My name is Soya. I'm an incoming junior and I am 16. That's

it. And uh I would also like to recognize madame president members of the board of parents of our student leaders who are here to support um our uh leaders for the next starting today and until next year election. So thank you very much for coming and I know some of them will have to catch the bus. So again uh I'd like to present to you our new student council next year. Please at this time, Madame President, um I would like to present to you our end of the year report from our um auditor uh from Engle and Lambders, Mr. Farley. Mr. Farley, are you able to join? >> I I am here. And uh I'll just get the uh I'm going to go ahead and presentation on the screen. All right. Um I'll go ahead

and quickly uh present the uh audit results. And this is a public pres presentation so it's fairly brief and uh but I'll walk us through the pages here. So this is for the 2025 audit has been released from the state auditor's office and uh is on the OSA's website and uh trying to just get used to the uh presentation here to move the pages forward. Let's see. Having a little hard time with that. Okay, there we go. Let me see. Okay. All right. Uh let me know if you have any technical difficulties. Sorry about that. But uh just uh going through the uh engagement team um the uh Mlen Enriquez was the manager in charge of the audit. I was the partner in charge and and we staffed the audit with uh uh Francis and

Karina as you see there. >> Uh just to summarize what work we do as auditors, we give an opinion on the financial statements. Uh we also give an opinion on what's called the single audit. That's the major federal programs uh that are uh part of the school district. And involved in those opinions, we evaluate the accounting policies uh estimates and the overall presentation of the financials and disclosures. Then we also perform what's called nonattest or non audit work and that is uh putting together the financial statements drafting putting with it means we we put together the financials and the note disclosures um that's a part of the opinion and in addition we there's some lease calculations that need to be uh put together so we perform that work as Well, um, and that's very common

for auditors to do both that audit work and this non audit, not a test work. But we just emphasize the safeguards need to be in place and that means that management remains responsible for the financials and uh, management oversees our non- audit work. So just review the report and the calculations we put together, what the audit does do and what it does not do. So um our job is to give the opinions uh are the financials materially correct in other words the numbers are are mutually correct or accurate. Um what we don't do is uh what we're not part of the internal control right we're independent and we're not giving an opinion on the internal controls. So we evaluate internal controls and if we had did identify some weaknesses we would uh write findings but

we're not sampling at such a level that we're giving an opinion on internal controls and then just moving through some key communications we just talk about um in our opinion we believe the audit report is in compliance and it meets the requirements under GAP and Gazsby, those accounting standards. Um, in other words, that the financials are appropriate, transparent, and and consistent with those rules. Adjusting journal entries, we had two adjustments that we uh proposed to management. We had quite a few nonattest adjustments. So in other words, we knew going into the audit that we were going to make those 54 adjustments. Um so uh certain certain cash to acrruel adjustments um are required because the presentation for the audit reports different than the uh internal presentation. No other issues really, difficulties or uh disagreements with

management, nothing like that. The highlight this year was there were some new accounting rules that were implemented. That was Gatsby 101 and Gatsby 102. That's uh a new methodology for compensated absences. And uh another one 102 which uh is is um disclosing any kind of risk certain risks that were not applicable in this case this year. It's very rare that would be applicable. So uh the results so the two opinions they're both unmodified which means clean opinions. We believe the the uh numbers are materially correct and that the federal that the school district is in compliance with the federal awards uh that they spend. The major federal program audit was the impact aid uh from department education grant and uh findings to report. There was a finding related to the procurement code. Uh there was

no federal findings and there was also there was one state audit rule finding. Well that's it just hit both areas. So that procurement code finding it uh hit both areas of financial statements as well as the procurement code. Uh next year there will be some new accounting or gazsby standards. um the way the report uh will be presented there'll be some changes in the model and then compensated or capital assets there'll be uh a little bit uh not not really impactful changes but possibly some changes in the way the capital assets are presented. There's some uh background on these standards which u they're just there for summary and for review if if there's some interest but I won't go through those today. and then I'll just move on to uh stop for any questions or

