004to recognize our winter sports teams. Another great winter sports season by our teams. Great competition. Uh get to experience a lot of news here at Edgewood with some stuff and it was just exciting as a winter sports team. on the watching these young people compete like we always talk about the most impressive thing is what they do in the classroom and uh these teams that are representing here tonight at the end of the you know winter sports season whatever once again we have an overall team GPA all the winter sports over 3.3 GPA that's what we're always striving for in the classroom and it's not a joke but Jeff and I did laugh at it probably the first time we can remember we didn't lose a wrestlers eligibility in a number of years so that's

005a testament to what you know coach Keane's doing coach Baker in the building. Also with him, he's got Zach that's able to get in the building. So the more coaches we have in the building now, it's really paying dividends to these players and what they're doing in the classroom. So very proud of all these teams and what they've done. So what I'll do is I'll call your team down. You guys can stand up here, watch the cords, and then I'll I'll read the information about each team. So first up is our boys basketball team. Come on down, guys. Bringing home a cold here. They were co- champs of the of the SWL this year. Uh joining us tonight is Tyson Bailey. He was a first team SWL. He was the uh district 2 or division

0062 district 15 senior player of the year and first team division 2 Southwest Ohio. Congratulations to man. Reynolds was first team SWDL uh division 2 district 15 all senior team and second team division 2 southwest Ohio. Congratulations. And our coach, Coach Oman, was our D2 was a district two, our dis division 2 district 15 coach of the year. And his assistant coach, Coach Daly was a D2 district 15 assistant coach of the year. And they got the coach in the All-Star game last week, 104 to 102, right, was the score, was two points short. So they still got to play in another game. So it's very impressive to see these two young men and played all season long and look forward. They'll be making their commitment here. So, we'll have that in May to see

007them move on further in their career. Congratulations, man. >> Girls basketball. >> Sorry, Ryan. here long. >> Let's go. >> Girls basketball had a great season. Like I said, it's second year. Coach Curers Tulage underneath them. Like said, they've increased the wins to eight wins last season. That was a big step in the right direction. They're moving in the right direction, especially the freshman that they got the honors that Ryan did. Ryan was she was honorable mention all league this year as a freshman. So very impressive. Look forward to seeing her the next three years on the basketball court. Congratulations Ryan. >> Boys and girls wrestling. very proud of the guys. But as you guys can see, as we grow as a district and things come new, our girls program is is growing is growing.

008We had uh seven high school girls this past year and 11 middle school girls. So, it's a very it's a big growing thing. If you hadn't seen it, being up there at the state, watching that state championship girls wrestling, it is something very impressive to see and seeing how the girls wrestling uh has grown in the state of Ohio, what what they're doing up here and stuff. So, it's good to see this and look forward to growing up hopefully next year is to have a full girls middle school and high school team for Edgewood and representing our school district. Eastston Ballinger was D1 uh Southwest Ohio sectional champion was the Southwest uh district third place finisher and the state qualifier was second team SODL sectional runner up fourth place at district and a state qualifier.

009They don't want to raise their hand. It's okay. So >> everybody knows who you are. Ronnie Lips, second team SVL, uh sectional fifth place and the district qualifier. Ken Roupert was a sectional fourth place finisher and a district qualifier. Zach Jones mentioned SWL and a fifth place at sectionals. Chloe Adams second team as they young. We also too just with the girls here. We got to host the first SABL girls league championship. It was nice seeing all the teams here and the girls here and getting to host that event and we did the J boys just another opportunity. So it was very nice. So plug Adams. Good job. Frame. I will mention SWL Cruz. I will mention S SWL. Addison Brown. I will mention S SWL. And Miss Eden Strum, she was a fourth place

010finisher at sectionals, went to districts, and the first girl from Edwood to ever win a match at districts. So congratulations. Look forward to the seniors that are moving on. Thank you for what you did graduates. For all you returners, look forward to a better productive year next year. Thank you. Boys and girls bowling. Once again, an evolving sport for our league. We was able to have a league competition and and have our players represent off this. Our boys team was uh Peyton McQueen was the second team all leager. Colton Travel was the second team uh all league and Anthony Carita was a honorable mention and Lionus uh B was our sportsmanship on the girls side. First team was Cali Cali Talby was a firstteamer, second team Grayson McQueen, second team Kfax with the state and

011then our sport was Lauren Jones. Congratulations competition cheer. >> Yeah. There we go. Our competition square squad lub our competition cheer squad earned the first SWL league tier compet championship this season. They received first place with a traditional non-building routine and first place with their game day not build non-building routine. They also received overall grand champion in the traditional division. In addition to SW League Champion, they had a great season earning five first place awards and two overall grand champions with their traditional routine and six top three places with their game day routine. They finished sixth in the state at the OSA Spirit State Championship and fourth place at the best in the state with their traditional routine. Most recently, the competition cheer competed for the first time at the National High School cheerleading competition

