So, we're going to begin this evening with um our presentations, our board reports. Okay. We need to make
a mo a motion to adjust the agenda. We have our ROC here to present colors. So, may I have a motion and a second to adjust the agenda so that we can add our ROC to the agenda? >> It's the agenda. >> So, can you all please rise with me as we accept colors? to the flag of the United States of America. and to the republic for it stands. [applause] These young ladies, these young ladies as you see in our color guard are our future leaders [music] um in our communities, in our military. So, they should be applauded especially when they
get to do this work in front of our staff. Uh moving right along. Okay. Yes. >> Um, now as we before we go into presentations, I need another motion and a second to [music] add the student representatives to the board. They have a report that they'd like to give and I need to add them. I have a motion. >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? I. Thank you. So, I'll make my comments quick. Good evening, everyone. Uh, tonight's agenda, as I summarize it, reflects our shared commitment to student achievement, safe and supportive schools, engaged families, and strong fiscal stewardship. I want to take a moment to highlight a few of these items and [music] extend our gratitude where it's due tonight. First and foremost, we are adopting a memorial resolution to honor and remember
Mr. Carlos Viss, [music] the technology teacher at Kindergarten Success Academy and former student of Abraham Clark High School here in the Rosa public schools who suddenly passed away last month. On behalf of the board of education, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, his colleagues, and his students. We have um a res we have a resolution where we'll be extending to the families tonight. So that part will be second. Furthermore, on tonight's agenda, we're also going to adopt and acknowledge our NJDOE compliance for the 2025 2026 school year for emergency virtual and remote instruction in case [music] that there's in case there's of an emergency to ensure continuity uh should we need a closure. Also on this agenda under presentations, the director of special services, Miss Patrice Coleman, will present the dynamic learning maps
for 2024 2025 results. It's a critical look at how we're serving our students receiving special education services [music] and where we can continue to improve instruction and supports in this area. On behalf of the board of education, I want to celebrate Miss Claudia Anderson on her retirement after 15 years as a professional [music] at KSA. I want to wish you all the best on your new journey and [music] thank you for your dedicated service to Rosel's children. Also, congratulations are in order um for our [music] perfect attendance recipients tonight for the 2024 2025 school year. This is a shining example of the reliability and dedication that directly supports [music] our student success. So, thank you. Finally, on the agenda, things that really resonate with me and many who are veterans, [music] we have a Veterans
Day resolution. And we're also going to be recognizing American Education Week, November 17th through the 21st. [music] It's a moment to uplift educators, staff, and families and community partners who power our schools every day. [clears throat] Some upcoming uh community and family engagement opportunities. Please mark your calendars. There will be a district health fair [music] this week at ACS on Wednesday, October 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 [music] p.m. and also a family resource night at ACS on Wednesday, November 12th from 5:30 to 8:00. These are also tangible examples of how we're endeavoring to connect with families [music] and connect the our families to resources while keeping wellness front and center. And lastly, I would just like to thank everyone in advance for engaging [music] respectfully during public comment. Your input truly shapes our work. And
final reminders, the next regular monthly board meeting is Thursday, November 20th at 6 PM. There will be no workshops meetings in November and December. In closing, [music] thank you to our students for your efforts during your NJSLA testing, to our families for your partnership, to our staff for your unwavering commitment, and to our community for believing in Rosel Public Schools. Together, we are advancing the district goals of academic achievement, and well-being, community and family engagement, and fiscal and operational management with the sole purpose of moving towards our vision 2027 goals and results. Thank you. [music] That ends my report. Dr. Fischer. >> Good evening everyone. Uh let me just uh first of all just welcome everyone to our monthly uh board meeting. [music] Uh especially to my my board commissioners and all the families and
staff members who are present this [music] evening and all those wonderful folks who are watching us on our new uh YouTube channel. So, we want to welcome you to this October board meeting. Uh, certainly I I certainly can't believe that we've already hit the 36th day of the school year here of the 2526 school year. So, time surely is flying and lots of amazing work happening across all of our schools in the district. Uh, tonight uh typically is an opportunity for me as superintendent to really brag about the wonderful things that are happening across the district and all the classrooms in every school. Uh but we're going to continue to buckle up and and hear the wonderful things, amazing things that are happening uh at the schools. But before I do that, we will be
as as Dr. Washington mentioned uh adopting a resolution in uh memorial of Carlos [music] uh VZ and I certainly want to you know as I said last month uh to his family and fiance you know u you know I meet a lot of staff members across the district and certainly uh when I sent out a message to uh Carlos for his a happy birthday message which I typically don't get anyone to respond to but Carlos was uh so generous to respond and and and reply back and say uh thank you and it was a very proud moment for myself uh personally cuz I got a response for one and um then I had the pleasure of of seeing him at the school uh the same day that he responded and it just really touched it
was a you know sometimes things are just meant to be. So certainly I was very touched by that experience. So I just want to let you the [music] the family know that uh he appreciated the work he he put it in writing. A lot of times people just tell you but Carlos did put it in writing. Uh, with that being said, I just want to extend my condolences to the family and and and truly let you know that the Roosevelt School community uh is here for [music] you. So, as we move on, I do want to take this opportunity to we celebrated during the month of October uh which was principal appreciation month. And when you talk about principles, I often remind folks that's the space that I spent the [music] bulk of my career.