discussion. >> Mr. Veneer, uh just to uh just to confirm again for for school or fiscal year 25 uh JBPS as an unmodified audit finding >> uh yes, it's an un unmodified opinion for the financial statement. and also an unmodified or clean opinion for the uh federal compliance. >> Perfect. Thank you. Madame President finding so very uh uh Madame President question. >> Thank you so much Mr. Farley for joining us. Bye-bye. >> Um and and then Madame President, members of the board, we have our um third but not the last uh uh guest this evening. And um they are our partner, our banking partner, and they wanted to partner with us for our uh community and for our stakeholders. And but I did not realize they're coming in with something else. So I'd like them

to uh introduce themselves. uh exciting of course with Miss Melanie and um what they have uh to offer for us. >> Yes. Well, thank you very much for allowing us to attend your board meeting this evening. We recognize the amazing work that you're doing within your school community and as partners to help promote and work with education. It's such a vital uh part of what we need to be giving back to our communities. you do such a thankless job and you work with students and it was a great privilege to sit here and watch your new elected young adults step into their positions for the next school year. And it's initiatives like that that really energize us on the business side to make sure that we're collaborating and rolling up our sleeves. And so on

behalf of UNMB Bank Charitable Foundation with our team from UNMB Bank, we'd like to uh continue to hopefully expand for those um initiatives, but we like to grant $15,000 um to school. >> We have our various partners here. Uh we have Ryan introduce yourself. >> Hi, I'm Jonathan Williams from the Private Wealth Group. Yeah, I'm Shannon Johnson. I'm from our Kansas City office. Yeah. >> So, we know these dollars will absolutely go to great work for all the work that you're doing your students and just talking again hearing about the tremendous work at increase of scores with reading um and some of the impacts and getting ready for some of your summer programs to encourage some of that literacy. Um it's still needed for our students in New Mexico. So, congratulations for the work that

you get your students. want to get to you. Thank you. >> Thank you. and we promise that it will be for the benefit of the community. So we will be embarking on a community convening uh to uh review our strategic plan and set a new vision again for next year. So it's going to be used for our stakeholders. questions. >> So, President, members of the board, as I was just saying, um, we were just told, okay, well, we they wanted to partner with us. We already partner with them. We bank with them, but we wanted to uh partner more with us uh in in the education, financial literacy or whatever. And they said, "But we also wanted to uh make it, you know, more tangible for you." And said, "You can do whatever you like

with this." I said, "Oh, no. It would make sense because we're going to do a convening uh to and also for our alumni coming in back and convening the the nine different communities, professional development for our teachers, wellness for our students. So this is just an additional addition that will directly be felt by our uh I mean the students are definitely uh benefiting directly from all the finance uh operations and grants and everything but we also would like to invest on our stakeholders engagement parent engagement stakeholders engagement and of course our um uh professional development for our staff members. Dr. >> um I know she thanked us as a board but I think we would be foolish not to recognize the team behind all of that and so thank you to the staff and um

Dr. Kamada and your team and leadership. So I want to >> and they uh they declare with rules. So if I have to you know if I ask how many times I have to go to the bank and also panic because of the rule that we have to a cash we have to deposit we have to make sure so so with that madame president just in addition um I know the school year is about to end graduation is going to be next Friday um I'm happy to report that all the students that were uh uh that were expected to graduate by next week as of yesterday are all going to be able to graduate the academic look. So this making sure that they come in uh making sure that they complete the work and so

they are as of yesterday uh everybody would be considered academically uh complete. Now of course we are making sure that we still count them as present for for their attendance to make sure that they qualify under the uh attendance success act. Uh uh this week they are doing community service. They are also coming to school. Uh this Thursday they are going to have their senior parade throughout the district and then next week they will be decorating and uh they will be doing their practices and uh we will be ready. Our uh gym is ready. Uh decorations will be ready and all the students are healthy. So uh we have all the preparations ready for next Friday evening. Um all our testing has already been completed this week is final test for the uh for the

