the regular meeting of the putnam county school district for tuesday june 15th is now in session the pledge of allegiance will be led by mr bud mcginnis and our invocation will follow with willie mckinnon pastor at trinity baptist i pledge united allegiance of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for dear lord as we all to you and we thank you for being the awesome god that you are well we pray that you'll open our hearts in this meeting to the problem and lord it shall guide us to the resolution yes where i pray a special blessing over each and every one of these board members and lord we just pray that you'll guide them in such a way the resolution that they come
to will lift up the folks of this community or again forgive us where we fail you for we ask these things from a precious holy name amen amen thanks willie thank you willie um we'll now have presentations first is our tag art winners by ms ashley mccool good afternoon everyone as you all know due to covid um some of our ceremonies were cut short this year to recognize students and so um on behalf of miss myers our tax collector and the coordinator for the tag art program she has put together a powerpoint to showcase the students who participated this year and are winners so i'm going to go through that for her so the tag art program um is in its fifth year it celebrates the artwork of our putnam county students and it's it's
for our fifth grade students um the palatka daily news did a great insert that i gave each of you where you can also take a look at the um the artwork for our students this year awesome it's made possible by the continued support of some really great local sponsors and here are some of those here and then there is also a new sponsor she wanted me to share with you as well as community partners and then she states to the participating schools on the wonderful talented educators and specialists who inspire our children every day and to the parents and families who support the efforts of our children a special salute to all and thank you and i'll this time share the awards of distinction presented to the talented license plate designers these are the winning
plates from browning pierce elementary the children's reading center [Music] interlochen elementary james a long elementary kelly smith elementary melon elementary [Music] melrose elementary [Music] middleton bernie moseley elementary excuse me aquila elementary e.h miller school so at this time if you will join me in a round of applause for all of these talented children [Applause] this is the dollar amount that was raised this year from the sponsors 9747 that will be distributed to the 12 participating schools to be used specifically for any art projects or programs within that school the plus dollars are from tags purchased by family and friends of the young designers which also goes directly to the school so if you've ever seen the tax collector website they do a great job of highlighting the tag art program and you can go in
and select the tag and there's all kinds of different things you can purchase mugs and there's things other than the license plate that are really cool and i know a lot of our families enjoy doing that each year for the past four years this is the total that has been given back to our school specifically for arts because of this program over thirty thousand dollars and i i would personally say a lot of that goes to the efforts of miss myers um if you have never been a part of this project or had the blessing of having her come to your school and promote it she does an amazing job her enthusiasm for it is just contagious and um she gets kids so excited about it so she's she's just done a remarkable job with
this and these are our county top five winners so from pinal baptists the first place winner was avery from browning pierce elementary the second place dolce from mosley elementary third place natalie children's reading center fourth place sarai and middleton bernie the fifth place winner is armani so those are the overall five winners and also you will see in the insert and if you happen to see the placa daily news there are certain winners that different folks in the community get to select so i know dr cerncy has a superintendent's award and different folks like that so they do their best to highlight and and showcase as many students as possible so congratulations to all the tag designers and those students who participated and thank you to the community for the great support of our children
especially the programs in the arts so thank you thank you our next presentation will be the lamp of learning awards by miss gail cahan bill you've changed our street i'm going to try not to take up okay okay please stand up i'm going to try not to take up too much of you guys time mrs cernsey only told me i had 30 minutes today my name is sheree clayton i am the alpha delta kappa president this is president-elect michelle michael and then we also have some of our members with us mildred walker miss karen hughes and miss alice so a little bit about alpha delta kappa we are an international honorary organization for women educators we provide a wealth of opportunities for leadership development and networking through workshops training sessions conferences and conventions perhaps the