So, certainly uh principles aren't behind the desk individuals pushing paper all day. Uh they're on the front line. And so I often tell my uh uh upper administration and supervisors and directors and all those folks, I said, "You can't tell me something about a place that I live so long." So I want to commend uh my principles for doing the work. Uh often working through their lunch periods. They don't I don't think they have a designated lunch period, but certainly uh I want to commend those principles who who do the work. They they show up every day and accept the challenge. So I want to thank you again publicly. I do want to let you know this community know that we are working on what we call a portrait of the Rosel graduate and this
is just our continued effort to shift and transcend uh the the the expectations [music] of learning here in the school district and this is not just some fancy talk we talk about but we're shifting our thinking and we're transcending our expectations. So the big question here is what do we do we expect for our students to receive in order to be successful in life? uh it goes well beyond passing tests. Uh our job is to do whatever it takes to make sure that they're prepared for this beautiful everchanging world they're going to encounter. Uh we're excited to know that although we had our first session on October 1st, we have two additional sessions that'll be forthcoming and we want once again invite the entire community to be a part of that process so that we
continue to elevate [music] teaching and learning across the district throughout the month of October. I'm very excited that the school community got together and and held a district-wide second annual breast cancer and cancer walk at the Armenial Field. Uh was an opportunity to get the community all in one accord for a worthy cause. Uh schools rose they rose a they raised a lot of money. Uh certainly uh all the kids from the kindergarteners all the way up to the high school folks really made a difference by donating and certainly we appreciate those efforts across the board. All schools across the district uh has certainly been doing some great stuff. All seven schools, if I can take you to the KSA very quickly, they celebrated their unity walk. It's always great to see our five and
six year olds uh making the pledge to uh to do the right thing and and being kind to one another to stand up for bullying. Washington Elementary School students were very excited because they were engaged in getting their hands a little dirty uh getting inside the the steam machine and understanding their future is right in front of them. So, we're excite excited about that opportunity. I do want to also acknowledge publicly that Washington Elementary School also earned the s the silver level recognition award from the New Jersey safe routes program. Uh and that's a big deal because kids are walking to school and and bike safety is something that we want to uh promote across all our grades and certainly we uh want to acknowledge Washington Elementary School at Dr. Charles C. Poke School. Uh
they had their respect your culture celebration. Uh this was in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. students and staff dressed up in various clothing to celebrate their heritage and certainly was an opportunity to connect and really see that we are celebrating differences. Dr. Charles C. Poke is also excited that they're they [music] kicked off their student council. So again, just another opportunity to show there are great things happening across the district at [snorts] Harrison Elementary Schools. The students are continued working on their leadership development skills within their student uh council with their leadership teams. They're working collaboratively and they even I just had an opportunity to watch a a uh morning announcement that the students are producing using the podcast equipment for their very own school YouTube channel. So again, another opportunity to show that student
voice matters and Harrison Elementary School is proving that. Uh we go down to Elvie Moore uh middle school. It's important to know that they were celebrating just about everything over at LVmore. They were celebrating National Custodian Day. uh Mr. FTO their custodian they celebrated him because they wanted to make sure that uh he's preparing them for a beautiful tomorrow and certainly uh keeping the the school clean and and positive environment is something that they [music] were celebrating at their school and again they were also celebrated the unity day uh with a a dance routine that they all learned called the boots on the ground. So you can imagine what that looked like [snorts] at Grace Will Day Junior High School. Again, the energy is is high and heavy over at Grace Wheel Day. Uh they
wore their hats and putting a cap on bullying and they also wore their shades where they were blocking out bullying. So again, uh they are changing the culture all across the school. So very excited with that that junior high school team and I'm very excited that they also had an opportunity to participate in the portrait of a graduate initiative where they were interviewed by a facilitator which gave an opportunity for them to share their voices in this planning process. And I have to give them big ups for bringing the community in where they had their first event called football with the fellas. So certainly we're bringing the men in to engage in not only just an opportunity to connect but also just an opportunity to fellowship in a way that we're able to extend our