high school. Uh there's just some uh makeup. Uh one particular student will have to have their makeup this Friday. So we will be here to make sure that they're able to do the makeup. um the elementary the middle school and high school has completed all the required state testing and especially for the high school the the elementary and the middle school NMSSA will take a little bit of time. Now as far as the SAT this is not yet it's already in the website but I'm very happy to report that we have two students in our junior class that actually got more than 1,000 composite scores in their SA SAT scores. Now last year we only have one student uh meet or exceeded proficiency in English and none in math. This year we have five student

and this is very draft. This is very draft. We have five students who meet an exceeded expectation meaning that they have um in reading that means that they have a scored higher than 430 480 and we have about two students that uh meet and exceeded and we also have more students that are approaching. So uh I know that I have to make some changes because the year prior last school year we have seven and that was when uh we lost our English teacher in the middle of the year and we have to have a sava I had and everything we had seven who meet exceed who meet and exceeded proficiency last year uh we only had one. So I think that was not acceptable and so um we made some changes this year. we have

an SAT prep for them throughout the year and um we are still going to work to make sure that the students continue to show proficiency. I am going to analyze how much closer when I did the audit today I just received a report yesterday there's just like 10 20 before they make the the proficiency there's like approaching skills but that means that it it tells us that um if we will be more purposeful and really be uh uh strategic in preparing them uh they would be college ready but uh on top of that our students in the high school will also be complete ing this school year with a lot of uh with CTE. We will we will already have next year we will already have our capstone CTE that means these are students who

had been taking CTE in the same pathway for three years. So uh and we will be also expanding our work based learning our um P2C uh this is the report from Mr. middle P2C successfully observed and through TED and our junior and senior prom uh was very successful led by Mr. Roof Rosano our junior sponsor and that was last April 18. Uh Miss Low was awarded the grant from the youth and government organization for next school year which we which we she plans to use with our government and economics class. uh last uh April during the Earth Day, the previous set of officers led a schoolwide cleanup campaign. So, I was not able to put together the pictures. I know there were pictures taken, but they were uh doing a cleanup from the high school

all the way to the gym. And now we have a new set of officers and we will be coming up also with a project for the next year. Um, oh, and Earth Day was led by student council, uh, led by the, uh, grade 12 student Ken Dehan, and were awarded a grant from the Department of Transportation because it was a, it was a cleanup drive in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Transportation. So, they actually got an award. Okay. So um NMA track we have um three of our students who qualifies for the state championship or rather Ayana Chinana disccastro uh she qualified for state and actually was placed 10th in the state championship for shakut eighth place in the in the state championship. Twins Chavez for 1600 meter dust fifth place in the

state championship. Um the banquet for the athletic program both for the elementary, middle school and high school has already been has also been completed and uh we are expect we are expecting uh the grade for next year uh for next week uh for our uh it before before the end of July the Steve Steve Gopin complex will already be fitted with its own camera system. >> So our IT department is working on that. We have just completed refitting our middle school entrance to be fully operational. We are now just waiting for the um integration of the technology so that we would already start being able to uh to uh control that. Uh the middle school just like now with the elementary if any untowards incident or any persons who might who might who does not

wish good to any of our student and staff even if they entered we would be able to prevent them from fully entering to the main building. So we can keep them there just like in the elementary we now have that security buffer there. So that's what we are uh uh putting in place and that means that by the end of the summer program we are planning to um pilot it during the summer program and it will be fully operational when the new school year starts uh next year and uh I stand for question madame president. >> Questions questions. Thank you. Thank you Dr. Kamala. Um so as Dr. said we're starting to get all of our end of your data in all of our assessments or dozens at the elementary ed middle school. In fact

