yes carl nelty yes so approved next we'll move to item four communications and reports we'll start with the superintendent's report mr tim chattan thank you mr nolte uh the superintendent's good news report with a variety of good news items just from the past few days including several i'm losing my present here when i go into it so including several items and it's starting with our last on friday with the homecoming events which there was a long list of homecoming events um including spirit days throughout the school week for students and staff each class had a hallway decorating competition and ain't got stuck going back pardon me i lost i lost my uh screen share honest there for a second chat would you like me to share it yeah if that's easier it might that might

be easier on this one dr myers thank you i appreciate your help thank you that looks like an old one dr myers wrong one sorry there you go thank you you present just get to that first slide on homecoming again you know following the hallway decorating contest we had the staff students and staff cook out after school mr flicker reported about 210 students came through um participating in the cookout sort of on a rotating basis that was followed by the quit centering school district education foundation alumni event in the tent just outside of the stadium with some alumni enjoying refreshments hosted by the education foundation uh seven o'clock we had to kick off for the high school football game versus hamburg where you know our our football team competed right from the beginning of the

start break from the beginning of the game executing their game plan to kind of run some clock early on and make some big plays led to a 2020 tie at halftime and ultimately falling to hamburg but after a great effort by our team uh at halftime we were treated to the uh kutztown area high school band in addition to the homecoming court um looking at the members of the homecoming court kind of going uh back and forth on the image there we have taylor conroy reagan loeb caitlyn blue backs in the ott and olivia wanner um cooper dunn andrew frederick alexander uh konobelsky lennon nyman and maxwell whitson on the homecoming court it was a beautiful night got a little cold i think by the time halftime came for those out on the field but

it was uh just a beautiful night and finally having our king and queen crowned um you want to advance dr meyers we have um our homecoming king and queen our very own board representative cooper dunn and taylor conroy um we're crowned king and queen at halftime so congratulations to all members of the court to football team the band everyone who participated on that friday night and then mostly cooper and taylor congratulations on your homecoming crowning victory following the homecoming game we had a fifth quarter homecoming dance that was very well attended mr flicker reported it was uh better attendant than probably any uh previous homecoming dance he could recall in that same tent that the education foundation uh hosted him previously just from seeing some pictures from that night it looked like a really good

time and followed up with some boys and girls soccer games and on saturday so there was really a little bit over the course of 24 hours events that had so many students just on campus celebrating homecoming ended up being a really really great homecoming for students staff and guests as well mr tim chattan real quick yeah uh conor's uh online with us tonight um could the board make a request that he wear his crown during tonight's meeting cooper uh i think i don't think we need a vote for that i think that request is made by dr johnson sounds like seconded by dr dennery and cooper if you want to wear your crown um [Laughter] certainly uh we'll assume that taylor is wearing her crown at the same time as well so at another time

and place i don't know if cooper went to get the crown but we'll see him come back on there the berks county uh athletic association girls golf champion dr myers congratulations to the 2021 bcia girls golf champion uh emily barkley defeated hamburg freshman erica gerner an exciting one-hole playoff by saving her best hold for the birdie um according to coaches emily you know didn't exactly play her best round but stayed in it to compete in you know one of those amazing one-time events in a play a playoff hole congratulations to emily you know after competing on that district level on the county level and then getting to go to districts last year emily came right back and won that championship so congratulations to emily and to the the golf team some additional honors for golf

dr meyers probably it's easy uh to say that once you win first place you get to move on to district competition so emily placing first advances to the district 2a golf championships on october 8th and in addition alexander rau placed fifth place at the bcia boys 2a golf championships and advances to the district 2a golf championship as well on october october 8th congratulations to both alexander and emily and to both both teams for having a great season that's doctor an myers cross-country event the paul short invitational lehigh university the boys team ranked 17 out of 40th with a series of great placements over there as you can see on the right hand side and a variety of personal records and prs from you know jack cornfield led the pack at 1704 but personal uh record

from phoenix kellogg we see rylan ebner and jake justin justin ashman cory gilbert cooper dunn radon appears again um this evening's events but three prs out of the group and a great showing uh on the girls side lily asplund with the personal record 2136 sophia arnold emma newton and dynasty flicker with again two more pr's just a great event i believe um also at that same event over at lehigh that our team was able to see um 2021 graduate mitchell bret run as well for shippensburg university and and perform quite well on a very large stage for across the country so congratulations to all the runners golfers and a continued great fall season for all of our teams and that is our good news report mr nolte and thank you for the assist there dr

myers welcome thank you mr tim chattan anyone have any questions for mr jim chattan not not a question i was at the homecoming game and just was very pleased with our football team and i thought the band did an excellent job at halftime too they they really presented well i as a former band member in my high school i was proud of him i wanted to pitch in and add that at lehigh we also got to see erica moriarty run for ku and uh 2018 graduate rachel mccoach ran from moravian so she was there as well so we had three collegiate runners from kutztown at lehigh that that on friday we had a good race that's great thanks for sharing that cooper it's great to hear anyone else any comments okay hearing none we'll move

to the discussion item of the uh on the agenda um there's a discussion item a is october board meeting platforming consideration of the pennsylvania department of health order so i'll open that up for any board discussion on that item the the intent is how to proceed um for the meeting on october the 18th i would believe october the 18th and then beyond that so look for some board feedback and cooper has his crown on look good cooper so um board discussion i just went through and we probably would add that the yesterday october 18th but also october 11th for the committee conference so just i'm sorry correct october 11th this would be the meeting after this evening i'm sorry thank you for correcting me um mr tim chattan looking for any discussion um from the

board i think we have a few options we we should we should talk through we have the option of uh remaining virtual we have an option of going back live um in a format where that we handle the the school board business on school grounds i think we have some pretty clear direction from the district attorney mr adams as to how to handle the enforcement of the masking which i can cover if anyone asks and then i guess there would be a just a possible option of off-site if we wanted to cover any school business off-site but that would be a board discretion so i'll leave it up to the board to discuss and and someone would like to to make any kind of directional movement um i'd just like to make a quick note

that if the committee meetings next week were to see some sort of disruption because of some sort of protest or something like that we lose that time we don't have the option of resolving the situation and then continuing on um the committee meetings well at least the first one is is only scheduled for an hour and if if we were to lose a lot of time with a uh disruption in that meeting i just think that's something we need to consider right we might want to consider the committee meetings separate from a board meeting so i think that holistically we can all agree that there's a lot it's a lot easier to have discussion in person i think it's i don't know for myself there's a lot of zoom fatigue right being on zoom all

the time i think the preference is certainly to be in person where you can have also some of the conversations after the meeting whether it be with um you know attendees or other board members etc and i think that if if we can find a way to do it um in a in a way that brings us back together we need to do that and i i think that we have the clear direction from the solicitor um we also have other advice from not other advice but some other you know direction in terms of you know what our our next steps need to be in order to make it happen so i think that that uh you know if we can make this happen in person it would certainly be an ideal situation over doing