greatest opportunity alpha delta kappa provides is its chance to make a difference around the world alpha delta kappa members combine their energies and talents to enrich the lives of others through thousands of heartwarming community-based altruistic projects in the past two years alone alpha delta kappa members have given nearly 12 million dollars in monetary and other gifts nearly 2 million dollars in scholarships and have distinct pleasure of continuing this plan trend here in putnam county by awarding the top fifth grader at each elementary school with a monetary reward of 50 dollars to recognize their academic and educational accomplishments with the lamp of learning award these students were chosen by their teachers for being great all-around students both academically and socially these students also met the following criteria excelling academically behaving well in class exhibiting a positive
attitude helping his or her classmates and participating in school community and church activities so now we're going to go ahead and present those to our recipients thank you we are so excited that we actually get to deliver the certificates in person so we are thankful for everyone that was able to attend today and be a part of this today in this recognition of their students from the children's reading center charter school we acknowledge annabelle butler is one of the recipients for a top student [Applause] congratulations annabelle do you want them to stand up here yeah we'll yeah if you'll stay up there that'll be great make sure this is the next one that i guess from james a long elementary school michaela campbell [Applause] congratulations michaela from middleton bernie elementary school isabella wingfield [Applause] congratulations
isabella from mellon elementary school john carpenter [Applause] congratulations john from kelly smith elementary school harley strickland [Applause] from e.h miller school edgar hernandez from interlaken elementary school alana guadalupe congratulations alana from browning pierce elementary school grace [Applause] reynolds from melrose elementary school elijah eli pefley [Music] oh he's there congratulations eli from aquila elementary school yan lin [Applause] did i pronounce that no it's you it's what oh sorry congratulations jen from mosley elementary school may lavette deleon and dino oh sorry did i pronounce that card oh did i i apologize i'm sorry thank you maylivet let's give them all one round last round of applause for their excellent we're going to do a quick photo op we won't take a long time behind you i'm not black no it won't weed them all these proud parents
and principals and teachers and congratulations if i had my old pet alligator i just nicked him up there behind karen's hair congratulations okay now we have our commissioner's business recognition awards by dr rick surrency they may want to look thank you madam chair and man it's good to be in person and fill this room up again right right yeah we've been we were getting kind of uh tired of all the zoom and all that but we had to do what we had to do and thank y'all for your patience and we got up here today and we felt kind of crowded up here we're not you sitting so close to each other but we'll get used to that it's a good problem to have i'm very honored to present a very prestigious award this is
actually provided by the state of florida and i believe the third year if mine and sharon's memory is correct that we've been able to present this award and this is to a local business partner who's really gone above and beyond to really support the school district we have so many business partners and community partners who do so much to help our district we cannot operate in a vacuum so we rely on a lot of our people outside the district to really help us and this year beck automotive group has really risen to the occasion and really gone above and beyond what anyone has as far as supporting our kids supporting our schools our teachers anything we've asked them to do or not ask them to do they've always been there and this is actually it
reads commissioner's business recognition award and this is from the commissioner of education and each district has one group that they name each year and this award is presented to beck automotive group for providing innovative learning opportunities in your community and enhancing florida's educational system so let me read just a little bit of additional information before i ask mr mclean to come up back auto group has provided outstanding support to the putnam county school district our students and staff for many years they have provided students in our jag and jfg programs that's jobs for american graduates and jobs for florida graduate programs with an opportunity to gain real world experience by working in locations throughout putnam county this has positively impacted thousands of students beck auto group is present at many school functions to help support
school initiatives and they also generously donate school supplies to many putnam county schools as well as help with financial donations for many welcome back lunches for staff new teacher programs award nights senior awards and banquets their support makes a significant difference to the schools and students in putnam county so i just want to ask mr wayne mclean to come up and accept this award on behalf of beck auto group [Applause] you're a photobomber right [Laughter] and you didn't mention but we also gave david buckle's son a job so that's always good so um you know i'd appreciate this very much and uh breck wanted me to say how much this means to us but also you know supporting school means being part of our community and we get much more back um you know through