we finished our last got test at the middle school this morning. Um, which means I was able to get a sneak peek at the middle school data and it was really good. It's not in this report, but it will be in the next one. I was very excited to see it. But I do have some elementary to share with you. Not everything in class. We won't get massive for a while, but we do have, which is a pretty good predictor of what the kiddos will score on NASA. And then we also have our last month of a mira. So the first thing I have for you here is um our full year's work from the bone area. This is their monthly reading assessment that they do every month that helps us to be able to

track their foundational literacy skills. Um so that fine bar there that you see that blue bar that is their average growth per grade level um from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. So, as you can see just by that quick visual, we've had a great growth across all of our grade levels, um, including our spotted ELF students. So, very excited to see that. After that, I'm going to give you a little bit of a breakdown of our IMAS scores. So, this is what we take beginning of year, middle of year, and end of year. And then end of year scores tend to correlate pretty closely to what we'll see on NASA, which is what puts us in CSI status for next school year. Um, so the first thing I kind

of analyze a little bit for you all here is our reading growth comparison this year to how we scored last year. Um, so what was really interesting and very exciting to see on that is our choice comparison for read specifically. Last year we had 21 students that had above expected growth. So what that means is they made more than a year's worth of growth, which is what we want to see when we know our kiddos are more than a year behind grade level. Um so 21% did last year. This year that jumped all the way to 71% of our students. So really to see um another one that had a really great jump in their above expected growth was uh fifth grade also went from 45% expected to 50%. Um and then it continues to

show you in the graphs I won't go through all of it but it continues to show you in the graphs how much better the year than last. Um the graph it also shows you mathematics. we didn't have as big of a growth um increase in mathematics but we know that's an area we're part of the next year part of the service and the results show that is great um and then the next page I gave you the the raw data for the percentage of students that were considered proficient so that's what we want to see of course is our students proficient we know we need to make more than a year's worth of growth in most of our grade levels to get there so the other thing I looked at was how do we compare

to this year's. So, our third grade students about the same as they were last year in terms of percentage of students on grade level for reading, but our fourth grade had a huge percentage show up. We had 33% on target last year. This year, we had 50 groups. So, that's 20% more students in fourth grade. And then in fifth grade, this one doubled. We had 25% of our students last year. this year went up to 50% of our students reading on grade level. So really really exciting. Um we saw growth as well in language proficiency and again not as much in implant but we saw a little bit. Fourth grade had 8% more proficient they did last year. So all positive science there. Um I gave you a little bit more of a breakdown as

well of you know how much we won up in each area and then a little bit about attendance. So to end the year, our overall daily attendance rate for the elementary school was sitting at 90%. Which is what we want to see. 95 would be fantastic, but at least 90% is great. So we had an improvement there as well. Um we had our final perfect attendance party last week. 56 students were treated to a cotton candy party. So that was very exciting. Ultimate Warrior took place last week as well. We had 65 students that were eligible for that in our elementary school. So those are kids that had no behavior referrals um were less than 10% of this semester and then also um had uh positive growth and assignments in class. They're still lower GPA.

So we go by um we also added another staff member to the elementary in the last week. Miss Rosal Silva is a K through 8th grade level two licensed teacher that was able to join us just in time to start some of our professional development to get ready for next year. And we also very surprisingly added three new students to the elementary campus in the last two weeks. So we have a new student in third and second grade. So that's great. Uh we had our prek promotion on May 14th. a very great success. All of our prek kiddos were treated to a Super Mario themed extravaganza. Um we also held our fifth grade transition day. That was a really exciting event. So on May 4th, we had all of our fifth graders alongside 25 students

from Hannah's day school that came over and were able to tour the middle school campus. Um Mr. Lee and many of our staff members treated them to a little bit of a preview of what we had to offer here in Valley. um and they left very excited. So we hope many of them will come to join us. >> I was told 12 students will be enrolling next year. >> Very cool. >> And then looking ahead for our last weekend and a half, we also have our kinder promotion, our fifth grade promotion, and then tomorrow will be elementary field day. So elementary has been very busy. Middle school as well. I can give you a little bit of attendance analysis there. Um, we were varied in the middle school in terms of our attendance rate. Sixth

