the leadership of it came well it was designed around the fifth grade science fair with the leadership from mr mrs ashman uh dr meyers with a great deal of support from the technology department allowing many teachers many students to highlight some of those opportunities there was also artwork on display from every from every grade and the jazz band performed earlier in the evening in the words of a fifth grader who i just sat next to and said what are you guys doing here tonight said having fun that was that was his reply so in the words of the fifth grader they were here to have fun we did have several concerned citizens who were worried about the smoke coming off the stage but that was a part of an event as a little bit of

smoke trickled out to the side it was planned and no one was in danger just having a good time so thank you to all involved student staff and leadership from mr mrs ashman and dr the creating the steam fair event just this weekend the odyssey of the mine state competition we had several teams competing but to highlight most importantly the team who plays third and will advance to the world finals in iowa in late may this will be the second kutztown team to advance to worlds the first question team to advance the worlds was the high school team four years ago the middle school team consists of richard johnson jocelyn diffenbaugh peyton brown jillian rager and clara schnorr they're coached by doug wonder johnson congratulations to the middle school team they will prepare to represent

kutztown and the state of pennsylvania at the world competition in iowa at the end of may we'll have more information about that as we advance closer to that date and probably bring the team out here to share a little bit what the winning competition meant for them and finally this weekend if you did not get an opportunity to stop and see the addams family musical then shame on you it was a fantastic show but i was there friday night and friday saturday and sunday the performances were very very well attended it's an extremely dedicated student and staff performance a lot of adversity for a group for the theater arts group really did not get to have a musical the way they traditionally do last year and then this year due to some delays with the

auditorium had to delay their traditional performance in the fall to the spring but with some fantastic leadership by mrs edelmoyer and many many family uh volunteers in addition to dedicated students put on just a fantastic performance that was uh just just funny at times it was it was exciting to see the auditorium filled and a significant amount of talent on display congratulations to everyone involved because it truly is a event that requires significant community support all the time that goes into preparing for a musical so congratulations to all and i hope you had an opportunity to enjoy it thank you mr burch that's our good news for this evening thank you for christian and just uh congratulations to our odyssey of the mind teams the science olympiad teams our art students our music scholarship recipients

and all our athletes that are starting the spring season it is wonderful to see activities being done in the district again the steam fair uh looked very well attended and very popular great job by our teachers and administrators responsible for putting that together and the the school play was uh was wonderful it was uh great to see the uh the new uh auditorium uh jam packed full of people uh to see the kids they they really did a great job so just uh thank you very much uh our students are excelling throughout the district uh next item is our student representative report and i believe mr dunn is joining us hello good evening cooper i didn't come in i was sick today so sorry about that i just wanted to uh say that we at

the musical appreciate all support i was very impressed with the elementary school students from greenwich and kutztown and with the middle school students with the way that they behaved when we had our assemblies to perform for them so we were happy with that and everybody on that team is very uh proud of being a part of that and we appreciate all the support and also having been at the steam fair i'm glad that the students got to enjoy that as well other than that i don't have any uh updates from other students in the district so that's all i have thank you oh thank you get well soon can you say that again i said uh thank you cooper and get well soon thanks thank you you're welcome uh next uh item on our agenda

is uh public comment on agenda items and we have uh one person that has signed up uh jennifer uh coffinger uh jennifer kaufinger from kutztown um i believe the new mission statement and vision statement are on the agenda for tonight qrik yes yes okay so um the new district mission statement says to to grow and empower uh as empowered contributors to the global community and excuse me the business statement says to maximize potential embrace change and create a future and personally i just want to thank you for putting it in writing that you have abdicated your role as an educator to our children in favor of the edicts of crt dei and sel to my daughter and this was her and she's one of your students so this is you know somebody that you're actually

supposed to be working for here um sappy stupid and a billion other awful things you need to educate our children that's what you need to do everything else will fall into place if you just go back to doing that thank you [Music] okay uh no one else had signed up but is there anyone online uh dr meyers that uh wish to comment okay so uh moving on to the business first item is uh personnel and uh the one i would like to take separately so personnel a1 it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approve the following personnel items and it's the acceptance with regret of the resignation due to retirement of laurie arndt as an elementary title one teacher at kutztown elementary school effective july 2nd 2022. do we