supporting the schools we've gotten a lot of great uh hires through interns that we've had through the automotive program down at our auto spa and so it's a great partnership and the school system has really done a great job and we're very proud to be part of it thank you very much by the way wayne also serves as our chairman of the uh chamber of commerce so he he definitely has a pretty big workload as far as our entire community so thank you again wayne i want to take a few minutes and uh share uh talking about partnerships a partnership we have with the city of pulatka and some recent developments as far as some of our revitalization and you know of our changing of facilities and that type of thing and i'm asked mr
bolton if he'll come up and just stand with me as we read this mr bowling has been so instrumental in making all this happen and i can't say enough about his efforts and just reaching out and you know really nurturing these partnerships but i want to read a little bit and then we'll ask the mayor and commissioners to come up just a minute the jenkins middle school administrative building which is building five previously known as a neighborhood facility was originally a joint venture between the palakka housing authority the city of pulatica and the putnam county school district in july of 1968 the school district signed a 40-year lease with the city of palatka for the use of the gym locker rooms and coaches offices due to the budgetary constraints the city of palatka voted in
april 1994 to relinquish ownership of the neighborhood facility to the putnam county school district today we'll be presenting to the mayor and commissioners representing the city of palatka the ceremonial key to the facility it is our hope that this gesture will help to fill a void left in the northside community we believe this will provide a venue for the city to once again provide educational programs and extracurricular activities that have proven to be so valuable to the development of the youth in the past so mayor hill if you will come up and your commissioners and i know you have eddie come on up just want to present this key to you part of the uh school district reaching out to the city of flagstaff [Applause] which lock does this key work on madam chair to
the board as a whole it's i have with me today commissioner justin campbell well known to throughout the school district also our director of community affairs mr eddie cutwright and also commissioner will jones and so today for us is a great day the northside neighborhood facility center was the center that's been an important part of my family forever my mother was a graduate of central academy high school the first accredited african-american high schools in the state of florida in 1935 but that center served as a place where commissioner jones and i um we matriculated every day also mr bolin's father was a teacher at jenkins middle school and he taught us a lot about manhood sitting right there in the back of his classes and in that center but that center allowed for our young
people to have a place to go a haven it was a place where our seniors gathered it was a place where the community organizations could come in such as community action and other organizations magnite achievers which was run by aaron robinson who was the last director and so when you think about what the north side neighborhood facility center means to palakka not just the north side it's a place where it's all encompassing of life and so we are just excited about the opportunity to revive the northside neighborhood facility center in the name of central academy high school and preserve the memories of robert h jenkins in the gymnasium and so we look for an opportunity to provide a service center for all citizens for all organizations to be able to come forward and provide social
services to provide health services to be able to provide opportunities but we also want to educate our children and create a kids zone so that we'll have aftercare and after school and programs where we train our young people to be tomorrow's adults and then lastly we want to have a place of gathering so that they can get the services necessary we envision social security and our department of children and families coming back into the community where they can actually serve in a greater capacity and where the city can be there to serve as a partner as well and so um look for us again because we're going to come back asking you for the entire building for an opportunity to create a true partnership that will last and create homeownership it will revive the community
but it will make pelaco what it is which is the gem of the saint johns river and we continually say to everybody here and we're glad to have the partnership with the school district so that we no longer operate in silos in this community that we're better together and today is a monumental step in this community as a whole being better together and so for that i thank you i think mr bolling as well as mr cernsey and this board for all that you've done and you don't really understand just how monumental this is for this community there's a vision that's going to be shared with everyone here and i think that vision will transcend time in the city of palakka thank you [Applause] oh come on willie you know i will say a few
words you know the miracle say it all i heard him sing a country western song when he was a kid in high school and i'll tell you what i wish he could sing it again okay there we go if this key don't fit then let us know what we got it doesn't fit you ready one two three he didn't take your class no he did thank yes absolutely thank you god bless you good to see you when you leave thank you for all you do for the kids well thank you you had a hard time with covet but we're going to get it back it's crawford david called me okay do we have any public no public comment so we'll move to the public hearing section of our agenda madam chairman i would like to

