001Wendy, could you take the attendance? >> Mr. William Brun >> here. >> Mr. Donald Carpenter >> here. >> Mrs. Vivian Demco. Mr. Cedric Deetmar >> here. >> Dr. Dr. Laurel Ericson Parsons, Mrs. Megan Lmanino, >> present. >> Dr. Shamim Paxid, >> I'm present. >> Mr. J. Santos, >> present. >> Dr. J. Christian Tattoo >> here. >> Can I have a motion to approve the agenda? >> Santos. >> Any discussion? In favor? >> I >> opposed. Motion carries. We had an executive session tonight. We as well for to discuss the superintendent goals as well as March 24th to discuss personnel. Uh sorry that was the motion to approve the agenda. Can I also have a motion to approve the minutes from March 24th? >> So move Dmar. >> Can I have a second? >> Second. Sanchez.

002Any discussion? In favor? >> I >> opposed. I >> motion carries. >> Uh for recognition tonight, we have the I team you'd like to say. I don't have anything. >> Okay. >> I was wondering who was caring. >> It doesn't say Mr. Hower. >> Good evening everyone. I know no one wants to see me, so I want to have the I team stand, please, to be recognized. Uh, this year, our outstanding Sen Valley Middle School I team took the top honors at the annual What's So Cool About Manufacturing Contest. >> I'd like to put this on public display for our meeting tonight at the front desk if that's okay. Yes. And I'd like to have members of the I team speak to the board about this experience and what they learned. I'll start first with

003uh one of the adviserss for the program, Miss Lesnie. >> Hello. It's nice to see you all again. Um I'm Meredith Lesny, um the middle school librarian. I've been I've had the pleasure to oversee this program for the last three years and I'm honored to introduce to you these amazing and talented kids. Hello, my name is Samantha McCarthy and this is Ellie, Beverly, Micah, Jethro, Aman, Andrew, Maggie, and Amelia. We are very happy to share that we won the highest award of the contest. We beat out 29 other schools and we received outstanding overall program award. We were required to create a two to 2 and 1/2 minute video about a local manufacturer. We were paired up with Crayola this year. Throughout the course of this project, not only did we sharpen our technology skills,

004we learned how companies engineer and market products and how those skills are valuable in manufacturing. But most of all, we had fun. We also learned how to work as a team using our iPads, a variety of cameras and computers. We were able to countless pictures and hours of footage at Crayola. We are going to states on May 13th to compete against oh compete against the video over the state. We are excited and hope to win, but if we don't, we know that we tried our best. We would highly recommend this to our other students because this club really makes you feel like a family. We all support each other and we hope you like the video. >> Please have a seat. And I'd like everyone now to uh partake in what the IT team learned

005and presented and what brought home our great trophy. So with no further ado, the 2026 IT team presentation. Crayon. >> Hey crayons, guess what? Just got off the phone with you've been invited TO CRAYOLA. IT'S YOUR TURN TO BECOME a Crayola crayon. We're here today to learn how to become a Crayola crayon. >> The original backstory of Crayola is that it was formed by two cousins, Edwin Benny and Caesar Smith. They were originally a pigment manufacturer where they made carbon black for tires or iron oxide for red barns. From there, there was a need for slate pencils and those slate pencils eventually led us to making art crayons in 1903. Those crayons were originally in eight colors and they were sold locally as well as now worldwide. >> All right, guys. It's time to go

006learn how to become a Crayola crayon. >> First thing we do is mix paraffin wax and colored pigment. That wax is then put through a pipe which goes into a molding table. So as it reaches the other side, our crayon is formed. We then have pistons that push the crayons out of their mold. Then we'll put a label onto our Crayola crayon. What's special about a Crayola crayon is that it is very strong because it's wrapped twice. Our employees take the crayons and put them into a nice drawer called a magazine where they then can go off and become part of the pack that we all know and love. One fun fact about Crayola is that one crayon can draw a line for almost 3,000 ft. So that's a little over a half of a