zoom um just for the record michelle i i completely agree and i also want to go back in person as quickly as possible um my only concern is just wasting another evening like what happened last month with a policy and curriculum meeting we're already behind uh because of that and that's only my concern so like you said if we can make it happen i just think that also needs to be part of the the calculus in uh coming up with a plan to move forward and meet in person well my my concern the last time i think as i expressed about going in person was i didn't hear what the um steps were going to be for re enforcing compliance with the order but but now i think we have some direction in that regard

with from the district attorney's office uh john adams um with regard to how to handle the um folks that are not complying with the mask mandate so i i think we all agree um most of us agree that you know certainly going in person is the ideal and again my only concern the last time was that i didn't hear or understand i guess what position the board was going to take with regard to non-compliance but if we intend to follow the district attorney's guidance then i think that resolves my uh concern about going back to in person so chuck i i certainly agree with uh the stance that we need to go back in person and i think because you know so board members are aware right the the the absolute direction that the board

has received um i should say the board has received that local police have received from um district attorney adams is that the the mass mandate enforcing the mass mandate occurs and uh people need to abide by that if they don't they will be asked to put on a mask if they refuse the police need to take the next steps which would be to remove someone from the meeting and um you would hope that you'd hope that people would abide by it simply because we are forced to do it by the governor but the you know the police the police are would ask someone to to mask if they wouldn't they would be removed from the the uh from the meeting place based on unwanted trespassing so i really hope that that wouldn't come to that

at all but that that is that's the ramification of having a meeting in place in the clear direction from the district attorney berks county is what the steps would be so that's that's i think that's the ramifications just all board members are aware i just like to echo the same sentiment that in-person meetings are far more useful uh but the reason we went virtual was not to hide anything not to try to do things that the public wasn't aware of but because we were trying to avoid a confrontation i think we still would hope to avoid a confrontation people need to realize you know we tell our kids in school we tell kids when we're parenting you don't have to like the rules you just have to obey them i think that applies to adults

as well and i would just hope everyone who comes to a meeting will behave in a mature way that we can conduct business as we had been doing i am certainly all in faith are very in favor of back in person out of a sense of precaution because my wife is uh anticipating some surgery in the near future i will probably be coming in virtual for the next two meetings the the committee meetings in the mid-month board meeting so i just want folks to understand that i'm not saying one thing and doing another without a good reason within my own family i need to be sure that i stay as safe as possible any board members yeah i'd like i'd like to make a motion that that we've returned to in-person meetings beginning october 11th

i'll second that promotion the second any further discussion by the board just like to suggest that if we need to uh perhaps we can extend the time of our committee meetings nothing to do with the motion just as a procedural item as i think eric's uh concern is well founded well if you want to move facilities to be the first meeting because that one usually moves within the allotted time and then policy and curriculum can go afterwards michelle if you're willing to do that i'll second that amended motion that we would flip those two committee meetings next week as an add to your motion so procedurally we're not bound to keep it in any certain order i'm just asking that question no the committee no things are largely advertised yeah we would advertise it that

way but the committees are largely advisory you know committees to the board um they're public meetings of course but there's no structure that we you know we need to follow we need to post it as is so i would recommend the board decide about what they'd like to do next week as an individual decision before we start moving meetings around i think i think that's an important space to take how we how we act next week is i believe is independent of the time which meeting occurs so i would just encourage that we stick with the the amen the excuse me the emotion that has been been made motion and second my opinion on that i believe that that would get us to the quickest decision point for that piece well we went virtual which

was only intended to be temporary anyway and that was action due to people not uh putting a mask on and just flat out refusing to obey the mandate from the department of health assuming that people can now be compliant i am okay with returning to live meetings but again people have to abide by the rules as dr darian suggested yeah so my motion stands okay and i said my second motion second thank you any other further board discussion mr tim chattan is there anyone that has raised their hand directly since this is a board action from the public on this this point in particular i don't see any okay hearing none then roll call please ricky there is there is one that raised after you asked the question mr nolte i'm sorry okay erin fenstermacher

i'm going i'm going to promote uh aaron yes thank you i just have one question um with regard to um the police being able to respond to any people who are not in compliance will they be on hand at the meetings if they're in person or will they be called if there's a problem i'm just thinking of the time question as well um and how long it will take to respond to a disturbance the the direction from mr adams is to have police on site okay thank you with that roll call please ricky randy birch yes valdarian yes michael hass yes cecilia holt you're muted cecilia yes eric johnson yes dennis ritter yes charles sure yes michelle batts yes carl nalty yes so approved the next item on the agenda is public comment on agenda

items mr tim chattan could you um please or work with dr meyers to promote whoever is on that list please okay the uh the first so um we did as as we shared we did put in to indicate whether you were on a agenda item or not an agenda item but somebody put in in advance of the meeting um a day or so ago before that so i'm not certain if they belong so we'll call mr carl lampard if you can uh yes promote mr lampard the safe side would be to have him speak earlier rather than later if it happens to be an agenda item and that's not his fault it was we added that part after he had signed up mr lampard can you hear us uh yes can you hear me i

can yes yes go ahead sir all right thanks appreciate the opportunity to speak to the board today my son attends uh greenwich elementary school and um you know i became concerned in some of the uh equity things that have been coming up and uh wanted to speak um the false promise of equity for all is the sirens song that has crashed many ships and taken many lives on the voyage to communism the following was extracted from the ccp constitution the communist party of china leads people in building a harmonious socialist society the party works to enable all people to share in more fruits of development in a more equitable way under the rule of the ccp 60 to 80 million innocent chinese people have been killed that's communism's true equity of outcome no one gives

up their freedom willingly it's taken from them by one brainwashing them into it with lies and propaganda while the truth is censored corrupting them number two corrupting them into it with money in positions of power three scaring them into it through fear and intimidation and for imprisoning or killing them rewording the policy 809 to promote equity of access to learning falls into category one above the metrics are still based on equity of outcome and the siren's song of communism i pray every night for the school board and america to see through the lies even though the truth is often censored and difficult to find especially when it is cloaked in wonderfully deceptive words that many of the supporters cannot see through to the true end goal like 809's purpose statement equity is a legal and

moral imperative its true purpose is entirely political as jesus says in matthew 7 15 beware false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves you will recognize them by their fruits the fruits of equity policy 832 have clearly been divisive to our community while implemented its fruits were critical race theory-based morning announcements and black lives matter lies in propaganda on the equity website across america the fruits of critical race theory and black lives matter are racial division social unrest destruction injuries death fear and intimidation communism is now here in america wearing a cloak of social justice and equity instead of creating division by social class to drive the communist revolution like russia and china they're creating division by race in america the ruling class pushing this communist propaganda to fool

their supporters only care about money and power if they need to lie to their followers step on the constitution create division and get a few people heard or killed to get it so be it i pray for those fooled into participating in the destruction of their own freedom to see the truth please don't let a political ruling class play for fools please eliminate this equity policy step toward their end goal of an authoritarian government let us stand together as americans in support of our constitutional republic and not be divided let's teach and make policies based on the unifying foundations of our great american citizen self-governance system such as the declaration of independence in which says all men are created equal and now by their creator with certain inalienable rights and the constitution which contains the

