004to ask it I I don't always get a time to look over things quite like I did today um for the checks uh Kutztown Borough electricity at Liz Kutztown High School in Kutztown Middle School 35 565 is Adam I didn't see it on previous months is that a monthly or do we pay like an orderly or [Music] for the electricity I know the rates are higher [Music] yeah it just seems like and I didn't see something free this month before that at all it might be a quarterly or semi-annual or how are they going okay I think sorry okay so are they going to look into that or yes any other questions or comments uh hearing none uh roll call please yes Michael has yeah sincerely hope yes Jason cut yes Jeremiah yes Dennis Ritter

006bring it up on the screen [Music] the screen on our side is still sleeping so hit in the meantime let's move I was going to save the best for last but I said we'll need the best of first so Mr Ashton Mr Ashman is here uh with the what's so cool about manufacturing team if you [Music] sure all right so this is 5 8. manufacturing it's been going on for seven years now and we've been involved since and their job is to make a video with that company show possible from that manufacturers November the students got the tour they got to meet people who were part of the program who are running a different you know jobs and departments and things there and they got to see the equipment and how it works and all

007those kind of things and then they come back to the school and they start working on preparing interview questions so they come up with general questions they're going to ask everybody they come up with specific questions for the different roles they come up with kind of a storyboard of what shots they want to get and how they want to put things together to show The Factory and then we have one stressful day when we go out and we have to do all the interviews and all the shots to get all the footage and get the sound to work and you know deal with the loud environment and the hair nets and the all the equipment they have to wear and so they come back with a three hours of footage that they come back with

008from these interviews and all the stuff and then they have to find uh two minutes that they want out of that three hour footage to put together for their video so it's a ton of editing And discussing and listening to this little sound bite you can pick out this um then this part will sound really good and we can use that clip and so this team worked very well together that there was a wide variety of different skills and they all brought those skills to the job that we had two very artistically talented students that Drew the beginning an ending image in the video that you guys will get to see we had tech savvy people who set up the equipment and make sure it was all working and they filmed straight on in the

009interviews and then they also had a second camera from the side with the green screen so they could cut the person's image in front of other footage and it was great team they did a great job okay are there any thoughts from the program or stuff learned or stuff you enjoyed yeah really it's kind of just like a month of oh gosh I need to get this cut down what what if this and then oh no that doesn't work so this needs to go there and then finally but oh no that's like five seconds too long one of the challenges they have to deal with this year is we did our initial visit in November and then December is when we're supposed to go and film to meet the deadlines um there wasn't a single

010day in December that worked for our our calendar and their calendar they had Audits and things at the end of the year that they had to do we had assemblies and this and that and so we didn't get to go in film till January and so we talked to the people that run them and their first um Target date they were two weeks late for but then the second one they were only one week late for and then the third one they're on time and so they really put in extra that to get caught up and back on the anticipated timeline there um can we show the video Dr Myers okay foreign [Music] thank you assistant um we don't see it [Music] it's another interesting another great example of why we should have entrance music

011for board movies [Music] all right well he works on that tomorrow evening is the actual award ceremony so there'll be at the DoubleTree in reading and it said big event that it's all every Middle School from Berks County Schools a lot of the plastic containers you see every day are manufactured by ezpac in Reading Pennsylvania custom students visited to see what's so cool about manufacturing and eating them the family atmosphere and they can be able to work with my co-workers day in and day out to make improvements and help them with their jobs as far as cool changes and machinery and things like that that's where the bonus comes in is from the engineering so my favorite part about my job is the interaction with the people and the services we provide to the community

012I think the biggest part that I appreciate here is that we have so many different cultures and that we take different times and different holidays and get to learn about different culture here we go for flooring apart to actually grinding the material that we use and then as our suppliers use our product we recycle we're going to learn about the program is sustainability and I know that with today's economy one of the biggest things I was trying find sustainable product lines and stuff that's good for the environment so we do quality checks every hour every half hour all of our products so every line that's running the machine operators who actually are running the line take the product and actually do quality checks the quality checks that are given to us are actually given from