grade was below the 90 percentile we were looking for. So that they were at 88.4 88.84% attendance rate. Seventh grade was a little higher at 93 and then eighth grade was at about 89. Um, so still working on attendance in the middle school. We also had one new student join us in 8th grade in the last few weeks in the middle school. So exciting. >> Um they also has they went on a field trip um to the Vice Caldera on May 6th and they actually just got back field trip today at eighth graders as well. Um some petetroglyphs. They also had a transition day. So our eighth graders were able to tour the high school on May 13th um to prepare for moving over to the high school campus very very soon. And then we

have our eighth grade promotion coming up as well as middle school field day. Um, and their ultimate warrior will take place on the last day of school. And middle school's going to be visiting the zoo, aquarium, and botanical gardens. And then I just gave you a little bit of combined updates of things we've had lately. In the past month, we had Wathon, which was um a really great community engagement. I had so many parents come up to me and say how much they enjoyed it and several that said we should do it every quarter. So it was very wellreceived. Um we also held a great staff appreciation. We had um catered food stations for the staff and daily giveaways. And then finally um we completed some professional development as I mentioned to get ready for

next school year from success for all. So, we have all of the staff that um are assisting with the elementary campus as well as some of the middle school campus. So, they're also aware, trained in some of the basics of what success for all is, which is a schoolwide transformation um framework that we're going to be using next year that kind of gets all of us aligned on behavior expectations um as well as you know cooperative learning and the main focus is really that reading and literacy. So preparing and then um I'm just looking at this data right now madame president and waiting for the state assessment data start of our strategic plan we've indicated that we should be looking at um 10 uh points growth from year to year. So uh for our reading

we're meeting it but it's not that much gross little back pocket. So next year uh we have been strategic in our investment this year with our reading, bringing in literacy coach, bringing in HQIM uh uh strategically creating a a schedule which will be continued again next year. But that means we are going to not uh not shift our focus but rather bring in the investment to improve our math uh our math proficiency. Now as far as this is uh English language or rather this is reading data um as of um yesterday I've received the data for our ELLL population which is um those that have identified themselves as ELLL which we know that we are 85% Native American uh although we only have identified 55 students >> as ELLL so uh in order to be

identified as ELLL we send out a survey and if a parent first they have to answer uh is there any language spoken at home but then after that we have to ask or there's another question so uh and then we test all students that are considered ELLL but then families can opt out if they don't want ELLL service but that was one of the primary reason that our elementary was put on CSI uh we're not meeting proficiency in reading math and science but also we are not making proficiency in our subgroup special education ELLL Native American and economically disadvantaged throughout this year the elementary course middle school and high school we are making stride in the special education proficiency uh in the last first semester before the end of the first semester uh the elementary

was already able to show that through our special education miss uh uh Miss Madrid we um our special education population were the one who mean significant growth not they're not yet proficient but they are making significant growth now for our Native American we all know that our students here are 85% Native American we are a we are a title one school that means we are about 97 98% uh uh uh underpowered or economically disadvantaged but when it comes to EL last year we were the uh it was the first year that we really was able to activate our testing and I'm very happy to report cross my finger but I did my just short glance I attended my meeting this morning and I was surprised myself because I was just trying to uh present the

currently data but I happened to was to able to compare last year and this year's data our ELLL population showed not just minor growth so for example one class exempt one last year their speaking level was at 1.9 to 2.2 and they are now scoring at five to six. So that's speaking then we have uh we have speak no listening then we have listening we have speaking we have writing and we have reading the reading for our ELLL students continues to be around 2.3 to 3.2 do and which is evident by our uh by our data. But knowing the population that we serve students that are high in listening have high and this is not listening in their traditional language. The WA test is testing ELLL kids in their English language professions. How they hear,