012in Orlando, Florida, where they finished in the game day division at ninth place in the nation. They finished seventh in the nation with their traditional routine. So, once again, we're branching out taking Edgewood Brand to other places besides just here in Butler County and in surrounding areas. We're taking them out of state and representing our community and our in our district and other places around the country. Congratulations, young ladies. Once again, I want to thank the board, too. Like I said, I think the the thing that I see with Edgewood Sports moving forward is just seeing a lot of our, you know, getting more of our coaches in the building. You know, Coach Oman's in there with math and stuff. So, we're getting a lot of more of our coaches in the buildings. when we're

013doing that whether it's giving these young people more opportunities and they're doing better in school, better with their grades and it's giving us better opportunity to represent what we're doing here in the community. So, thank you guys. Look forward to another great season by everybody that's out there next year. Like I said, look forward to hanging some more numbers up on the banners and and having a great spring season that's already here. Even though it doesn't feel like it outside, it's here and it's going and that'll get going this weekend with a lot of sports this weekend. About every sport we have will be in action this weekend playing somewhere. So if you get a chance to get in the car and just start driving around, you'll hit one of us somewhere. >> Thank you.

014That's why I felt about That's all right. And then there were just the cool kids are left, right? Okay. Um All right. We do not have any public participation. Looks like our next item is treasure items. Um, Mrs. Bowers. >> Yes. I would like to block items A and B and ask for a motion to approve the board meeting minutes from February the 23rd and March 23rd. >> March 9th. >> I'm sorry, March 9th. >> Is there a motion to approve the board minutes for February 23rd and March 9th? >> What was that? Because I can't tell you to apart like Mr. Yeah. So move. >> Thank you. Is there a second? >> I'll second it. >> Okay. Is there any discussion? >> M roll, please. >> Mr. Kevin F. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie

015Barnes. >> Yes. >> Mr. Fash. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mark Measure. >> Yes. >> Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. >> Motion carries 50. Uh, next I would like to ask for a motion to approve the treasures financial reports as presented. Is there a motion to approve the February 26 financial reports as presented? >> Absolutely. >> Mr. Thomas. >> Second. >> Mr. M. >> Is there any discussion on this item? >> Could I know you talked about it one time, what do we get differently? I saw the one expenditure for Warren County BSC versus Butler. What do we do different between Warren and Butler? Bubba and Mor County both provide purchase services. Um some >> yeah most of what we use are um staffing um OT PT um we have student placement in and out um

016we do >> coaches >> oh yeah like um behavioral coaching professional development yeah >> it's it all stems around our staffing or student placements out >> okay it's like any service you buy. Some fell county is really good and got great quality this and maybe Warren County might be a little edgy here. Hamilton County might be there forever you want. So whoever has the best service at the best price it's it's competit it's competitive marketplace so we buy from multiple. >> Okay. >> I'd seen those before but I just didn't know if there were certain things you get from certain ones and I saw that one expend from Warren. I just didn't know. Sometimes uh Butler County won't have it so we'll have to go outside the county. >> Yeah. >> Um I will share

017with you as well that we go through procurement and we have to submit their audits. So they're held to financial accountability and just like we are here in our district. So we do submit all of their reports and their audits before we issue any contracts with them. >> Any more discussion? Mr. Con, please. >> Mr. John Thomas, >> yes. >> Mr. Mark Measure, >> yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashcraf, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes, >> yes. >> Mr. Kevin Paul, >> yes. >> Motion carries 5. The next agenda item, I would like to ask for a motion to approve the amounts and rates as presented. >> Motion to approve the amounts and rates as presented. >> So moved, >> Mr. Master Smith. Is there a second? >> Second, >> Mr. Fall. Is there any discussion

018on this? >> Anything you want to highlight on here that >> might be different or changes to what we just it's procedural really and the county makes us do it. Um they just tell us what the rates are that they're going to collect for our property tax. >> Is this consistent with what we were expecting? >> Um well, you know, we did pay that one bond off at the end of the year. So that one mill fell off. So that is not here. It It's pretty close to where we were. >> Okay. >> But there's no lost revenue or anything other than that coming off. >> Um no, like it it's still collecting like a mill for our substitute, for example, it's going to collect about 660 $670,000. I mean, if they're delinquent taxes or

019whatnot, we don't know that until people pay. So >> this is for FY27. >> Yes. >> Starting in July. >> July 26. Yes. >> Yeah. >> Good. >> Call please. >> Mr. Mark Measure. >> Yes. >> Mr. Kevin Paul. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashra. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes. >> Yes. >> And Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. Motion carries 5 Z. The next agenda item, I would like to ask for a motion to approve two uh special cost centers for Butler Rural Grants for two of our teachers. >> There a motion to approve the new funds >> as presented. Mr. Thomas second. >> I'll second Barnes. >> Is there any discussion on either one of these? >> I'm sorry. >> Is there any discussion? your call, please. >> Mr. John Thomas, yes. >>