013our customers so that's basically what they say is what goes I think what's so cool about manufacturing for me is that you get the opportunity to see if a product from start to finish what's so cool about manufacturing is you get to experience a multitude of stuff when it comes to machines equipment Personnel how to do and how they operate How It's Made per se it starts out with a sheet of filled turns into a trade that you use for salads or a hot dog roller or Hoagies out of a little thin piece of sheet will always be willing to give advice all they've been willing to participate and never stop educating them keep an open mind and understand a what we're teaching you and what we're showing you is not to make your life

014harder to make your life better when we started out dinner is a little machines and we've grown to buy different buildings in this area alone what's cool about manufacturing is it it's like planting a seed in the garden you plant a seed and you watch it grow [Music] [Applause] s if you don't mind me asking a question if I read the non-verbal cues correctly they can Mason I think you were the tech master of this is that correct can you share what is your favorite effect that was added into the yeah no you both like that one yeah oh and what did you enjoy about being a part of the team I loved getting to film and like be there in the manufacturing company it's pretty cool Mary Sophia anything you'd like to share I

015really think that this team Works wonderful together we can all utilize our special talents and skills and I'm definitely um proud and honored that we got to experience this together as a team it was something that I'm definitely going to remember and I'm excited to go to the award ceremony [Music] yeah I think it was a really good opportunity and I think we learned a lot and we gained a lot of experience thank you all for your hard work and dedication of being here this evening to share it with us great job Mr Ashman yes and then one more thing that I wanted to share with you guys um so I've been running the spelling bee here at the middle school for I don't know over a decade now and so Owen was one of

016two students who has never spelled a word wrong on our stage we didn't have this feeling sixth grade year but in seventh grade he won in eighth grade he won and in both cases you go on the next round so the next round has thrown because they've lost some sponsors so they've expanded what the district is and so against instead of the other Scholars that there was a written test they had to take to narrow it down to 70 and then no students competed um and no one placed third [Applause] turned himself a trophy and as far as I can tell that's the best finish we've had from the Kutztown students congratulations Owen yeah I should be very proud we're proud of you as a school and I can tell you that Mr Ashman is

017exceptionally proud he was seeking high and low to prove that you were the best seller he exhausted the vast reaches of Mr Hubbard's memory [Music] all right congratulations Owen okay and um these guys have a late evening tomorrow with the award ceremony so I told them that they should probably head out this evening and get homework done and get caught up for those things so yeah thank you for having us thank you and congratulations yeah congratulations [Music] foreign Dr Myers if you can key up the presentation with a few more good news items to share for the good news report here March 20th 2023 first up high school March students of the month and if you don't mind I would like to call on Dr flicker just to share a little bit about the high

018school student of the month program thank you Mr Chad so this year a month ago Mr Knoll approached me about having a student of the month and he I guess all the districts do that so we make a proposal recommended at a faculty meeting did some homework on the legwork before that the criteria for the student the quarter nominations are nominations considered academics citizenship personal development and each grade level team of teachers 9 through 12 was to recommend somebody to for this through the quarter based on that criteria in this year's criteria is this first the first one doing this right to ninth grade is Carter deal 10th grade Courtney Dietrich 11th grade candle the ball after the senior is Kaylee Durham so they were announced uh the morning the PA system throw the Marquee

019and we're looking to grow some legs to this as we go along and how we can bring more students into it but for the first time through it was really straight they wanted to come live but they have sports and all these sorts of other things but thanks for recognizing them and there they are thank you for sharing all as well thank you Mr quicker congratulations to Kaylee Kendall Courtney and Carter um and it was a good month for the DS as you can see so congratulations uh to all of the first recipients of the high school students students of the month and again as you share the process of that organic Mr Dole bringing it to you and the faculty proving the idea so um thank you for sharing on behalf of the high