how they listen for English, how they speak English, how they write English, and how they read in English. So I'm very happy to report that I I only have last year's data to compare because that's our baseline and we are already seeing growth and improvements in our ELLL populations. Now the hard part is to make sure that our uh academic proficiency for all the students we should be able to analyze them to our sub population uh to be strategic. uh uh we've hired a cal certified uh really specialist for our special education and it's making an uh we've also uh made sure for our ELLL population through our win time to our intervention time in the beginning of last year but that means that we are still falling behind in our math proficiency. So that's

uh that's going to be something that my team myself and my team will work harder for next school year. >> Mr. um thank you for your report. We appreciate it. Do you have any questions? >> I was going to go she was done. Oh yeah, that was awesome. >> I did one to make sure that I'm comprehending what your report says correctly, but there's, you know, a decrease very very slightly grade three for reading, language, and I think also for mathematics. >> Correct. >> Um I guess I'm curious about identifying the problem areas. I know that they're very slight decreases, but I'm just curious about like targeting those issues we have. And it's something that we analyze when you go more deeply into taking a look at the students in the class, comparing that to

how many students are identified with special education needs. Um, very interesting. The students in that class that are showing you the most growth are the special education students. Um, so that made us want to analyze, you know, what do we need to do differently with the general education students within the classroom to try and figure out where those um not as much growth is occurring. Um, but we definitely did have that conversation within PLC's and sort of analyze why what's up. >> Madame President, if I may add, I had conversation with Miss Herman about this one and the third grade specifically. uh we almost the third grade in education we say that brain will make make or break grade level and so uh one of the analysis and it's it's a theory right now it's

a working theory is because in third grade uh that's the that's our that's the beginning of our accountability here but we ended up having to focus on reteing foundational skills. So the key just like in our strategic plan is really improving early literacy those foundational grade should really improve so that by the time they start grade three we say in early years they learn how to read by grade three they have to learn read in order to learn but that is uh one of the working theory we're looking at and uh we're already bouncing ideas on and definitely the SFA A next year will focus to see because um the three four five teachers they were the one who's really having a hard time uh navigating my expectation to say we have to teach the

standards but you know they know and and I I understand that I appreciate that that the students are not yet needs to be exposed to grade level standards but they have to have that am I correct on that analysis they have to have that foundation now can you explain that >> yes so to clarify that the standards switch dramatically once you hit third grade because the expectation is they already know how to read, right? So that if you put a piece of text in front of them, they're able to decode all of it and then able to decode it well enough that they get to the end and they comprehend what they read, right? So you switch over from learning to read to reading to learn. A lot of our kiddos because they're more than

a grade level behind, which is where I was talking about that aggressive growth that we want to see. if they're going into third grade not being able to decode, not being able to read the words themselves, they're not going to be able to comprehend what they're being asked to. And when, you know, we ask them to teach grade level standards as they should, that's where the struggle really comes in because what do you do if a kid doesn't know how to read yet, but the standards are telling me they already should. So one of the ways that we worked on that this year was including our win time which was what ID time where we broke them up into their smaller groups so that the kids that still couldn't were getting 45 minutes a day

of being able to learn how to code because if we just did grade level all day long they're never getting instruction anymore. Um, and the great thing about XFA is Pearl, which we'll be doing next year, is it takes that wind block that we already started this year and moves it from 45 minutes a day to 90 minutes a day. So, we hope to really see that aggressive growth because we're doubling the amount of time when we're trying to close those gaps in >> and our conversation with our partner from SFAS, they are also aggressive with us. So, they are making a commit resources to say Mr. you have to commit these resources because one grade or two grades must be the growth for next year. >> So that is that kind of conversation and