you very much thank you again thank you um okay now we'll move to our reports and i'll start with you miss gilliard okay all right i want to start with um the product of putnam them being recognized at the graduations and here that's that's a thumbs up a great addition to our community and it segues right into the next one uh looking at future products of putnam i i saw all of the students that received uh the athlete of the whatever and then all of our students that were recognized for their academic excellence the 119 or 17 that were recognized and then i looked at aaron carter in the paper being in the uh in wp championship and and takia seymour and and it just again i i you know i declared i'd never leave
god's country cemetery and because of these great things i know i'm not going anywhere um putnam community medical center volunteers did a great thing for e.h miller they gave him it wasn't called a prom but it was like a beach dance party and they oh i bet they loved it uh the sp the uh volunteer coordinator is um rose smith bellamy and they took some beautiful pictures they hired a dj and they gave the students some prizes and it was great and they had one lady that helped decorate i met her as a chaplain there 90 years old and i promise you she doesn't look a day over 65 or uh 66 she told me about she oh man she and and so they did this because they wanted to give back to to the
uh disney to the school system and so i'm just so pleased with that uh to feed the need uh denise brambly nobody in putnam county should go hungry with all of the programs that we have that have the food giveaways that people give of themselves out at epic the different uh churches that work in conjunction with uh feeding america feeding florida whatever it is and then our summer feeding signs they're already out and send me till when i walk in the morning and and who all are they feeding older older people okay they probably try you at lunch well she can about pass okay all right i'ma tell him you said so and then the final thing i want to talk about and i've been harping on this pretty much all day during our uh
strategic planning was the graduation the speeches not only what those students said but you could tell they felt it they they teared up uh their behavior every not an incident nothing just a portrait of a graduate and then the memories and how some of them challenge them that when we come back 10 years 20 years 30 years from now what would happen and i sat there saddened by one thing and it was the fact that these people these young people in the age that they live in they will be able to pull up the speech and listen to it and play it over and and reflect on it because i promise you if they sat there like i did 50 years ago on june the 6th right on that same field i sat there and
i promised you i can't tell you anything i was awestruck i was afraid i i didn't know what i was going to do i cried and i saw some of the young people walk off the stage a little girl out there at a interlocking and she had the deer in the head like look not because she didn't know where she was going i think it was more because she was leaving her friends and that thing touched me so and i just wish i could pull up that speech and hear something that person said to me 50 years ago they are so blessed and i pray that they know it and realize enough said i'm done thank you thank you thank you miss gilliard mr mr buckles uh graduation of the available for a little while
and it was pretty neat i just kind of it it is an awe-inspiring culmination it's so much nicer than the what we went through with the coveted in the lockdown and i i just glad we're back semi-normal and rolling right along i expect it to get better but there's going to always be bumps a summer feeding program like you're talking there are kids that don't have a clue that there's summer feeding going on uh you know riding the bus over the years watching kids in crescent city in georgetown denver and you know some of the black woods areas of the county from utah ridge to the west putting them way out way out in the woods there's some hungry kids out there they really are but we're doing doing the best we can we can't
feed them if we can't find them and i know that food service is working on that but i i just applaud the principals and and the people that work with the students they did an outstanding job then it is just overwhelming so good luck mr superintendent with your staff and planning for this coming school year i i look forward to being really really neat so that's it thank you mr buckles mr mcginnis okay gonna congratulate the tag art winners and the lampa learning awards and thank the bec group for all that they do in our community and uh i'll echo the um well the strategic plan today definitely on board with that um it's really um just real good to be in that that workshop yeah um i'd had the opportunity to see the class
of 2027 that's like six the sixth grade graduating there's they made straight a's and that was just kind of like a fluke for me i don't know how i got to see that but i was blessed with that uh six years from now 2027 and i did get the chance to attend the ihs baccalaureate and there's students kind of like what mrs gilliard and mr buckles have said about graduations that um even that evening it was um uh they didn't have it the year before so it was just it was a homecoming again it was good for everyone to be in one place at one time and mr helms gave a wonderful gift to his students he sang and i can't remember the song now that he's saying he has an incredible voice it was