020school thank you next up is the chasma annual pot pie dinner this was the 27th annual celebration they sold over 630 meals with a profit of 5 118 from generous donations and earnings from the meals sold anyone who's been around for a while knows the chasma annual pot pie dinner is one of the largest events in the district it is widely successful due to the hard work of the volunteers for chasma and the money earned goes to the music program it's appropriate to share this week that we're looking at next week the many of our music students will be heading to Orlando to Disney World for an event that occurs once every four years in that trip to Orlando so um thank you to casual for all the hard work we have an unbelievable history

021and music program that can't be it's not successful without dedicated students fantastic faculty but behind that all are the parents and the volunteers of chasma that make it happen so just another great night entertainment throughout as as always congratulations to chasma and the entire music family or another successful Popeye dinner it's obviously the Mind season and at the regional championships once again our Odyssey to mind teams performed very well elementary middle school and high school teams finished in second place at the regional tournament annually at Millersville University in a variety of problem-solving challenges The Odyssey of my students are presented with a problem and they must come up with a creative solution um typically through acting out using Mary's products to solve that problem so the students qualify the team's qualified in advance the state

022tournament at Lockhaven University there are also two primary grade teams that received High Praise And A Plus scores for participation however the primary participants are not eligible for the state tournament so the Kutztown area school district will be well represented once again at the state tournament Lockhaven for Odyssey the Mind congratulations to all involved this went straight out of the the newspaper the Burke's 4-H Youth Awards I'd like to congratulate uh freshman Phoebe stutzman on first place in the 13 to 15 year old age bracket uh Berks County or H Dairy Club completed a project book showcasing a Year's records on their cattle and activities they undertook with their animals and in addition to Phoebe winning first place 2022 high school graduate Rhys Heckman received the Joyce Miller 4-H career advancement award recognizing an outstanding

023Dairy Club member for their leadership participation in community service whether it's 4-H or FFA the leadership opportunities in the agriculture programs are phenomenal and annually to see our students succeeding taking off taking advantage of those opportunities congratulations to both Phoebe and Rhys on their accomplishments and the last one for this evening is the Science Olympiad would like to congratulate the Science Olympiad team that competed at the central East Regional competition on Thursday March 16th they received the first place in Bridge second place in environmental chemistry third place and it's about time and trajectory in fourth place in forensic and the team members you see here are Justin Ashman Scott Ashman Jacob Keller Jake Justison and Ariella schickler so congratulations to the Science Olympiad team for their successful trip at the centralist regional competition and that

024is our good news for this evening Mr Birch uh thank you very much Christian uh congratulations it sounds like our students have been very busy and doing a great job with whatever they're doing um just uh very nice presentation by the what's so cool about manufacturing hopefully they do well at the award ceremony tomorrow uh Ellen great job with the spelling uh for 4-H students [Music] Odyssey the mind the science of the biad special congratulations to all of them and thank you to our community and to the chasma for supporting our music and arts in our school the department is strong and they do a great job they do it's thank you um in addition you'll see on the agenda list there's a special education plan we have a periodic special education plan that's required

025from Pennsylvania Department of Education like things eleker and her team for doing a great job preparing the special education plan it is required that it be posted publicly for 30 days before the board approves it if you're interested there's a link on the website there's a link on this agenda they did a presentation last week at Boston curriculum so I will skip the presentation tonight but the plan is available for anyone who's interested to see for the next they'll be available Beyond on that 30 days from now before the last important and that is my final good news thank you next item would be our board committee reports uh the first would be uh extracurricular and uh facilities uh Ms Banks thank you Mr Burch so first item before I was related to the Kutztown

026Rifle Team and you'll see there is an item on the agenda for approval this evening they are eligible to be part of the northeast Pennsylvania rifle league and coach joined Mr yapsuga and provided some details regarding bylaws and scheduling and some of the opportunities that our students are going to have the season would run Friday prior to Thanksgiving through the end of winter sports and there's it's actually quite a large region that they compete in and so there's some changes that allow us to do scoring of the targets and actually send our results in so they don't the kids aren't going to have to travel you know greater than an hour and a half to to shoot at any of the um gun clubs so there's there's better opportunity there at the same time they