it's a it's a schoolwide initiative. So that's we're hoping to make that but of course like I said the math will be another big investment we have to tackle for next year. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Awesome. Well, I'm excited to see what the scores are for our sec for next year's third graders for our second graders are on this positive track and so it seems like that's where we're moving and starting all the >> all the good things that you're doing versus recovering so much. It it will take another year or two like we are but we're definitely on the right track but really excited going into next year. >> Thank you. All right. Moving down to finance budget report. >> Yes, I am going to have a red. >> Thank you everyone. Um for

the consent agenda items, um I submitted the April checklist and I just wanted to go some over some of the expenditures that were included. Um, one of the items that may have stood out was um, payments for our beacon light project. Um, so we made two payments, one to eight solutions and one to go in and Houston. Now what was um, I guess the engineers uh, they were the ones that kind of drew up what beacon line was supposed to do and APE is the one that will be building the the beacon line. Um we still don't have it set up yet, but we're we're moving toward getting that um completed. Um we also had several expenditures tied to student engagement and family activities, including supplies and materials for our family activity night events at

the elementary and middle school, as well as supplies and materials used for the warrior summit and college um career group. uh other larger um expenditures included our prek. Um we had to really focus in and I worked with Miss Herman and um Miss Hughes and spending down that grant. Um so that was uh funded through our ACC. Um we have our continued HBAC preventative and maintenance and repairs. Um and then of course our food service management which is SFD. So that's one of our larger expenditures. And then of course our monthly utility costs. Um as you notice I also submitted uh two bars for bonds uh 24101 and 24154. And so this is title one and title two. Now these bars came as quite a bit of a surprise to us the district business office.

So what I could gather from the backup that was attached from the memo from our secretary of education is that this decrease is part of um grant year carryover from grant 22 23 and 24. Um I don't know if you guys recall but for I want to say it was probably like December the later months I submitted an increase bar for these uh two funds in in um to as we got the award for the carryover. So we got those three years those grant years I think in December I believe it was in December we had to increase our total allocation and then we had to spend it. Jessica help me out here. Was it was it September or December? >> September. So it was September because we had to expend it by October. Um

so we did that. So we worked hard. We got out um the expend expenditures. We submitted the RFS and we submitted that to the state. Now we got this memo where it's basically saying we're recouping some of that carryover that they gave us and that increased it. So, I do have an email into the state because I want a little bit more clarification. I don't know if they're trying to pull back money that um they're seeing that like unspent or or what it is exactly. I'm a little bit um at a loss with this one. So I do have uh like I said correspondence in with uh peed to help me understand this better but based off of what was provided that's kind of what we got is is they're kind of they're recouping from

those grant years of 22 23 and 24. So that was a bit of a surprise for us. Um we also have a increase bar for uh fund 25111 and that is our uh CLSD and this is the second year allocation. And so what this um fund provides to the district is it assists in um supporting two FTEES and so um structure >> coordinator and coach to promote our structure. >> Yeah. literacy. >> Literacy. Yes. >> K12 districtwide uh literacy. >> Um so those are the bars that I have in for approval. Um and then hopefully I will have a little bit more information in regards to the decrease and then I can present that uh next month. Um additionally I uh submitted IBTS with for fun 11,000 and functions 1021. Um, however, I will be

asking for a favor from our board. Um, due to us entering our year-end period, um, I will be asking for board authorization to process any any last minute IBTS. So, I will be working to complete these IBTS the remainder this month and next month. and any IBTS that I process through the system to close out the year, of course, I will present it to you, but I'm just asking for permission to to uh complete the process um for for the entire budget. >> Um >> and that would allow us to close our uh budget year for this year. >> Yeah, we're closing up. So, I can't um it's just moving as I mentioned, it's it's just budget maintenance. So, we have to keep the movement within the same functions and and you know, we have

some staff that came in that I hadn't originally budgeted for uh due to some of these grants that we received later on. So, it's just kind of it's just keeping with budget maintenance. Um lastly, I'm happy to report that we're able to uh successfully submit the district's fiscal year 2627 budget to the state on time. And um I just wanted to say I appreciate uh the board making time for the for the special board meeting and and meeting on Friday. And again, I just appreciate your continued support throughout the entire year. >> Not for any questions. >> Any questions? >> No questions. Thank you. Yeah. >> Do as far as permission goes, do we need to book on that or is that >> it's not in the Oh, it's >> Oh, it's right in front.