007mile. >> My name is Zach Sabatine and I'm a crayon team manager. What do I think is so cool about manufacturing? I mean, look at it. You got different processes. You got different people trying to figure out how to get things to run better. I mean, the great thing about manufacturing is it'll never be perfect. So, there's always opportunity for improvement. There's always a chance to get better. Job well done. And we'd like to take this opportunity for our IT team uh to receive their individual awards from what's so cool about manufacturing. So I will call Miss Leslie and Mr. Stern uh to come up and present those. >> So we've been practicing shaking hands correctly. So >> Andrew Roberts Roberts, Maggie Laflam, Aean Wood, Eleanor Wckler, Samantha McCarthy, Jethro Yardley, Micah Gil, Beverlywood Thank

008you very much for inviting us to celebrate the children. Our next stop is the uh state finals out in Harrisburg in early May. I will keep you posted and I hope to be back here again. I would say to the eye team, if you place at states, I will make Mr. Sackler wear one of the crayon costumes. Well, good luck. >> Great. Uh, as a board, we want to say congratulations and thank you for representing us at through it with all your work and all your enthusiasm. We wish you the best of luck. And something we started with the elementary school positive panthers was that you come behind and you can shake hands with the board. And then when you do, on behalf of director Demco and the school board, we have a little bars

009of Hershey for you for your voyage. So you can Andrew, you can start this way to Dr. Pax. Well done. Congratulations. Congratulations. Well done. Well done. Congratulations. >> Additionally, a thank you to Miss Lesnney, Mr. Stern and any other um of our teachers that have helped you to do this. We really appreciate it. Anybody who is interested in leaving now is welcome to uh so thank you for your time tonight. At this time we have our high school SGA representative Kristen Lucier and she's in costume. Hi. I'll try and be quick. Um okay. So, the debate team made it to finals for the first time in four years. And um this past week they competed against Salisbury and came very very close um to winning. The competition was then followed by an ice cream social

010for all the debaters from the season. We had a really good season overall. So, it was exciting to see our teammates compete. Okay. Then, Nitia uh Tucker, uh Violet Whitley, Zara Ortiz, and Mackenzie Johnson went to states this past weekend for FBLA. and a few a few of them are still there competing for Model UN. On Friday, March 13th, 42 students participated in the East Penn UN simulation at Lehigh University. Kristen Lucier and Violet Whitley successfully ran the committee on women and children while other participants served as delegates in various committees. Four members came home from medals with their efforts. Von K on the environmental committee, Sarah Bochini on the social and humanitarian committee were recognized for their real constructed resolutions. Nitia Takar on the environmental committee and Ryan Paxet on the security council were

011recognized for the their diplomatic skills as delegates. The Scholastic Scrimmage team finished with the Colonial League virtual tournament with the stellar seven wins, one loss, and one tie, the best record in the league. tomorrow or this happened on March uh 25th, Wednesday. They uh faced off against Northwestern Lehigh in the championship. Both National Honor Society and Leo Club will be holding their inductions on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026 in the high school auditorium at 6:30 p.m. These inductions will uh coincide with our uh Sen Valley High School art show. So parents and friends can visit our students great artwork before, during, and after the inductions. Each spring, schools from the IU compete in the reading competition where teams answer questions about a set list of books. The list of 25 books changes every year and all

012teams read the same books. The competition is a collaborative effort where students contribute by answering questions about the books they have read. The team that gets the most answers correct wins the competition. This year, Sen Valley reading team won second place. Um, for theater this week is um the show for the high school, the Drowsy Chaperon. On April 16th, 17th, and 18th, the shows are at 6:30 p.m. And then April 19th, it's at 2:00 p.m. uh in the auditorium, and tickets are on purchase now. Um, the high school environmental club is collecting slightly used items that can be donated to local thrift stores. Instead of throwing things away, students and other families can drop them off in the bins located in the high school pond lobby in the entrance by the bus loop. The environmental

