012johnson dennis ritter yes carl nalty yes so approved next is item h introduction of new business by board members anyone from the board one thing forward i have a quick one um one of my last opportunities to give a shout out to ours and the staff um for the extraordinary work that they've been doing under these i was just reminded of this yesterday my son was having trouble with some math and it was last night sunday night um i had all this teacher and i wasn't expecting to hear back but five minutes on a sunday night my son's teacher was writing back and offering us to you know what that means is we've got our teachers spending their sunday nights uh doing work and checking their emails and everything and you know in this day

013and time i think uh that that's important to have that acknowledge stand up this might be my last times behind this table to say it but a great faculty and a great staff here thank you mr johnson anyone else okay and we will move to the public comment on non-agenda items few people would like to speak so i actually come forward state your name you have five minutes to speak we'll get the microphone pulled here and we will just good evening jackie bridges kutztown um we have some kind us i know their voice is just 100 we have some concerns about sexual assault in the school or alleged sexual school and what happens after um they're really kind of being dis ignored i think there needs to be some follow-up for them victims type of

014counseling awareness and just feel like you know somebody cares they're really being dismissed a lot here and i know there's always you know things that go in place with this and you have to wait for court hearings forever but in the mean something really needs to be done for these kids thank you finger jennifer kauffinger kutztown um at the last board meeting when we were discussing or when you were discussing policy 809 i heard a lot of phrases like i interpret it to be it is intended to be i assume it will be this way i guarantee you that though you might assume and intend for those things or interpret for those things the next people up here down the road might not i'm suggesting to you that if you are hell-bent on passing policy

015809 make your language extremely specific because everything that you don't intend to happen will and it not good so make your language very specific your intentions they might be good but they won't be carried out by the next people thank you dan whisper dan wismer uh from greenwich i have two kids currently in kutztown um most of you guys know me from previous correspondences and um i've had some communication guys and i really do appreciate all of that i've gotten um so cut me off obviously this is gonna go because i didn't prepare anything um i saw uh earlier today that there were two books that were found in the school library um which honestly i couldn't even finish going through i know the very first came in front of you guys about um critical

016race theory i know it was kind of new and fresh so i just want to make sure that everybody here is fully aware of what is in the library um it's graphic there's the first page shows that it's rated as adult content um and then it also shows that in destiny in the kutztown memory i don't know i i'm going to leave this on with you carl maybe there there's also some other copies that um we came up with they were blocked but i think for the the fact that would be best to have those um but that's the only copies that i have of of that um the thing that i kind of want to address here is uh i definitely had a um a lot of times when people mentioned like socialism and

017feminism and things like there's often a knee-jerk reactive retract from that and i definitely was like that um so i picked up some books and um there's a lot of quotes that i have on here but i just i can't i'm not i don't feel comfortable reading it in this setting even though the kids left so i will be emailing you guys from some things and correct me i know a lot of you guys in academia with doctorates if i mispronounce something i'd correct me um but there's some the one that i am quote is from uh karl marx uh critique of heigl's philosophy of the right um says the empire was brought to its knees by sexual licentiousness so could ruination be brought to the west through the breakdown of all sexual restraint and

018the abolition family um there are more specific quote um that is not comfortable in reading right now um but a lot of them come out of the hurt school which is where the my understanding is from my reading kind of like the heart began in the united actually really kind of st at how explicitly these were laid out and what's going on right now and how a lot of these things are falling into place and this i think is um another exam because um a lot of these things in line with trying to children um so i i don't know you know i know this is kind of like a question answer type thing uh or should an answer type thing i know there was a little bit feedback um in prior meetings particularly when

019um we were virtual so i don't know if anybody wants to chime in um i know particularly you know people who are we're running if anybody i'm in it's always good for for people to know where we stand on this i know miss holt made it clear that and things in kutztown um so that's kind of where i'm at i mean i think i can speak for the board that we were alerted of those same books this evening and have asked the administration to investigate they're inappropriate in investing here in the library if i could add something to um just as a history professor and i teach medieval history i teach ancient greek um the idea that wrong uh because hedonism and all that uh actually isn't it marx was writing almost 200 years ago