bill of rights and guarantees our civil rights and liberties for all people in america america which is the most diverse and inclusive society on the planet let's be unified in celebrating the most free fair and supportive of diversity system of government ever created that provides social and economic mobility unlike the world has ever seen america is the land of opportunity not the land of equity let us stand together as one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you for listening thank you mr lampard mr noelty our next speaker is already a panelist it's eric lindquist okay look listen you all hear me but i can yes we can can you hear us okay fantastic so yes i can all right i think my internet a little choppy so try to get

you you are choppy and somewhat frozen okay this should be better is this better now can you hear me now yes super alright well thank you so much for your time and thank you for giving me the chance to speak here um i'm gonna address the one of the agenda items on the vaccine mandate and uh you know first i want to recognize that yeah whoever had this idea i i'm sure that the uh intention is all well and good that you know you have the um the health of the community in mind and uh you know i commend that um however it i would strongly advise against it and i'll give us a number of scientific reasons for that i'm not a medical doctor but i have listened to a lot of medical professionals

on this this matter who know what they're talking about uh people that are uh nobel laureates and people that have treated thousands of coveted patients including uh president trump and rudy giuliani so uh you know that that in mind um i'm not sure if any of you are licensed health officials or um medical doctors so i'm not sure uh if uh requiring a vaccine is legal so that you know the legality of this whole thing might be in doubt another thing is is uh regarding people that have had covet already um they already have immunity so there's no need for a vaccine um uh even uh anthony valkyrie who's uh questioned on this said that uh you know he couldn't explain why people with uh natural immunity should get the vaccine um also vares the

vaccine adverse events reaction study has reported over 10 000 deaths and hundreds of thousands of adverse reactions including you know heart inflammation and paralysis spells policy and so on um cdc whipple blowers have said that this report is uh the actual numbers are four times higher and uh so we could be looking at you know 40 to 50 000 people who have died from the vaccine which uh is far more than um you know vaccine deaths from from all of the vaccines in the past 20 years um even the fda has admitted that for every life saved through the vaccine that at least twice as many die from vaccine side effects including blood clots and autoimmune responses um babies diet through miscarriages uh eight times higher than the non-vaccinated rate so um many medical experts

like dr balloon who invented the mrna vaccine have you know sounded the alarm and said no we we should not have a vaccine mandate and and this risk of death is higher the younger that you get so um it could be as many as you know 100 children would die for everyone that's saved um i was recently listening to an uh to a testimony by dr vladimir zolenko who who was the one who treated president donald trump and rudy giuliani with his um with his cova treatment which uh included quercetin zinc and vitamin c d um his treatment has cured millions uh from from cobit and he claims that the reason why his uh treatment isn't getting the press that it it is is because it's cheap it's ineff it's inexpensive whereas pfizer and modern

and so on are raking in billions from the vaccines um so you know follow the money there so you know if if these top medical doctors are saying no there are effective treatments there's no need for vaccines if vaccines are killing more than they're saving there's uh there's no sense to having a vaccine mandate um and furthermore you know they they even say that the vaccines are maybe even causing these covet outbreaks because there's a very high correlation between uh highly vaccinated regions and and coveted infection rates you know he's looking at you know israel for example um so with that in mind you know you know enforcing a vaccine has the you know the authoritarian flair of you know nazi germany you know the show me your papers and and it leads to um

discrimination um ethnic minorities are more vaccine hesitant than the population overall and experience uh side effects at a higher rate so with with all that in mind uh you know enforcing vaccine doesn't follow the science um so i would respect the medical needs of people and uh don't repeat the mistakes of the nazis so that's all i have to say um if you have any questions um i would direct you to uh dr vladimir zelenko and america's frontline doctors who have done the research uh that they're they're fantastic people so thank you thank you mr landquist uh mr tim chattan yeah our next speaker is um amy friday who is looks like dr morris has coming on right now hello miss friday can you hear us you could turn your video on there you go

can you hear us can you hear me we can yes yeah can you hear me yes hi um i don't have a real good internet connection so but at some point it's to come first of all i have attended many meetings over the last few months mostly in regards to crt i haven't yet spoken because i'm not sure what to share with you that hasn't already been expressed i'm against crt and if you haven't heard your community by now and understand them that crt doesn't belong in our school systems i hope you're prepared students should use to choose implement such policy because i know my three will not participate in indoctrination look at the this is not what i'm here to talk about tonight in the divide of our community that topic was brought up

at the last meeting which is mandatory covered vaccination for our teachers staff and volunteers you have no right to force someone or make their medical decisions for them go read the constitution we have have rights as americans which continue to be violated daily besides our rights in violation no one knows the long-term side effects regardless if the fda has approved it or not you do not know someone's medical condition or if this is best for them yes religious and medical examinations are available but are medical exemptions really available when doctors are being threatened not to give them even one team necessary two meetings ago you were comfortable you weren't comfortable with some of us in attendance without wearing a mask that you felt liable and would carry the responsibilities if one of us were to

contract or had transmitted coveted to another for legal reasons maybe even more reasons if you have those but are you now prepared to be responsible and liable should you have a teacher staff member or volunteer either have a reaction or die from the vaccination yes reactions are real as it is death from the vaccine if you don't believe me look it up on the var site and those are only the ones that get reported because many do not many reactions or death get tossed aside because the reporting system is difficult and time consuming one not to mention doctors to have their jobs held against them for doing so where is mandating what is best for another or stop you may be okay with mandatory vaccination because that's what you choose to agree with but would

you be okay if if if it was mandatory to go to the gym daily or never drinking or smoking or eating fast food etc mandating all of these would make us all healthier and strengthen our immune system so should we mandate them as well trust the science trust the doctors how many times have they been wrong they are humans and we are far from perfect mistakes are made how long until you decide you want to sit here and have the same conversation regarding our kids it is my duty as a parent to research and decide what is best for my child not you not the doctor not science and not our government how many of you believe in my body my choice when it pertains to abortion but think you can pick and choose when

this applies it's not a matter of personal choice i advise you to walk away from this idea of mandatory covert vaccine it is a personal decision one should make on their own terms not by mandate or having their livelihood helping and one should not have to choose between making a living and their god-given rights you're creating a deeper community divide that you have already started with crt if you choose to proceed let it be known tears express and use their constitution and god-given rights on how to stand up and prevent you from doing so this is a thank you miss friday mr tim chatting dr meyers chris yufe i'm not seeing the attendees oh that's because you already moved chris over i'm sorry is it me yes my partner i'm sorry my connection i got

i lost connection i would like to uh speak about the mandatory masking or not masking vaccine mandate for teachers staff and volunteers i don't know if i don't know if you have video would be it would be great if you don't that's fine too just your videos not on just let you know that is it on now let's turn it on no i just want you to know that if you don't want all that whatever is more comfortable for you but we do not see you at the moment but that's fine whatever whatever works that's i'm sorry that's no worry no worries i just wanted you to be aware that you're just the the video piece is not done okay i am i'm sorry i don't know what no no no worries no worries i