013club will will bring the items to the thrift stores to help keep things out of the landfill. Congratulations to our Sen Valley Middle School jazz band for earning excellent level scores at their performance at Northeast Middle School on Friday. Special congratulations to the brass section for winning the best school section award and Andrew Walsh, sixth grade, for winning the best school soloist award for his drum set solo. The Sen Valley High School jazz band performed as a part of the pops concert on Wednesday, March 4th. They then took their talents on the road to perform at Steel Stacks where they received the best rating of excellent received a rating of excellent and Shawn Gorman was awarded best jazz trombone solist of the night. Agro Renazo, Seion Paxed, Jack Thompson, Natalie King, Sean Gorman, Wallace Shamano,

014Moss Jamino, Gabe Silva, and Miles Weber participated in the Northampton County band on Saturday, March 14th at Nazareth Area High School. The high school band and choir had the opportunity to go to New York and see the Outsiders on Broadway. They also got a meet and greet with one of the cast members along with a workshop, and the band was able to work with the pit orchestra, which was very exciting. Prom tickets sales just ended and the Sen Valley High School prom will be held at the Americas Hotel at 6 PM on May 1st. The junior class is working very hard to pull off an amazing prom for us. The yearbook club officially finished the yearbook with a spring delivery after weeks of hard work. Sales are still going and you can order a yearbook

015now. You won't regret it. For SJ, we just held the powderpuff volleyball tournament in the high school, which is like an event for all students where um boys play volleyball and the girls coaches. So, that was an all day event, which was very exciting. And they also held or we also held the um egg hunt uh which we do every year for all the students where like they we hide eggs in the um school throughout the school and um they basically get prizes and stuff. So, that was fun. Uh thank you. Any questions? >> Kristen. So, thank you. Thank you very much. I just wanted to say a couple of things. One is that uh there were uh many more than uh the few names that you uh mentioned, the kids who are at FBLA.

016So, uh it's I think uh close to maybe >> Oh, and FBA. Those four are the ones that went to states this past week. >> Well, we Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. But many of them competed um back I don't know. It was a >> Hershey. Yeah. They're still there, but um >> Yeah. Yeah. But those four are in Hershey. And I think uh the Scholastic scrimmage team, they won that last game also. >> Oh, great. Great. I didn't know that. That's a good thing. >> How did you get uh permission for such a long break from uh your tech rehearsal? I'm >> I'm only in like three scenes, so it's really not that bad. >> I hear there is uh a lot of uh rules and they're really strict about >> Oh, yeah. They're pretty

017strict this year, but I was able to get away. So, thank you. >> Thank you. Yeah, thank you. >> We have our superintendence report. >> Yes. Good evening. I just have two brief but exciting technology updates. So we recently concluded our teacher pilot of parent square. So feedback from participating teachers was largely positive particularly when it came to the ability to to direct message with families. Um additionally we've begun testing a J parent app which allows families to apply controls to students iPads outside of school hours. So, my superintendent partnership council has been working with the platform. This app provides parents with greater visibility and device management capabilities at home while maintaining the district's instructional configurations during the school day. So, we will share information on both of those new technology updates soon regarding the

018next steps for how we can implement them through our families and our staff. That's it for this evening. >> Thank you. >> Courtesy of the floor to visitors on agenda items only. Seeing none, we will move on for presentation of bills. Can I have a motion to approve the presentation of bills or is it just >> second? Demar. >> All right. Uh discussion in favor. >> I >> opposed. Opposed. Motion carries. Uh, can I have a motion to approve the treasurer's report? >> Second, Demar. >> Any discussion? In favor? >> I >> opposed. Motion carries. Uh can I have a motion to approve our committee reports which would include academic and personnel? >> I think we just hear the reports. >> Okay. >> So I'll begin. This is uh Dr. Tatoo speaking uh on behalf