great and uh along with that the ihs awards the senior awards there's i was just counting up how long i followed this i guess it's been since 99 because my oldest son was graduated in 99 so it's 22 years that i've been involved with those awards kind of at the high school but this and following that there's a couple of families that are always there one of them is jenkins and mr granger they're also other the riches and ear hearts and they're always consistent about paying it forward and mr rich was known in west putnam and richard their hearts as well so i just wanted to say something about that and something that just really impressed me was another family um dijon and uh oh gosh i can't forget her name but the green family
opened up another scholarship with jaleesa jalisa and dijon because their younger sister was graduating ihs this year so heart to heart has opened up another another scholarship program so just says it just it warmed my heart and uh it was awesome the ihs administration department did give i'm talking ihs they gave them a dollar for the first dollar they earned i thought that was so good that i already already put my hat in for next year so that was it thank you mr mcginnis ms crawford um again i also want to say something about graduation um i don't know it was just they seemed wonderful they're always great but this year they were just so special the weather held out for all of them um they were so poignant and so beautiful and the guest
speakers uh the the kids and the superintendent everybody's speeches i just thought were wonderful and i'm also hoping that the teachers um will have time over the summer to um rejuvenate and get some rest and relax i know a lot of them are going to be going to workshops and trainings and but you know hopefully they'll be able to um take time to relax i have two little pieces of paper from chocolate candy i ate i really ate a lot more than these two but one of them says be you be unique and the other one says be fearlessly authentic so i'm going to be fearlessly authentic with what i'm going to say next [Laughter] i would like to go on record as saying that i'm against censoring or banning books in schools advocates of
book banning commonly fear that their children will be swayed by the content which they regard as potentially dangerous they commonly fear that these publications will present ideas raise questions and incite critical inquiry among their children that the parents are just not ready to address some of our greatest classics through the years have been banned in schools across our nation just think about it to kill a mockingbird catcher in the rye 1984 of mice and men harry potter and so many more and now we are censoring and banning books that have been deemed suitable for our cambridge students and i i just don't understand instead of the teachers being allowed to offer a substitute reading for the parents for the students of the parents that complained the books were removed from the reading list and it
makes me very very sad that we've come to this for our best and brightest students that's all i'm going to say on that and then the last thing i want to say or that i want to mention and this is just coming from the heart when we talked um not the last board meeting because i was not here but the board meeting before i think it was on the agenda that we were selling our surplus properties and i get it i know we need the money um i was very emotionally distraught at that meeting about that because you know i i had mentioned that they finally named a campus a building after my father who was superintendent for almost 20 years in putnam county and i was not really thinking clearly and i didn't think
all of that through um because of my emotions and i failed to think about the fact that we have a contract a 10-year contract with st john's river state college for them to use that building for their programs that they have put there and that they're planning to put there and i know that they've put thousands of dollars into renovations and not only that they have plans to start additional programs based on their occupancy of this campus and i know that we need the money i do but i also know that we need to be good partners and we need to honor our word and we need to honor our contracts so if we can give properties to other ten to entities for a dollar or ten dollars i think we can certainly honor our
contract with saint john's river state college and that's all thank you miss crawford i feel along the same lines as miss crawford does i um i wasn't comfortable and i and i feel like i voted before i thought all the way through i talked to people um beforehand and um i don't know i i definitely think that we should think about that a little bit more than we thought about it but as far as the graduations go i was extremely impressed with all of them i did notice that each one of them was different and made it unique and special and i i really liked that a lot it it made them you know if you have to attend five in a week it's nice when they're a little bit different it began at e.h
miller and camille faulconer is that how you falconer falconer um she told those students that they had a hope and a future and that really resonated with me then at interlochen high school i i thought all of the speeches were excellent but the thing that really struck me there was it seemed like that those students genuinely loved their teachers and they loved their classmates and the two girls that spoke riva and nikki really connected with the students that they represented and i thought that that was outstanding um at crescent city high school of course you know it's been a long time there um the thing again there's a there's a deep connection between the faculty but haley arias i i think that aries i think she gave a wonderful speech and she did it bilingually