020Mrs. Lorie Barnes, >> yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashgra, >> yes. >> Mr. Kevin Fo, >> yes. >> Mr. Mark Measure, >> yes. >> Motion carries 50. The next agenda item, I would like to ask for a motion to approve donations as presented. >> A motion to approve the four donations as presented. >> So move, >> Mr. Falls. Is there a second? >> Second, >> Mr. Mr. Smith. Any discussion? >> All right. >> Much appreciated. >> Mr. Kevin Hall. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mark Measure. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashcraft. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes. >> Yes. >> And Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. >> Motion carries 50. Like to ask for a motion to approve the FY27 frontline education renewal quote as presented. Is there a motion to approve the frontline education renewal vote

021as presented? >> So move. >> Mr. Mr. Smith, is there a second? >> Second. >> Mr. Thomas, is there any discussion? >> Cost on this pretty consistent. >> It did go up about $800, I think, this year. >> I was going to say I thought it went up, >> yeah, it's up a little bit. >> Okay. >> You want to I just um My gosh, I can't talk. Do you want to expl What this is for? >> It's a financial software. We use this for budgeting, forecasting. >> You can't go without it. >> I prefer not to go. I love this software. We use front line for a lot of things. Um, ASOP or Apple Track where we get Front Line is a really good company and yeah. Okay. >> Could you call the RO

022please? >> Mr. Mark Measures. >> Yes. >> Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Jamie Ashcraft. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes. >> Yes. >> And Mr. Kevin F. >> Yes. >> Motion carries 50. Uh, next I'd like to ask for a motion to approve approve the FY26 EPC cooperative school bus purchasing program resolution. >> Is there a motion to approve the EPC co-op um resolution as presented? So moved. >> Mr. Master Schmidt. Is there a second? Second. >> Mr. Thomas. This just means we're going to enroll in it. We're not buying that sleeve yet. >> Not yet. This is just starting the >> process process. >> We've been in this for >> Yes. They actually get the bids for us. Yep. Yep. We worked with them last year. Got one regular education bus and

023one special needs bus. So, this is just starting the process. Um I do already have bids that I can go out and look at and Ideally, we wanted to do two buses a year. Again, we're not locked into the two buses, >> but I will be coming to you next month with um a recommendation. >> Any idea what a school bus costs? >> About 125 130,000. >> That's significantly more than the last time we specific. >> Um I can look real fast. I think it was about 123. >> Was it that much? when you first I was going to say I remember I was thinking they were in the 95 range. >> No, it's Give me just one second here. >> General operator, >> correct? Yep. >> And you mentioned the goal is to purchase

024the goal is to purchase potentially two per year like >> that's the schedule that we want. schedule. >> Yes. >> Maintenance and replace schedule. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> We had um two buses on for disposal. We did let one of those go to Butler Tech. We got $2,000 out of it, but it was rusted and um >> they don't let Butler Tech kids on it. >> Well, I think I don't know for sure. I think they were using them in one of their classes. like >> okay >> we paid 252,595 for the two buses they bought last year all PO >> so it's about 25 >> I just didn't remember being that expensive >> and the year prior we got four buses but we had that cramp where we got two of them >>

025for free basically >> remember that >> so about 250 two buses. >> We have paused this before depending on our financial situation. Um, so just because we're doing this doesn't mean we have to buy two, but that was the plan that we came up with many years ago. >> This motion is basically just allow. >> Yeah. >> Typically, there's a lot of investigative work that goes in before you buy. I mean, they're not just saying, "Hey, it's kind of like two buses. I mean, they rust really bad. They fall. They can become unrepairable in a lot of situations. So if you don't leave one, we don't buy it. >> Right. >> It's like one of the things I learned sitting up plywood floors in them and wires real hard on the floors and >> Yeah.

026>> All right. Any other discussion? Call the please. >> Mr. Mark Measure. >> Yes. >> Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashcraft. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes. >> Yes. >> Mr. Kevin F. >> Yes. Motion carries 50. I'd like to ask for a motion to approve the Alpha Energy Solutions proposal as presented. >> Sir, a motion to approve the Alpha Energy Solutions proposal as presented. >> So move >> Mr. Thomas second. >> Mr. F. >> Is there any discussion on this item? >> This came in a little bit better than what was initially proposed, right? >> We Yeah, we got multiple bids. the uh the Wel who've been using them for jobs like this came out and they were a little high but they always do and not to exceed so they

027take worst case scenario everything going wrong we could possibly go wrong that's how they bid it and generally they come in well under it but um Mr. Nap who has been communicating with other business managers from the county in Hamilton County a lot of them talked about using Alpha they're out of Louisville and they also are big enough they'll they'll bid this geothermal system we got here. So, we thought we would give them this job to to so they can kind of get their in here, get somebody in. We see what kind of work they do and then they they really like to do this geothermal. So, we thought it might be a new way to get another another set of eyes on that geothermal system because we're going to have to make a big