just want you to wear that go ahead uh i just wanted to express you know i grew up in the kutztown area school district i went to ku i'm a teacher i teach in the inner city as well as my husband and you know the teachers in kutztown taught us to have critical thinking skills and i just feel like this district and our country as a whole are really just turning to indoctrination telling us what to think and how to behave and what to do and i i just think that's wrong we we need to go back to the way things used to be i i i think about this i'll give you an example today i had to call off i had a doctor's appointment and i couldn't get a substitute you putting on

here a vaccine mandate you're going to see stopping shortages i mean with instructional aides with teachers with volunteers i was at the homecoming game are all the people who work the chasma stand going to have to be vaccinated i mean if so you can count a lot of people out and i just i think that's devastating there are so many parent volunteers that have so much to offer our students and when you you do that you're you're taking away valuable information valuable insights for our students well even our staff i mean we i'm a lifelong learner i'm constantly learning i think i i just go back to this telling us what to think and how we should behave a patient you know we you don't know what's best for me i i i chose to

play the game even though i disagree with flu shots it's a virus and if you know anything about science viruses constantly mutate so it's their best guess as to whether or not it's going to protect us i i chose to play the game as an educator i wasn't forced to do it my husband took it i did it because they said oh well if you do this you won't be able to spread the disease the virus you won't be able to contract the virus you know and you won't have to wear a mask guess what we're finding out we're able to give the the virus to somebody we still have to wear the mask the whole thing is just crazy to think that you can mandate that and then your next step if you mandate

that you're going to go you're going to come for our students and i can tell you right now my son gavin yuffie will not be attending kutztown area school district if that's the case that i i'm i'm not gonna have somebody tell me what's best for my child i just think that's wrong and i i thank you for your consideration and your opportunity my opportunity to speak to you tonight i hope that you make the right decision thank you hey thank you miss alfie ms jaffee mr turner sorry yeah our next doctor our next speaker is uh jennifer coughinger mr we can see you good we can see you okay um first off i want to give um a clap because i can't uh because we're virtual to the first gentleman who spoke um agree

wholeheartedly on with what he said for crt uh for the equity 809 but i'm here to talk to you about forcing a vaccine on our teachers staff volunteers we heard liability liability liability you don't want the liability of somebody getting coveted on your watch that's why we're virtual well death stroke blood clots myocarditis and a host of other things are you ready for that liability personal it's on your hands because you said yes you wanted that our students are the least likely to get severe coveted symptoms of the entire population so don't tell me that you're doing this to protect the kids the death rate among children with non-comorbidities like cancer is statistically zero from the cdc's website okay so it's not about the kids it's about control okay our teachers our volunteers our staff

do not deserve for you to make their medical decisions or their religious decisions that's not up to you we have autonomy in our bodies that's part of being an american it's not up to you and you will not touch my child you will not mandate it for my child i will remove her faster than you can say give her the shot period i'm also worried about you enforce this i already know that you have teacher shortages when somebody's out you're combining classes already when someone is out what are you gonna do when you lose staff members because you will lose people and they're good teachers you want to keep your blue ribbon status don't do this because all of your good people will go i don't care if you're vaccinated i don't care if you're

not i don't care if you think everybody should be it's not your choice it's theirs keep it that way the only right thing to do thank you miss kauffinger uh so mr kauffinger is the next person signed up i'm sorry if he still wants to speak so yep uh yeah thanks guys for uh yeah allowing me to join uh you tonight appreciate the opportunity of course i live right here in the borough on that carriage court so uh and as my wife said we obviously have a daughter in the school district i uh yeah i used to work for a pharmaceutical company before i went into higher education now i tell you that not to boast but i think it gives me some street credibility tonight um in my comments okay uh i'll ask this

as a rhetorical question but there's a reason i'm asking it does anybody know when the measles vaccine was actually approved and the answer is in the 1960s now one of the arguments i often hear is that well everybody is vaccinated for something it's the only way you can get into school these days yadda yadda but what they fail to uh tell everybody for example on the measles vaccine is that going to become mandated until the mid 70s about 10 years after the vaccine was approved by the fda now i don't know you know i lodge you for considering the health of our community but dear lord friends one month after this has been approved by the fda you're already putting in mandates um you know again my background in the pharmaceutical industry you gotta know

longevity studies they have to exist before you start mandating vaccines otherwise as my wife said dear lord you guys are putting yourself up for a huge time risk of being sued and i would encourage if there's any teachers on this phone call tonight get ready to see the board because you guys man without those longevity studies i mean again you can believe me or not but in the pharmaceutical industry even they don't get too carried away and start calling for mandates okay that just doesn't happen if you will i would also submit to you guys that natural immunity is actually a thing you know i would encourage you to read some studies coming out of israel coming out of the uh cleveland clinic i believe um phenomenal phenomenal studies that basically show that natural immunity

is actually better than the inoculation that so many people are taking these days uh as a matter of fact i would submit to you that the shots are quite leaky and as i believe a gentleman said earlier there's a strong correlation between covet cases and these vaccines um it's because they're not a vaccine a vaccine prevents transmission of disease now that's right on the cdc website and if you don't believe me please look it up tonight okay but the very fact that these vaccines are actually enabling the transmission of disease should tell every single one of you as people who are concerned about education that they are not a vaccine they could be a shot but they're leaky at best uh one last comment i'm just gonna throw it out here hopefully i haven't used

my five minutes up yet but um i think this whole issue around the masks and quite frankly i i find it almost rude if i could say that that just because like four people at the last meeting there a couple weeks ago didn't put it on we've come to this now where we're gonna sick the police on each other i mean come on guys okay so a few people don't want to do it you know what let's just move on okay i think you guys can still conduct business without being worried about that and if you say to me well we're concerned about the safety and we don't want to get sued my response is um well you're very righteous but let him who is without sin cast the first stone in other words y'all

break the rules i know because i've probably seen many of you speeding on interstate 78 driving more than 55 miles an hour okay so don't don't play the righteous card just move on with your business i appreciate your time i hope you are listening to what people are telling you tonight the community is not supporting what you guys are doing i appreciate your time thank you so much thank you mr coffinger turnout that was our last speaker on agenda items okay with that we will move to new business if you would like to share the agenda mr tim chattan we would take under item seven we have item a i believe it is one through six for personnel so looking for a motion for item a personnel one through six so moved greater seconds have

a motion a second any comments or questions regarding item a personnel hearing none roll call please ricky aldarian yes michael hass yes cecilia holt yes eric johnson yes dennis ritter yes charles sure yes michelle bats yes randy burch yes carl nalty yes so approved next is item b mandatory coveted 19 vaccinations it is the recommendation the board of school directors at the board of school directors approve the requirement of all approved employees volunteers and individuals working with students to be covered 19 vaccinated is there a motion yeah i'd like to make a motion mr president it's somewhat lengthy i'm going to read it chris if you could give ricky a copy of that i think or email that to her the motion is that all approved employees volunteers and individuals working with students must have