school community at grace day as they say one school one pride one roar uh certainly was evident during that that that day. I want to acknowledge ACS because again that they were certainly uh their the the Rams uh band has been doing their thing. They're they're high and heavy in these competitions. So they're coming in either first or second place in a number of categories and they also received what they call the overall spirit award and that simply means that >> [snorts] >> uh they were representing the school with a class. So again big ups to the uh Roselle Ram band. Uh also the high school team had an opportunity to participate in the portrait of a graduate initiative. They were offering some information to our facilitators highlighting the wonderful things and the voices and
concerns that they have as high schoolers here at ACS. And again, you may already know that the 2025 homecoming homecoming court uh has taken place. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the names of the king or queen, but certainly it was a an event that certainly celebrated Oh, Andrew the Andrew the King is here. Okay. Okay. Andrew the King. Uh, well, I think that I'm I'm I'm ecstatic over that because I have one of my student representatives who happens to be the king. Thank you, Andrew. The king is here. The king is here. >> He's a fourp. We better check those check check those numbers. Okay, four people. But congratulations to Andrew representing his school spirit. And again, um, I just want to let everyone know that we are celebrating lots of things across the district,
but I do want to point out the fact because I think this is a point to really emphasize. I have to commend our HR department uh in their efforts to ensure that we staff our classes across the district. At one particular point, we have uh um we have 31 international staff members who represent [music] uh countries across the globe from India, Kenya, Philippines, Egypt, and Jamaica. So, we're very excited to be able to be staffed by not only our US uh staff members, but also to be supplemented with support from our diff uh in our difficult content areas from our international staff members. I do want to give a big up to our [music] curriculum and instruction. Uh on Friday we had a uh professional development day where we had a menu choice day which
we offered approximately 26 sessions ranging from AI to research new teacher cohorts UDL and action and magic AI canvas goardian tinkercad portfolios and tai chi. So certainly teachers having a choice to identify uh professional development sessions that really met their needs. And on the facility side, I I just have to give a quick update. Uh we are uh wrapping up completion of our uh new preschool site which is which will be located at the First Presbyterian Church. The uh the site is going very well, very well. Very pleased what we're seeing over there. More information is forthcoming. very excited to know that we're going to be opening soon. Our Grace Wheel Day Junior High School esports room is is in the final phases of basically powering up the equipment. So certainly we're excited about that
and we certainly will have some form of ribbon cutting for that event and looking forward to the AC dance ACS dance studio uh which I believe will be opening up after the fall recess. So certainly we want to see those dancers uh express their artistic ability. And just to give a an update on our long range facility plan, we just submitted to the NJ DOE uh to the NJ DOE our long range facility plan amendment which really captured the updates that we're looking to do across the district. And of point of reference uh one of them being the uh the future of a new school in the district. So part of the process requires that we update our long range facility plan and we just got the approval back just last week. So we're excited
about that. And [snorts] also we had an opportunity to talk with organizations as we're creating uh financial and infrastructure infrastructure solutions for the entire Rosel public schools which simply means that we're looking to find addition additional savings across the district so we can deal with some of the uh capital projects that we need to address across the district. And certainly my list goes on and on. and I have mo a host of information, but I do want to just ask that you stay connected with us across the district because we are focusing on telling our story to this community. We're doing it each and every day and it's all about the Rosel community. So, we certainly want to thank the community for all that you do, but to continue to see what we do across
the district. I want to encourage you to follow us on all our social media platforms, including Facebook, [snorts] Instagram, and X. And you certainly can follow us on our YouTube channel. And we have uh this particular broadcast is being broadcast on the board uh channel, but we also have a highlight channel that we'll share out regularly. So again, I want to thank the board members here for taking the opportunity not only to serve on the board, but also for your continued professional growth attending last week's New Jersey School Boards Association's um conference. and I was, you know, I had a a a 100% turnout and that was something I was very excited about to have all nine board commissioners. So, thank you and give yourself a big round of applause because that is important [applause]
