting in Wilson school board to order and we're going to begin with the pledge of allegiance algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Um, Steve, I I just
emailed you the password for that computer. For some reason, if it goes blank, that way That's right. >> Yeah. That way you have the password for it. >> You just sent it to me. >> I said I via email. Yep. >> Okay. Thank you. So if there are no objections from the board, there's been asked to jump right ahead to section four, new business item D, the robotics overnight trips. And so we will do that. >> All right. >> So I have our team captain Alison here. >> Hello team captain Alison. Um so we are the robotics team is preparing a more formal presentation once we have our robot functional and um we get a little bit closer to um competition our competitions uh so that we can actually show you guys the robot and
how it's working and everything. Uh we're off to a great start this year. Uh we're leaps and bounds ahead of where we were last year. Uh the team spent a lot of time this summer working in the building um organizing and setting up our space so that we could uh you know hit the ground running at the start of the season. Um so we have a total of about 12 students. Um we have about half a dozen mentors. Uh two of those mentors are alumni. So I have one gentleman who was actually on the 2020 robotics team that went out got an engineering degree um because he loved robotics so much and then came back and you know wanted to help out the team. So it's great that um we have and then a for
a senior from last year has come back and is working in the community um and is now part of the helping out the team as well. So, um, tonight we are formally requesting permission to take the robotics team to two overnight, uh, competitions. The first one is in Bedford, New Hampshire. Um, the competition is taking place at Bedford High School and that's March 13th through the 15th. Uh the second one is the competition is at 8 p.m. and in Burlington, Vermont and that competition is the 2nd through the 4th of April. Um generally our competitions in the past have run Friday to Sunday. The UVM one runs Thursday through Saturday miss a little bit more school. Um half a day Thursday and a full day on Friday. Um so in each case we're going to
run it like we have in the past. Uh we are looking at Airbnbs that are conducive to maintaining supervision and separation at the same time. Um and have ample facilities to you know so people can spread out we can prepare meals as a team eat and you know rest because these competitions are very very intense. So um other than that we plan to operate just as we have in the past. All there will be no cost to any student. They can bring extra money if they want to buy concessions at the at the events, but everything is paid for through grants that support the robotics program, both from the state and from First Robotics, which is the organization we're affiliated with. Um, and then this all ties back into the um the career in tech
center robotics, aerospace, and design program. So, um, a lot of they'll also be doing work and learning about robots and all that stuff, um, as part of that program as well. So, it's all going to kind of mesh together and, uh, go from there. So, we are asking for permission to take those 12 students and mentors on those two weekends. >> Anything to add, Alison? This is your what? Third year. Third year. >> Third year. >> Yep. >> How's the competition stacking up this year? >> Um, we are in good shape. We're there's teams out there that have been around for like 30 years and it can be a little bit intimidating but um they've actually you know because the whole first robotics vibe they're very good about helping out other teams and you know
kind of pay it forward. So Lisbon just started a a robotics team in this, you know, first robotics team. And so I have one of the students that's on that team is one of my out the district students for the RAD program. And so I've been the working with their mentor and you know, we had them come to our first strategy meeting on the kickoff day that Saturday. um we've been sharing parts and information with them to help them get, you know, up and running for their their first rookie season. So, um it's a lot. It's very overwhelming. I remember back to, you know, 2019 when we started our and it's, you know, I was building robots in the back of my social studies classroom. You know, we had constitutions and metal shavings in the
same, you know, it was that and that's what they're up against in Lisbon as well. It's it's it's a really huge undertaking. So having any kind of support is is really a uh a great thing because we have some phenomenal facilities here in terms of robot production and and you know the materials and capabilities and grant funding we have are all you know a formula for success and as our team gets more experience we're going to you know definitely become more competitive in the grand scheme of things. If there are no further questions, we'll be looking for a motion to approve the robotics overnight field trip as presented. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any further discussion? All those in favor? >> I opposed. Motion carries 5. Thanks. >> Thank you very much. >> Feel
free to stay. Of course. >> Good luck. >> What's that? >> Feel free to stay. Of course. I would have to pick up my youngest daughter, but >> thank you Jeremy. >> Thank you. >> God speed. >> Um, okay. So, >> we're going to go back, I guess, and start at the top. Uh, we'll be looking for a motion to approve the consent agenda, which is robust. That includes minutes from the January 5th hearing, the January 5th meeting, and the January 14th hearing. >> Make a motion. >> Second. >> Any further discussion? >> All those in favor? I >> opposedain. Motion carries. 5-0. We'll move on to the business report. >> Well, I don't have too much to add. I >> do. Do you have votes from the budget committee? >> I never Well, they
still have to vote on the the open enrollment, but >> Dan still never forwarded me. >> You're talking the budget. The votes were on what we had the other night. I thought when we had >> No, I made them up. >> Oh, you made them up? >> Yeah. >> We were wondering who the one was that voted against. He >> knows who the one is. >> Now it's five more. Bill and I are trying to figure out who the one person that voted against every single >> Listen, I did that on purpose because I someone told us they voted no on everything. >> Oh, all right. >> They were openly They were open about >> We not have an official vote. >> So, no, DN still all these emails I've been getting back and forth.