027would still run Lehigh Valley prone league so um coach Pfister is excited for this opportunity in terms of cost Ministry of Suga show there is money in the budget that would cover the cost of any transportation needs and um the the actual week so the the northeast Pennsylvania rifle league has voted to officially accept Kutztown into the league after competing this year with several um scrimmages uh the next item was related to the St Luke's Sports Medicine agreement so you'll also see that that's on the agenda for approval this evening so we went through all of the details it's a five-year contract um St Luke's would continue to provide us with two athletic trainers and access to the primary care Sports Medicine physician and the orthopedic surgeons and Specialties I'm not going to go through

028all of the the benefits there's there was a lot to the contract and and really it is a benefit of to our students they also have community-based programs Fit for Life initiatives health education services and overall the average cost for all of this including the athletic trainers being on site and providing services to our students is twenty three thousand one hundred and three dollars per year on average so like the first Year's cost is thirty seven thousand five hundred dollars but they actually give us back um ten thousand dollars in the sponsorship so when you average it out over the five-year contract and you look at what you know the Loyalty sponsor sponsorship is as well um it's really quite an affordable program and they provide great service to our students um I just want

029to jump in it's actually a five plus two contract so those averages are over seven years when you look at everything that's in it um it's it's a five plus two and that's second large royalty payment of twenty five thousand dollars from St Luke's is in year six I think retail plus two so thank you for clarifying that um then Mr FC also provided a winter sports wrap-up so he provides a lot of statistics for cheerleading the bocce team swimming wrestling girls basketball and boys basketball um so all of that can be found in the recording from from the meeting there's a ton of details and a lot of Great accomplishments by those teams and then we moved on to the facilities um first item was related to the library so there's been some discussion

030regarding replacing the door on the hallway um to make it Ada accessible accessible and so there was some details that still need to be ironed out whether or not that's feasible but there was significant discussion regarding the specifics for that um also discussed the flooring so the carpet which is approximately 30 years old is what we believe um to replace the carpet and install vinyl behind the circulation desk and kind of create a maker space and a coffee bar for the high school students is is on the plan so nothing has been formalized yet but Mr laubenstein is working to to get those details together um and then the last item was the school zone sign and signal flashers at Greenwich Elementary School those flashers that are found on the North and South family the

031737 near Greenwich to indicate when the school zone speed limit is reduced to 15 miles an hour are really rather old and the Northbound signal is losing time so it's going slower and slower it's not going off at the right time and so Mr Robinson indicated that the company there's no contract that they can find but the company still comes out and adjusts the time and also when we have things like daylight savings and everything they come out free of charge and have been adjusting the signal so um there's some discussion around replacing those it would be at the school district's cost and some of those options so Mr robinstein is still collecting information on on that project as well and that concludes my report thank you Rochelle next committee is policy and curriculum uh

032this whole thank you Mr Burch uh when we met last week this first item on the agenda was the Pennsylvania Department of Education dual credit grants um which is coming about with the recent act 55 requirements about dual credit and dual enrollment which we do already have in our district but we're applying for a goals to increase enrollments in our dual credit and dual enroll enrollment especially for economically disadvantaged and first generation students expand dual credit through rack and other community colleges and to expand our dual enrollment program with KU and the goal for by 27 28 Academic Year to have a pathway um during a high school diploma and an associate's degree when you leave the district um so Dr lever presented to us on that along with Mrs Devlin and then um our

033next item was the special education plan which Mr Tim Chapman mentioned earlier um that is on the website for review um and that plan was put together with Mrs eliker and 23 other um stakeholders um to create the plan for the next three years [Music] um third [Music] eye counts is another Grant and um that's partnering partnering with daycares and college pre-service um and went on to offer a pre-k program um through the district so that grants is it close already no just opened we will not close until after what's up we're hoping to be successful there with that Grant um and then uh those all took most of the meeting um so we only got to the first policy for review which was 9 18 uh title one parent and family engagement and that