their first vaccination dose by october 14 2020 and be fully vaccinated by november 30th 2020 the first day after thanksgiving break those with medical exemption certified by a physician licensed to practice medicine in pennsylvania or religious exemption that meets the same criteria as those that exempt students from the state's mandatory vaccinations must adhere to a regimen of testing as determined by the administration further employees may use unassigned time like planning periods during the school day to get a vaccination so dr darian there was an original motion i am assuming you are um no one made an everyday motion no one made an original motion this is the first motion that i've heard that was there i've made a motion that speaks to this issue is there a motion to act on dr darian's motion for

a second excuse me wait can you please explain uh what so we're on item b but it seems like b has changed somewhat okay what what are we no no one has does would anyone want to make would anyone like to make a motion to uh move item b forward item b i find is extremely vague it is uh simply say they be vaccinated when on what deadline who may be exempt then that's why i've tried to make a motion that speaks in somewhat more detail to the very same issue then al you would really need to move to substitute that other motion to the one that's in the agenda correct is there emotion i don't see emotion in the agenda but okay that's what yes yes it is item b absolutely is emotion dr

darren is absolutely it's the same business as we handle every other meeting all right i i will move that the statement i just read be substituted for that in the agenda dr darian has moved that this substitute item b per second uh dr darren i just wanted to clarify i think when you read that you said um for the deadlines you said 2020. assuming 2021 obviously yes thank you cooper thanks is there is there a second being no second okay there is no no action needed okay then i then i will move forward the uh statement in the agenda well that was already moved down i was already moved who moved it i sec i think i seconded ricky do you have somebody that moved is there a motion in a second on item b

under the agenda rookie or am i thinking back i'm thinking about the one before i don't think so yet okay i don't sorry i don't believe so there hasn't there has not been so i i will move forward the statement in the agenda their second item b i'll second so that we may discuss in public motion a second commoner questions regarding item b yeah if i may address some of the concerns expressed by the public uh i first of all trust the fda more than anecdotal reports of individual physicians scattered around they've approved the vaccine for full use ruling that it's safe and effective uh i would also say that this action is not truly a governmental action for example if we had mandated that all students be vaccinated that's acting as a governing body

right now we're acting as employers and uh as a past president of the association local association i would very much like to hear if there were any objections from the association i have heard none uh both uh publicly and and personally we did not have any official objection from the association um we also do we have you know we do believe it's a very very high 90 plus percent you know vaccination rate amongst association members we don't have an official number but it's very high i'd also like to remind the board that once the kids walk in that school under unless they've changed the school code since i retired the school acts in place of the parent they are our kids while they're in school and all the information that i'm able to get says

that it is far less likely for a vaccinated person to get sick and transmit the disease than someone who is unvaccinated i will accept that the people that have some natural immunity may be an open question but to keep our kids particularly the under-12s who have no option of getting vaccinated as safe as possible i believe that our staff the adults they have contact with ought to be i also don't see this any more intrusive than for example requiring staff to get background checks that's an enormous invasion of persons privacy but we require it to keep our kids safe i think we i've i am much more interested in doing that than the personal health of the individuals so that's why i've made the motion so thanks doctor and i may make some comments this

is absolutely um a horrible idea um i think it's pretty apparent from the the board not even almost moving forward with a second um this is a choice that a an individual gets to make not mandated by a school board this uh first of all i mean even that's even from a standpoint of how anybody feels personally about their own health and their own health care and the decisions need to be made between themselves and a doctor the second part is you know we are at over the i think the latest data is over 90 percent vaccinated you may as well you have um you have that immunity that's already there uh we will be shutting down the school basically with this this um motion if it goes through we'll lose bus drivers we'll lose

uh coaches um people that work in the cafeteria it will be a mess so um absolutely no and encourage all other all other board members to vote no to this idea and this motion it is a bad move for the school district yeah i'd like to i'm gonna add to that so for sorry mike um but i'll address the the vaccine mandate but first just to your comment that when the kids walk through the door that they become yours as a teacher while i com i have the utmost respect for every teacher and the hard hard work that they do they're still our kids so i think that that is a statement that has far overreach because while they are in the care of teachers during the day and the administration and there are rules

that govern the school a parent is always a parent so i'll just end with that um regarding that comment number two then regarding the the mandate we have approximately 90 of our teachers vaccinated already and we do not as far as i'm aware with the contact tracing information that's been shared to date with the board we don't have cases where it's the teacher spreading it to a student right i don't know christian if you can comment on that we don't we don't have any i don't i think we could say right now we don't have any that we are aware of of course that could always be the case that we didn't know you know whether it's asymptomatic or it's um something never wasn't tested because they're symptoms for that low but we have no

known cases of that now that's true thank you for sharing that um i while i am a scientist and i believe in science i also believe in personal choice and there are far too many people in my life that have been negatively impacted by the effect of the vaccine to simply say that i know better and everybody should just get it that has to be a personal decision there is there is no way that i feel comfortable telling somebody that they have to do something they need to make that choice with their physician and so given that we have zero evidence of it being spread from a teacher to a student or from a coach to a student etc and i think we've had very successful practices even all back through summer right we've we've

had lots of contact between students and volunteers and parents there is no legitimate reason why we want to take this risk because i do believe there's liability there and that is not our place to make that judgment all right um carl this is mike i just uh want to yeah i just want to uh speak on the motion i do not support um this motion um kind of going along already with what carl and michelle had said we have a very high percentage of staff that is already vaccinated i think there is some evidence out there that if you have been previously infected you do have some immunity to the disease as well although i still am in full support of getting vaccinated even if you've already been exposed to covid that will just strengthen

your immunity on top of that i know that the vaccine is or at least pfizer is going through the steps to get the vaccine approved for children's ages 5 through 11 shortly so at some point in the near future i think in the next month or two months that will be available for parents who choose to move forward with vaccinations for for their kids if they want so between all of those things in addition to being able to get the vaccine right now as as an adult as well as hopefully shortly being able to get that vaccine as a as a kid we've also been doing very good in our mitigation efforts for covid so with all of those things together i just do not see any point in our district mandating vaccines for its

employees um this is dennis ritter uh i voted for this time of discussion and having this on the agenda um as i've thought about it uh over the weeks since uh voting for it um and hearing some of the data again that we are you know well into the 90 range as far as staff and so forth that are vaccinated mindful that prior to the start of school last year we invested approximately a quarter of a million dollars in needlepoint ionization um because of the state mandate or requirement on masking we have masking in place and have been able to maintain from everything i have been told three to six feet spacing for the most part indoors and in classrooms i i think you know again we have not seen a huge locus of outbreak

within the schools i i mandatory vaccination at this point is a bridge too far for me uh if i could just jump in i'm sorry if i could just jump in this is truck sure i i'd also echo those concerns that the others have expressed um i was okay with continuing the discussion the um the concern i just don't see that this motion measurably increases the safety um health and safety of our kids and at least i haven't seen any data or information that would support that um you know coupled with my sort of natural aversion to mandates to begin with and my very strong concerns about what effect it could have on our uh exit you know our the staffing uh shortages that we're dealing with um in general um this just isn't something