028investment in that. This is nothing compared to that proposal. >> Was this the Was this cheapest bid. >> It was by far pretty pretty pretty competitive. I think the next lowest one was about $6,000 higher. Um they were we actually got I think four bids. So Wyville is who we've been using lately. They they us not to exceed. >> Do you know what other districts use alpha? >> Larry would know. I mean a lot of the Hamilton County guys are using alpha. They're out of Louisville. They have they have they travel but they're out of Louisville, Kentucky and a lot of big Hamilton County districts are using Alpha. So I'm not I don't know off top of my head which schools but a lot of those people said they need because I think he actually

029reached out to find out who people were using for HVAC um contractors. >> Are we going to do this over the summer? Is that the plan that >> this this water heater? >> Yeah. >> Um we have there's two of them. So I don't know if they can isolate and do this one right away. We have to do the We have to do the geothermal this summer. This might happen right away. >> This is domestic hot water. >> Do you know and if you don't know I understand why cuz Donnie was talking about this before. So they going to move this inside? >> Do what? >> Do you know if he's moving this inside? >> I don't think they're moving it. >> Okay. Sorry. I'm not Go ahead. I know D talked about that before

030>> because there's two of them. The other one's fine. This one's This is the one that problems. >> Okay. >> And I don't know if they cycle or one's backup or they both run simultaneously. I don't know how they work. I mean, this one's down. So, they can't be isolated. But I don't know how they work. Like it's like the geothermal how they got to different banks. They they don't like they don't cycle. They sequence. So, the earlier ones are always run. The later ones don't get used as often. I'm not sure about these. >> I I can't remember where I can't find it here quickly, but it said it would almost start almost. >> Yeah. >> Any other discussion? >> As you call the roll, please. >> Mr. John Thomas, >> yes. >> Mr.

031Kevin F. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashcr. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mark Measure Schmidt. >> Yes. >> Motion carries 50. Uh next agenda item is justformational items from the treasurer. Um I just wanted to share with you that I am in the process of setting up a meeting. Um I am going to have our attorney come into this meeting for all of our booster groups and organizations. Going to try to do that next month just so that we are all operating on the same page. Um, there was some discussion about shutting down the PTO and someone else maybe taking over, but there are no buys or anything. Um, I'm also getting calls like from our athletic boosters asking who they can take donations from and and whatnot. And it's

032not a good idea for this school to make those decisions. So, um, we're going to have all of our booster groups and organizational groups come in so that they're all hearing the same thing and we're going to look at doing that after spring break and hopefully keep our PTO up and running because they do a lot of great things for this district and just wanted you to know that that's going on. >> So, so you said that it's going to continue. We've got somebody that's going to take it over. I've heard that there was like five or six people that have some interest in doing that. So, we definitely want to support that and >> but make sure that we're doing everything legally. >> That's great. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Consistency is always

033helpful. >> Sure. >> Thank you. All right. Next, we have superintendent items. >> Just got a couple things here. We got three overnight field trips. Um, two are Butler Tech trips uh to one is to Columbus. It's I'm sorry to Atlanta to Columbus, Ohio. That's FFA state convention. That's in April, end of April. The other's an overnight field trip to Atlanta, Georgia. That's Georgia. That's DECA for their international career development conference. That's April 24th through the 29th. And then this is kind of a now and then. This was the wrestling team that participated. two wrestlers at the state tournament March. I I think I sent you guys a text. We didn't expect to qualify. They drove up with their parents. They stayed with their parents, but our coaches did go. There was some expense. Um

034I approved it, but I wanted the board to approve it retroactively because there was an expense associated with it. And our kids did did well for the young kids and they got to experience the state tournament. And I think they they both won a match and lost a couple matches, but good good to qualify. Yeah, it is. So, those three together and that's that's all I got for voting items and some updates. >> Is there a motion to approve the three overnight field trips as presented? >> So moved. >> Mr. Mr. Smith, is there a second? >> Second. >> Mr. Fall, can you call the RO, please? >> Mr. Mark Measure. >> Yes. >> Mr. Kevin, >> yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashgra, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes, >> yes. >> Mr. John, >> yes.

035Motion carries 5 Z. Okay. >> So, just uhformational items just to update you kind of where we're at at the end of the the month on um kind of our plans for 2627. Um one of our goals was to improve early early childhood readiness. We're going to do that by expanding our preschool program. That position was posted and filled. So assuming we have enough numbers, we will have an additional preschool classroom in in Trenton next year. Um whenever that because that was a new position and and we actually have we added one more um kindergarten teacher than we plan to have. Was that kindergarten or was that first grade? Was that kindergarten? We have one extra teacher. >> Yeah. So we start with So we one person we are over but we because we're at

036preschool everybody's going to have a job but we don't know where everything's going to fall out. The first round of postings was just who's going where? We didn't even post preschool. You got to have three teachers in each grade going to seven mile. We got to have five teachers in the grades that don't exist in Trenton go to Bayback. So we posted those. No grade jumping just who goes where they they through that that's done. After that, we posted preschool. We called that round two. That's a brand new position. So, we had a teacher who requested that and that created a vacancy. So, after that, the teacher was appointed to preschool and created her position, which was posted again, which another teacher who wanted that job or that building got to move. So, it's a