034was just requested for review if no changes after um input from parents that are affected by title one asking if there were any changes in how anybody wants that engagement and interaction to occur and since there were none it is marked reviewed in time for our monitoring cycle and that concludes my report thank you Cecilia next is academic achievement committee is there any report Dr Darius next is Burke's TCC uh Ms Siteman there was no meeting next then is Burke's career and Technology Center Mr cook thank you Mr Rich uh one thing I do want to draw our attention to on the agenda under item uh yeah here our item x uh the the budget been brought for our approval uh for 23.24. um we are the bcpc is looking at a proposed budget of

03518 million 779 066 which is actually the decrease of just over 1.5 million uh compared to last year's budget uh uh we have to remember though that that's the correct decrease is primarily due to the transportation costs being shifted from bcpc to the district as a district we are seeing we are going to see a decrease of roughly 27 000 um in 2324 as compared to what was budgeted for this year we will be contributing approximately 432 which is down from 544 000 uh this year but again we will be incurring additional costs the transport our student care overall it's a pretty solid budget from BCTC and I would encourage the board to adopt Merchant just add some context to that as well currently 88 students from high school at 10 BCTC so when we

036look at the expenditure for vctc it's to accommodate the career preparation of 88 of our students uh thank you Mr Clark next is our bciu Dr Riddick I was not able to attend in person tried to attend via zoom and for some reason they they could not connect with me and I could not connect with them this time so um you have the all the information that I have became I think to board members they had send it out board actions for that night nothing that jumps out per se typical uh board meeting in a lot of agreements being ratified as well as a second reading with a number of policies and uh so that was it unfortunately I wasn't able to be a part of it this time because I couldn't get in from

037home okay it was going to let me in and they never did never could okay uh thank you Dr River next is our PA School Board Association Ms Holt thanks again um I just have a couple of things um the one being that there's a new opportunity for board members to interact with psba staff if you have questions about resources or upcoming legislation or anything you might um want to know from psba you know outside of attending webinars or that sort of thing they're having office hours so three times a week Tuesday Wednesday mornings Thursday afternoons you can log in through my psba and ask questions and either get answers immediately or if there's something that needs research they can get back to you later um and then I had a month or two ago

038I um announced some information about sectional meetings uh that were upcoming and they have rescheduled some of those there was one on school safety that is now going to be presented by a webinar and the date has not changed it is still on April fools in the evening it's six o'clock there was one on poverty that is being rescheduled all the way out to the school leadership conference that's being held on in October in the Poconos so it's just going to be part of that conference and then um there was a third one on legislative matters that was scheduled for April 13th that they're pushing back to a live webinar in June so they can include more updated budget related information and so forth and those are all you can register through my psba thank

039you Cecilia and then the last is the equity committee is there any report no there was no meeting I do have just an update to share I'd like to thank Mrs Siteman the question that Dr Ritter had asked previously about the electricity line item the software generated us a report that put everything under one electricity code so that total number of 35 556 is actually the cumulative electricity of Kutztown Elementary School middle school high school in addition to the disposal services and water and sewage services that are all purchased from the borough so the number is correct 35 500 for the month but it is for electricity for the three buildings water and sewage for the three buildings and Disposal and sewage for the three buildings so that's why I appeared larger than usual it's

040just the report pulled everything together when it when it shot um yeah if I can add to that it is all properly coded in the system to a different utility object codes it's just that when the report summarizes we'll look and see if there's anything yeah yeah [Music] so that was deceiving so we'll look and see if we can tweak the system a little bit yeah next we have our student representative report uh I believe our rep has other things going tonight so moving on to public comment on agenda items uh nobody has signed up to address the board that is present tonight uh is there anyone online uh Dr Myers [Music] moving on to uh new business then uh first item is uh Personnel uh we have uh item a is the recommendation of