019of the academic and personnel committee. At our April 1st meeting, we heard two present well three presentations. two regarding uh new curriculum item requests. The first was from the uh K through5 social studies program represented by Mrs. Brax Meyer and several members of the several uh elementary school teachers uh approaching the board asking us to approve the purchase of the studies weekly program uh as a supplement to the current social studies curriculum at the elementary school. Uh the second presentation was regarding uh high school English and specifically a program from HM uh which the English department is strongly in favor of adopting for grades 9 and 10 only not for grades 11 and 12. Um both of these were followed by vigorous discussion after which the committee did vote unanimously to approve both or to

020recommend excuse me uh both of these programs uh to the board for approval. And then finally, Dr. Tenor spoke with us about the um AI policy and implementation program uh plan. Um there was again a vigorous discussion about its current draft and uh we've decided that we've the committee decided to ask for further uh revisions before it came back to the committee for a vote. Um this seems like uh well nope never mind. Um I'll I'll wait to make have that discussion. Um do I have any questions about the committee report? I don't have a question, but I have comment. >> Okay. >> Um, yeah, I just wanted to, um, I was, you know, I'm on on the committee obviously and, um, I I thought that the AI discussion both, you know, was was uh,

021really important and and timely. One of the things that I mentioned during the meeting that I I wanted to make sure that gets brought up again and and there will be out other opportun other opportunities to do it is just that when when staff or you know uh when Sen Valley staff use AI and present something to the community, I I feel strongly that we should make acknowledgements of that use use. So um you know in in a reasonable way there should be a reasonable acknowledgement of when we're using AI. Um um I I think it's part of the having a sense of transparency for the public. um and knowing that when they're getting a piece of writing that has um someone's name on it that um and if there's AI was used that that

022that the person is being upfront about it and it's not just students. We're not just policing um you know AI and and um five paragraph essays for you know you know nth grade English or something like that. but also that what the you know in terms of what our professionals do with AI that they're open about it that nobody is pretending to be somebody that they're not or kind of dressing up their voice into something that they're not you know and so I I do hope that when we eventually have that policy that we that with the reason of with within reason that there there are efforts to acknowledge u you know staff uses of AI that's all. So that's with images also not just writing it's also images >> just to give example there's

0235% and content that's not public >> I'm sorry we should definely for the partners with the use of AI that of course. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Thank you for your comments and then thank you also for your committee report. Did did you have anything Dr. Box or you're okay? >> I know I the one time I pulled back you uh >> I know I I didn't want to be accused. No, no. I I was thinking uh but uh there is a I I I I don't disagree with uh the point that Mr. Brun made the sort of like as I was uh thinking about this and trying to sort of like see where we are going. Uh it may be that it's already uh the situation where everybody who writes something electronically is using AI

024one way or or the other, right? Uh so uh this is you know autocorrects and uh the uh the features that you know almost all of our uh uh writing tools have right now that like they finish the sentence and so forth they are based on uh based on AI. So uh uh we have to kind of like have a uh threshold about this. Uh and I'm just saying that in case Mr. Brun would uh like to either think about it or maybe he already knows it and he can uh share his thoughts. uh uh has to be sort of like a threshold beyond which this becomes sort of like a product that is uh uh in a uh you know more unusual way relying on on AI otherwise I'm just thinking that unless someone

025just writes with uh you know paper and pen there is going to be some sort of AI that is involved in that uh in that process what's the sort of like limit for the acknowledgement it becomes it becomes meaningless because uh it becomes like one of those uh you know disclosures that we have at the bottom of the emails that's you know confidentiality notice or whatever it's just like one other fine print that says that in the use in the in the creation of this uh product uh AI was used explicitly or implicitly. >> Yeah, I think that could be a great conversation for future academic and personnel committee meetings. So I appreciate my fellow directors sharing that and thank you Dr. tattoo for your committee report. Facilities did not does not have a report