i i could support any other board members with comments yeah if i could just follow up on that um yeah i'm also i am i i do believe that everyone who's uh capable of getting the vaccine uh should get it it has been the the cases of people who are sick right now are mostly among the unvaccinated i think it's important to get vaccinated but my concern would also be that by creating this new work for um the the administration to be recording who's been vaccinated who's not and all of that i actually worry that that might draw away some of our limited resources away from the actual mitigation efforts that we have in place and have apparently been working so you know unless uh unless i receive more information that the vaccine is is

uh that we're at risk by not having uh the staff uh vaccinated um i'm not inclined to vote in favor of this motion um i voted in favor of continuing this discussion last week uh because i thought it was important to do that but um i just wanted to uh allow myself some time to think about it and um be convinced one way or the other anyone else any comments i will do something i do extremely rarely several the comments were convincing eric and mike's especially so i will withdraw my motion dr darian has made a motion to withdraw um discussion on item b um i would encourage the board not members not to do that i believe we should vote on item b to to um get a resolution on that item not leave

it open so dr darren's maybe does anyone want to second dr darian's motion to remove his motion uh carl um would this make it like let's say that eventually sometime in the future something gets bad enough to where we might want to consider this or i don't know i mean is this permanently or could it be brought up later on in the future uh as conditions change i don't want to do something now that's essentially predicting how this is going to roll out six months from now plus carl i i don't think i need to make a motion to withdraw it i i would like to withdraw my motion if cecilia withdraws her second it hasn't been made i'll withdraw my second but let the record uh show that i've actually changed my mind then

item b will have no no um business taken upon it because it was not have a motion or a second ricky just make sure that the minutes reflect there was a motion a second board discussion and then those were ever sent thank you there anyone else on them we've had somebody who's attending the meeting have their hand raised for a while i mean if somebody raised their hand i think after we had finished public comment previously um we could let them speak now or wait until the next public comment uh portion um mr nolte how would you prefer [Music] and we do have two additional speakers at that time that were just for non-agenda items um that's you know so we do have another public comment time there carl um are you looking for somebody

else to possibly make a motion and possibly get seconded so that we could vote on this is that what you were looking for yes i believe we need to close the item yeah i'd agree with that so i'll make a motion on um i'll make a motion on item b might be any other comments hearing none roll call please ricky michael hass no cecilia holt no eric johnson no dennis ritter no charles sure no michelle batts no randy birch oh darian i'm going to stick with yes carl nalty no motion fails with that we'll move to item c the river rock agreement this is a recommendation administration that the board of school directors approved the contract for student services and act 48 program agreement with river rock academy for the 2021-2012 excuse me 20 2020

to 2022 to school year pretty attached do i have a motion so moved the most second second most second wish a second any comments or questions regarding item c hearing none roll call please ricky cecilia holt yes eric johnson yes dennis ritter yes charles scherr yes michelle batts yes randy birch yes darian yes michael hess yes carl nelty yes so approved next is item d the tls contract approval it is the recommendation of the administration that the board of school directors approved the professional development training agreement at a cost of three thousand two hundred and fifty dollars per the attached to have a motion so moved emotions are a section of seconds motion got it any any motion a second any comments or questions regarding item d so i have a question so it right

this is a contract that we've had for many years um christian what has the feedback been from the teachers um and administration the tls contract is one you know that uh historically has been professional development that is very positively received regarding general instructional practices and differentiated instruction um that was for a long time was a core part of you know the um instructional package that any new teacher in kutztown would be a part of and as we recognize that they're here they're continuing needs to always refresh your your skill set so it's it's been positively received the tls contract working with this group thank you moshe a second other comments regarding the tls contract approval i know i spent some time looking at it looks like some very clear clear directions coming up with respect

to uh curriculum clarity assessment driven instruction and engaging leaders um i think for next for next monday already so any other comments hearing none roll call please ricky eric johnson yes dennis ritter yes joshua yes michelle bats yes randy birch yes aldarian yes michael house yes cecilia holt yes carl nalty yes so approved um under item e i have two disabled veteran tax exemptions i would take both together unless someone has reason to take them separately carl only a question and that's to the administration the second one has a 2022 date is that just incorrect or is it the same as 20 21 they are both that is correct one is 21 and one is 22. i'm sorry dave you can clarify that that that's fine i just wanted to be sure we had the

correct dates emotions correct okay so i'll read the motion then if no one has any issues with with dealing with them both together it is a recommendation of the department of military and veteran affairs that the sport of school directors are proven exemption of all real estate taxes for property 21-4497-02-86-7416 effective july 1st 2021 and item number two it is the recommendation of the department of military and veterans affairs that the board of school directors approve an exemption of all real estate taxes for property 63-5452-12-95-7753 effective july 1st 2022 to have a motion so moved the motion is there a second second motion a second any comments or questions regarding item e yeah just real quick in my eight years on the board we seem to go about uh go through about two or three

of these per year i know we're living in a state that um has a a relatively high enlistment rate and um i'm wondering do we are we required to vote on these every time they come in or is there a procedural way where as long as the department of military and veterans affairs is uh recommending it that we can recommend it i mean are we required by law to review these uh i've never seen one of these question before in my eight years on the board we are required to vote on them so uh okay all right in some ways it's a formality but uh it is what we're supposed to do yeah and it's uh the least we can do for these folks my my question is more to the point do we do

anything to advertise the two veterans in our district i'm sorry you broke up there could you repeat that dr ritter do we do anything and broader question i guess if we don't do anything should we be doing something to notify veterans that this is available to them because there may be others out there going without you know and i i realize there are certain guidelines for this perhaps but uh we ought to be more i don't know i guess aggressive or forthcoming about this availability i would think i i feel for because of their service and um what they've given to this country well we don't do anything to [Music] i don't know if it advertises the right word there but to make it known to people i would have really called the procedure that

the military uses i would think that if someone becomes permanently disabled that the military would be uh um advising them of all the things that are available to them one would hope i guess it wouldn't hurt if we put a newsletter item out there but you know that's my opinion at this point i would believe dr ritter that the the the veterans affairs um does this we we can we it certainly certainly can be shared more but i would imagine that the veterans affairs shares very directly with the folks but so we have emotions i agree with you i would hope they other comments so in the chat um jackie bridges provided that it is for 100 disabled and the va walks through it when rating is given so thank you for providing that that

feedback jackie thank you jackie any other comments on eye to me hearing none roll call please ricky dennis ritter yes charles sure yes michelle batts yes randy birch yes aldarian yes michael hass yes cecilia holt yes eric johnson yes carl nolte yes so approved next is item f introduction of new business by board members or anyone on the board that like to bring something forward uh hey carl this is my guide just gonna cut in here real quick dr ritter i just want to say thank you to the administration for putting on the dance and the tailgating event seems like it was a very successful so i think a kind of another show of things might be a little different during covet but where we can we try to bring them back to normal and