have a motion motion do we have a second second a motion in a second any uh questions or uh [Music] i would i would just like to make a comment um congratulations mrs arndt on 34 years with the kutztown area school district and she is you know a leader in the kutztown elementary school community and school community as a whole that cannot truly cannot be replaced you know when the she always has kids but also as a leader amongst her peers when we need a strong teacher voice to advocate what is best for students mrs arndt is one of the top of the list and she will be sorely missed but very happy for her you know and to celebrate a fantastic career so um thank you mrs arndt and we'll try to steal as

much wisdom from you as we can in the meantime i would just uh echo those uh sentiments uh 30 plus years with the uh district and uh we have a lot to thank her for for all she's done for the school any other questions or comments a hearing none roll call please ricky aldarian yes aaron angle yes michael house yes celia holt yes jason cook yes jeremiah light yes dennis ritter yes michelle batts yes randy birch yes motion carries and then for personnel we have uh personal items a two and three um that we'll do together uh looking for a motion uh second second uh motion questions or comments regarding these remaining personnel items on roll call please aaron angle yes michael hess yes cecilia holt yes jason yes jeremiah light yes yes randy burch

yes motion carries uh personnel is approved pending receipt of all mandated credentials next item item b is policy maintenance we have two here i think we'll probably take these uh separately so first is policy maintenance recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approved the following the approval of the second reading and adoption of the following policy policy 101 mission statement do we have a motion so moved uh motion second second motion in a second any uh questions or comments regarding a policy 101 mission statement uh hearing none uh just roll call please randy yeah bear with me one second i mean i do i appreciate that it was pointed out the mission statement revision statement i do want to point out we now have added the shared values which states that we

believe all students lifelong learning is essential individuals must possess a sense of purpose and belief in their own potential for excellence collaboration among the home school district and community community positive positively impacts learning critical thinking in the acquisition and applications to success um i agree still agree that the mission statement is on the weak side direction sure the education piece has been lifted front and center in the about a section and it and as are stated as our values i'll support this mission statement now with the vision statement and shared values as one package and uh all three are on our policy our mission statement policy now correct statement policy correct um next time that a group is brought together of stakeholders i think we can do a better job with the mission statement itself

[Music] but i am happy that we have included the shared values thank you mr any other questions or comments how frequently can we amend this vision statement is there a set there's no set timeline when we can amend you know such items it's the comprehensive plan timeline sort of dictates that but while that is a part of the process the district can initiate a process anytime they wish from anything else [Music] uh hearing none roll call please michael house yes cecilia holt yes jason yes jeremiah dennis ritter yes michelle bats yes aldarian yes aaron angle yes randy burch yes motion carries next item for policy maintenance b two it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approve the following the approval of the first reading of policy zero zero eight

organizational uh chart uh do we have a motion greater motion in a second questions or comments regarding the uh organizational chart and again this is just for first reading but uh roll call please cecilia holt yes jason yes jeremiah light yes dennis schroeder yes michelle batts yes alder aaron angle yes michael hess andy birch yes motion carries next item is uh item c high school bleachers it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approved the purchase of 80 bleacher seats in the high school gymnasium from cm icon loud for a cost of 6866 dollars do we have a motion so moved second motion in a second any uh questions or comments uh regarding the purchase of the 80 uh bleacher seats is this to replace existing or is this an

addition to this is to replace some existing that need there at that point of repair so there's an ongoing maintenance process and every year they're going to be replacing a certain number and they move the seats to make sure that the ones that are down front that get broken more often are replaced so that it's safe for people sitting there so this is part of the standard maintenance process described by mr bobenstein questions or comments receipts a hearing none roll call please yes jeremiah light yes dennis ritter yes yes aldarian yes aaron engel yes michael hess cecilia holt yes randy yes motion carries next item is item d cisco duo uh license agreement it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approved the agreement [Music] at a cost of do

we have a motion so moved second a motion in a second any questions or comments for the cisco license agreement uh hearing none now roll call please jeremiah light yes dennis ritter yes michelle bach aldarian yes yes cecilia holt yes jason yes yes motion carries next item item e is the jamf connect agreement it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors extend the agreement with jamf to include jamf connect of two thousand seven hundred fifty dollars do we have a motion second a motion in a second do we have any questions or comments regarding the jamf connect agreement a hearing none roll paul please dennis ritter yes michelle batts yes al darian yes aaron engel yes michael hass yes cecilia hulk yes jason yes right yes randy birch yes motion