and and I will say for the public the the board members were at these sessions and they started questioning me from all the things that they learned. So, I knew it was a great opportunity and I just want to continue to ask that they uh partake in those types of experiences. That's how we challenge the system to do even greater work. With that being said, Madame President, that concludes the superintendent's report for the month of October 2025. >> Thank you, Dr. Fischer. Uh, can you before I continue, does anybody have any questions about anything [music] they just heard? >> Can you I'm going to take but I'm just [music] saying anything else about the report. Okay. Dr. Fischer, can you take us one more thing? >> Yes. Yes. There's so many things going on and
I'm so excited. I I did want to emphasize that um part of the superintendent's office of special programs and projects is actually working on their initiative uh because we are gearing up for this challenge of uh SNAP benefits [music] being cut. So we have prepared uh we're preparing a number of initiatives. We're working with some of our community partners to provide resources as well as a resource list for families who may have benefits that are impacted. So, we're certainly working with a number of local as well as countywide agencies to support our families and we're also working with our local um uh food service uh vendor here in the district to be able to support our families. So, we will be pushing out information. We are looking to make sure that we are proactive as
a as opposed to being reactive to this a forthcoming situation. Thank you. >> Thank you, Dr. Fischer. Can you take us through the harassment, intimidation, and bullying investigative report for October 2025 incident? >> Sure. Thank you. Oh, this mic. I like this mic. Okay. Okay. So, let me just say for the month of our harassment, intimidation, and bullying investigation report for reporting window number one. Uh, at the Kindergarten Success Academy, we had zero incidents that were reported or investigated. Harrison Elementary had zero incidents that were reported or investigated. Dr. Charles C. Poke had zero incidents that were reported or investigated. Washington Elementary School had zero incidents that were reported or investigated. Littermore Middle School had five incidents that were investigated. One of those instances were reported as being a HI. Four were reported as not
being HIPS. Grace Road had two incidents that were reported. Of those two incidents, two were confirmed as not being HIS. Abraham Clark had high school had one incident that was reported and investigated and one incident that was deemed as not being a HI. So for the month of October, we had a total of eight incidents that were investigated, one that was considered to be a HI and seven that were deemed as not being a HI case. That concludes the report on the October [music] 2025 um 2025 >> HI report. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And my staff just reminded me that I do have someone coming up to help me out with Hispanic Heritage Hitch Month uh presentation. So, I'm looking forward to that. That concludes my superintendent report. >> Okay. Thank you. Uh,
next we'll have uh, Miss Patrice Coleman come up and present to us the dynamic learning maps um, results. It's in the folder for all the board members on the stage. There's a folder in front of you. Can [music] you please refer to that? Miss Coleman, did you need us to come down or Okay, thank you. Good evening everyone. Board members, colleagues, community members. Thank you for coming out this evening. My name is Patrice Coleman and I'm going to present the 2425 dynamic learning maps results for this Rosel Public Schools. What is dynamic learning [music] maps? Dynam dynamic learning maps is an assessment technologybased assessment system designed for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities which assess what students know. Students with significant disabilities defined by the US Department of Education as defined by the US
Department of Education. Students with the most cognitive disabilities have a disability or multiple disabilities that especially affect intellectual functioning and adaptive behaviors. When adapt when adaptive behaviors are significantly affected, students are unlikely to develop the skills needed to live independently and to function daily in life once they reach adulthood. The DM alternate assessment is designed for students for whom general education assessments even with accommodations are not appropriate within the DLM. There are four performance levels. The first one is emerging. Students demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to apply content knowledge and skills represented by the essential elements. Approaching the target students have an having an understanding of and the ability to apply targeted content knowledge and skills represented by the essential elements. At target students have an understanding of an ability to apply content
knowledge and skills represented by the essential elements. Advanced students demonstrate advanced understanding and the ability to apply targeted knowledge and skills represented by the essential elements. The DLM ELA results for 2425 school year. 13 students were emerging, six students approaching target, two at target. The DLM math results for 2425, 13 students emerging, four approaching target, four at target, one student advanced. Some of the action steps that we have taken to date or we are going to take. Teachers unpacked essential elements and/or New Jersey student learning standards. Reviewed the DM website. Created plans for success or will create a plan for success. Conducted a baseline walkthrough in relation to UDL implementation. Department meetings for the year will focus on implementing UDL and one of the outcome of meeting with my colleagues of conducting a boot an