and i thought that that was outstanding because many people in attendance probably wouldn't understand the whole english version of her speech they also did the prayer bilingually and i i thought that that again that's something that's needed in south putnam and um i'm glad that we paid attention to the needs and then then palakka high school was wonderful and i thought the highlight of that to me was probably mr stout and the student singing the star spangled banner i was extremely i was it was really fabulous and i thought that was great um and then the last one q i roberts um it was the fifth one and you know i'm getting older and i was tired and you know and so i almost really tried to talk myself out of going and boy would
i have missed something um the one thing i thought that was really great and there were several good things at that one but one was that the the students the seniors select their teacher to give the closing remarks and i thought wow what an honor that would be and and i believe mr belcher was so touched and you know he just he had to just take deep breaths like what you're told to do when you you know nervous um but he he talked about so many things that were really neat the the endless number days that we have i thought that was great um and the fact that he he really um talked about the footprints that we live leave in each other's lives and um you know try to make them deep and meaningful
and i just thought that was so um so wonderful not wonderful enough for me to want to look up that group of poems and well i tried to look i tried to look it up but i couldn't tell what the title was this i think it scared him okay well i spelled it incorrectly that's why i couldn't find it um so and and i also want to to tell miss france that um peyton's speech touched me too and and really because um when she said that there had to be a connection in order for you to feel a loss when you separated that that's true and you know so it that was i won't say anything else and i'm not looking for it right now um i will i do want to give a huge
thank you to mike and the it people setting up and taking down um five graduations that was just amazing and to see gary nielsen come out of retirement to help and he hasn't changed a bit and so and the custodians and the senior class advisors um and all the people that helped set up the graduations i i did that for quite a few years and there's a lot of pressure on you to try to make it perfect and um it so it i just want to say thank you to everyone that had something to do with that it is really nice and people don't really realize all that goes on behind the scenes to have a graduation it's nice to just show up and sit where they ask you to sit and listen to great
speeches and um see kids happy walking off the the field and so that's that's all i have uh i did learn the sign for applause up above your head up above your head holly since since jane breached a subject about textbooks i'd like to to touch on that for a moment before you pass it on uh i received some calls from some parents about textbooks and it's not it's not it's not that big a shock i don't think i ever had a year as a principal or school superintendent i didn't have someone or a board member call and complain about a textbook or a book assignment and we normally have principals who who have alternative assignments and we we try to let the superintendent and staff handle that so that's not uncommon i don't think
it's going to ever stop you're going to have people that read something into everything and i was trained uh yeah i guess many of us who are somewhat older and i i look at peyton the other day i mean she's one that would love to read that material and and argue about it and so there there's positives and negatives but i think parents do have a big say in it and if they have alternative assignments uh i think that's the appropriate thing to do is to make an appropriate alternative available parents feel very as they should very strongly and that's that's all i'll say about that i mean i i i like to read what people that i don't agree with write because it helps me understand what going on in their heads but uh
the the uh workforce development and the i feel very confident that the superintendent and the college will have have a a an alternative path to that and i yeah i say that because i've i've got you know i've talked with the superintendent so and and i've talked with mr pickens so i'm not too concerned about uh that and i i feel certain that at some point in the future the naming will will find a way to preserve that as well so with that i'll pass it on back to you mr pickets okay mr taylor well we definitely want to pass on our congratulations to all the graduates you know the ceremonies were wonderful this year we've heard nothing but good things but um something i wanted to focus on is that in the last six
months with the restoration progress project that the um school district has been going through i think i've touched on i've not not touched a single part of the staff and i know that we're going into summer and that's usually a slightly slower period in time for us but you know thomas has been wonderful working with with us and coordinating um all the different educators that have had to do it there's been a lot of legal things that have been touching all those so i've gotten a chance to interact with them and the goals of that project are high reaching but our goals that this community can do and you know it will be a very busy busy summer for staff it will not all get done this summer it's going to be a heavy lift