carries next item is item f uh it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approved empowered facilities management llc for consulting services of the fmx work order system at our dollars an hour do we have a motion so moved motion second questions uh concerning the uh agreement for consulting services with empowered facility llc so what exactly is this and what does this company do so fmx is the online system that we've been using since um the summer of well last summer we started we transitioned over um you know if you were requesting a facility to you say you wanted to use the comments for something a teacher did or even if a community member did they would go through the athletics office but the system that tracks all that is

fmx but fmx has many additional uses which it will allow the work order system through the maintenance department to be funneled through there it is funneled through there now but they can use it to track preventative maintenance tasks one of the main functions for well we can manage all that on our own one of the main functions for the consulting services would be to upload and enter existing district information and equipment and you know related maintenance documents into fmx so that we have it um rolled out over the course of the next year or so so they can help us build everything that needs to be in fmx so that all those departments that that use it would have as every bit of information they would possibly need so it's going to help richard kind

of organize some of the processes that they have in a better manner even than they are now so is this going to be an ongoing thing with them like yearly or just i mean really it's the intent of this proposal is just for us to use station hours to get the system built up to its full capacity we've been using fmx for a year but just for the ticketing items and scheduling of facilities so this particular agreement's just for that 55 an hour rate as needed for consulting services how much time [Music] i don't um you know it's something that really that's not it's really hard to predict you know i know that i trust um you know our team tries to do as much as they can on their end um but as richard's

trying to build to greater efficiency that some of that consulting will be beneficial so you know we could always put a cap on it um or you know we could report back in a month or two and see how much we've used to kind of keep you apprised of that um i don't anticipating it being very significant but you never know i guess what you run into in building together a system so then uh maybe at the end of may to come back and report how much we've used thus far and maybe we have a better idea how much we would need at that point okay any other questions or comments uh hearing none roll call please michelle batts yes darian yes aaron engel yes michael hess yes cecilia holt yes jason cook yes jeremiah

light yes dennis ritter yes randy birch yes motion carries next item is a donation to kutztown fire company it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approve a donation of one hundred and fifty dollars to the kutztown fire company in appreciation of their donation of equipment to the kutztown area school district uh do we have a motion so moved second a motion in a second any uh questions or comments regarding the donation to the fire company um and i'm not opposed to the i think i talked to this last year i would encourage us to probably do a little more every year we get a notice from our fire company and lions about the cost to equip a firefighter and 150 dollars seems very minimalistic and i know for a

public institution but if they had to come here and and fight a fire for us and they do donate work at our stadium light cycle um i just would like to see as we've been doing i think short of forever and we'd like to see that grow so i'm going to put out a motion to amend this to 250 if somebody seconds second yeah so at this point we have a motion to amend the original motion to increase the donation to the kutztown to the amount of 250 questions or comments regarding the motion to amend now uh comment or questions from the public regarding the motion to amend to increase the donation to 250. i mean it's obviously a relatively nominal uh increase but uh does that create any uh problems uh if we were

to increase that no the fire company are great partners for us that assist with all kinds of events you know starting with football games and other events throughout the year so the raising of the 250 i do not believe causes any issues okay um so we'll be having motions first will just be the motion to amend and then we have to go back even though it seems repetitive and do it for the actual donation amount uh assuming that there's going to be a consensus for the uh amendment but any other questions or comments regarding the motion to amend to increase the donation to 250. okay so hearing none uh first roll call then is on just the motion to amend to increase that amount to 250 dollars uh roll paul please aldarian yes aaron angle

yes michael house yes cecilia holt yes jason cook yes jeremiah light yes dennis michelle bats yes randy birch yes that motion carries so now we'll be doing the actual approval for the recommendation that we approve a donation of 250 to the kutztown fire company in appreciation of their uh donation of time and equipment to the kutztown comment or questions regarding this uh hearing none please aaron angle yes michael hess yes cecilia holt yes jason yes jeremiah light yes yes michelle batts yes aldarian yes randy birch yes motion carries next item is item h introduction of board members does uh do any board members have any uh new business to bring before the board highlight um i was going to mention that the superintendent's report but decided to wait um i i thoroughly enjoyed the musical

this past week and uh my only concern continues to be our and i know we had some unusual problems especially this time but our sound system uh in our auditorium just does not serve our young people well there were times when uh some very excellent singing uh got distorted because of the pieces and and i don't know if it's we don't adjust the mics quickly enough to con stronger voice at a given time so i just hope as we move forward it was it's been it was a problem when i was on the board the last time and [Music] i was under the impression we had done something to fix that and apparently didn't and it wasn't part of the contract when we redid the auditorium [Music] uh in early uh well yeah last year