inclusion boot camp for our international teachers. Thank you. Any questions? I'm sorry. >> Any board members? Do you have any questions? >> Miss Chavez. >> Thank you, Miss Coleman, for the presentation. I had a few questions in regards to the DM. Um the main one would be did you was there any um difficulties any technology difficulties when taking this test that you had encountered >> as it relates to infrastructure? Yes. >> No, we did not. >> No. Okay. And then in terms of the classrooms that took the test, I'm thinking it's LB from LB all the way up or just the high school. So, no, we have students at LV, Grace Will Day, Dr. Charles C. Poke, um, and Abraham Clark High School. Okay. No Washington or Harrison at [music] the moment. Okay. And, um,
when you mention about I'm seeing the um the U, um, UDL implementation, that's something that we rolled out last year. >> Yes. Right. So we started it last year and I'm continuing this year. So we have an actual UDL coach that comes in that does focus walks to help support and they use the baseline data to support the department meetings throughout the year. >> Okay. So we have to continue to to work on that in order for us to meet standards. Okay. Um and comparing this data to last year, I'm seeing more on the I guess emerging side compared to last year. Correct. Okay. I wasn't wrong. >> And we've had more students transition through the grade band. So that's why I believe we have more students in the [music] emerging emerging side. >> Emerging
side. Okay, perfect. Well, thank you cuz I do see the progress. I was looking at last year's report compared to this year and I do see that it's trending up well. >> Thank you, Miss Coleman. Appreciate it. >> Thank you. Any more questions? >> Just a comment. >> Um, >> we're definitely seeing some improvement in these numbers year-over-year. And this is also I want to thank the board for um and Dr. Fischer for authorizing the special services audit because a lot of these things that we're doing now were uncovered in our special services audit. So thank you Miss Coleman for working through those those items. Soon as you got here you hit the ground running. So we [music] just want to say thank you to you and your department for that. Uh thank you to
the board for being um diligent in ensuring that we look at all these things and thank you to the superintendent [music] for going that line with us because we did the special services audit and the strategic plan in parallel. So thank you. >> Thank you everyone. >> Thank you. >> So now we will have a report read by our student representatives to the board, Andrew Emmy and Daniel Ferryy. Who's going first? Andrew, thank you. >> Good evening everybody. [clears throat] >> As regards to the testing updates this month of October, the seniors have retook some seniors have retook the NJGPA and last week we just finished our SAT and the other students took the PSAT and the NJSLA. Testing has been a little challenging due to technology issues with Chromebooks. Many students last week were
unable to sign in because their devices needed updates. With the introduction of the new state adaptive exams, testing is expected to take even longer. We hope the process will continue to improve so our teachers can teach. We are excited to announce the opening of the Abraham Clark High School store which will offer RAM dollars, uniform t-shirts, water, and possibly snacks. This is particularly helpful for students with long days, such as those with seven period lunches. The launch was delayed due to the testing schedules and infrastructure trials, but we are eager to move forward. Homecoming was a huge success. We celebrated the homecoming court including our kings and queens which was the highlight of the event. Additionally, class representatives for president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer has been elected. The student council has been fully selected
and we are now awaiting details regarding the new board representatives joining the process after we leave. >> Good evening everyone. So, concerning the academic support for student athletes, following the first interim reports, student athletes who needed academic support were placed on contracts. Our athletic tutor, Dr. Hartzfield, along with the student honor society and several math teachers are working closely with these students. Our afterchool and before the bell tutoring are being put in place after this meeting to start to further help students with their academics. In regards to college and career events, recently we've participated in a college and career event that introduced many of the [music] students to universities, colleges, and trade schools. This event was valuable for students who were preparing for their post-secary path. In addition, several out of school visits have been