037domino. The dominoes are falling right now. I think we're around what, three or four. We just posted a bunch of other positions today like middle school anticipated positions and some retirements and reservations and such. So those could also create additional dominoes. At the end of the day when the music stops playing, everybody's going to have a chair. Okay. But it's just a process and it takes five days for a posting for the process to play out. But knock on wood. I mean I think it's going kind of the way we expected and as planned. So, um, and and again, I think people are positive and excited about it. We posted summer school teaching positions. We posted summer school principal. We've got candidates for both already, which is good. Um, Jenny Hollyy's building, met with the

038staff. I asked them what they wanted to call the building, and this is not a formal decision. I don't know what the process is. the board will decide or by desire or what, but their teachers voted. The teachers are going to be in that building. Wanted to call it Trenton Elementary School. Baybeck came in second. Um, obviously EPS is not going to be the name, but they wanted to call it Trenton Elementary because we only have one elementary school in Trent and we're going to have one elementary school in Southern. So, some kind of some brain inconsistency, but a good idea, and I don't know whose it was, was because we don't want to dishonor Mr. Mr. Bay even though it hasn't been named after him for 5 years but to honor the legacy of

039that building's naming and Mr. who believed in books and reading and and spelling who donated a lot of books. We will name the library the Baybeck the was it Alfred Bay Library. We'll move his plaque to the library and we'll get a nice banner nice name tag for the for the Edgewood Primary Edgewood Elementary School Library. I think that's kind of the best of both worlds. That's going to be my recommendation based on Jenny's staff's recommendation. Again, I don't know what the protocol is, but at some point we have to tell this the state what we're going to call these buildings. The IRS won't necessarily change, but the name as well for for in the EMA system. So, some point I guess I don't know again I don't know if the approved that or not

040something that last >> time. Okay. >> So, that maybe that's something we can do at the next board meeting. Um, so I met with the the folks in the virtual academy because another one of our goals was to improve um, obviously we're trying to improve education the program. We're trying to prove enrollment and engagement. The virtual academy does two of three really if not three improving our graduation rate and keeping kids in edge and not having leave. Um, so I met with those guys and Mr. King and we had a positive meeting. Um, I I think the decision is that Mr. Caesar is going to go back to virtual academy. I believe we posted it today. We're planning on posting it today. I don't know if we got to post it. We'll post it tomorrow.

041We're going to post the virtual academy coordinator position. That's the position that Mr. Caesar used to hold prior to becoming the director of social emotional learning. So I think it was u maybe 20 21 or 22 20 or 21 he was >> great. Yeah. So, so, so that so he I'm assuming he will put in for that and become the virtual academy coordinator and and then he will vacate his assistant principal's position. So, if that when that happens, I'll post the high school assistant principal's position to backfill that. Um, and then I'll meet with Mr. Caesar. We'll come up with some goals and a plan for, you know, how are we going to, you know, again, it's like if you're or something. You don't necessarily want to grow your numbers because growing your numbers mean

042these kids are struggling. But we want to we want to take care of our kids, however, whatever those numbers look like and we want to, you know, grow that program, whatever means necessary to support kids, and we want we want our students to graduate. So, we'll come up with a plan and I'll I'll share that plan with you. Um, we talked about operational efficiency, student support services. We've got that position posted and I can talk to you more about that. later. One thing we we've talked about we haven't done anything with and that is look at participation fees. We talked about maybe removing barriers to encourage student participation in extracurriculars um since the decision was made to go to $500 um for paytoplay. We did see some drop offs in a number of students participating.

043So maybe next month with your guys's permission we can put that as an agenda item and discuss it and then Maybe if we have a good discussion, maybe by May we can make a decision if we want to set the rates for for next school year's pay to participate whether we the same or whether we drop it. But I think we need to get the wheels rolling on that at the end of this year. That's something we probably do in the spring anyway. >> I don't think we did it last year, but I'd like to do that. I think you guys agree we should look at that. Not saying we're going to drop it, but we should have at least have a conversation. Um, so then we had our community engagement meetings. I I do

044appreciate the board members that showed up for those and um not the turnout that we hoped for, but the people that were there were positive and um you know, again, sometimes no news is good news. You know what they say about things were squeaky and it's a lot of noise and we So it's it's been I've been getting a lot of positive back and um haven't been getting a lot of parents upset about any of these plans or decisions. So hopefully the fact that they didn't show up to ask a bunch of questions or challenge it or whatever again was a good thing. The people that are there seem very supportive of our sessions. We'll we'll do more. We'll continue to have those whatever whatever we need to do to be available and accessible to

045the community. So I again I updated this in the 90day Did I ever share that with you guys? >> Okay, I'll share that with you guys because it's just it's kind of got a a calendar feature. >> Well, not we saw something but it's been a little while so I'm sure it's updated. >> Yep. I'll share it now. So, that's all I got. >> I got I got a couple questions. So, just so I understand, how does the summer school work? So, do is there certain criteria that has to be met for a student to qualify for that? Is that completely voluntary? Is there a fee for that? We we talked about we haven't determined all this and we had a meeting and we talked about um maybe nudging some kids some nudges some recruitment