041the administration that the board of school directors approve the following Personnel items and then they're listed here a one through four uh do we have a motion so uh second second Motion in a second any questions or comments regarding any of the Personnel items uh hearing none roll call please Ricky Cecilia hope yes [Music] yes yes Aaron angle I've seen Michael has yes Randy Birch yes motion carries all Personnel are approved pending receipt of all mandated uh credentials next item is Item B book donation it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors accept the generous donation to The Kutztown Elementary in Greenwich Elementary libraries of two copies of the book courageous but not contagious from Willow and summer author Arthur uh do we have a motion Ritter moves second uh

048uh hearing that now roll call please repeat yes Jeremiah yes Dennis Ritter yes Michelle Batts yes yes Aaron angle yes Michael Hess yes Cecilia Holt yes Randy Birch yes motion carries uh next item is item K UPS Network it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approved the purchase of UPS devices at a cost of 12 600 9.48 for the Kutztown Area School District's four school buildings and seven thousand eight hundred ninety nine dollars and twenty seven cents for our district office building per the attached uh do we have a motion uh motion uh in a second uh Cecilia with the second uh so Motion in a second uh any questions or comments regarding the UPS Network uh I guess one question for me is how did we cover four

049buildings or only twelve thousand in one building is just about eight thousand dollars yes to answer that part of it is e-ratable so most of that on the first on the uh the first quote is e-raidable but some of it is not so some of that actually had to go into the second world so because about e-rate works and what's appropriate for that and what's not it's not exactly that way but it's close Okay so the portion that we are putting through e-rate to twelve thousand dollars seventy percent of that will be reimbursed the rest of that cannot be put through me so even though that's a generalization as far as a twelve thousand seven thousand of each building a portion of the four buildings as far as the cards are on the other equipment

050[Music] and then I guess the other question I had as we look I understand or have understood that there's you know that we're looking at our utilization of space um and certainly we want to have our Administration folks have adequate equipment and so forth um are we is this a contract for X number of years I didn't see a set of that it's actually for equipment that will be there then or can we move it somewhere else if we want to use it somewhere else if for some reason we stopped using that building yes we can so they're battery back so they they couldn't they could be moved and we could use them relocated okay I didn't just want to be spending money and having it wasted perhaps at some point okay thank you from

051any other questions or comments regarding the UPS Network by hearing none roll call please Jeremiah yes demonstrator yes Michelle back yes uh Daria yes Aaron Israel yes Michael has yes motion carries next item item L is the wiser decisions it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approved the tuition contract agreement with wiser decisions school or a special education student effective the 2022-2023 school year at a cost of 227.44 per day per student do we have a motion uh Motion in a second any uh questions regarding the agreement with wiser decisions School thank you uh hearing none roll call please yes Aaron Abel yes Michael Huss yes Cecilia yes Jason yes Randy Birch uh yes emotion carries uh next item is item n m introduction of new business by uh

052board members uh do does anyone have new business to bring to the board the Mr President I don't it's not really a new business I just want to acknowledge with all the good news we've had uh and congratulate Caswell on a very wonderful afternoon Saturday at the middle school for our jazz festival with the other visiting schools and so forth and the performance of our two middle well three actually I missed the elementary but the middle school I did here and the high school jazz ensembles um were outstanding and they weren't in competition with the other and and that was good for the other other jazz bands as far as I was concerned they were quite excellent um yet I would Echo those comments and just a testament to the uh good job that Mr

053shirt does with the bands absolutely um any other uh new business by uh board members uh hearing none next item is public comment on non-agenda items uh again no one had signed up uh from the public that's present tonight to address the board is there anybody online uh Dr Myers yes there is one person who requested to speak okay are you are you ready so hi Robin Underwood could Stoneboro two kids in the high school I just have a general procedural question and that is generally how what is the process for students to bring their concerns to the student representative I've been coming to school board meetings for two years now and I haven't really heard many concerns coming through them so I'm wondering what the process is is there an anonymous drop box is