conducted such as the Morgan State University trip and the Lincoln Tech trip and representatives from various colleges and universities continue to come to Abraham Clark High School to meet with the students either virtually and in person in the college and career center. Um, the last announcement we have for tonight is that in Abraham Clark High School, classrooms 131 and 133 have been under construction for quite some time now. They will be ready for instruction following our winter I mean our fall rather our fall break on the 10th of November. That's all. >> Thank you. [applause] >> Thank you. Uh seeing as there's no more reports, may I have a motion and a second [music] to accept and approve governance items, executive session and presentations as presented. I'd like to make that motion. >> Second. >>
Any discussion on anything that [music] was presented? shift. Okay, we're transcendent. All right, there we go. Yes, I do have a question. Um, and uh it's for the students, rep, you mentioned the academic support for the student athletes, [music] right? Um, and that's something that just came up after the marking period. >> Okay. And um the contracts that have been put in place or does contracts does that include like the parent signature as well or just the student signature? >> Teachers teachers. >> Okay. Thank you. That's all. Thank you. Any further questions? Seeing as there's no [music] further questions, may I have a roll call, please? >> Miss Tarnage? >> Yes. Miss Cortez, >> yes. >> Dr. Atkins, >> yes. >> Miss Bond, >> yes. >> Mrs. Chavez, >> yes. >> Miss Santos, >> yes.
>> Miss Woody, >> yes. >> Dr. Washington, >> yes. >> Motion carries. >> Thank you. Now comes the section of the meeting for public comment as mandated by this board's policies. So, I was here two sessions ago. I came to you with a [music] sad story about my classroom. I didn't have shades. It was difficult to teach for many, many years. All the principles did what they could. We went through the proper channels. Still nothing. I brought it to you. I explained my situation, my unhappiness, my unsafe situation. Third day of school, someone came to measure my windows. Sixth day of school, brand new shades in my classroom. I am grateful
and appreciative and smiling more than you can imagine before because I can teach and my students can learn. And I just want to thank you that when you say we support you, you do mean it. and we just need to come to you. So with that, thank you very much. And I even had visitors come into my room to check those shades. So thank you for coming to look because it is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for everything. I really am very happy and feeling very safe as well. Thank you. Thank you, Miss Golib. [applause] >> Are there any other comments? Wilma Davis 1265 Crescent. So, the reason I'm here today, I've been um told my son goes to Grace Wde and I was told that he was going to have a math teacher
back in September. Then in October, I check in and he still does not have a math teacher. Uh we're going into November. He's in the eighth grade and this is a critical time where they need to test [music] for to get into different high schools. So I need to find out uh I understand that there were teachers that are coming from out of the country but and I haven't gotten any feedback. I reached out to the principal. I haven't heard anything. So that's one of the things that if someone could please let me know what's happening with the two math teachers. This is a critical time for all of our kids. The other thing is I know the state of New Jersey um well the district is adopting the cell phone policy and I understand
that the state of New Jersey is giving a grant. So I am bringing that to you guys to make sure that you guys apply for that so we could get at least some money in the district. But if someone could please let me know about the math teacher, >> please. Thank you. Any further comments? >> Hello, my name is Gabriella Corno and I'm an HCS student. Miss Harry asked me if I would read the board a poem that I wrote for Hispanic Heritage Month. It's also going to be presented at an assembly on Friday here at HCHS. So, may I present it? >> Yes. What does it mean to be Hispanic? What does it mean to be Latina or Latino? The thought of us being here drives some people manic, but we love this country
like they do, though. Is it a thing you fill off the neverending race forms? Does it make you want to put your head down when you hear sirens? Does it make you wish your skin fit the norm? What do we feel when we are called tyrants, illegal, meant to feel ashamed? But my brothers and sisters, we are strong and we are brave. We do not need to feel disgraced cuz between you and me, I love my race. And I don't ever want to leave this place. I'm Ecuadorian, first generation dual citizen. And I know my people cherish this gift we've been given. This gift of freedom, land of hopes and dreams, where if you work hard enough, then you can have the means to soar forever more in pure perfect bliss. Then why doesn't our
future reflect this? Why are we treated like cogs in a machine meant to slaughter? And the American dream costs an arm, leg, and daughter. I mean, what? Seriously, is this the future for you and for me? If there's one thing I know to be true, is that I believe in all of you, there is a spark reaching for something more. And when we are mistreated, we will break down that door. The fire of our hopes and dreams is what inspires us to succeed, to achieve, and believe that we are so much more than any wage or label they could ever give us. What does it mean to be Hispanic? I honestly can't say. I just know I love my people in every single way. Thank you. [applause] >> [applause] [applause] >> Thank you, Gabriella, for