046so to say. We really think it would be beneficial for the kids that are closest that are that are right on the cusp. Maybe there's just a couple gaps that are very close to getting over the hump. So we had that conversation. We did talk about a uh a fee structure, but we talked about um if the if the students come have positive attendance maybe whatever positive tense means come to every session but one and I think we're going to do it but we decide three weeks three weeks for the program um four days a week so 12 sessions uh come 10 out of the 12 11 out of 12 we will reimburse the parent whatever the fee is down a little a bit of buy invested interest so that you actually bring your your

047student every day because it's free. It might just be easier to blow it off every day and you get back the student shows up and participates. We thought that might be kind of outside the box thinking to encourage participation and yet not be a financial burden. Um last time we did summer school, what did you say the charge was? $30 was pretty pretty insignificant. I think we up it a little bit. um not make it lifealtering, but $30 you can get a babysitter that cheap. So um maybe 100 150 bucks and then again refund it if your if your student shows up and has completes the program. >> What grades? >> We posted K through eight. >> We may have to combine some grades depending on what what our numbers look like. Again, we'll have

048teachers in place, but we may not fill all those positions if we don't have programming for each one by summer school principal. We think we'll do it at um EIS because it's kind of centrally located. We're still going to be doing some things at the primary. We're going to have kids of different grades and sizes and so EIS has a variety of different desk sizes and pretty accessible. So, we'll uh we'll we'll pick a wing and EIS, get that done first. Our plan is to do this after the 4th of July. What dates we thought it was inspected? July 13th. >> I think we're going to start it on the 13th and run it. >> 30th. >> Till the 30th. Does that sound right? >> Is it a full day? No, it's it's we we

049decided I think like three three three hours three and a half hours. What do we decide? We talked about it. It would be three hours for the kids and four, >> right? Yeah. So, three hours for the students, pay the teachers, 4 hours to be there early and after. Um, so talking like 8:30 to 11:30, something like that. Okay. >> We won't we won't transport. I don't think we'll be able to do that. So you do have minimum number requirement for each grades or grade sections for the economic threshold. >> Yeah, we're not going to do it for two, three kids. We're going to have to come up. We don't know what that threshold will be. Otherwise, we might have to combine. >> Sure. >> You know, again, it's not going to be a money

050breaker, but you want it to be beneficial, impact enough kids. >> And I know overall is there to basically help them like sit right on that cusp of just needing that nudge over to get a little boost and start. It's going to help everyone involved in that system, not only them get to that point, but us on that whole formula and funding piece at low hanging fruit, right? Like so all that does tie into the golf because again, you want to impact education. So the kids that are closest to who might need a little nudge and we're doing this intentionally after July. So it's kind of a jump start, not not a extension of the school year. It's kind of a running start to the new school year. Um so they're going to be done

051by August 1st. That's the goal because teachers will be back in the building, but they'll still have a little bit of break, but it'll be a lot smaller um gap before school's out. You know, summer school ends 3 weeks back in school, less than 3 weeks. >> I'm curious to see what kind of interest is this. So, when are we going to start communicating this? Is this >> We just posted. So, I think probably anytime we can we can we put it put out get out some information on parent square and get to teachers and start kind of recruiting. We got to be cautious though because again we'd like to we don't want to exclude kids. We like to pick and choose who we serve. Um because again we want to have be impactful and

052impact the kids that we can get over that hump that that you know because three weeks is not a long time. You're not in four hours and four days a week you're not going to you're not going to regain years of gaps. You're going to get kids that are very close need a little touch >> and that's going to be part of the criteria on who who gets in and who doesn't. So yeah, I would just think probably want to get that out as quick as possible so that parents have time to kind of plan and all that kind of stuff. Well, and on the other end of that, yeah, those ones that need that nudge, but there's also some discussion on the whole gifted side of that, too. Are there some opportunity for them

053that are right there on that nudge? I know that I'll get to delineation and whatnot how that helps sometimes do but this is more for that other gap closing not that side right typically yes it's more it's more remediation than it is in Richmond >> uh you other question I had was you had mentioned uh Trenton Elementary seven would be the same or what Yes, >> cuz it was what? Primary. >> It was E. It was Edwood Early Childhood Center. >> Edwood Primary School. It would go back to Sevenmile Elementary and Trenton Elementary. >> Okay. >> Cuz we just have two elementaryaries. >> Not all the teachers have to buy new sweatshirts. >> The t-shirt makers will be >> Yeah. keeping them in business, man. >> What about what is this EIS? Is that going

054to stay the same? Yeah, >> everything else will stay the same. >> On the other question I had was on the virtual academy. I wasn't here when that kind of went by the wayside, but is there any different funding sources that come into play with virtual academy versus traditional setting? >> No, we just have to keep those kids enrolled in five credit hours. >> Okay. The one thing with the virtual academy I've always kind of thought of is it was a really good opportunity to try to bring in some of the homeschool students that live inside our district. Is this part of the plan to try to maybe pull some of those students back, kids that live in our district but for whatever reason decided to homeschool. I think if it's a quality program if

