Thank you, good evening members of the board speaking on behalf of the Lake Oswego parents who are responsible for technology group first off I would like to thank you all for your ongoing dialog and openness to discuss and address the topic of technology. Tonight we want to share something that just happened in our own state. And ask the board to consider doing the same. Last month school board passed resolution directing the district to fundamentally reframe its relationship to technology in the classroom. This was not a radical move, it was measured, evidence based,
003and an evidenced based response to what parents educators and researchers have been saying for years. The resolution calls for great appropriate standards of technology use and the removal of non-evidence based applications from student devices along with performance based accountability for tech vendors. The board cited 2026 Brookings Institution research finding the risks of AI in education outweighing its benefits. They are not alone, the Bedford School District has announced it will reduce technology in kindergarten through second grade next year citing research on screen times and language development. Parent groups are calling for screen use to be restricted to international standards aligned instruction. Oregon is moving in Lake Oswego has an opportunity to lead. We are not asking you to copy Benneville Pines we are asking you to match their courage when they decided two years of waiting
004was enough and ask whether our families deserve the same. Our children are in these classrooms right now and they believe the board has the authority and the responsibility to act. In the meantime we will continue connecting with concerned parents educating our community and working with you all to push for the changes that we all want to see. Thank you. Thank you to everyone who provided testimony this evening whether it was written or in person, we definitely value hearing from you and we do carefully consider all of the input that is shared. And as I have been trying to share throughout meetings, when you write letters I respond on behalf of the board and we will acknowledge that but we are not able to engage in dialog during the meeting.