a beautiful poem. Dr. Fischer, do you want us to join you down there? >> No, we got it. We're still in public. >> Oh, I'm sorry. We're still in public comment. >> Are there any other public comments? >> Good evening board members. Good evening, Dr. Fischer. My name is Alexander Tangarif. I'm the mother of Solar Bomero. She is a student over at KSA. And I'm here today because I'm going to be mentioning two critical concerns that are integral. One is the deficiency in staffing and school protocol within KSA, but also the IEP execution [music] for my child. On September 30th, I drop off my daughter at KSA after the school start time at 8:34. [music] As we know, a neurode divergent child is never on time. We're always running. We're always trying to figure out
how to maneuver and navigate through triggers. [music] And also, she has another sister that's in Harrison, even more crazy. the morning. That being said, um upon entering the school, we understand that there's always going to be a wait time for appropriate staff in order to come downstairs. But this day was really interesting. After 10 minutes of waiting, we found out there probably wasn't anyone coming downstairs. And a security guard had offered my daughter during this emotionally disregulated time while she's throwing herself on the floor and she's grabbing badges a janitor to bring her upstairs to Miss Class. That being said, I don't know, and I beckon the same question as I did to Principal Gonzalez 20 days after she decided to respond to my email regarding this matter. Is a janitor appropriate school personnel to
be handling a child with an IEP and transferring them to a classroom? I'm sure we already know what the answer that is. Later on on October 20th, another same scenario. I'm dropping off my daughter definitely [music] after 8:34 because obviously things get crazy again. And this time we don't have a janitor, but we have an unidentified male bringing my daughter upstairs. He has no school ID. There's nothing. And so it beckons the same question again. How can I trust my daughter to come upstairs with an individual that has no appropriate school ID? Ironically, I received correspondence from Miss Lauren Gonzalez that day in regards to memorializing this event, but more importantly, apologies regarding her lack of solveny and letting me know that day that officially all staff will be wearing ID, but moreover, no janitors
should be actually transferring 5-year-olds to their classrooms. I wanted to highlight this moment because I believe it is showing a disparity within the school staffing that's happening [music] at KSA, but moreover how it's affecting the kids, but more importantly the parents that are trusting you to take care of those [music] kids. Lastly, moving over to the IEP, my daughter is intended to have twice a week PT, OT, ST. She [music] is on the severe end of the spectrum. My little Sula does not get that. In fact, counting the amount of times that she gets it, she was supposed to get weekly reports since the beginning of the school year. After an email on September 8th, no response. September 22nd, no response. September 30th, no response. And in fact, September 26th, her case manager, Jamie Hounder,
thought it was a wise time to actually show herself present that there is a case manager, but yet no response, no rapport. And it wasn't until the after the week of October 1st we get a retroactive report from September 21st that revealed that my daughter since then because I've been receiving it thankfully since that moment. My speech uh her speech therapist has only done services four times since September 21st. OT has only come six times and PT has only come six times. I think we know math and it's 5 weeks times two [music] that's 10. the numbers aren't adding up. And so, as a parent who's really concerned and also [music] a university professor, I'm not I'm fully aware of the system. I'm [music] fully aware as an original eighth grade teacher of two years
as well. I know how things work. I just kindly asked for a response on this. Thank you. Can you please give your information to Miss Qua, please? Your name and your contact information. Thank you. Are there any other comments for public comment? It is 7:54. I'd like to close public comment. Board members, can you please join me? Do you want us to join you down there? Is we're at that time? Board members, can you please join us down front for the awards and presentation section of this meeting? Can you do yours? When we come back, she go look. Okay. Good evening everyone. Okay, great. So, at this time, we're going to take this moment to uh acknowledge our perfect attendance awards for the 2425 school year. I want to take an opportunity to uh thank
those individuals who are being acknowledged this evening. Uh certainly uh you know uh coming to work every day uh takes resilience and certainly you have a choice at times to use the various days that are available to you for a number of reasons. But again, you have chosen to uh exercise the perfect attendance uh process. And we thank you. We thank you. We thank you. Uh at this time, I want Washington Elementary School. [music] Let's see. Do we have uh Miss Diosis? Come on down. Come on down. Come on. Give a give a round of applause. Yes. Yes. [applause] Congratulations to you. Thank you. You coming to work tomorrow? >> Okay, great. Thank you. Thank you. Congratulations, G. We'll just have you stand up here with us. Okay. Congratulations. We have um Mr. Espazito. Mr.