it's going to take you know years to finish up some of those lofty goals but um i i you know we'll be here to support you legally um but we you know commend this board for you know supporting rick and his his team's vision and um you know it's it's going to be a lot of work on staff they're doing a lot of heavy lifting and they're moving a lot of different parts all at the same time and uh so i'm really i'm proud of them i know the staff has been working very very hard i've seen it because i've had to touch it and um you know we'll continue to be there and be a good partner and and looking forward to the successes that that's going to yield so we're really happy about
that but i did want to give a call out to them because they're going to be working extra hard this summer yeah thank you thank you mr taylor um and dr cerncy yeah no lex doesn't know just how much he's going to help us they're going to be moving in next door you know caddy corner from us so we may just be calling on you more than you you might be taking all that back they'll just be hollering out the window he does come here every tuesday he has office hours here so we take advantage of his services for real let me just mention a couple of things um uh looking forward to you know the city using that piece of property that we worked out for them the community center and i think that's
just going to be a wonderful opportunity for the north side i do want to make i do want to clarify something the mayor said um we are we are getting an appraisal on the remainder of that property okay the jenkins property so again we we have not brought that to you as far as a resolution yet but it is currently being appraised and then you know we're having conversations with them and but again our goal is um you know just find out what the value is and go from there [Music] even though strategic plan uh jonathan and ashley did a great job presenting that today as you said we are actually meeting and i think he made note of this a week from today our entire district level staff is going to go on a
retreat uh away from here still in town but away from here and we're going to do nothing but all day develop action action plans to implement the strategic plan so it's going to really guide our work for the next five years but we're looking at a year of time at a time uh we started moving yesterday our maintenance department is uh you know weather permitting they're out there moving and they have a very clear plan on you know which school they're moving first and if you walk in so many schools it is uh it looks like they're moving a lot of boxes i think mostly got a low just according to amber and our teachers you know they've all um i believe pretty much know where they're going to be at next year we still
have some vacancies and all but it's a work in progress and we knew this was going on and you know mr bowen is overseeing that so if anybody has a question to see mr bolton about it so but it is going well i think um speaking of that we also you talked about teachers taking the summer off i went around to four different teacher trainings today uh kindergarten first grade second grade are all doing standards review of standards training for the best standards and then we add another group that is uh computer science teachers that are being trained so they hit the ground running yeah and uh they're very enthusiastic i just can't say enough about them and our coaches the people that were leading those sessions very upbeat you know very what was going
on here today that was uh second grade best standards yeah so i'm really surprised you think they would be just tired and ready to go home but they're they're fired up they're fired up yeah people leading it are fired up so you can't help but yeah makes a difference let me just mention talk about graduation let me just mention a few highlights out of those graduates there are some monumental things that happen this year first of all we had 421 of our graduates have earned an industry certification that means they can leave here and get a high demand high paying job right out of the gate 21 certifications pass so exams and some students may have passed three or four different examples yeah right 21 exams right less students but more examples exams yeah thanks
for that clarification but this is the first year you remember back in uh 16 to 17 we started some new things and this year that that fruit is growing or the fruit on the tree if you will first of all we had our first advanced manufacturing graduates okay and uh we've had our first cambridge class at crescent city high uh they graduated graduated this year remember we expanded to crescent city yep and as ninth graders we started down there now those kids are graduating and i don't have that number in front of me but they i know john called out their names and also but that's the monumental we had our first collegiate high school graduates i believe 29 right from interlaken and palatka high schools these kids are in aaa before they earn their
high school diploma and we had we've had our first paris to pros cohort graduate from saint leo and have been hired to work in the putnam county school district yeah all of them how many i know six and we have some that are still graduating in the fall that's awesome we are going to recognize them later this summer grow our own i might grow on our own yeah so and these were already in our system as professionals yeah it's awesome yep it really is so madam chair that's all i have okay does anyone have anything else this meeting is adjourned thank you you