it seems like there was an excitement to get back to that so we had a much higher turnout than maybe we ever had in the past few years so that's always a good thing and secondly just wanted to congratulate cooper again on homecoming king so congratulations cooper cooper where'd your crown go you took it off you're supposed to be wearing it thank you like anyone else bringing me forward uh i i'm going to make a motion carl for next week october 11th that we switch the two meetings and hold the facilities and extracurricular at six and uh the policy and curriculum at seven and that we duly advertise that change that's my motion is there a second there i'll second that motion a second any comments questions around that i just will speak to it

and and i probably would have done this even if uh we weren't in the situation we're in um there was work that needs to get done i think we really need to get 809 moved forward in some fashion for a full board vote as early as possible whether it gets voted up or voted down um is not the point at this point it is been just dangling out there and uh so next week i would hope that we have the time necessary and i'm not sure an hour it's going to be quite enough time so switching those meetings will give curriculum and policy the opportunity to perhaps get its work done without impinging on the following committee meeting other comments i i i just i don't see a need to move the meeting times i

will be voting no i think we've been praising this just for for uh a period of time so i i have some other restrictions that cause me to make 6 p.m difficult so i will not be voting for this motion we've advertised them in six and seven i don't see every reason to move them so i'll be voting now michelle yeah so i was just gonna ask is there is there really a need to to move them like what i understand that you want unlimited time but at the same time like we we have been operating this way and um i'm just not sure that that we necessarily need to to vote emotion in order to give us that time right we we established that there was no pressure for how long this was going

to take that we were going to do the due diligence so i think that if the hour next week isn't adequate then we continue that discussion um we often have people from outside the district especially for facilities contractors and whatnots come in to our meetings to present information and i think we need to make sure that those people have a set time to be able to attend um i don't think we should leave the close of policy open-ended the way some of these discussions have been going it's possible for policy to last until 9 00 pm and uh for the sake of the contractors and whatnot that uh come to the facilities meeting i think we need to make sure that they have a clear sense of how much time they need to be at

the middle school i'm just going to respond to michelle's comment um i know we talked about giving this time we've we lost time at the last meeting because of some public behavior and or we would have given i think a good amount of time and i'm willing to give it time next week i don't want to jam up uh our second the the second committee extracurricular and facilities we've had the community input we may find next week we need to have another time a community input i understand that michelle but i think we need to really start to move this forward and either get to and get it as quickly and as fairly as possible to a vote of our board one way or another it just dangles out there and continues to create issues

amongst our community one way and another we have to remember that there are definitely two sides to this issue at least if not some other in between those two but we know we have folks on both sides of the ledger and quite a few people on both sides of the ledger so but i think that's all the more reason not to rush it right and i i think to have a marathon no i don't think we've the community input and you know it's taken some time to sort of work through that and review that and i think we can make some you know real progress next week i'm not sure i see the need to you know revamp our committee meeting schedule um because of this i mean i mean i think we need to

take uh you know a you know a very um you know measured approach to reviewing the comments and and um you know considering it and the changes and um you know i think it's it's very likely we're going to need um you know some additional time after that so i i i'm not i'm sort of getting the sense that people are interested in kind of all of a sudden pushing this but i don't think that's a good idea and i think we can make some real progress next week without you know rescheduling our typical committee times i i agree that we should give this due diligence but we've already lost an entire meeting uh because of the um public misbehavior and um you know if we if we're breaking up this discussion into little one-hour

segments where that that are often uh interrupted um i'm not sure like again we need to do due diligence but i think we also need to give this the time that it needs for us to be able to come up with something that we're ready to present to the board i don't think we should rush but i don't see how only allowing an hour next week to discuss this thing which we're already a month late on uh helps us get to what we want to do any other comments i honestly from my perspective it doesn't matter how much time we talk on it i think the decisions are pretty well made so yeah you're probably right carl so should we vote on it now i'm joking never mind that was a bad joke i'm very

sorry um looking for anyone else would like before we vote on the the decision to move the meeting time for next week to switch to have facilities in ecc at six and policy and curriculum at seven i would just like to say quickly that i really don't see how we can characterize this as rushing if we are trying to get some movement on policy um because it has been a long time of receiving public comments and including the community conversations and many meetings both committee and regularly scheduled full board meetings but i don't really i don't know that it's particularly productive timing of the meetings but i definitely don't think that we're rushing things if we're working to move it forward other comments hearing none roll call please ricky charles sure no michelle bats no

randy birch no aldarian yes michael hass oh cecilia holt no eric johnson yes demonstrator yes carl nalty no motion failed any other um new business anyone like to bring forward hearing that i think we'll move to public comment um is there anyone else still mr tim chattan that hasn't commented yet we robin underwood is signed up to speak on non-agenda items hi um i just want to start off by saying i'm pretty disappointed that we don't have extra time at the policy and curriculum meeting i think that would have been nice um it's also hard to be first so i hope the police don't have to come and limit our time even more um but that being said what i want to talk about tonight is something from the past so back in the fall

of 2019 there was a survey that went out to parents and students and teachers and staff all about the climate in the schools and um i believe that that gathered a whole lot of information about the school climate i know then that in the spring of 2020 committees were put together to assemble the data figure out what it means and to discuss next steps and then of course covet hit and stopped all of the momentum on that initiative so i'm here tonight to ask you if things are back to normal enough for things to begin to move forward again with the information from that all of that work that was done and money spent i would like really to see it move forward to improve the school climate you want to speak to that mr

tim chad that is the school yeah the school climate um survey that we did in partnership with bciu it was out probably a little bit november december january 19 into 20 it closed and then um you're right and then coveted hit in march of 2020. we have has preliminary discussions with potentially re-engaging with that with the iu uh because that's that's initiative that that is still available so we are we are certainly in conversations about re-engaging i think a new survey might be beneficial just because things have changed so much since that time but uh yep i mean that's definitely a conversation it did not and just a money piece it didn't cost the district anything because that was um a grant through the state that the iu was implementing at that time so okay

great looking forward to that thank you next mr tim chatting you're on you're on mute yeah maria marmarel uh dr dr myers can read my lips though so he already moved her into the panelist hi maria hello hi everyone thank you for allowing me the time to speak tonight um i graduated in 2018 from coast town high school and i'm currently a senior at temple university which is in philadelphia about that thank you for all who responded and you know read some comments that i've made um in the summer of 2020 i really appreciate um that feedback and i would just like to focus on that um i'm so privileged and grateful for my education at temple university i've learned i've learned so much and really opened my mind on you know the history and

you know the community in north philadelphia and i know that um with my respect to all my teachers at kutztown that you know i could walk in walk on campus or in the district and and feel um very comforted and i feel any teacher could you know accept me into their classroom at whatever time because of my respect and my personality and you know the great community that we have so um i would like to ask that uh you know keep in mind that education lack of education creates ignorance and i know i've talked about some of my experience within the kutztown community and also the greatness of the qatar community you know i've succeeded in cross-country and music and i just want to thank you for that and also please you know keep in

mind uh what work we have to do so that students do not disrespect teachers or just disrespect students like me um that come from different backgrounds you know as both of my parents are immigrants and we're all citizens of this country so i would really like some improvements in education or um experiences so that students can open their minds and and feel empathy you know empathy is is the ability to understand and share feelings with one another and i believe that you know just looking you know with the panel like it will be hard to empathize with me if there's a lack of education understanding of certain experiences uh within certain communities in this country and you know i'm 21 years old and i just learned and reading a book about miss henry at a