055people are talking about it, it's it's not, you know, it's it's how it's marketed. I think we one of the conversations I have with Mr. and Mr. Harrison and Mr. Caesar was maybe we need to rebrand it and just kind of need to refresh. >> I agree. >> That's kind >> but we do also have a heavy virtual learning that's coming from a different source besides us. >> Correct. >> Yes. >> We have students who take virtual learning from getting it from state versus through us which we provide same opportunity just through us. >> Yep. And we have an at home option. school option. >> Yeah. The reason I asked that, you know, some of the courses that I teach at Miami a lot of times won't have any interest in them when they're face

056to face, but once they don't meet that threshold of face-toface course because there's a minimum student requirement and a lot of times they'll move into online and the same course online will fill up very quickly. And I think if that was clearly articulated as an opportunity, we may have some students that are homeschooling. And I know personally I'm thinking of a kid right now that's in our district. Um she's actually graduated, but she um she chose homeschool but didn't, you know, didn't have Edgewood as an option, but I think I think that would probably be attractive to a lot of families to be able to keep their kid here for you for whatever reason. They school is a better choice for them. But still be part of this district. We we talked about when they

057thought the virtual academy was most successful, what was different than what it was now. So, we're trying to maybe recreate what they felt like worked before, but again, maybe rebrand it, remarket it, um kind of give it an overall refresh, but we're going to staff it back the way that it was staffed when it was at its peak. We're going to start marketing this social media like a strategy type campaign to get the word out there. >> However they however they market it. Yeah, I think I think so. We want we want we want to grow it. We want I think one of the things though it's it's it's got to it's not just a it's not a bailout. It's not an easy way out. It's it's got to be carefully marketed so that it's

058it's rigorous, but You know what I'm saying? It's not it's not just it's not just easy. So, I think we've got to just come up with the right marketing plan to get because there's some kids that think that's just an easy path when it's not necessarily. So, um I think that was part of the conversation too is getting the right kids. And there's the right kids right now that probably wouldn't consider the Rush Academy because maybe it's not branded the way we like it to be branded. When when I was at the career center up in they they had a youth connections which was a which was virtual academy more or less same kind of deal. their big thing. They competed in this this academic bowl and it was literally it was like a was

059kind of like a quiz show like high school kids like you see you used to see on TV on the network channels and it was called the academic bowl and the youth connections kids they won the academic bowl every year and and literally it drew another another kind of kid because it had an academic it was really it was academic kids who didn't necessarily want to be in the home school for whatever reason and that that that participation in that academic bowl literally brought in a different kind of kid that were really academic oriented. They loved participating in that academic bowl and it really helped elevate again what what that youth connections who were serving kind of their their image and reputation. So I feel like we just need something like that just to again

060it's not it's not just keep you from dropping out, you know, there's got to be more to it than that. It's got to be a special set needs. We recognize there's really smart kids who whether it's a medical condition, health condition, whether it's some kind of anxiety, whether it's work, family, whatever, we can meet your needs and we can challenge you and get you ready for college or whatever the next step is through this program. I just think we got find that sweet spot for marketing. >> Sure. I think you're on the right track. For sure. >> Anything else? All right. Thank you, Mr. Phil. That was a lot of information. Um, next we have items from board members. And I promise Miss Barney, she could go up first this time. >> Why? >> Because

061so they doesn't say so I don't have to read the C. I just want to give a shout out to the U trade fair. That that was really it was really it was really well well done. >> Yeah. fun. >> There were a lot of kids. >> Come, >> Mr. Jealous. He got his picture taken with my son's company. >> I saw that. >> I had just loved it. Matthew took a picture with him. >> I saw that. >> So, I was really hurt. >> He did ask for your word. I was second the only one. >> Oh, is that to go home and take care of his kids? >> No, thank you, Miss Hopson, for that invite. Uh I thank everybody for being there and it was overwhelming how much they appreciated the opportunity

062to be there uh to talk with kids whether it be continuing education or jobs but a lot of good displays and I think it's good just have that exposure irregardless of what they're doing in the future. So thank you for the invite to come walk around with that. But and I want to thank you guys too for the community engagement meetings. I know that was a lot of work ahead of time even though turnout may have been low. Um you guys put a lot of leg work and effort into those and preparation. Um, and to that point, I don't know if there's a way to uh summarize the all three have basically a, you know, presentation with a lot of the same similar bullet points that we've been trying to communicate on a regular basis

063out to the public and um to everybody within the district, let alone the school and the teacher and everybody. If there's a way to almost summarize that, I don't know if that'd be a good posting or point as a followup. Um because like I said, I know you probably can't post all of that, right? There's a bunch in that all those presentations, but pull out some simple visuals or whatnot, I think would be a good followup summary from those community engagement meetings for those that couldn't come. And like you said, there weren't very many people, but there was a lot of good discussion, uh comments and feedback. I mean, questions like what's going to happen here and there and whatnot. So, um I appreciated that. And then the only other thing I have is obviously

064there's a lot of sports going on, but the Corer cabarets this last this coming weekend. So that's a pretty good show for cord leaders if you're able Friday and Saturday to uh come down to the auditorium and watch the court leaders on their final performance. >> Friday and Saturday. >> Okay, Mr. Thomas, >> I'm good. I'm not good. I just don't have >> Wait, what are you saying? You don't have anything to say? >> Correct. >> He's exhausted from going to the Bahamas. >> Um I don't I don't know what to say. >> All right, move on. >> How about that? >> So, um you know, we kind of kind of made the joke about, you know, everybody got up and left after the uh you know, after the uh the the athletes were recognized.