um so i hope you know we really do look at that and and give our young people that are in band music musicals uh drama choirs the kind of sound system that will serve them well and [Music] display their talents the best yeah yes uh i mean we will be for the whole system um i believe you know just the historical piece there were some upgrades to the microphones and that system since when you mentioned the last time you were on the board of course but it was heading into the spring project and at that time those on staff was insufficient but there's been a lot of use since then and you know we [Music] take a look at it here and making a recommendation going forward but the musical was awesome and the thing

that really made it became very apparent rather quickly the the students just loved what they were doing had fun they really did they really bought into that musical and i think the directors and all of the folks that worked with them so kudos to all any other board members have any uh new business to bring yeah i do just have one comment and kind of in a similar light to what pastor ritter had said um i think just as a district we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the teachers and all the parents who volunteered their time to make sure that the musical um without you know a hitch or without any major hitches but probably the biggest uh debt of gratitude is owed to leanne zettelmoyer when the musical got pushed back to

the spring we didn't have a musical director and she really stepped in um and from everything that i've witnessed and people i've talked to have just done a tremendous job running this musical connecting with the kids actually having two groups of students going through because we had two different groups of leads for this musical she just did an amazing job i really hope you will come back next year for us but personally from me and and i can hopefully speak for the rest of the school board a big thank you to liam's edelweire for doing that for our students but thank you mr hess any other new business uh hearing none uh we'll move on to uh item number seven public comment on non-agenda and we do have one person that had signed up for

that uh joan baldwin thank you um first i wanted to thank mr tim chattan for having a couple weeks ago thank you for coming yeah i attended i was glad to be there um and also the shared part of the new policy that we have shared values i think that's great um i'm coming here to ask for your help mr chinchatten okay i was at the meeting i was talking about parents in the community having support from the schools or supporting the schools i have a parent who over a month ago asked me to work with her son i worked with him this summer in reading and he did not go back to second grade this year needing any help so it worked over the summer which is great so they came to me and

asked me to help in my math and of course i said i would slide down for second grade and we've asked for a meeting with with the principal and the special ed teacher or the i guess his sport teacher i guess it's laurie arndt the classroom teacher the guidance counselor they said we can only meet on certain days and that's fine we gotta finally got a date after two weeks i was told the principal would not be there and they had a request for the principal so we thought that was kind of odd so the meeting was supposed to be last week and the last minute they canceled it and the mother has contacted the parent the teacher several times asking to rebook it and of course up until tonight nothing has happened so it's

been a month a month a month for a second grader that's a long time we fall very far behind in a short amount of time so i'm asking your help mr tim chat and if he helps out the meeting if he would attend it's your second grader okay and i'll get as much information and i'll be in touch with the parent you can be in touch with me as well well i mean wait the way that works is that i know how it works but it's not working that way they're not contacting the parents i'm not replying back the principal i asked the principal to be there she said she wouldn't come so i mean the guidance counselor is there awesome teachers there gloria aren't going to be there i was going to be there

so but the way way advocacy works in school is that for a parent you know an advocate which i think we're speaking the same language on that is that i would communicate with the parent they're welcome to invite you to any conversation we have but i have to communicate with a parent it shouldn't take uh yeah i'd say i don't this is the first i'm hearing of any of it but i said i you know in the names of transparency i think there should be like policy of how we do this and how the parents can be contacted within a short amount of time yeah i mean a month is a long time listen i'll gather as much information i can and be in contact with the parent and then if they wish to have

you join you can join us wait to hear from her tomorrow excellent thank you thank you is there anyone online dr meyers so at this point we would be moving on to our informational items we had student activity reports for the middle school in high school we also had the student enrollment for march of 2022 upcoming public meetings and informative dates april 11th is our policy committee meeting that is at 6 00 p.m at the middle school and by zoom also on april 11th is facilities and extracurricular committee meeting that is at 7pm at the middle school and by zoom april 19th which just as a reminder to everyone that is a but april 19th is the monthly school board meeting that is at 7 30 p.m at the middle school and by zoom and

april 25th is our next budget and finance meeting that is at 7 00 pm here at the middle school and by zoo and with that i would be looking for a motion to adjourn so moved second second all in favor say i i and that concludes tonight's meeting thank you everybody for