Espazito, are you here this evening? He's absent. Okay. Okay. Uh Dr. Delos Rez [applause] all this time we were calling you Dr. James. All right. Welcome. [laughter] Congratulations to you. Uh Mr. Williams. Mr. Williams, are you here to see from Grace Wday? Mr. Williams, come on down with the suit jacket. Come on. Looking for congratulations here, Mr. Williams. Mr. Mr. Dmer, Mr. Dmer, are you here this evening? Mr. Dmer, >> Mr. Malati, Mr. Manati, are you here? Okay. And where's Dr. Washington? Dr. Okay, come on over. She has one more name to acknowledge. Dr. Nathan Fischer, are you here? [applause] >> Thank you. Thank you. >> So, I I wanted to say this uh I just want to say this for those folks who who do uh who who come to work and you know,
I know certainly there are times when you just need to take a day. So, I'm not, you know, uh, saying anything negative about that, but certainly, uh, forging ahead for our kids is so important. You know, showing up, and I think that's what we all do collectively, even if we take one day off, it's certainly, uh, much needed for mental health and a lot of other reasons. But, [music] thank you for coming and making a commitment to this community. Uh, as I told my mother that I would be acknowledged for a perfect attendance, she says, "Yeah, cuz I made sure when you were in prek, kindergarten, first grade, that you were going to school because you weren't staying around here." So, I I I I think it just kind of instills that work effort. So,
congratulations to you, uh, board members. We certainly want to give applause to these individuals because, again, they matter. Thank you. [applause] Oh yeah, squeak is in here. Good. Hold on. Hold on. Congratulations to you. All right. >> Thank you. Give yourself a big round of applause. Yes. [applause] Yes. Yes. >> Okay. Yeah. At this time, I want to take an opportunity to ask our board uh president if she could read the memorial resolution. >> Yes, I will read the memorial resolution. The Rosal Board of Education, Rosel, New Jersey memorial resolution. Whereas the Rosel Board of Education recognizes that each staff of the district is important not only to the school district but to the community at large and the loss of any [music] staff of the district by death is a loss that the board
and the district share with the community. And whereas Mr. Carlos Viz was a technology teacher at Kindergarten Success Academy whereas Mr. Carlos Viz passed away [music] on Sunday, September 21st, 2025. And Roso Public Schools students, [music] staff, administrators, and board members alike are deeply saddened by his passing and will always remember him. Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Rosal Board of Education pause this evening to remember Mr. Vles and [music] express sincere sympathy to his family. And be it further resolved that this resolution hereby becomes a part of the official minutes of the Rosel Board of Education [music] and a copy forwarded to the family of Mr. Carlos Belies. Are they here? [applause] >> Yeah, I was going to do that. At at this time, I'm just going to ask that everyone present, if
you could join us by standing for a moment of silence in honor of Mr. Ves uh so that we could show our support family during their time of grieving. And I just want to let his fiance know that thank you. We certainly thank you for sharing Carlos with us and uh if we could be of any assess the entire KSA community is here to support you as well as the Rosell public school.