lacks who because of her the polio vaccine was able to be created under a budget she was an african-american woman who had cervical cancer and a lot of tumors and she actually passed away october 4th 1951 and that's not a long time ago and you know as we know jim crow was in the 50s so i just want i would love for students to really be educated in a high school level level of what i'm being educated at at a university level and you know i heard a homecoming was this past weekend and a lot of my alumni uh peers are doing so well in their college careers um i released two albums with the temple university jazz band you know you want to check that out but that that's all just thank you for

um listening to me and i would just really appreciate um some thought in the education and um lack of ignorance that we could create in this community to make it even more even greater than it already is to truly unify students and um communities so that's all thank you thank you this morning anyone else mr tim chattan those are the speakers who had signed up we did have two people who had raised their hand after the initial public comment on agenda items one is mr bureau ed bureau mr bureau are you there mr biro can you hear us the other so the other um person with your hand raised in was uh spence democr uh which dr myers has just elevated to panels okay some offense to mocker can you hear me yes thank you

um i just want to express my disappointment with the way that policy 809 is being characterized as rushed um and pushed through i just want to echo the comments of the board members i can't believe that that's even being said after the time that's been spent on this and the amount of public comment and board discussion that has happened to characterize that as being pushed through is just inaccurate um i also almost feel as though it's being delayed purposefully and i'm sorry for saying that and i also think it's very disappointing that some of the board members expressed that we all know how we're going to vote on this so it doesn't really matter anyway that's disappointing um this is something that's very important i'm not gonna go through why we've all been through it

a million times we all know the importance of it for you to be delaying something like this um i just don't even have words for it so uh i can't believe that people wouldn't be willing to switch a committee meeting by one hour to make sure that this had you saw the disruption that happened the last time you saw the way that the meeting was hijacked and had to be adjourned they couldn't even conduct business but yet you're unwilling to move the meeting by an hour with plenty of time to advertise it there's no reason why you couldn't do that that feels to me like purposeful delay or trying to bury it and if you don't want to be seen like that then i would encourage you to act differently in these meetings and to

make decisions that would let the community know that you find this to be important um i i i'm honestly i'm speechless about it other than that so i'll leave it there but thank you thank you miss spencer mocker anyone else mr mr bureau doesn't i don't think mr bureau is uh on the call any longer um the i just promoted uh elizabeth mckenna yes this is mckenna mckenna are you there while we're waiting for ms mckenna um i just noticed a post in the chat from mr bureau saying i'm here working on my microphone issue apologies yes yes i am sorry i kicked me out can you hear me i can okay um i did not actually expect to speak tonight but i do have a couple of i have a question and then i

have a statement um my first question was with there was a woman a few meetings ago jennifer kauflinger she asked about the quarantine students about not getting adequate education and i was just curious if that ever was addressed because i i cannot always attend every meeting so maybe i had missed that there was a request made um mr tim chen to look at that i don't know if you have any updates at the moment but there was a request made yeah it differs by level a little bit um secondary students who are quarantining you know and now have the opportunity to um [Music] tune in i'm going to say to the room you know it's sort of an abbreviated version of the zooming in multiple instructional methods of last year um because we you know

we were trying to avoid that largely because of it what it does to the in-person learning environment but as of today in secondary classrooms quarantine students and quarantine students i should say quarterly and isolated students only who are well can kind of tune in at least to the class and see what's going on and listen even though there might not be a true multi-environment learning to my knowledge though there's a kutztown virtual academy so why can they not just tap into that that's because it's a whole you know quicksand virtual academy is a different you know that that's using contract and service providers and it is while the classes might align from a credit standpoint it's not something where you can be in one classroom one day and then the other classroom the next day

the curriculum wouldn't align and it's um largely asynchronous there are teachers involved of course um but they are contracted providers so that's that's very different okay okay i understand um my other statement which is going to get me in trouble with my daughter i had withdrawn my son eklyn kelly which i'm sure a lot of the board members have known um because of the masking and the crt now my daughter which i don't agree with she loves the district she wanted to go to school there so she decided to go to the high school with the mask on well she tells me about a week ago that there's a teacher at the high school that has been telling upperclassmen that she hates her second period class and specifically hates my daughter hayley graham comes back

to my daughter okay i'm livid this is an adult educator okay and the reason why she hates my daughter is because she pulls her mask down okay does everyone hear that yes have you taken this up with um the suit the the principal i think that's probably your first step um i filed the complaint with the guidance counselor and i asked for it to be private because my daughter is so upset that she doesn't want to be retaliated against and she said i don't care mom just let it go let it go but there's a list of students that were witnesses to this okay and my daughter she's very strong-willed so she's you know she doesn't care what if there was a student that maybe is suicidal depressed and this adult teacher is telling upperclassmen

that they don't like a child because they're not masked or because of for whatever other reason childs can go home and kill themselves you don't know that so this is the type of teachers that you have you know educating our students and you know what i'm gonna hear a lot of crap from my daughter you know what i'd rather her mad at me than another student go home and hurt themselves mrs mcad i recommend you meet with with um direct who's with uh principal and possibly superintendent tim chattan to go over the issue that gets better handled in that forum than here and hopefully we can come to a resolution on any issue there could be okay well these are the type of issues the masking okay my daughter is pro mask and because she

pulls her mask down because she wants to breathe or take a drink she's hated again i'd recommend that you meet with the administration directly okay well thank you be in touch thank you [Music] anyone else we can try mr bureau one more time yeah in the meantime while we well mr bureau comes on there just were you know look at the any statements that were made um or comments in the comment form the comment form uh two of them spoke and then mr d'angelo eric d'angelo said please know that mr lindquist comments read the safety of the kobe vaccine absolutely do not follow the science as he says and grocery incorrect and practically every particular um did we get mr vero's on i believe so mr bureau can you hear us you you appear to

still be on mute we can see your ceiling mr bureau we can see you mr barrow you're on mute though you're still on mute sir unfortunately we can see you but not here okay sorry um perhaps we could recommend to him to put his question or remark in the chat so at least we'll have that chance to communicate with us can our administra whoever's administrating on as an administrator open his mic for him uh no no that's we are able to do that in our program at church we can ask him to unmute yeah we're not we're not muting them yeah no i know i think they're set up so the administrator can't at will turn on the mic when the user uh prefers not to have their mic on so just um if if

that's the case then the last few comments through the q a where vaccines are required by the district for other illnesses correct acting as if the district can't do this demanding when requirements there are for other diseases we have uh will an updated version of the policy be made available prior to monday if there is an updated version of the policy and why are you not talking about doing meetings at a different venue without mass commands the board we decided to be in person at the school they are all the comments with that we'll move to item 9 the informational items which are the september 2021 student student enrollment information and then upcoming public meetings on october 11th there's policy curriculum competing starting at 6 p.m that will be in the middle school commons as