054there an email account um also I believe there's an alternate student and I wonder if that person's asked to come when the first one cannot I'm just generally curious about the student representative the um can't really answer whether or not the uh the alternate was asked On Any Given night like this but there have been times in the past where ultimate has shown um we will have to check with the student representative uh on exactly what process they want um I think the beginning of the year the student representative asked for students to email them but I'm not sure that that is regularly communicated that way so that's something we'll have to look into and get back to you thank you was there anyone else online Dr Myers that asked to address the boards no

055there is not um moving on to Iceberg I actually saw that I'd like to address the board with you know sure oh we get lots of emails uh when things come up that folks don't necessarily agree with completely in our community um most times are very respectful well thought out even if I don't necessarily agree with the standpoint or the review point within the last week or my mailbox I received the obligible letter it was my name and address was type and then Scotch taped on the letter there was no return address I opened a letter the first thing I looked at was who signed it there's no signature all of our communication is is uh available through Freedom of Information Act so I want to enter this letter into the record that I received

056dear Jason if you weren't so stupid I would feel sorry for you people like you have watched Fox News and listened to the serial Live Career criminal loading it back so often that your brains have turned to garbage I'm gonna change that word for purposes now you've turned into Garden variety Nazis you want to start Banning books that offend your sensibilities when you start rounding up Jews and shipping them to the camps you and the other deplorables can't feel living in the 21st century you'd feel more comfortable living in the 19th century when white people could do whatever they wanted you can handle the truth and you're going to make sure anyone else especially students can't read about the truth I hope you don't have children God forbid they would grow up to be political

057minded I mean Andrew Falls like you so my first thought was there's been a lot of talk about banning books Mr 10 child how many how many copies of two degrees do we have in the school approximately 100 are there any students that have been prohibited from obtaining a copy of the book reading if they want to now are there any students being discouraged when reading the book voluntarily no nothing I'm aware no so is this book banned in our schools no okay so the fact that this book is not mandatory reading does not equate to it being taken away from students the fact that this book is not mandatory reading does not make me or anyone else a Nazi statements like those are ludicrous so I'm not sure who the knuckle knucklehead is that

058was trying to or what they were trying to gain by sending me this letter other than the scare intimidate me or whatever um but we will run into times when folks in the community will not agree with me or any other board members I would just hope that we as a community can refrain from sending pieces of garbage like this thanks I'd like to say something to that respect as well uh Mr cook and I uh it's no secret to disagree on many things uh I were to agreements I hope I've always been respectful there are things we agree on I have never questioned his motives I believe his concern for our students and the educational process is genuine in fact I've been very impressed by that since you've been on the board I think

059he's made some very positive contributions disagreement to what politics should should be about um I'd also like to suggest to Mr that uh almost 34 years in uh serving as a public official between school board and board Council I open up those letters look for the signature and if I don't see anything I throw it out they're not worth reading yeah that's good advice thank you um and I would just acknowledge that again uh Jason and I disagree on some issues but as you can see from the votes uh all of us as a board probably 95 to 97 of the items um we deal with we're in agreement it's for the best for our students those kinds of letters yeah have no place um we need to treat each other as residents of this

060community and we come with disagreements that's what makes a community interesting and you know what it means to work things out through appropriate processes then you know we we live with the outcomes of those processes and I think to use that kind of language to be derogatory of each other gets us nowhere so I'm very sorry we received a letter like that inappropriate so with that uh no one else had uh signed up to address the board tonight uh moving on to our informational items uh we had our condensed three board summary report and our cafeteria fund report uh upcoming public meetings in an informative dates uh March 27th is the budget and finance committee meeting that is at 7 pm at the middle school and by Zoom uh on April 3rd is a workshop

061school board meeting that is at 7 30 here at the high school in bison and that brings us to a conclusion of our agenda and I'll be looking for a motion to adjourn ing second all in favor say aye aye that concludes our meeting for tonight thank you for