026as they did not meet and finance is meeting at the end of this month. You can follow that on the website for the date that that is included. There is no unfinished business. Yep. Okay. So, we are moving along to can I get a motion for new business? Do >> I do I >> Okay. Do I have to separate those or she could just do it? I'm sorry. Okay. >> Okay. So, she's gonna present and then we'll do it. I'm sorry. >> Yeah. No, that's okay. Okay. I think I >> continue. Sorry. >> Uh good evening. Um so, I am going to give just a quick overview about our counseling plan. Um I did this at the AM meeting in March. um prior to our uh plan getting posted on our website, it was posted

027up there throughout the month of March with the availability for uh community members, parents, uh staff to give feedback to it. Um we did not receive anything beyond what was discussed at the AMP meeting. So um those few little changes were made, but I want to just give everybody a quick overview of the plan before um it gets uh approved. So the purpose of the plan is to ensure that schools have specific tasks uh that provide career planning opportunities for our kids grades K through 12. Um the plan includes the mission statement for the counseling department. Um information about the roles of the school counselor, a monthly calendar of the activities that we have um organized throughout all three buildings including um things that fall into the tiers of the MTSS program. Um the curriculum

028action plan annual goals uh that the counselors revise um that focus on academic, career and personal and social needs. um an action plan um that talks about how our stakeholder groups benefit from the plan as well as career and post-secary resources. Um one of the biggest changes to the plan this year is the state uh updated the standards. Um they will go into effect at the end of this year. They did put them out already though for schools to start planning and since our plan was already up for this year, we decided to make sure that the plan incorporated those new standards. So the previous standards were career awareness and preparation, career acquisition, career retention and advancement and entrepreneurship. The new areas um entrepreneurship is no longer its own category. It's now embedded into career

029awareness and exploration um employability skills, growth and advancement and personal interest in career planning. um the focus is much more on personal interests um exploring careers, developing skills necessary for them um compared to how the old standards were uh written. We also made sure that um we worked on adding additional uh activities to our middle school. Um in the past that was the one area when we had spent time last year when we were working on our comprehensive plan as well as planning this year um that everyone had identified was a need and the middle school team has worked very hard to add items that are reflected on this plan and continue to grow them uh as well beyond. So moving forward um the counselors are continuing to update the career lesson plans and activities.

030Like I said the middle school has really built out some things already and is continuing to add to it. Um the buildings have all reinstated their career days. This was something a lot of them had in place pre uh COVID um and then had stopped for a while and they've all reestablished it. Um and the counselors continue to build um work with their the regular ed teachers to make sure that they're building connections between what happens in the classroom and what's on the plan. So it's not just students hearing from counselors about future um employment opportunities, career activities, um employability skills. they're making sure that this is something that goes across all curriculum 8 to 12 across the district was it just again a quick overview about the plan. Um like I said it was

031posted throughout the month of March. Um I know it was also sent out to the board I believe uh before the AMP meeting to have a take a look at everything. Um but that's just a quick overview. Are there any questions? your needs. Can you discuss maybe a little bit about composition? Do professionals discuss? >> Yeah. So, um all of the buildings run it slightly different. Um the middle school and elementary school reach out to community members to come in and talk about their careers. They try to get a wide variety um so that the students really hear about different opportunities. Elementary is really focused on just learning what's out there. Um and then middle school they start to get a little bit more specific and really start to talk about how that connects then

032as they go into the high school things different courses to take um those that might have an interest in votech how that relates. Um and then high school does uh a college fair and a career fair. Um and actually this year we are taking uh a group of seniors as well to the career link career fair that they run. Um that gives them a chance to um interview directly and and apply to businesses for those that are going directly into the workforce. Um so each building looks a little different, but they're really focused on getting the kids opportunities and getting them to recognize what is available to them out there based on their age. Okay. Can can I get a motion to approve the K12 guidance plan? >> So moved. Tattoo. >> Any discussion? In