>> They didn't they send you the I thought they did. >> Maybe we can talk about it tomorrow because we have three meetings this week. So, >> but policy meeting on Thursday on the war, but they sent us an email. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I thought I >> They sent an email about their lo. >> Well, I haven't seen it. >> I've only got probably >> Sorry, two from them. So, >> I really interrupted you. I apologize, >> but so I updated the budget, you know, based on our budget hearing at the last meeting. Um, so the estimated um tax rate will be 1035 just on the operating budget. and the um facilities which we already knew was 43 cents if the 574. >> Yes, we do have the votes. You sent it
in the minutes. >> Oh, in the minutes. Well, I was just looking for an email that directly told me to >> read their minutes, but >> how much is in our facilities capital reserve fund? Um, and our facilities is 220. >> That's the district facilities and that's what this article is for. >> Yeah, I was thinking that because I wasn't thinking about that. That's the 574 was what I was thinking for the the total in the capital facilities fund. This would put it up over 700. So do we consider dropping that request that warrant request down? >> I mean but in order for us to do we got to build it up >> in order to do our capital improvement plans that would just deplete it. >> You know what I mean? like we got
to have money in there. Um >> I mean even putting this money in there if we use no year end balance for any of our capital improvements this summer. >> Yeah. >> I mean we're just putting this in there just to take it back out. >> Yeah. >> You know, so we really need to do this for a couple years to get the balance up and then so much to sustain it annually after that. But >> Okay. >> Yeah. I think we had discussed increasing it this much now and then in further years you wouldn't have to ask for as much because you would have that foundation. >> Yeah. >> As long as you >> Yeah. >> depending on like what those improvements were for the year. We'd want a minimum of keeping right keeping
the minimum 500 in there at all times. >> So we'd be up and above that depending on >> to get started. Yeah. >> Yeah. I think we're looking at like what >> 500 almost 500 maybe like in >> one year. So >> yeah. Okay. >> Yeah, you were you were thinking the right thing but then I >> Yeah, I just >> it was for after once we built it up keeping that 500 in there. >> Okay. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Did anybody have any questions? >> But were they was it the same? of article 2 was 51 and all the others were 6. >> Oh, from the budget plate. >> Oh, okay. >> 51. >> We knew we had to update. We have to update the warrant after tomorrow night's meeting anyway. So,
there'll be a new one coming out just on votes though if everything goes as planned tonight. So, that's it. That's all that I had was just updating from the budget area. >> Can you share their votes with the rest of us? Yeah, I forwarded the email to you guys. >> Oh, okay. Well, there it is. >> Did you speak to the budget committee? >> Sorry, I didn't think this sentence. So like 51 on the budget, 60 on the facility CRF, 60 on the district equipment capital reserves, 60 special education, and then pending on the open enrollment. >> Yes. >> So only one person voted no and only on one thing, it would seem if I'm reading that correctly. Um, okay. So any other questions for the business administrator? All right, then we will move on
uh to new business open enrollment. Okay, I have Gordon Graham on the phone and Gordon will be Gordon will be joining us on the second as well for the delivery session. So, as we go through the war the open enrollment discussion, he'll be available to answer questions if we have any. So basically what you missed was >> Yeah. What did I miss? >> Um what's up on the board is what was presented to us. >> One basically one from each school building. Um and >> in zero out. >> Yep. Um, and from some of the public feedback, it was recommended that we don't restrict it to one and that we had kind of played around towards the end of doing like maybe 30 is kind of what we threw out, but we weren't >> definite
on that number districtwide, right? We we didn't specify per building in case things changed or people moved out or whatever, restricting oursel, right? still leaving the zero um out but increasing so we're not limiting and like I said we kind of just threw out the 30 but I think we were going to discuss that this evening >> are you are you able to hear us okay Gordon >> yes I am okay just I got cut off from I I sorry about that >> worry use >> and at this point how many Um, neighboring or nearby jurisdictions have neighboring districts have enacted something with this kind of language. Nobody has in the in the immediate area because they haven't they're kind of in the same spot. We are getting getting like the SB2 schools like 36
which will be by all accounts be uh passing something like this or putting something like this to the voters. Um the the best again there's no there's no whatever. I mean people ask me all the time and I said I think we are but that's my recommendation to the board but uh we'll see but my indicate the indications are that uh neighboring districts will also have a warrant article similar to what we're talking about >> and this would need to pass by a simple majority >> correct. I will I will say this and I think that I I get the argument we ought to we got a little space, we got room, we got resources, we ought to try to get a few more kids in because of making more dynamic