020about these things and he was basing his conclusions on the roman empire from another historian named edward gibbon who was writing at the end of the 18th century and um back then there's no such thing as archaeology um a lot of the records and stuff are years ago of how the roman empire ended um is is so i'm only bringing that up because uh that quote from marx is is outdated as far as like why the roman empire fell and um so i don't i don't think there's a strong connection between um some of these uh gender and sexuality views i don't see there's not a strong connection between that and the fall of the roman empire um that that's my yeah no that's fine that's fine but we also have to consider these are

021people writing about history 200 years that don't have nearly as much of a understanding of history as historians do today i mean history not even really a field of study back then okay i'm just speaking as like you know so this is as a and there there is no connection with that whatever marx had in mind or anyone but um you know that there is no connection between um this lastness and the fall of the roman empire and administratively uh mr whismur so just notified of the concern this evening and so this would fall under policy 19.1 objection to instructional material there's a procedure where we take the book off the shelf we're out of the classroom situation for 10 days and then there's a process we follow to evaluate it so um today we'll

022go find out if it's in the library and then follow that process from there well i mean we're going to follow this process for the intensity and um i investigated and handled appropriately move to jerry seaver good evening jerry seaver kutztown i'm here to talk about this book it's another one of the books this is checked out by a student and i've been reading this this is pornography my ex-husband addiction to pornography and i did extensive research in pornography and it has incest it doesn't matter okay it's it's gay but even if it was heterosex it's still pornography it describes it explicitly would you like me to read some of it here then you began to moan slightly i took a step back i didn't know what it was about to happen and then it

023did you immediately spoil it in front of me i was very unaware of what sex in the time merely because i stayed from it i didn't like girls that way and the first thing folks would ask you is if you inquired about sex was whether you were effing or not watching you ejaculate was shocking i remember you telling me it's semen one day he is around you should do this until you get this feeling you never felt before lost i looked at you and i said i can't do that i'm not all you laugh matt you are old enough go ahead and try it by this point fear had overcome me and so many lines have been crossed that i finally said i don't want to do it well that bed with me we went

024back-ups and both went to bed you rolled over to face the wall and i sat there for hours you were still in bed behind me but watching tv i rolled over and looked at you and he said for our promise the secrecy of become very normal two weeks after that night i masturbated the time and you i was old enough to experience your feelings of what i would later learn called an orgasm and that's not even did you say the book is checked out yes it is it's checked out this book is checked out from our library and it has even more stuff in here than that well i think it's this same approach we were just alerted if you wish you would sooner based on the fact that you've been reading it knew it

025was in the library it would have been good this is not the book that was involved it's checked out check it out um okay but if you knew the library wish you would have brought we we did tonight there's a whole list of books that any one of you could have looked up and looked into and seen what kind of books were in the library there's the other one genderqueer it's all cartoon of sexual acts show it so i think it's the same approach that we took with the right we've alerted the administration we will pull the book find out uh find out if it's there pull the book and then investigate as to why it's to handle it appropriate so it's inappropriate for for absolutely it's it's not for for any chil this has

026been found in in elementary school libraries across the country at kutztown not at kutztown but other other states they found it in the elementary school so let's go through our books and see what kind of in our own i mean isn't tim check and aren't you responsible for our resources oh i am i don't know every book and whose response doing the and then ordering them there's a curriculum review process for books that are reviewed i'm not directly involved in reviewing every library involved okay then the library needs to be looked at very closely it'll be investigated okay thank you all right and we want to we want to know what happens is there anyone online dr meyers you mommy with that we'll move to item 18 and sign the log just come forward state

027your name please carrie westner um i'm bringing up the mask issue issue again um this year when kutztown made their policy and stuff and [Music] we were in well from the elementary school anyway we're in school five days we made some you know the things i was like proud to be in this school district because yes our school right we're keeping them in school okay they're mad things like that but we were like above everybody else everybody else is still hybrid or you know doing things differently and this year you just are like screw it we're not you know gonna try and it's any more normalcy or anything like that we are like a lot of other schools have more link policies that and it's just enough my little kid in second grade goes to

028school and it's like prison she's she's not allowed to talk at lunch unless they're sitting next to her it's ridiculous they don't have any freedom they have 20 minutes out on the playground dogs a little bit while they're in go talk to anybody except for who's next to them that's ridiculous let them begin [Music] like why can't they just go into this lunch room and sit down they want to they have like no friends no connections there's somebody next they just don't get along with too man that's who you sit next to and talk to all day long it's sick i've changed the policies i noticed that when numbers are going down again loosen up a little bit like is there anyone else hearing number one item eight informational items in the past have the