033favor? >> Um Oh, wait. Hold on one second. >> I didn't hear a second. I don't know if someone's mic's not working. Um, I just wanted to say that, um, I've heard from some community members asking about what we do for students who are, uh, who are not planning to go to secondary education. And so I hope that those community members are watching here and that they read the plan and get in contact with the administrators if uh if they have any issues because no one is here to comment on the plan and we received no comments but it is something that I have heard from. So that's all >> in favor. I I >> opposed. Motion carries. Can I get a motion to approve the studies weekly as a supplemental the social studies weekly

034supplemental resource? >> So movear, >> any discussion? Yes, I' I'd like to go first, please, because I do have a an announcement that I need to share um of a sort of a personal uh nature that's relevant to the upcoming vote here. Um last Monday, uh I began a new position. uh after 25 years of classroom teaching, I decided to accept an offer that I had received from an academic publishing house to go to work for them as an editor. Um that was just this past Monday. And at the academic and uh personnel committee the preceding week uh I learned that the company that I was about to go to work for was one of the companies that had been considered um by the high school ELA team. I'd like to make clear that it

035is not my company's product that is being discussed tonight. But for that reason, um I intend to uh recuse myself from a vote on this particular issue. And of course, at any time in the future there's any curriculum uh adoptions being made that might possibly present uh conflict of interest, I'll recuse myself from those as well. I'm I'm not a lawyer, Dr. Katu, but I think you can definitely vote against your company without any uh uh problem with uh with with conflict of interest, but but we have Tim here, Tim. >> Yeah. I mean, I don't think if the company that's in front of us is not the company you work for, I don't know that you definitively have to, but if but you certainly are do have the right to to abstain if you

036feel that that would be uh the position you wish to take. I I do feel that's appropriate uh just to avoid the the language that we sometimes use is the appearance of any potential conflict of interest. And so for that reason, I just want to be as uh forthcoming and above the board with my friends and neighbors in the community as I possibly can. >> I appreciate that. Can I um anybody in favor or I should say those in favor? Sorry. He he just did in the right this is you want uh more explanation because the Dr. tattoo in the committee report uh mentioned that I thought resources what others >> so um we do have our arts and letters um which is very comprehensive and it brings about many of the social studies standards

037we did recogni which is our ELA program um K through five. We did recognize though that it does not cover every single Pennsylvania standard. So, we wanted to make sure that we were covering all of them. It's um it kind of looks like um one of those old newspaper style uh supplements uh that you would get. So, it makes sure that it does embed all of the uh PA standards including the PA standards um that are not necessarily covered through um a more um global uh company like the or the through the more global program like the um arts and letters. Uh so that the students would get it on a weekly basis. So between arts and letters and then this weekly um program that the students would be getting. Uh there's an online component

038but the teachers really like the um newspaper uh and the ELA activities with the history activities, the social studies activities that come with it. Um they really liked that component of it. So that combined would be the entirety of the social studies curriculum. >> Sure. Yes. >> I just I really like the uh package of material. Uh the the I saw Jay I just wanted to say the the little newspapers are really uh they're really cool and um there's certain there's a certain amount of tactile excitement that that that you know I think um from what I understand they have a bit of a buzz with the with this with with the the children and um and the instructors alike. And um um and I also thought that um the case that was made um

039about this um emphasized the reading in general like the the importance of the reading. So that's it definitely dovetales with the curricular goals that that we have and you know so I I feel excited about it. Yeah. So >> absolutely and it does. So we're very and it and there's a SIP ed uh Spanish edition of it. So it will meet our SIP students ability to continue in the SIP classrooms which is really neat as well. >> Those in favor I I >> opposed abstained. That's who abstaining. >> All right. Motion carries. >> Approve the N grades nine and 10 ELA HMH literature program. Can I have a motion to approve that? >> So move in. >> Second. Anyone? >> Second. >> Thank you. Any discussion? Yes. Uh well, I think it's important to say