Thank you. >> All right. Um, moving down to public comments. Do we have any public? >> Yes, we do have one. Um, Sally Wer Good evening. I'm Sally Rero. Um I currently have three grandchildren attending Hus Valley. And um this is not a complaint. This is a request for consideration of doing something a little bit different next year maybe. So I'll start with the um attendance. Attendance is very important. I realize that and I know that we have state guidelines for attendance and um we try to adhere to those from what I understand and and that's good. Kids should be in school. Okay. However, when it comes to the perks of um attendance, if a child, my suggestion and my request for consideration is if a child is sick and is given a doctor's note

that they're sick, why can't Hamus Valley use their own discretion when it comes to granting them access to perks? such as the ultimate warrior, you know, as long as they have a doctor's note that that's just a suggestion and a request because they're little. They're and they feel slighted and and especially since they've got good grades hopefully, right? They're they're keeping everything the way it needs to be. That's just a request for consideration for future. Um, I know we have to adhere to attendance, but we can have our own attendance guidelines within His Valley Public Schools. So, the second thing I wanted to um bring up is um I kind of noticed a little trend and and it happened with both of my granddaughters where um had one granddaughter who was in school, wasn't feeling

well. Um her do her mother just happened to come into the cafeteria one day and she's just sitting there not eating flushed. She had a temperature of 105. She had requested to go to the nurse's office, was denied access to the nurse and told to just I guess just tough it out, I guess. I don't know. And so anyway, my second granddaughter fell off the slide about a month ago. Um was crying. Um was taken in by a teacher into the office. She also was not sent to the nurse's office. Um she was crying for her mom. Her mom was not called. Neither one of the parents were called. for either one of my grandkids. And so after school, she gets home, she's still hurting. She takes her to urgent care. She had a sprain

neck and a mild concussion. Okay. So, when did we stop allowing children to see the nurse? We have a nurse on staff. That's what they're there for. If a child falls and gets hurt, if they're not feeling well, certainly 105 temperature, you're going to notice that both of them were denied access to the nurse. And then the nurse can make the call as to whether or not the parent should be called. Um, parents, my thought, parents should always be called. Do you want to pick up your child? This is what's happening. Give them that option. Because if you don't, then heaven forbid something serious takes place, then the school is put in a predicament. So, it's always best to air on the side of caution and at least send them to the nurse, then let

the nurse make the call. So that's just for again consideration for the way the protocol goes within the the school. Um I know kids I don't feel good. I want to go to the nurse. I understand that you know and they're perfectly fine. So it's hard to gauge when a child is really sick, not sick. But I think we just need to pay a little more attention to these types of things and and again let the nurse make that call. It shouldn't be made by the staff in the office. That's why we have a nurse. So I appreciate your time. Thank you for letting me uh bring this to your attention. And again, again, it's just if you'll consider it, I would appreciate it. Thank you so much. Any other public comments down to notice

it a go to consent agenda motion approve the consent agenda. >> I'll make a motion to move >> with permission. Oh yes, it's part of the eligible approved budget adjustments. Glenda >> here. Penny >> Peter >> advanced planning the upcoming next board meeting is June 16th and future board trainings is the one in Albuquerque the law conference from June 8 to the 10th and then the leaders are dates >> 4 to John 46 correct. >> Sounds like you're going Peter. >> Okay. for retreat is July 16th to the 18th in house. Um, do we need to move into executive session, Dr. >> Okay. Can I get a motion to move into executive session? >> Thank you. Can I get a second? Glenda Peter. 68 and 63. >> Thank you everybody.