065And you know, in my line of work, we have certain things that we look at to determine our success or our lack of. And I think a lot of times when you don't have a crowded auditorium, it tells you generally people are pretty happy with the direction that you're going. Um I've sat on this stage when this place was back, people standing up and they weren't happy about some of the decisions that we've made or were worried about some of the decisions we're going to make. So I think the fact that um don't have a lot of people in here generally people are pretty content with the direction that the district is is headed. I say that um to say I did really receive two phone calls uh over the last couple of weeks from

066members of the community uh both of which were positive and just some of the things that they were seeing coming out in terms of communication out of the board office and the and the strategy of investing in the district versus cutting uh the district. And I I think that you know those unsolicited feedback like that is usually pretty good feedback. So I do think our message is resonating with people in the community and that they're listening. And to Keviny's point, while we may not have had a lot of people at the community engagement events, I didn't hear any negative feedback from anybody that did attend any of those meetings. So, I do appreciate the time and the effort that you're putting into that. And then the one thing that is always makes me proud to

067sit on this stage is, you know, we talked about all the success of these student athletes that came up here to be recognized tonight, but the one thing I think hands down that is the most important thing is just talking about the the success that they're having in the classroom. I think it's awesome that they're doing some great, you know, you know, out on the in their particular sport, but when you we come in and we say our fall athletes have a 3.3 GPA, um, and that, you know, for the first a lot of years we didn't lose any wrestlers to ineligibility. Um I just think that's a you know that's a testament of the effort that the the coaches are putting in, the the teachers are putting in, the administrators are putting in and

068I just that to me that's that's more impressive than anything else you talked about up here tonight. So just really think it's awesome to see that. >> All right. Um well I kind of the same thing. I work with a lot of teachers and I that article came out and journal news which I can't read it because I don't subscribe to journal news that I have to pay 99 cent. Um but I had a lot of questions from the people that I work with. They're like have you guys lost your mind? I'm like I think we have but I like it. I like it. So and as you talk about and explain kind of you know like what we're doing I think people are refreshed by it. So, I appreciate all of your ideas, all

069the work you guys are doing, and all the like all the positivity from all the like supporters. So, that's all I have. Um, yeah, we'll see. Um, if there's nothing else, we will look for a motion to go to executive session uh to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official or the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee official, lency, or regulated individual. Was there a motion to go into executive session? M Barnes. Is that a second? Mr. Paul, >> that would be Mr. Thomas. >> I'm sorry. >> The old guy sitting next to you. >> Well, you didn't talk before, so I kind of forgot your >> um Mr. Thomas, I'm sorry. Call, please. Yep. Mrs. Oy Barnes, >> yes. >> Mr. Dylan

070Thomas, >> yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashcraft, >> yes. >> Mr. Kevin Hall, >> yes. >> Mr. Mark Measure, >> yes. >> Motion carries 5. It is 7:00. >> All right, we are back in regular session. >> Let's see what is there a motion to approve the administrative certified classified exempt and supplemental nominations. So move >> Mr. Thomas second. >> Second >> Mr. Can you call the roll, please? >> Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. >> Mr. Kevin F. Yes. Mrs. Amy Ashcraft. Mrs. Lorie Barnes. Yes. >> Mr. Mark Schmid. >> Yes. >> Motion carries 5. >> Is there a motion to approve the job description as presented? >> So moved. >> Mr. Mid. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Mr. Paul. >> Mr. Mark Measure Schmidt. >> Yes. >> Mr. Kevin P. Yes. >> Mrs.

071Sammy Ashcraft. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes. >> Yes. >> Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. >> Motion carries 5. >> Is there a motion to approve the exempt salary schedule fiscal year 27? >> So moved. >> Mr. Measurement. Is there a second? >> Yes. >> Miss Barnes. >> Mr. Mark Measure. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes. Yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashcraftoft. >> Yes. >> Mr. Kevin Paul. >> Yes. >> Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. >> Motion carries 5 Z. And with that, we will look for a motion to adjurnn. So move >> Mr. M. >> Mr. Kevin Fall. >> Yes. >> Mr. Mark Measure Schmidt. Yes. >> Mrs. Amy Ashcrafrack. Yes. >> Mrs. Lorie Barnes. >> Yes. >> Mr. John Thomas. >> Yes. Motion carries 5 Z. >> Okay.