040that this is a great literature program. Um it's extremely smart and well balanced. Um for for people out in the community um who might be watching this on YouTube, all all 12 of you um uh and that's a good that's a good crowd for the YouTube crowd. Um >> um the HMH is Hotton Mifflin, you know, hardcore. And I think it's important that you understand it's not some, you know, HM you hear that and it sounds like a um like an HMO or something and it's it's I don't know why they do that, but it's it's a little it's Hotton Mifflin from Boston. It's a real publisher. It's perhaps the most prestigious American publisher in terms of its historical roots of any publisher that's still around today. they they published, you know, thorough and Emerson

041and this package is really it's just very well balanced. It's very mainstream. I mean, honestly, if I was trying to figure out like what would be a good package in English language arts for Sen Valley or like maybe like Nazareth or something like that, I'd pick this one, you know? It's very I mean it's pretty mainstream you know and it's it's classic you know this is like this is classic stuff and there's there's some new and cool stuff mixed in too but it's really pretty restrained I'd say you know but very high quality so >> all right That's correct. >> Yep. >> All right. So, those in favor >> I >> opposed. Abstained. >> Tattoo. >> Motion carries. >> Can I have a motion to approve the high school senior scholarships? So move >> any

042discussion >> in favor? >> I >> opposed. Motion carries. All right. Can I have an approval to do items one through 11 of personnel al together or would anybody wish to break them into groups or separately? Do I have a motion to group them all together? >> Second tattoo. >> Uh discussion. >> Yeah, if I may. I just wanted to u uh congratulate uh Renee for uh uh stepping into the position of u assistant business manager. This is you were sort of like a little farther from Mr. Bonenburgger before and it was difficult. Now you're going to be closer and it's going to be even more difficult. So uh I uh uh don't envy that aspect of your uh your job but uh congratulations uh welld deserved and looking forward to uh working with you

043for many many years. >> Seeing no other discussion all those in favor of items 1 through 11 under personnel in favor. I >> I >> opposed. Motion carries. All right. Uh facilities. That's the There are no agenda items for facilities. Do I ask for an approval for the finance or just go down to >> do finance or move down here? Oh, okay. Because there are Okay. I'm sorry. I didn't turn the page. >> Okay. Can I can I have a motion to approve items one through nine from the finance section al together or would anybody prefer it to be read individually to keep it together? Okay. Can I have a second to keep them together for >> any discussion? >> In favor? >> I >> opposed. Motion carries. Uh, community updates, Helertown, Lower Saken Chamber

044of Commerce. Jay uh the Sen Valley Foundation for Education Innovation with Dr. Ericson Parsons not on so nothing today. Uh, Northampton Community College, Miss Baxter. Nothing new to report, but I'll just go over the finals. Um, enrollment for spring, which is now ended up over 2% from last year. Um, year-over-year. Uh, we're enrollments for first summer session are also um, trending favorably. NCC is among the first group of training centers to receive all-star recognition from the American Heart Association for providing high quality CPR education. Uh Pocono's spring commencement ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 19th and Bethlehem's spring commencement ceremony will be heard on held on Thursday, May 21st. Um let me see. We've been negotiating with the maintenance group and we're this close from we're more or less settled. We just have to

045draw up the paperwork and we should be approving that at the May board meeting and I can report the pieces after that. And that's all I have unless you guys have any questions. Thanks. Thank you very much. >> Um, we will be having the election of the board of trustees to approve the candidates for Northampton County Community College Board of Trustees with the term of July 1st, 2026 to June 30th, 2032 per board ballots. Uh, for Babitz, uh, Director Demar, is there anything you have? >> Yeah. Um just most everything is uh uh pretty routine but uh we do have uh I'd like to recognize Sam Van Norman, one of our Saken Valley students who took silver at states and in firefighting. Uh he was uh among the four uh Bavat students that uh took

046a medal at States. So congratulations to Sam. And then uh also um the expansion project is uh moving ahead. Um everything's more or less on track. We did have some early change orders which was unfortunate but um um things are moving forward. That's all. >> Uh Dr. Pacad for Colonial Intermediate Unit. uh nothing significant to report back. >> There will be an election of board of school directors where we approve the candidates for CIU 20 with a for the board of school directors with the term of July 1st, 2026 to June 30th, 2029 per board ballots. PSBA representative uh director Carpenter and director Santos. Um, two majors to report. One thing that I would like to mention is that the PSBA is encouraging school boards to adopt a resolution calling on lawmakers to develop deliver

047and on time 2026 27 state budget that prioritizes public education. asks on the state legislative action for public education by continuing commitment towards adequate adequacy funding. Providing significant and sustainable funding, increases basic education through the fair funding formula and special education fund. Filing opportunities for school districts to be relieved from mandates that drive local costs and divert resources from the classroom. Ensuring sustained state funing and support for school infrastructure improvements and finally delivering sufficient state resources, career and technical education. >> All of us should really be in favor of getting through as far as districts go. What would be allotted to each week's district? >> I just have one item. Um, everyone on the board should have received a PSBA legislative priorities survey. Um, this is for you to input your uh priorities that are

048stated for PSBA to lobby the PA legislature. Um, so you can they have some pre-anned uh topics that you can rate on your priority on whether you believe it should be a high priority for PSBA's lobbying or a low priority. There's also an open comment field. I know there has been discussion on this board about feelings about uh how the funding formula rewards certain school districts and others and what percentage of funding comes from the state versus born by local taxpayers. So, uh you probably don't have many opportunities to at least write the people who are lobbying for these things and this is one of them. we will have um the voting of delegates for the 2026 PSBI delegate assembly which is November 7th, 2026. So if you are interested in attending that as a

049as a representative uh feel free to speak up. Seeing no one, we move on. Uh board director initiated items. We will be appointing a board director as the liaison to the Sen Valley Partnership. Is there anybody who would like to nominate themselves for that position? Do you want anything? >> Yeah, I would. Well, I I did ask someone else that was interested right now. But um uh so this is a this is a issue that I I brought up because I wanted to um I'll keep it kind of But basically we need we need a board uh leazison to our two municipalities you know and um where we can kind of work with them and through communication between the community and the district on a variety of levels. Um that has happened in the past

050um u quite a bit. Um but it I think that it sort of fell by the wayside a little bit with some of the um uh sheets that we saw like maybe three or four years ago. But I think that um you know there um I I do know almost everybody on the councils of the police um and there's at least a couple people I friends you know um I just think it'd be good for our district to have an official community to be able to report on stuff going on with this college briefly uh and look for opportunities really to work together. I think that's I I would pledge to be nonpartisan and you know um you know I I feel like I I can work with people from you know all over the

051political >> anybody else who would like to nominate themselves or someone else. >> I want to nominate Mr. Santos also. >> Mr. Santos, is that what he said? >> Yeah, we're doing two, right? >> This is one for the liaison. >> Why? I wanted to do two cuz he said that you were talking to another person also or another person instead. Mr. Brun. >> Yeah. Well, uh I would not have personal um but we talked about Um I mean this is the first time we talked about it. So um or at the meeting you know um but two is great. I mean um there's two municipalities uh you know um you know to me double the fund you know um so I I don't I don't it's not it has been so >> once or

052twice a week >> probably lunch every day. and possibly since it doesn't currently exist, it would be something that as as a group between Lower Sock and Helertown and the school district, it can be built to make sure that it includes their representatives as well as ours. Uh, can I get a motion to approve appointing Director Santos and Director Broom? >> Yeah. >> You make a motion? >> Yeah, I'm making a motion. >> Okay. There is no I mean it doesn't even have a is that you have to make it r or something a point you can put whatever you want to put there with a comma in the blank >> second >> I had moved it already but it's okay a Second. >> Second. >> All right. Uh, all those in favor? >> I

053>> opposed. All right. Motion carries. Citizens inquiries and comments. Seeing no one. Board comments. Announcements that our next business meeting are April 28th, 2026 at 7 p.m. in the high school audience. And then again on May 12th, 2026, 7:00 p.m.
